I have been a regular customer of the Baghdad Barber Shop for the past couple of years…read more This morning I patiently waited 40 minutes to receive a haircut. While waiting, I looked over the shop's à la carte menu of services hanging on the wall directly across from me, and noticed that the barber had increased his fee for a basic haircut and presumably all of the other services offered. Amongst the services offered was a discounted price for senior citizens, age 62 and older. When it was my turn for a haircut, I asked the barber if I could take advantage of his discounted price for senior citizens. He then asked me my age. I told him I turned 62 a couple of months prior. Feeling awkward, I offered to show him my ID, which he declined. From that moment on I was treated differently than all the other times I had visited his shop. And differently from the customer who was in the chair before me. The first thing I noticed was how tight the barber secured the tissue paper and cape around my neck. The cape was so tight, I had to insert my fingers between the cape and my throat to loosen it. Then I noticed that the usual pleasantries were not there. Not chit-chat. And so I attempted to engage him in conversation, but my attempt was met with little response. Within a few short minutes my haircut was almost done. I was being rushed; unlike the customer before me. In fact, I was out the door in half my usual time. I was not given the customary neck shave, which the previous customer received. My sideburns were not fine tuned like they always were before. I was not offered the customary application of product (gel), which the previous customer received. Nor was I given the customary 360º view of my new haircut, which the previous customer received. My haircut simply ended; the chair I was seated in faced outward into the shop; facing the door instead of the mirror. That's when the barber removed my cape and said, "you're welcome." I was dismissed. I didn't see the final results of my haircut until I was home. Side Notes/Transparency: - The shop was not busy. There was no one waiting for a haircut after me. I can only assume I was rushed out the door because I had asked to take advantage of the senior citizen discount. - The senior citizen discount was $5.00. - Not only am I 62 years old, meeting the barber's own requirement for a senior discount, I am also physically disabled. I am unable to work. - I left the Baghdad Barber Shop today humiliated. - The barber is the proprietor.

Brandon is my barber but having watched thr others work over the years, I wouldn't hesitate to go to or recommend any of them. Always hospitable and good value for what you choose for your cut. I recommend the hot towel treatment, but you can get by with only a haircut if you don't have a need for a shave. Great atmosphere with TVs on the wall and a great selection of music always playing on the overhead speaker. Do be sure to go online and book in advance as they are appointment only and the process is simple and easy. Book early as most of the barbers can be booked several weeks out.

I'm retired, on a strict budget and I have to save for haircuts, it was a big deal to me. Tony has so many great reviews that I felt I was in good hands. He seemed like a nice guy, we talked about the cut. He basically did ever that I DIDN'T want. That would not be a big deal, sometimes it takes a cut or two to get it right IF THE QUALITY WAS THERE. It's a choppy mess. The fade I didn't want is choppy and uneven. I lost months of growth that I was specific about leaving as much as possible. , but I did say that if he needs to go shorter to connect everything that's ok - assuming he knew what he was doing. I felt ok after he was finished, I knew it wasn't great but when I got home ... yikes. It's like a joke it's so bad. In hindsight they were polite but I did not feel "welcome" ... I was hoping to find a regular barber. They are close and reasonably priced but obviously not a good fit.

So I politely leave and say thank you as I'm walking out I can hear him talking to another customer that he was already helping say he ain't taking me with that beard and that hat. So word of advice if your new don't even come to this place they guy was extremely rude. I even went back to Make sure he wasn't joking sadly enough the door was locked. He did come to the window in which I asked if him not serving me was a race thing but all he started saying was go to another barber. Called multiple times and the only time he answered he was "too booked up and to call back the next day". Proceeded to call a half a dozen more times over the next three days and never answered. He shrugged his shoulders and then said check back in next Tuesday. Awfully busy man for someone who's never there and parking lot is empty.
