It's soul good! Soul Good Coffee is exactly what it says: independent coffee shop that has ethically sourced coffee and a welcoming space that supports the community. I enjoyed my Soul Sunny -- a chocolate covered banana latte (made with almond milk at my request), it tasted so good! Soul Good understood the Valentine's Day assignment I got their French silk-inspired cold brew, and it was such a fun seasonal treat. It had that rich, chocolatey depth you'd expect from a French silk pie, but still kept the bold smoothness of cold brew. The creamy foam on top added the perfect silky finish -- light, fluffy, and slightly sweet without overpowering the coffee. It felt indulgent but not too heavy, which I loved. Omg, it's finally open! I've loved Soul Good Coffee since their cute truck popped up around Skokie--at farmers markets, schools, and even giving teachers free coffee. Their mango lemonade is my go-to! Now they have a shop in Skokie with spacious indoor and outdoor seating makes it great for working, relaxing, or bringing kids along. Read this review as more of a 4.3/5 I really like this coffee shop. Since I was introduced last month, I've gone several times to drink hot chocolate and work. The baristas have been friendly and kind and the cocoa is great, if slightly expensive. When I can snag a good seat, the experience is even better. I have some suggestions to bump this place up to a 5/5, listed in order of importance: 1. Put some curtains (or tinted film) on those huge windows. Since the shop faces south, the sun becomes nearly unbearably blinding if sitting at one of the tables designated for laptop use. The seating options become more limited once you can't see your own screen. 2. Speaking of seating options, those itty bitty tables are too small for more than one person to use. :( 3. Adding charging ports to the big table would be incredibly helpful, as charging cords stretching across the floor is a tripping hazard. 4. I get that the nonworking among us need places to sit, too, but those adorable "nooks" in the back would be perfect for secluded working spaces, but they're currently listed as a "no laptop" area. :( 5. The for-here mugs are only available in the smaller drink size. I do realize that this all sounds negative--I mean, FIVE grievances?--but overall I do enjoy this new coffee shop and I will definitely be back! read more

I've been meaning to try Soul Good and was excited to find out they have a pop-up residency situation inside the Skokie Sketchbook location. (Which is extra nice because I don't really drink anymore, so it's nice ot have an option when meeting people at the brewery, although they aren't open the entire time the brewery is). I had a decaf americano and it was really good and priced similarly to other local coffee shops ($3.50 or $3.75 plus tax). I'm not sure what coffee beans they use, but there were Backlot bags of beans for sale on a table outside the coffee window, so perhaps they are getting them there (which would be awesome if they're supporting another local coffee shop). read more

