Stopped in to grab some ground pork from the butcher and was very disappointed by the customer service and absolutely disgusted by the cleanliness of the meat department. I approached the counter to ask where to find the pork, stood there for several minutes while the butcher mopped and ignored me, despite looking up. Finally went to check the cooler and found an in-store shopper to ask, she brought me to where it should be but there was none, I followed her back to the counter where the butcher was quick to come to her service, and she placed an order with him rather than trying to continue to help me. The butcher went from mopping to grabbing fresh ground beef out of the case with the same gloves he was mopping, and packing it up. In the process of weighing the meet he was also flinging into the floor of the shoppers side of the butcher counter. not impressed, and definitely would not buy fresh packed meats from this store. read more

I have always enjoyed shopping in Roche Brothers, since the selection and quality of the food is very good and the service is generally excellent. Recently, I purchased tilapia from the seafood counter, and was delighted by the freshness and flavor of the fish, even though I didn't cook until 24 hours later. This was a very pleasant surprise. I actually stopped purchasing fresh fish several years ago, and began purchasing flash-frozen fish only, because I have found "fresh fish" to be generally of poor quality (usually not fresh at all!) In fact, I also gave up eating tilapia 3 or 4 years ago because I found that both the taste and texture were usually poor. I am delighted to know that I can get truly fresh fish from Roche Brothers, and will definitely return to buy more. As usual, the service was also top-notch. Thank you Roche Brothers! read more

The store in Millis is going down hill. Their quality is taking a large nose dive. Today my wife bought a pound of potato salad from the deli to have with dinner. It was 40% water and the potatoes were not fully cooked. It was more like potato soup than potato salad. I took it back to the store and gave it to the manager at the store who said he will talk to the deli manager in the morning. What a joke. Roche Brothers charges $5.99 a pound for water. I mainly come to Roche Bros Millis for their Sushi. The chef is right there making fresh Sushi trays to go. It's delicious, a good selection and reasonably priced. I've always been a big fan of Roche Bros. This location was recently remodeled, and it came out beautiful. Roche Bros is known for hiring armies of teenagers to work the registers and bag. I came here once before a big snow storm, the parking lot was jammed, I was expecting the worst, but they had every single register open and manned with a bag boy. The lines moved very fast, to the point where there were almost no lines. They do a really good job keeping lines short and moving fast at the busiest of times. It appears they are trying to be another Whole Foods, which is fine, I like Whole Foods, I just can't afford to shop there. I can't afford to shop at this Roch Bros any more either. Some of the prices are outrageous. Everything is much cheaper down the street at Shaw's in Medfield. Another issue I have is the meat counter is extremely limited. If you want chicken breast, then you have to buy the four fillet package with the celebrity chef's picture on it for $4.69 a lb. No store brand, no family packs, no Purdue.... I'll wait in line for 30 seconds and save a ton of money down the street. read more

This is an excellent grocery store. It is not the cheapest in the area, but they have an excellent selection. A very nice cheese area, as well as excellent produce and meats. Locally owned and operated, they treat their employees much better than the big out of state and out of country owned companies like Shaw's/Star Market (Texas owned) Whole Foods (Amazon owned) and Stop and Shop and Hannaford (Belgian owned) do. I get groceries delivered and the guy they always send to my house is so considerate and polite. The produce they deliver far surpasses Peapod delivery produce. Only complaint is they use spoiled tasting steak in their steak salads now, but the never used to. If they fixed that I would buy their steak salad 3 or more times a week! read more

