I have passed this place a million times but have two other bakeries that I like so I never went in. Today I was craving a slice of cake and because this was in my path, I pulled over and went in. They have a number of cakes on display plus various cupcakes both in packs and individual, plus other pastries and holiday cookies and a small variety of cake slices, including tres leches, mocha and chocolate ganache. I chose the chocolate ganache and couldn't wait to try it. It was so moist and delicious and while I'm a chocolate lover, it didn't even need the chocolate icing! I also picked up a package of the holiday cookies as a gift for our neighbors and I saw the perfect cookie tray that I plan to go back and get to take to our holiday party at work this week. I must add that their prices are very reasonable for a bakery too!! I'm glad I stopped in and plan to be back as mentioned. read more

I bought a tres leches cake and some cookies for my kids. This is one of the best tres leches cakes I've had. It's perfectly moist and there was zero spillage on the tray or inside the box. It is also not too overly sweet. It was decorated beautifully as well. This is the first time I've ever seen my family eat an entire tres leches cake in one sitting. Everyone had two slices! read more

I have enjoyed cakes & treats for office functions & we needed cake to celebrate a coworker. We chose 2 7in cakes in the flavors that we knew would be a hit. First, a strawberry cake with chocolate ganache that is to die for. Perfect flavors, not too sweet & not too rich. It is just exactly right. Secondly, we chose a tres leches cake with fresh strawberries on top. We added & blue & pink dino cookie since the baby gender is a secret., Both cakes were delicious & crowd pleasers. We went last minute to get these & were accommodated so quickly, even with writing on the cakes (which was offered immediately). I'm so happy we got the cakes from Sweet Temptations & I am already wanting to return for more strawberry cake. I was also eyeballing the mocha cake! That may be the next one we try! read more

I was looking for pecan pies and I came across Sweet Temptations that bakes mini ones! It's super cute and is the size of my palm or the exact size of a Chinese egg tart! It makes a really cute gift and small dessert if you don't want a lot. I don't eat pecan pies often, but I enjoyed it! It wasn't too sweet and I really liked the crunch of the pecans! There were other baked goods in the store that I would come back to check out or try too! So I'll be back! read more

Four years ago I needed a cake at the last minute for an upcoming celebration. I went to Sweet Temptations solely based on the fact that it was the closest bakery to our house---and it was the most delicious cake ever! Now Sweet Temptations is the only bakery we use for birthdays and celebrations. Tip: be sure to try the whipped cream frosting--it's out of this world! I ordered some tres leches cakes for my wedding this summer and they were amazing. We wanted something more than the dry white cakes you usually get at weddings, and they came through and more. They decorated our cutting cake beautifully with sugar flowers and they worked with us to figure out how many sheet cakes would be necessary for our 110 guests. They delivered the cakes to the venue on time and our guests LOVED the cake - they went back for seconds and thirds! They were helpful, courteous and professional. Cute bakery that offer's Mexican baked good like conchas. I ordered a tres leches they kindly decorated it for me. The flavor was light, sweet and fluffy. It wasn't drenched in milk and had the right about of everything. The frosting was also light. The cookies were delicious. They crunchy but not hard and the flavor was good. Lately been going back and picking up cookies. Nice decorated sugar cookies from $1 to $2. This past week it was fall leaves, Halloween, and dinosaurs. Be sure to check the counter at checkout for the $1 ones but they might also be on the shelf. (Ask the staff for clarification on pricing since they might be in both places). Also on the counter are prepacked bags of decorated butter cookies and in the corner, sets of Mexican hot chocolate chip cookies (3 for about $3.50?) read more

I would highly recommend this place! I ordered a cake from here for my daughter's birthday and showed a reference picture. When we picked up the cake it looked amazing, exactly like the picture, it was very beautiful. It tasted just as good as it looked. It was very light, airy, and moist, very wonderful flavors. The customer service was excellent and very helpful and descriptive, they answered any questions I had about the process. Giving 4 stars because it's a bit pricey and a little more barebones (they don't have the decorating materials that you'd expect) for said prices but I must say, the cake I ordered was delicious! The cake was 10/10 for sure! I bought some of the pre-packaged cookies that were set out for purchase. They were stale and a little expensive. I didn't even get the pre-packaged cookie item that I wanted most because it was way too much money but I suspect I made the right choice since the ones I bought weren't that fresh. Maybe they can label the baked goods with baked on/sell by dates for people that want to buy. But again, I loved the cake I bought. Maybe the pre-packaged baked goods are going stale because people aren't coming in and buying them. So...I'd definitely recommend giving this bakery a shot with said caveats but also, maybe bake less pre-packaged goods so they're fresh for the grab and go customer. I'll definitely go there again but I'd love it if they only sold fresh baked pre-packaged goods. read more

Based on the Yelp reviews I ventured from my old go to for birthday cakes and tried sweet temptations. I am so glad I did! This place is adorable, clean and friendly. The prices are reasonable, especially for the quality that you get. I purchased a lemon cake and it was nothing short of divine. Flavorful but not very sweet and perfectly moist. The frosting was also very good! I have gotten used to the waxy, sugary gobs of goo that most places use. Everybody loved it. I can't recommend sweet temptations enough for everything from special occasion cakes to picking up a quick treat read more

If you want quality fresh sweets, look no further! Sweet temptations is one of cutest bakeries I've ever been too. All of their sweets are super yummy and taste very fresh, I'm normally pretty picky with my cakes but they've definitely checked off everything I was hoping for. Sweet Temptations made the most perfect Puffin Rock cake for our twins 3rd birthday. They were so easy to work with on the design and the cake turned out perfect! Not only was the cake gorgeous (the design exceeded my expectations), it was absolutely delicious - super moist without being too sweet. We loved that the buttercream it was decorated with wasn't too sweet - it went perfect with what was on the inside - and that was pure heaven. read more

