I have mixed feelings about this place. We stumbled upon this place while walking down sides streets, after having a not so great breakfast elsewhere. It looked really cute and funky and I was looking to get a coffee to go. I noticed a small building that looked like a bakery and indeed had bakery goods and cupcakes inside. I went in, hoping to get a coffee and a cupcake. There was someone working behind the counter but she never looked up or said a thing to me. I thought maybe I shouldn't have been there, so I left. We went inside the building and finally someone asked if they could help us and they did go get me a coffee. We noticed there was a bar inside the larger building and my husband started chatting up the woman there (who I'm 99% sure was the owner) but she was super bitchy and not having any part of the conversation. That was enough for me (you don't me around? fine, I'll stay away) but for some reason my husband really found that bar charming and a few days later we went back. Luckily for us, Patrick was bartending that night! He was super friendly, and we spent the evening chatting with him. The drinks were good, and we did order dinner that we both enjoyed. Called at 4:30pm on Saturday. Similar to other reviews, I didn't know if this cafe was permanently closed, so I called them. Like others have mentioned, the woman who answered was very rude and with an attitude. This was the conversation: "hi, is this the cupcrazed cafe in blowing rock?" "how can I help you" "what are your hours today?" "we're not open" "so are you guys permanently closed?" "We're not open" "okay, what time do you guys open?" "we're not open this weekend" "okay bye bye". For whatever reason, they don't want customers, and they don't want people to know when they're open. Cupcrazed is my go-to dessert place in Boone! I love their huge variety of cupcakes including gluten free & vegan options that are just as delicious as their regular cupcakes. They have cakes, cookies, donuts, coffee...and everything is amazing. I'm like a kid at a candy store every time I walk in. Take advantage of their specials that they post up on social media! EDITED AFTER SECOND VISIT: yesterday - Food was fast and delish. The place is a super old farmhouse. Well decorated. Coffee was so-so and the place was smoky like someone burned the toast. Why the 5 stars then? Friendly quick service and delish food. That's really what's important! Will be back this morning! Today - went and they said they were only seating reservations. Then they said they were short staffed. Then they couldn't tell me what tomorrow would be like regarding reservations-only or not. Then they told someone they'd be off reservations-only in 45 min and to come back, but they hadn't told me that. The kitchen didn't seem busy and there were hardly any people eating there. So I requested to go food. They said they didn't think they could. I asked if they could ask their manager. Then I saw thru the plexiglass the manager freaking out at the request. Then they came back and told me they could but it would be a while. How long? 15 minutes. I said sure let's do it. 25 min later we had to go food. They didn't have to go plastic ware. We left for the hotel. Opened our boxes and they smelled burnt! But not just like burnt toast. Like toxic plastic burnt. I'd already given some eggs to my baby and regret it. The bacon was edible and the potato hash, although severely cheesy, was good. But the eggs toast and sausage - no way. And btw I'd ordered biscuits not toast. And asked for butter and jam and got none. I'd ask for my money back but don't even want to bother! Toxic food - unbelievable. My husband took me here for breakfast. He had the Elvis waffle and I had the Cheesy eggs. My eggs were the best scrambled eggs I've ever had!! They were so fluffy and cooked to perfection. My husband's waffles were crispy and the peanut butter and bananas were a great addition. The ambiance of sitting in garden surroundings was a tranquil, relaxing atmosphere away from the crowds and busyness of central Blowing Rock. The service was excellent. First time here but we came based on family recs that had loved the previous (Village). We had a reservation for breakfast. After being seated, we ordered drinks and went ahead and ordered our meals. After maybe 25 minutes, our food came before our drinks (coffee and juice)... The coffee was served without cream / sugar. Chicken on sandwich was burnt. Had to request silverware - my spoon was dirty. Basically appeared like the staff was not prepared to be busy. I hate leaving bad reviews but don't want others to have a similar experience. read more