I shop either Westboro or Millis, and everything could not be better. For a variety of reasons, in my opinion. Roche Bros / Sudbury Farms, blows Wegmans right out of the water. Virtually everything that Wegmans has, RB/SF has in a more compact and manageable setting. The deli and bake shop is clearly better. Unbelievably expensive. I would guess that, if you were to buy identical groceries at this Roche Bros and the Shaws down the road, the Roche bill would be 25% higher. That said, I shop here because it's the closest store to me, but if I need to get a lot of groceries I would go elsewhere. The store also doesn't seem to justify the prices: Whole Foods has better produce and everything else is the stuff you can buy at Shaws or Price Chopper. The mark up doesn't make any sense. We used them to cater an event at work. The food came on time, they were very easy to deal with, couldn't be friendlier. The spinach lasagna and green salad (esp. the dressing) were great. One downside- the chicken fingers were terrible! (This is not just my observation, people at our event were not shy about letting us know). Roche Bros in general is a decent grocery store to shop for the best quality and best selection in literally every department, and additionally the best and most helpful service one hundred percent of the time. There is one in Westwood that's only about five minutes from my house, but I always see people I know shopping there, which is why I go so infrequently. However, most often times when I'm driving on 109 and want the best of the best, I stop at this Roche. Even though it is sometimes more ideal to stop at Shaw's in Medfield or Medway (as both of them are nice enough), for something quick or fast or one thing here or there, because they most likely are cheaper, I come here when I want real good food. Even though I am on the policy of saving money, Roche Bros is worth the extra few dollars for the amount they give back to communities, their supreme cleanliness and organization and the service that is consistently wonderful. This location has wonderful parking, right outside, and a large café like area overlooking the parking lot. There isn't a bank inside, but there is lots of space and every department in a normal grocery store. The way the cheese shop is set up is lovely, and the entire layout and broad spectrum format of the produce, bakery, deli and meat areas was a great idea and works out well for my navigation. In general, I've found checkout to be fast, efficient, and easy, and ninety nine percent of the time items ring in at the correct price (which is a stretch at most Stop&Shop's). In all, I like this store and would highly suggest shopping there frequently (if you live around). 5 stars. read more

Better than most regular grocery stores but still a regular grocery store. Much produce is wrapped, not bulk, so you can't by the amount you want. Mostly regular national brands like you can't get some of the local brands of yogurt at the dairy section. But the quality is good and the service are good; way way way better than the Shaw's in Medfield (service there is non-existent). Some sales are good. I shop there mostly for the sales. read more

This is a family-owned supermarket chain, so the food they sell might be a little more expensive than other grocery stores. The neat thing about Roche Bros in Millis is that they have a little cafe where you can sit and eat. You can buy food from the salad bar, and they have chicken wings and mashed potatoes and such served hot too. What I like about Roche Bros is that after you pay for your groceries, one of the baggers will push your cart for you and help you load your stuff into your car. Its a nice little touch. read more

