Cumin 'n Eat serves excellent Indian food. The food is consistently hot, fresh, high-quality, and very well seasoned. The flavors are clearly prepared with care. The people are also friendly, which makes the experience feel welcoming. That said, there are a few things that would make the dining experience much better. On our last visit, our group waited nearly 30 minutes for the food to arrive. During that time, the table was completely empty except for water and place settings. When food is going to take longer than usual, it would make a big difference to bring something small to the table, even pappadums or another light starter, just to keep guests happy and occupied. It would also help if someone came over to apologize, give an update, and let guests know how much longer the food may take. Also, the cold plastic plates should really be upgraded. They feel cheap and tacky, and hot food should not be served onto cold plastic plates. Real plates would immediately improve the presentation and overall dining experience. The main dining room could use more warmth and charm. Right now, it feels a bit sparse and not especially cozy. But the room you first enter is in much greater need of attention. Honestly, it feels rather depressing to eat in that area. It would not have to break the bank to make it warmer and more inviting. A little decor, better lighting, warmer colors, or even a few thoughtful touches would go a long way. Right now, it just feels like very little effort was made in that space and that it's just a path to the cash register. One final suggestion: when it is time to pay, please do not stand over guests while they review the bill and decide on a tip. It feels uncomfortable. Either leave the device on the table or bring a paper bill first, then return when the guest is ready. Overall, the food is very good and the people are friendly. With a few service and atmosphere improvements, Cumin 'n Eat could offer a much better full dining experience. Our family really loves the food so kudos to the great chefs! read more

We came in with a party of 6 for a work outing. Our party was quickly sat and greeted. Water was brought immediately along with plates, menus and silverware. I had never tried Indian but my coworkers all had. I can say I am so happy this place was chosen. We all had different options that were so good. The chicken makhani was one of the best things I've ever eaten. The garlic naan was just wow and the rice helps tie it all together. Service was also awesome. Great little dining room separate from the busy takeout entrance/area is a nice touch. Samosa and pakora (I could've eaten the whole basket by myself it was so good!) as apps. I had Chicken Makhani w/ garlic naan, hubs had Chicken Korma w/ barotta (or as he took to calling it, bread spaghetti), friends had chicken tikka masala and chicken chettinadu. Everything was delicious! We were stuffed but just wanted to keep eating! And the staff was very kind and patient w/ us - our questions were probably dumb and our pronunciation terrible but we were responded to with a smile. I tried their dishes at one housewarming party last summer, it's been a year and I wanted to visit this restaurant since then. I wrote the review at that time but since then, I was waiting to visit this outlet in person. While coming from Poconos, I decided to take a detour and came here. The first thing I noticed- was no dine-in without reservation!! How would I know this? None of the Indian restaurants ( not talking about fine dining or upscale restaurants) has this thing, I thought I ll get the table, but nope it was a 20-25 min wait to get a table so the lesson is " call and reserve the table". They don't have resources so they don't prefer dine-in, but they do have 4 tables so that patrons like us who prefer hot food at the table rather than packing/to-go/door dash/GrubHub it. Anyway coming to food- The lady over there- she helped us while ordering, suggesting what is good for us. We ordered Fish marina- confused bw fish Apollo and marina, Apollo is more yogurt based so we chose marina. What I loved apart from the spiciness & fresh fish is their uniform coating. Normally in fish fry, the coating is not that uniform. Loved this item and the quantity was good. Mutton biryani: Fri-sat-sun- biryani is available for only 3 days, and mind you I have been a lover of biryani since the day I tasted it first. On the east coast- it is one of the best biryani I have ever had, definitely top 3 for me. This is not Hyderbadi nor Kolkata, it's their own version. pieces were well-cooked and you can feel pieces are covered in spices, I meant it's not there just for the sake of it or added separately, like many Indian restaurants. and yes Raita- it's good as well, unlike other restaurants where they serve watery ones, god knows what that is. Chicken dum ka- it was also good. be careful about the spicy level; here spicy means "really spicy" Menu: interesting, they did not just fill out the pages with 100s of items and confuse customers. they have their cooking style (masala base) and mix it with Chicken/Lamb/goat/egg/veg- that's it! The only thing that was not in my favor was it's far from my home; then the owner informed - me they have one branch in Seacaucus and now I can't wait to go over there. This small restaurant is one of my fav Indian restaurants on the east coast. (I am among the top reviewers on various platforms) so I know what I am talking about. Definitely 5 stars. read more

Sorry to say that the food we ordered last night was very mediocre. 1. The chicken Tika masala sauce was too sweet and too bland. It lacked the depth of flavor from the usual Indian spices that are normally used to make the sauce. However, the chicken was tender, and moist. 2. They don't have pappadum with the usual chutneys. Instead they give you these deep-fried styrofoam-like tube shaped things that are nowhere close to being a good substitute for pappadum. 3. The mint chutney was not fresh, and I doubt it was made in-house. It tasted like something you'd buy in a jar at the grocery store. This was a disappointment as I used to like their food. read more

We ordered two appetizers and two main dishes at spice level 2, which is medium. Everything was very good. Gobi Manchurian is lightly fried cauliflower in spicy sauce. It's listed as appetizer but I think a great main dish as well. Chicken Makhani, also known as Butter Chicken, was very good. It's chicken in a spicy tomato and butter sauce, which is a curry. This was great with steamed rice. Chicken Biryani is a chicken and rice dish which I've tried before, here and other places. Behl puri was a spicy, tasty snack. Have also tried lamb curry, mixed vegetables, halvah and carrot halvah at this restaurant before. We're fortunate to have an Indian restaurant of this caliber in our community. read more

OMG! Do not miss this hidden gem in a small strip mall in the Northampton location aside of Redner's. Never had Indian or don't know what to order? Go with the weekly special, 4 veggie or 4 meat dishes, rice, and naan giving you a chance to explore the dishes. Take out was 2 meat specials, 2 orders of samosa, and 2 orders of barotta bread. We also did dine in. The man greeted us, took our orders for samosa chat--a samosa cut open and topped with chickpeas and other veggies and masala dosa--a huge crisp crepe rolled up stuffed with a potato mix, hot, straight from the oven. All were very good. Ice water was served in a carafe. BYO is also an option. There are 5 tables for 4 plus a table for 2. Parking is in a huge lot with just the curb to step up or go over to the ramp. Do give it a try for quality food prepared to order, delicious, and reasonably priced. read more

The food is excellent - I had the Lamb Vindaloo with Garlic Naan, my friends had chicken curry and chicken tikka masala. All were absolutely fantastic, with great flavor and perfect spice levels. Fantastic Indian food in this small restaurant tucked away in a suburban strip mall. Don't come for the ambience (there isn't much). Come for the FOOD! The dinner menu has a unique concept. You'll find two columns. The column on the right explains six different Indian regional cooking styles. The column on the left is a list of main ingredients (chicken, vegetables, goat, fish, etc). You choose a main ingredient and then the cooking style to prepare it. We ordered two dishes in different styles and they were superb! We also ordered vegetable samosa which were very good. This spot is GOATed. This was the first time I dined here and they were super kind to us. We did not know that we needed to call to dine in so we told them and they were super accommodating. I do not really understand the reason for this but they let us sit in either way. They were super understanding of this custom and how many first-timers will not know. Just try and call to dine in and respect the way they run the business. Even though the place was in a strip mall, it felt so homey in there. The food was amazing and they check up on you and make sure everything is going well. I asked the hostess/waitress for some recommendations and was open to hearing what kind of taste I was looking for.
