This second time the checkout guy clearly charged the item, returned it to my basket, and then recharged me again before putting it into my checkout bag. The manager said she is on a call and she could not hang up. When I went to grab what I purchased, front end supervisor asked me why I am even there. In my opinion this is very poor customer service at Natick Roche Brothers. I will never set my foot again in that store.

Yes, it's not as luxurious to shop in, it's usually mobbed, the aisles are tight and the parking lot sucks. Produce is not as great in some items, and they don't carry as many super-speciality foods as Whole Foods or Stop & Shop. However, the people who work there are amazing. They are abundant (try almost every checkout line open during rush) and helpful, and friendly, and the store is well stocked and well managed. No self checkout crap. You don't need it, there's always a line open. We'd kill for an upgraded facility like the nicer newer Market Baskets that do exist, but our Bellingham store crew, from the managers to the baggers are amazing, and make shopping here worth the visit. Their meat department is wonderful, the seafood is great and if you can get near the deli, they work hard and are great too. Finally, a shout out to the bakery and prepared food folks - they are awesome. The food is great and they couldn't be more helpful. We love MB, just wish it was as a new one. Oh, and don't go near the place the day before a major snowstorm, or any Sunday at noon. Plan your visit if possible. 5 stars for the staff and people and management, 3 for the facility. It really needs an upgrade.

They have them, and it had A LOT of frosting and that's when I knew a day of healthy eating would be pushed to another day. Found a nice big slice of white cake and that frosting looked soooo good. I looked around for a fork because I wanted to dive into it in the parking lot, but that needed to wait until I got home. One minute through the self-checkout lane and I was off, and hurried home to get my sugar rush. It was delicious, and there was so much frosting that I didn't eat all of it (probably a first for me). After wandering the aisles, the prices seemed the same to me as those that I normally pay in Newton at Star Market, so I may need to pick up some actual food the next time I am driving by! Instead, I got a light snack from the deli where I found some sliced meats and cheese on special. The gent who served me was pleasant even if his "Thank-you-have-a-good-night" was after he'd already turned away. The rest of the marked including butchery, produce, dry goods, etc all looked great. They assume you'll be paying with a card and automatically charge the increase which is charged per item. This is the most nickel and diming business strategy. Card payments are the norm for most consumers. Trying to persuade customers to pay in cash by penalizing them just seems sketchy. It's a convenient location for me but I'll be taking my business elsewhere on principle. I was also overcharged for an item and when I pointed it out, the cashier just said "no" and I had to ask her to go look at the label. Their prices are not especially competitive so I'm not sure where the attitude comes from.