This is the best grocery store ever!!! The staff is friendly almost to a fault, the prepared food is phenomenal (try their dips), it's clean, well organized...just a dream to grocery shop in, overall. It's small enough to feel familiar, big enough to have selection. And the girl in the bakery talked to my grandfather (who had Alzheimers) for 45 minutes so my grandmother could get her shopping done. THAT is service. This place rocks. They catered a party I had over the weekend, I was a little worried about going thru a "grocery store", but I should not have been. I was very impressed the food was delicious, the delivery was on time and the delivery man was polite kind and set everything up very professional. Many guests commented on how good the food was. They have everything you need too one stop shopping for catering to make it so easy when throwing a party is stressful. the only reason why I gave them a 4 not a 5 was the customer service over the phone was rushed and not as helpful as I would have hoped. This place is too expensive!!!!!! You can do better elsewhere, even Wegman's, Stop & Shop, Star Market. I had NOTICED the price markup changes at the food court on those $5.00 meals, rotisserie chicken, even the bucket of cookies to $6.00. Those meals is not even worth the amount they fill in the containers. You can't buy a week's worth of grocery here, even with their sales (it depends on what the sales are). They also had changed the shaved steak on their 5 for $25 meat sale, they STOPPED putting the real shaved steak and put out some frozen brand of shaved steak, think of Steak'ums brand. You will get the idea how cheap they are. The deli is way too overpriced. You can't get a good deal on the sliced roast beef , I had found four other grocery stores that's much more cheaper and taste just as good. So, they had remodeled their store, and jacked up the prices and their store manger is a bit of a crass person. I know several clients that would love to get a part time job there, but this manager does not like disabled people and he cuts hours on them. I saw one tried to get a job there a few years ago, he was talking to that store manager and he was quite a jerk to this young man. And there was a help wanted sign, go figure! This is my grocery store for the past 14 years. You won't find produce rotting in the bins here (which I always seem to see in the big chain grocers' bins)! They've got new bakery and a new butcher shop area. And I've noticed their recent trend of carrying "natural" and "organic" which is saving me trips to Whole Foods, too! I once found myself checking out with $350 worth of groceries (big family holiday gathering) and no wallet. No problem... I went home with the groceries and returned the next day to pay them. WOW!! What a disappointing visit to this usually quality supermarket today. Although their 3 day specials usually bring crowds and some "missing" items because of overwhelming demand, today this was not the case. Today, it was a rude and incompetent deli empolyee. He acted like he was doing me a favor by waiting on me, and sent me home with improperly sliced deli meats. Since when does thinly slice mean 6-7 slices to the pound? And when does cheese look shredded instead of sliced? And finally, when does 1/3 pound mead .57 pounds on the scale? this place will keep their food on the shelf until it expires, bought organic bread for 6.99 only to see it was expiring in 2 days, some bagels that where actually expired, didnt notice until i grabbed a bagel and it felt wet...got some cooked food from there buffet, 2 chicken wings , small side of mac and cheese and sheperds pie, cost me $12, when i got home to eat it and the wings where like rubber from sitting on the steam table for so long, the mac and cheese was ok , and the sheperds pie was great, also got some things from the salad bar, 2 pieces of peppers, slice of onion, small amount of feta and baby spinach, came out to $7..i couldnt believe it.. i feel like they overcharge me all the time, the bill always suprises me.. read more

My grandparents shopped exclusively at Roche Brothers in Roslindale Square and in West Roxbury for decades. My parents shopped exclusively at Roche Brothers in Westwood for decades. I will never shop at Roche Brothers again. When you are checking out an item in the Millis store and someone says "right behind ya", it means that an ignorant store employee is going to ram you with a big stock cart on wheels and give you an ""I told you to get out of my way"" look as if you have inconvenienced him. When you buy their overpriced ready to eat food, you can't expect to eat it in the store because the store employees don't like their break room so they take their half hour breaks at the customer tables. No matter how much you spend or how long you wait, you don't stand a chance. When you and your kids eat standing up, the employees on break will laugh at you. It happened to me three times so I know it wasn't my imagination. Do yourself a favor and shop at a store that cares. You will have a better experience somewhere else. read more

We recently needed some sandwiches and wraps for a family luncheon. I went in on Wednesday and needed them for Saturday. The woman at the catering desk was most helpful. It was quick and easy to place my order. We ordered four trays of wraps, vegetable filled pita pockets and filled mini croissants.When my husband picked them up on Saturday, he was impressed with the service. When he brought them home, I was more than happy with the presentation, quality of trays and food. Many of our guests commented how delicious the food items were. Compared to other grocery stores, I've always found the Roche Bros. store management in Needham and now in Millis to be very inflexible. I've asked on several occasions if they would substitute a similar item for an advertised item which they were out of stock and the answer is always "no". I've even had conflicting issues when it came to rain checks. I was in the Millis store tonight and asked the Assistant Store Manager if he could allow an item; which was on sale yesterday; for the same price and he couldn't care less. He actually said he had no ability to honor such a request. Having spent many years in retail management, I was both stunned and disappointed to say the least. I guess that Roche Bros. doesn't think that people will switch grocers, but I am. I will only go to Roche Bros. if forced to from now on. As a family we spend around $1k per month on food and that will now be spent at Stop and Shop or Shaw's, as their store management is much more willing to work with their customers. Lastly, I've also found that you really have to scrutinize your receipt at Roche Bros. as many items ring up differently than what is posted in the aisles. That too is poor store management. read more
