Small latte & Caprese Baguette
Lilian T.

Great pastry and cake selections, great welcome promos, friendly staff. Sandwiches and baguettes are a bonus. Coffee is not the best but still decent. It's not overly crowdy & relatively quiet. Wait time is usually under 3 minutes. Make sure you sign up on their app - their welcome promos are pretty generous, including 1 free pastry, $2 off a sandwich, $5 off for pastry+coffee combo, etc. (Can't use at once.) I've stopped by four days in a row. From what I've tried: - blueberry yogurt cake slice tastes great, though I'm not sure it tastes anything related to blueberry. The strawberry silces in the cake layers are fresh. - blueberry cream cheese pastry ($3.99): my favorite so far, fresh and flavorful. - pineapple brulee pastry ($4.99): decent and fresh. - strawberry supreme croissant ($6.29) isn't as fresh as I expected and I probably won't get again. - butter cream bread ($3.29): fresh, though I'd prefer the "bread" be a little softer. - red bean bread: fresh, though again I'd prefer the "bread" be a little softer. The outside part tastes a little bit dry. - caprese baguette ($9.59): fresh. I like it. - coffee is on the sweet side, as well as matcha latte. Price is about average or maybe slightly above - croissants are between $5-6.5. Their pastry selection is relatively large. They do sell out, so if you have specific things you want, make sure you come early enough. Environment is casual, with large windows good lighting. It looks pretty clean though there was one single fly that bothered my cake in one evening. Not sure where it came from.

I was so excited to find a Paris Baguette in Evanston as the first time I had their pastries I was blown away by the quality and flavor. However, my experience at this location was not the same. I got 3 pastries including a cinnamon twist, cherry Greek yogurt danish, and the pineapple brûlée. I was extremely disappointed at how hard the cinnamon twist was (I had to put it in the microwave for a few seconds to be able to chew through it so I ended up tossing it). I was very excited for the pineapple brûlée as it was my favorite pastry the last time I had Paris baguette and although it was still pretty good, it did not taste the same as the last one I had. The cherry danish was really good and perfectly balance so that was indeed my favorite this time around. The coffe was also pretty good. Given how great my first experience was with the Paris Baguette in Chicago, I'm hoping this was just a one time bad batch (of the cinnamon twists). Still a little disappointed though as the pastries are not cheap.

I've been to other locations but this is my first time trying this new location, and trying their coffee. I got the vanilla cold foam cold brew and it was sadly one of the worst coffees I've ever had. I actually bought two - one for my husband as well. Both drinks were thrown out. The pastries are worth a visit, but I advise staying away from the coffee.

I just wanted a baguette. It was so easy. I didn't even have to pay for parking. It is nice to have this so close.

It's a beautiful design and looking spot. I just expected more value. My family absolutely loves it and it's an automatic must buy for them.

Pricey, but a great selection of food--fruit extravaganzas, almond croissants, coffees. A great place to date a sweet tooth

I have a lot of thoughts on this place, and I really hope it is successful in Evanston. There has…read morebeen an influx of new bakeries in town lately and it's led to some tough competition. First, the good. The staff is welcoming and very friendly. I've only been in a couple of times, but have had very positive interactions with the workers each time. The croissants and sandwiches are really very good. The baguettes are crispy on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside. The ham they use is incredible. My family really enjoyed the raspberry croissants as well. The coffees are also solid. Now for the not so good. The presentation is not always the best. I'm mentally comparing this to That Little French Guy in Highland Park where presentation and consistency are top tier. Some pastries look a bit sloppy and the way they are laid out in the case isn't particularly appetizing. The space itself is not terribly well designed and doesn't really welcome you in. I believe this used to be a Chinese food lunch place, and it still very much has the vibe of a place you stop into to grab a quick lunch during the workday. When compared to Patisserie Coralie right down the street, it's not the kind of place you'd want to sit and hang out in. There may be some communication issues with the staff. I ordered two ham and cheese croissants about four separate times, and then they brought out a ham and cheese baguette. I was told there were no ham and cheese croissants today, so I ordered one baguette and one vienesse. When I got home, I found I had two baguettes. The baguettes were truly delicious, but it just wasn't what I ordered. As a very minor negative, the logo is so ugly I have a hard time taking it seriously. I'm not sure the name or the logo paint an accurate picture of what this place is -- a good quality French bakery. You also can't see the name anywhere from the outside so it's a bit confusing. There is definite room to improve, but I really believe this place has a lot of potential. I hope they're able to continue growing and are here for a long time.