This used to be an AMAZING restaurant. It has been revamped and found lacking, unfortunately. I genuinely WANT to write a positive review, but we were seated and we got water, then nothing. We'd asked for a drink menu and our waitress (we asked FOUR times) never brought one and completely forgot about us, ignored us and simply stopped coming to our table. FINALLY, we put in our orders. We then waited an hour and a half to get burned chicken and FROZEN French fries, when we actually ASKED our waitress if the fries were, indeed, hand cut as stated boldly on the menu and she told us yes, unequivocally! When the food finally arrived, the chicken was burnt to a crisp and the burger was pretty awful, as well. Our waitress was exceptionally incompetent and unresponsive. Just amazing, BUT she did stop over, during those 90 minutes we awaited our food, to assure us that our orders "will be right out". To her credit, the owner comped our meals, but it didn't change the fact that our 91 year old dad and mom had such a negative experience.....it really was just so terrible we simply couldn't believe such a GREAT restaurant had fallen so low. Also to her credit, the owner brought us cake - extreme sugar icing, but the cakes were wonderful. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant. PLEASE, train your people, before you turn them lose on your clientele, PLEASE. Make sure they are capable of cooking, serving and cleaning, before you allow them to work during a busy morning service! Make them wait on YOU, so you can intelligently critique them and help them. You do your business, your reputation, your standing in the community AND your loyal clients and employees a HUGE disservice by allowing such horrendous food to be served, such terrible waitress service, such really disheartening experiences to be had. The owner also argued with our party over a menu discrepancy which the other male manager/owner did admit the menu was incorrect after we were on our way out. I wanted to like this place, since the outside garden is magical, but the cooked food was overcooked and awful (the salads were good), the owner was yelling at her staff, there was a pungent burnt smell eminating from the kitchen and one of there toilets was completely clogged. They forgot to bring out an entire meal after we had waited 60 minutes for our dinner and then we had to wait 30 minutes more. We decided to get our kids cupcakes in their little shop because they had been really patient, but when they came out, one cupake was not one that we ordered. I asked for a switch and the server acted really annoyed. To top it all off, the cupcakes tasted medicinal and my kids would not eat them. Our visit started with a young lady saying it would be a 15 minute wait, and if we just sat on nearby benches they would come get us. We gave our name and party size, which evidently nothing was done with. After 10 minutes, and seeing other parties seated we went to check. To find a different girl and no idea we were waiting. Food was only so so. Soup did not come with cheese croutons as on menu. Kitchen didn't have any ... house salad with salmon toast was just greens with oil, nothing else. Grilled cheese was burnt and dried over cooked. Like burnt cheese toast. Hamburger was not cooked to order, dry and the chilie was old. Perhaps they do better with breakfast items? This place is absolutely amazing. Went here today with my mother in law. Super easy to find but not much parking. We parked by dominos and walked over to it. Super pretty inside. Nice environment. Staff were amazing and friendly. All cupcakes and cookies were just 1$ which was so exciting. It was so hard to pick from all the yummy choices they had. Can't wait to go back. I got several cookies and cupcakes. Oreo stuffed,strawberry, butterfinger, Nutella, etc. I tried the M&M cookie one and it was sooooo good. Also had a strawberry smoothie and it was also very good. Went for breakfast because all of our favorite restaurants are gone and it was literally one of the only places open for breakfast. When we arrived they asked if we had reservations and was upset when we said no, even though there were no customers. We ordered simple avocado toast and eggs, bacon and biscuit. 1 hour later food finally arrived and was not good. Avocado toast was covered in balsamic drizzle instead of avocado and eggs were loaded with garlic. Never had garlic eggs and they were so strong I couldn't eat them. Waitress was super nice but that was all that I could say. Will not go back. Blowing Rock, please bring back our good restaurants. Very disappointed read more

These cupcakes are the yummiest!!!! Always new flavors and we love the cookie kits for the twins. We ordered a cake last minute for a birthday and it was delicious and beautiful. So awesome to visit ASU during graduation and find some familiar faces from the other store and the same offerings as the other one. Despite poor reviews, we chose Cupcrazed because there was virtually nothing else open for breakfast before 11am. You'd think on a Friday during "leaf peeper" season more places would be open, or those that are open would at least be adequately staffed. Nope. Our coffee was cold (even straight out of the carafe), our server was pretty useless (the owner took care of us, once our order was in), and the food wasn't hot or great. I'll go to McDonalds next time if I have to. read more

