I placed two separate orders to the tune of roughly $200. One order was 5 dozen assorted cookies I planned to bring to my office that regularly supplies food and likes to support local businesses. The second order was a 9 pack specifically for my wife's birthday. When I went to pick the cookies up I was given 4 boxes each with an individual receipt attached which I imagined was the contents. I took the cookies and dropped off all of them in our break room except the box with the receipt for the separate order for my wife's birthday which listed her cookies. My office loved the cookies a they were gone within a couple hours. Unfortunately when I got home and opened the box showing my wife's cookies it did not contain a single cookie she eats. The separate orders had been combined and the receipts did not correctly reflect the contents of the two orders. Sadly her disappointment was visible. I went out of my way the next day to go back and purchase a new box of cookies with what she had wanted. I detailed this on the order form through the app and was told I would hear from someone in 48 hours. Well past that now I have heard from no one. Insomnia Cookies is located in a Main Street in Evanston but if you blink you may just miss it. Once you go in, there are two screens worth of menus. They have classic cookies, or deluxe cookies. Naturally I ended up getting a mixture of both. Their mint chocolate cookies are one of my favorites - imagine mint chocolate ice cream sandwiched between two mint chocolate cookies. Always a plus when an establishment has street parking. First time trying this place out and prefer this location due to proximity vs. Chgo locations. Everyone commenting it's small and well, it is, but it's also not meant to be eaten there. The lady who took my older seemed over her job. While she wasnt rude, she just seemed distressed... She was the only one there so maybe she was just overwhelmed, which brings me to my most impt point and why I only gave this place three stars... The worker seemed to be more preoccupied with taking care of delivery orders than customers in front of her... Saw an ad for this place on Instagram I just had to try. Visited the Evanston location a week ago with my husband, I wish I hadn't because now I can't stop thinking about their INSANELY delicious cookies. We ordered the chocolate chip, peanut butter, Brookie and salted caramel cookie. Not one was a disappointment. They are clearly made with high-quality ingredients. You can taste the brown butter, the cookies are served warm which melt in your mouth. The shop is very cute, love all the neon signs. There was a woman working behind the counter. My daughter and I go to the location near Loyola on the north side and someone told her that a store opened in downtown Evanston. We were across the street at Kilwin's and decided to stop in. I love that they keep all of the flavors warm and ready. We got a 6 pack which was just over $10.00. They box the cookies in cute little pizza boxes. And they are delicious! Seriously good cookies!! I imagine they get a lot of business from the Northwestern students. Plus they're open super late. What a treat! They are a bit pricey , but we love them. read more

COVID-19 UPDATE 6/6/21- Masks are required for entry. A maximum of 2 guests inside at a time. Other relevant info- Card only, no cash payment. No sitting areas inside or out. Service: quick and polite. Cookie was ready for me in less than 1 minute as they had them on stand by in a warming oven. Food: pretty good and not as gooey or fattening as I thought it would be, but rather warm and chewy with just a hint of a crunch; my kind of texture. Had the strawberry cheese cake cookie (actually a misnomer which is part of the reason for -1 star because it's actually a dried cranberry and white chocolate with no strawberry or cream cheese). Value & ambiance: $2.21 with tax for a classic cookie which is not too high, not too low. Inside was well air conditioned and cool, but lack of seating inside or out was kind of a way of saying, "buy some cookies! Now leave." Also very tight inside there and only 2 people at a time made me feel rushed to get inside, glance at the menu and make a decision as opposed to checking out the menu while I wait in line. read more