On my search for the best baguette, I wandered in. I agree that the street presence isn't great…read more The space is huge and could have been a hangout but isn't set up that way. There's only one staff person who is really nice. I asked for the ham and cheese croissants but they were out. She recommended the baguette sandwich but that wasn't what I wanted. So I got the baguette. There's only the regular size no mini. I got it hole and warmed it up and was disappointed that it was on the light side not as dense as I expect from a french baguette. It tasted good and heat up nicely. Just a bit light and too airy.

The cakes were light and not too sweet but felt that it was too pricey. The shop is nestled in a little a mall strip so it's easy to miss. There is no place to sit so come here for great dessert after eating from other great restaurants in the area Staff was not very welcoming and they seemed hesitant to honor the yelp deal which made things very awkward. They were closed for over a week at time and on the day the Groupon expired. The cakes were mediocre. I saw a deal on Groupon and thought it would be a great opportunity because I needed a birthday cake. I bought three $10 Groupons. The week I needed the birthday cake, I went in during their business hours but there was a sign on their door that they were closed for about a week. I was so disappointed. I went back this week during business hours and again, there was a sign on the door that they were closed that day--the day the Groupon expired! The sign said they would honor Groupons for the next three days but unfortunately, that was only partially true. I went back two days later and the owner said I could only use one Groupon. She said I needed to come back two more times because they only honor one Groupon at a time. She also said that she would not honor the full price of the third Groupon. I had to explain that that was my third time there and that they were closed the previous two times during business hours. I asked to speak to the manager and she said she was the manager. I asked to speak to her supervisor and unfortunately, she said she was the owner. After arguing with her and explaining that I would have used all the Groupons before the expiration date had they been opened in the first place, she finally agreed to let me use the Groupons but she only honored two and the cash value for the third one. As the owner, she had the power to honor the Groupons but she just decided not to. That goes to show how much she cares about customer service. Also, I had driven 45 minutes each way just to get to this bakery three times. I spent 4.5 hours in the car! What a waste! It doesn't make sense to get this Groupon, especially if you don't live around Skokie and if you don't have time to make multiple trips. If you do, definitely call ahead to make sure they are open.

Their Coco Brew used to be one of my absolute favorite coffee drinks for years, up until recently. I'm not exactly sure when the recipe changed, because as far as I remember it still tasted the same through 2025. I've been busy this year and haven't come as often, but the last three times I ordered it, it was completely different. And since it was made by different baristas, I'm assuming this is a recipe change rather than just inconsistency. (Check the photos to see the differences!) The old version was much lighter, mildly sweet, and had that lovely coconut milk aroma. It tasted fresh, smooth, and really balanced. The new version is totally different. The first thing I noticed was the color. It's way darker now. And the taste matches: darker, more sour, and with a strange almost medicinal aftertaste (reminded of some cough medicine..) The gentle sweetness and mildness are completely gone. Now it somehow tastes strong, sour, and watery at the same time. What happened?? Please don't change something that was already so good. Even the ice seems different now. It used to have smaller ice pieces that filled the cup more evenly and let the liquid move through, so you got that really pretty layered look with the coconut milk and cold brew. Now it's large chunks of ice just floating on top. Anyway, this is just my little heartbreak over a drink that used to be so beautiful and delightful. Other than that, the vibe is still nice as usual, maybe a bit more crowded than before. The decor is still cute, and I've always liked the woody interior. It's also one of the brighter coffee shops in Evanston, with really nice natural light.
