I can;t believe it took me so long to try this place! I was missing out! I thought it was just a coffee shop and it looked small. Wrong! this is a real delicious restaurant with amazing dishes (the sweet potato and quinoa bowl is amazing). A friend asked me to meet there and I was surprised that they have been and wine and a full menu. Went again the next day for brunch. Yummy mimosas, excellent egg dishes. Best thing: even though you walk up to order, they find you a table. If it is busy, there is a person managing the tables so you don;t have to search, wait, glare at other customers, or send half your party to scout a table while you wait in line. GO here. read more

Never, ever, make the mistake of going here and expect to drink a cup of coffee, enjoy a pastry, look at your phone or computer, on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday when they apparently prefer not to be the advertised european coffee house they hold themselves out to be. Big Mistake. You are assessed by the cashier and if you have a device, he/she will tell you to join the overcrowded area with no seats rather than the open area with seats. You should just accept that like higher property taxes. I looked the owner up and she boasts to be from Europe. No coffee house I ever went to rejected me before I had finished paying. My husband loves drinking anything expensive and green so this has become a go to breakfast spot... whatever makes him happy! The food is solid and great too, however, I will they had human sized water glasses rather than making me feel like i'm lining up three shots to get through a meal! read more

Favorite cafe ever. The most unique yet casual, and delicious menu with an amazing atmosphere and the coolest set up. Could stay in this place forever. Just awful. First off, I paid $7 for an avocado wrap that was barely larger than my fist. Then I paid $4 for a glass of orange juice (which I regretted immediately) and it was never brought out to me. After finishing my mini wrap, I went up to the counter to inform them and I was so rudely told that I was supposed to pick it up at the counter and that's why it was sitting there for the past 20 minutes. Well excuse me. First off, nobody told me that was the system. Second, if you're paying $4 for a glass of orange juice, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect it to be brought to you with your food. I'd also like to mention that our food was not brought out at the same time either. The last straw was when my friend showed up after the rest of us were already seated and he was turned away by the host. I realize at the time that we were seated, we only said 3, but there was clearly room for him to squeeze in for the last 10 minutes that we were there. I normally want people to try things for themselves, but please save your time and money and go somewhere else. read more

A nice spot but my experience this morning means I won't be coming back. Sat down at a table with my $20 breakfast including a breakfast sandwich, latte and fresh juice. Within two minutes a manager informed me I couldn't use a laptop computer at a table (I apparently needed to be in the "lounge" area) so I said I understood and I'd move to the lounge when I was done with my breakfast sandwich. Unfortunately the manager chose to come back within five minutes - before I was quite done with my breakfast - and insist that I close my laptop screen immediately. I did so and subsequently moved to a lounge table. Half the tables were empty and I hadn't been at my table more than ten minutes in total when the manager had come back a second time. People at the tables around me were even more surprised than I was at the very strict enforcement of this policy. Candidly I don't see a big difference between a laptop and using a phone or an iPad, or reading a newspaper for that matter. I'm guessing college students camped out doing school projects for hours at these tables in the past which may have led to this policy - but their choice of how to enforce this spoiled my breakfast. read more

Great place to do some work around Northwestern. The food is some of the best in Evanston and the staff is always friendly.

Very interesting concept. Sofas and tables. One could spend quite some time here just enjoying a coffee and snack while working on his or her computer. I thought the food all around was pretty good. The refillable coffee (costs more than just a cup) was decent although clearly the espresso drinks are what's pushed. Really enjoy the food, drinks and atmosphere at this location especially the delicious soups now that the weather has changed. Have a cortado, try the lentil soup on Mondays and finish it off with a delicious chocolate chip cookie. The vibe is extremely lively and the service is excellent! read more

Surprisingly delicious! I had the Chicken BLTA with the side salad and it was on point. The space is great makes me wish I worked from home. A new favorite in Evanston. this is an awesome place! i've gone twice--lunch and breakfast. the food was excellent both times, service great----timely and friendly. cool, hip vibe and yet warm at the same time. not pretentious. fun for lunch with a friend, or can be professional for a business meeting. brought my whole family for breakfast and it appealed to everyone--my kids (15 and 11) and my parents. highly recommend 2 thumbs up! read more

I've visited Cupitol several times. It has a wonderful bustling, warm energy, perfect for meeting up with friends or doing work. The food is okay. The avocado wrap is pretty tasty and a good go to. The omelets are weirdly buttery, and I wouldn't order them again. The roasted veggie and hummus sandwich was okay, though the bread was fairly burnt. If you're in the mood for something sweet, the Belgium waffle with banana and Nutella is really good, I think they offer a fair amount of Nutella and banana on the waffle. I like that they have a lot of bread options. You can ask for a different type of bread for your sandwich. Also, when you order a cup of coffee, you get one free refill. If you are a bit short on time when you're going for breakfast, no worries! The food comes out pretty quick! My Belgium waffle today took maybe seven minutes? Timing may very well depend on what you order. Speaking from experience, I've never had to wait long for my other orders either. TLDR: great environment, the food is okay... sort of a hit or a miss. We came for breakfast and loved it. The egg and bacon and egg and ham sandwiches were delicious. Kids got the waffles and pancake dishes. Wife also got a beet smoothie. Everything was delicious. Interior is very nicely done, too. We sat in the lounge area. Very fun! read more

I go here far too often for a chocolate croissant for breakfast. I know it's a place that many of my coworkers frequent as well, and I haven't heard a single complaint (I certainly have none!). The best part is the girl who works behind the counter. Sadly I still haven't learned her name, but I think I heard another customer call her Brenda once. She's the greatest. She remembers everyone's order, learns people's names, she always remembers what I told her the last time I came in even if it was like a week ago, and honestly I kind of want to be her friend. My boyfriend and I came here for brunch/coffee and were extremely disappointed. My boyfriend's chicken BLTA had more bread than anything else on the sandwich. My Spanish omelette was tasty, yet small for $11 price tag. I was most excited for my beverage- a chai latte. It was beautiful and Snapchat worthy, but tasted very watered down. My boyfriend's cold brew was mediocre at best. Almost $40 later, I would have been more satisfied with Starbucks breakfast. read more

My new favorite place in Evanston. Delicious brunch, great coffee and a relaxed/comfortable place to sit for a while.