Soul Good Coffee is an absolute favorite of mine! I am so excited that they have a brick and mortar location in Skokie. The coffee, beverages, and treats are delicious. You can really tell how much care goes into everything they serve. I especially love that their specialty drinks can be made with either a matcha or espresso base, giving everyone the chance to explore and customize drinks to their taste. My personal favorite is the Soul Breezy. I am excited to try all their new seasonal options, though! The ambiance is open and airy, making it such a relaxing yet lively spot to spend a morning. The staff are so kind and welcoming, always greeting everyone with a smile even when it's busy. Great potential and love having them in the neighborhood! I'm rooting for this place, especially since it's walking distance for me. I ordered a latte, empanadas, and a cinnamon roll. While nothing completely stood out as amazing, the food was decent and there is a lot of potential here. A few things could use some tweaking. The cinnamon roll had a really nice cream cheese topping, but the bread itself felt like it was lacking a bit. I love when they have a glaze and cinnamon, but the pastry part was just too dry. As for the empanadas, I ordered one lechón and one potato, but ended up receiving two potato ones instead. They were served warm, but I personally wish the crust had a littke crisp at least. It was still good but not sure I would order it again. I'll have to try the lechón next. I noticed they have the right equipment/machine to make empanadas crispy, so I think they just need to find that sweet spot for the time and temperature. I also completely understand how the order mix-up happened. It is very loud inside. Everything echoes, so it would definitely help if they added some decor or acoustic panels to the walls to soften the noise. I truly hope they get better with time. I'll definitely be back to give them another try! (P.S. To anyone who has been here frequently - any suggestions for their best coffee drink to try next time? I'm so glad they opened a location in our neighborhood! While their coffee is a bit more expensive than what I usually pay. It is worth it. They have good drinks and the staff is always so friendly. I also appreciate how much they give back -- from offering free coffee during Teacher Appreciation Week to raising money for a local family whose spouse was detained by ICE. Soul Good Coffee is a popular mobile coffee truck that offers ethically-sourced coffee and tea; they have pop-ups throughout the year, recently taking residency inside the Sketchbook Skokie. The Winter Specials menu included Soul Good, Soul Merry, Soul Jolly, Soul La La , Soul Bright, and Soul Hazy - we ended up ordering: +Soul Good - prepared with espresso, orange syrup, orange blossom water, cinnamon, and whole milk +Soul Bright - prepared with espresso, pistachio-honey syrup, almond milk, and a sea salt dust +a Chai Latte with almond milk - had a nice kick to it Note that all drinks are automatically prepared with whole milk, but they have skim and almond milk as substitutes. Drinks were good, but I wished that it was stronger; it was a little thin/watered down for my taste. Note that they are cashless! We learned that they found a permanent space that they'll be transitioning to in the spring/summer, so Skokie-ians have something to look forward to! Staff here are super friendly and welcoming! Plenty of seats inside, and there's also a 'beautification award-winning' patio in the front for when the weather is nicer. First time here, I didn't even know this place existed, but I'm so glad I do now. It's amazing. Very family friendly, which doesn't bother me, even though I'm older and so are my children, because they have little nooks where you can sit and have nice conversations with your friends and you don't even realize how busy the place is. Plus everyone there is so friendly and nice, the staff as well as the patrons. Their selections of coffees and teas are awesome and they have really good chocolate donuts. You go up to the counter and order your food, but even though there might be a line, it moves quickly and everyone is just so nice nice and in a great mood. They also have larger tables for families and groups of friends. It was my first visit, but definitely not my last. You must check this gem out. read more

This only concerns their use of the Joe app. Which unfortunately is not ready to be consumer facing sadly. 1 no default sugar free setting for drinks that have this as a possibility. I love their Chai but mine is their tea powder (thanks for not using tazo 30 Gms of sugar premixes) sugar free vanilla and milk. There is no " start no added sugar" option. 2 ordering on the app. Is clunky, choosing something I already ordered gets a "no longer available" warning. And the same day I can walk in and get the item. 3 I can't redeem unattainable discounts on the app and they are not available in the store...yikes. I really love their food and drinks, but if you just can't make the online stuff work don't offer it, I hope this is helpful my friends. Sugar free chai is awesome! read more

We are so delighted to have Soul Good coffee in our neighborhood! The coffee is delicious. The people who work there are warm and friendly and the service is great. The space is comfortable and inviting: regular coffee, cappuccinos and a really delicious chai tea latte are all top-notch. I've had their gluten-free muffins and they are delicious as well. The only drawback is that the space is very reverberant and can get really loud. My guess is that they will figure that out as they continue to grow as a coffee shop. This place is community centered. The owner lives in the neighborhood and treats her guests like they are her neighbors. Zelda's, the kosher catering company that is already well established in the neighborhood is opening a place right next-door to Soul Good very soon. read more

I discovered this place in a food truck at the Skokie Farmers Market and enjoyed ordering my coffee from them whenever I went to the market. The staff is super friendly and even remember my name even though I don't come too regularly and I know they have many regular customers. they offer a variety of coffees that change frequently and are very creative and unique from other coffee shops. This is our favorite place in Skokie and their coffee and other drinks are outstanding. They have a wide variety of drinks filled with shots of espresso or even one if you prefer, like me! I love their Matcha drinks too and their Chai Latte's are super awesome! Today I got an Almond Apple Danish and a delicious Soul Merry which filled me with joy! They have a variety of milk alternatives and my favorite is Oat Milk in any of my drinks. What I love about this place also is their customer service and their attentiveness towards their clients! They always greet you with a friendly smile and there's always room for chatting and catching up on how you're feeling/doing on that particular day!