The holiday and fruit pies were meh. The pumpkin was okay and the apple pie had too much cornstarch or gelatinous ingredient. I will not return. However, if you are in a pinch and need pies to bring, they may be available for last minute purchases. read more

We were looking for a really good Tres Leches cake to take to a dinner party at a friends house. Our first choice was Kristoffer's on 18th & Halsted, but they didn't have any extra cakes that we could grab at the last minute. Stepping out on a limb, we decided to get a cake here and it was AWESOME! Super moist, sweet, but not too sweet, and everyone loved it. This is our second time here....both times were charms. My kid loves their cakes and they did a great job every time. I don't have anything negative to even be remotely upset about. Also the order will be ready when they say. Let me repeat, the order will be ready when they say it will be ready. I ordered here a tres leches cake from here, it was my grandmas bday and I was in charge of cake. That honestly has to be one of the best decisions ever made!! Cake was perfect! It was soft and the cake wasn't soggy like other places tend to be, there was the perfect balanced amount of sugar in the merengue & cake. My whole family and I enjoyed it, I love the simple white look with roses. From now on this is my go to bakery, their long johns did not disappoint either. Sweet Temptations Surprise and delight! is what I felt about the small Evanston bakery Sweet Temptations last week. On Thursday I brought in a photo of a graduation cake that had charmed me on Instagram. It had been created in a patisserie in Paris, obviously for a girl or young woman. On the top was a flowered mortarboard with a pink tassel and starting at the bottom and climbing half way up were row after row of swirly roses in various shades of pink like wide ruffles on a petticoat. "Can you make this by Sunday evening, a red velvet cake with butter cream frosting?" I asked the baker, holding my breath because the job seemed complicated and the time seemed short. A moment's thought and then he answered "Yes." Even the mortarboard itself would be delicious he explained. He would make it of fondant and mold the cap part around a hidden Rice Crispie treat! My daughter (the graduate) and her guests and I could not have been happier with the looks and the taste of the cake. Many compliments and thanks to Sweet Temptations. Photos below. read more

My first time visiting this place was last year around this time. Cake was amazing. The size and taste was perfect which is why I decided to go back this year. Unfortunately, this go round was nowhere near the same as my last. I literally ordered the same everything and was charged the same price. However, this years cake was significantly smaller and did not taste the same-at all! I understand inflation but Jesus Christ. Won't be back! read more

Got a graduation cake and it was amazing. So easy to place the order, accommodating and just a BEAUTIFUL and extremely delicious cake. Red Velvet cake could be dry, but this cake was just right-perfectly moist with the exact amount of frosting inside, as well. My cashier was so nice. He looks like he might be a teenager. He let me know there's usually more bread. For some reason, I thought that was cute, considering there was a decent amount of bread there and that he was being a good salesman. I wish I could give this place more stars, but my cupcakes were disappointing. I got a chocolate and a yellow cake. The frosting tasted like it had been in styrofoam for a few days. This was the same for both cupcakes. I had to take the frosting off both of them. The actual cake was decent, but overall, not a great cupcake. I had four small cookies that were good. I will definitely go again and try something else. They are a local business. There were so many yummy looking things and with all these other amazing reviews, likely my cupcakes were a fluke. When I was in college we used to have a pre-finals week dorm event where everyone would gather in the common room to enjoy a big glass of milk and Sugar & Spice cookies - a delicious bit of comfort before the harsh reality of finals week set in. Oh, how I miss those days! I am partial to the M&M and the Double Chocolate varieties. Intelligentsia currently does not carry the chocolate ones but perhaps if enough people read this review and make the suggestion to management, we can bring about a cookie revolution. I promise it will be well worth the effort. If you visit their website, they have a bunch of gift options available, too. I know I certainly wouldn't object if someone bought me a box of cookies or brownies! ;)

Their Coco Brew used to be one of my absolute favorite coffee drinks for years, up until recently. I'm not exactly sure when the recipe changed, because as far as I remember it still tasted the same through 2025. I've been busy this year and haven't come as often, but the last three times I ordered it, it was completely different. And since it was made by different baristas, I'm assuming this is a recipe change rather than just inconsistency. (Check the photos to see the differences!) The old version was much lighter, mildly sweet, and had that lovely coconut milk aroma. It tasted fresh, smooth, and really balanced. The new version is totally different. The first thing I noticed was the color. It's way darker now. And the taste matches: darker, more sour, and with a strange almost medicinal aftertaste (reminded of some cough medicine..) The gentle sweetness and mildness are completely gone. Now it somehow tastes strong, sour, and watery at the same time. What happened?? Please don't change something that was already so good. Even the ice seems different now. It used to have smaller ice pieces that filled the cup more evenly and let the liquid move through, so you got that really pretty layered look with the coconut milk and cold brew. Now it's large chunks of ice just floating on top. Anyway, this is just my little heartbreak over a drink that used to be so beautiful and delightful. Other than that, the vibe is still nice as usual, maybe a bit more crowded than before. The decor is still cute, and I've always liked the woody interior. It's also one of the brighter coffee shops in Evanston, with really nice natural light.

I can recognize a donut (at least I think so), but with the rest, I couldn't even tell if they were sweet or savory. I grabbed three different pastries, including one that was recommended by the clerk. With half an exception, the feedback is generally the same. This is complaint #2: Except for the one that had a softer, yellower center, the dough was firm with very little give. There's nothing wrong with a little crispness, but in this case, there wasn't much (if any) flakiness. With all of this said, while I am open to returning and trying some more items, I don't see myself breaking down the door to come back or recommending this spot to friends and family.