My husband and I have visited Cupcrazed a few times since they've opened. Our servers are always lovely and the food is delicious. However, every single time we have eaten here we have seen the owner berating her employees. I genuinely have not seen anything to this magnitude before. It's one thing to verbally reprimand your employees when they mess up but this was verbal abuse. I have also noticed that she is very negligent, sitting on her phone while her staff is running around stressed and clearly in need of her help or guidance. This place is in need of a strong leader to take hold of the reins and get them organized. On our third visit we decided we can no longer come back as this kind of behavior is too upsetting to watch. read more

First off, we are local year-round residents of Blowing Rock. The sweet little "run like clockwork " restaurant that was in this location for many, many years is no longer here. We miss it. We decided to have breakfast at Cupcrazed on a Thursday morning. We arrived at 8:05 and the "closed sign" was still up, although there was one other person inside ordering takeout. The hostess who looked to be a college student, wearing distressed jeans and pigtails, was surly and obviously not happy to be awake at this time of day. There was no greeting, no "hello or good morning " just a "Can I help you?" We asked to be seated inside and she told us that we would have to go upstairs if we wanted indoor seating. We opted not to navigate the stairs, but to sit outside instead. The outdoor tables and chairs were still very wet from the night's dew and had obviously not been prepped for use so we had to wait several minutes while she mopped off out chairs so that we could sit down. She disappeared after this and we did not see her again until some other customers came around ten minutes later. Our waiter who was very nice, but obviously less than well trained, arrived at the scene some five minutes, or so, later , and took our order for coffees and juice. It was ten minutes later that our coffees and juice arrived with no cream. We asked for cream and Splenda. Another five minutes , we were served cream, sugar and "Sweet and Low" - no Splenda or Stevia available. The coffee was now cold and for the duration of the meal, there was no offer of a refill. The juice was straight out of a carton and very, very sour. Our order was now taken for breakfast. No grits available. Another 35 minutes later, our breakfasts arrived, my stuffed French toast-his fried eggs and sausage, all less than warm and served on cold, very cold, plates. We never saw our waiter again until another group of ladies were seated. We had to ask for our check which was presented less than promptly, so needless to say, it will be awhile before we try to eat here again. Our wish for this new business would be the best, however, owners, you need to train your employees well. They cannot serve if they do not know your expectations. It only costs pennies to have your employees arrive 15 minutes early to remove the closed sign and prep the tables for the day. Serve nothing but quality food! Charge a little more and don't scrimp on quality. Owners, come out of hiding once in awhile. Make sure your employees are earning their pay. Wow! We had a mix up with our pick-up order so the owner graciously delivered the cupcakes to our party. She told us to keep the donuts we had inadvertently been given. The cupcakes were outstanding. The next morning we figured the donuts wouldn't be that great as they were a day old but turns out they were fantastic even a day later. I want to point out that Cupcrazed recently changed from just a bakery to a bakery AND restaurant, taking over the space from the old Village Cafe. I do understand that this was the first week that they opened their doors, but they were not prepared. People waited over an hour for food and drinks. We saw people get up and leave. As some were leaving, they told other people coming into the restaurant to turn around and leave. The servers and other waitstaff were INCREDIBLE and so kind. They walked us around the restaurant and talked to us about the house and the changes that they made. It made us feel so bad for the servers, who had no control over how fast the food was coming out or the quality. I'm giving it two stars because the servers were so sweet and kind. The food was fine. It wasn't great. It was very basic. They did not have jelly or butter for the toast. The menu is limited. It took forever to get. We ordered a to go order, and when checking on the status they just offered to refund it because it was not ready. Again, I feel for the waitstaff, but it was honestly very sad to see such a wonderful location turn into this. read more