So, yes it's open despite it looking like it's closed from the street and I'm not talking about a passing glance while you're driving, we were right in front of it wondering if it had just closed or maybe was about to open when we saw a group of kids head in. I've been to Insomnias before and since but this is probably the smallest space I've seen/been to. The best way I can describe it is an indoor walk up counter However, because the space is so small it smells like cookies so that's a plus. They also have ice cream-it's been a while since I've been to one so that was new, and I got an ice cream sandwich with their chocolate chip cookies, pretty good. From their list of cookies and ice creams, you can order just the cookie, just the ice cream, or make an ice cream sandwich with your choice of cookies as the bun! Wanted to go with the double chocolate chip cookie but they were out :( Regardless, that sandwich was huge. So big that I thought it's probably big enough to fill you up like a meal. The chocolate chip cookies were so warm, buttery, soft, moist, and chewy. It was so good and rightfully so because it seemed like a cookie that was freshly made not too long ago. And as I had the bites of chocolate chip cookies, the cold, and creamy vanilla ice cream kicked in and blended with the cookies to make things even better. I thought I had like 2 or 3 scoops of ice cream. It was just that big of an ice-cream sandwich. Wow, it was great! There is no picture because I was too busy eating it. I don't think there was a place inside the establishment where you can sit and enjoy these sweets as the place wasn't that spacious, but I personally think that's understandable. Now as for the pricing, it wasn't very nice. I was on the fence about whether to give a 3 or 4 star because of the pricing but since it did taste great, I think a 4-star review is an appropriate one. Every time we called (for nearly two hours) asking for status the staff kept telling us they don't know when and if a driver will be available to deliver our order. So we just canceled the order. My friends and I ordered insomnia for the first time last night since we were craving dessert but didn't want to go anywhere. We ordered a half a dozen cookies and added the deal of the day, three free chocolate chunk cookies, which is a magical deal. We went downstairs to wait for the delivery person and he showed up really fast. He showed up on a bike with the cookies in an insulated pack on his back. Everything was great until we got in the elevator and opened the box. They must have been sideways in the pack because there was a pile of cookies melted together on one side of the box. The cookies still tasted great but we had trouble deciphering what was what, and a few of them were minty because the mint one must have slid into them on the journey. This is such a little gem in Evanston! They're literally open until 3am and do a final delivery at 2:45am. Cookies are fresh, gooey, and taste delicious. They also offer ice cream and some fixings to go on top. My favorite cookie right now is the s'more. It's Soo good. Just be careful as your hands might get a bit messy from the melted chocolate. I had cookies in store and also did delivery since my husband loved them so much. They literally got to my place in less than 7 minutes from when I made the order. I'm amazed and delighted. Great late night treat on those days when you need a sugary fix but can't feel bothered to go out. 4 stars because the prices are a little high. I work for a large retail corporation and ordered cookies online on March 5 to be delivered to an event that we were hosting for soon-to-be graduates at Northwestern University. The cookies were scheduled to be delivered today, March 9, at 11:30am. I received a confirmation email upon ordering them and assumed everything was set. When 11:30am rolled around, no cookies were to be seen. 12:00pm... still no cookies. In fact, I never received our delivery order. As if this wasn't frustrating enough, I didn't receive any communication from Insomnia regarding this. When I called to see what happened (and get refunded for the cookies for which I had already paid but never received) I was put on hold and then hung up on. I called back and was informed by an employee that someone "missed their shift" which is why I didn't receive the delivery. I asked if I was ever going to receive any sort of communication about this and the employee simply said, "I don't know." As mentioned in the beginning of this review, I work for a large retail corporation. So, believe me when I say, I get it-- things come up, mistakes happen, etc. and, at the end of the day, some hungry college students missed out on some free cookies-- not a huge deal. What has me leaving this one-star review (zero stars if that were an option) is the complete and utter lack of professionalism regarding this. The fact that it was on me to call Insomnia and investigate what happened is beyond unacceptable. It would be one thing if the employee on the other end of the phone took any sort of responsibility for this (or, GASP, apologized for the mistake) but she showed zero remorse and zero concern. Working for a retailer, I know that this is a situation that should have (at the very least) been escalated to a manager but, nope, instead I received a "unique coupon code" that entitles me to "6 free traditional size cookies with any $6 minimum purchase."
