Wowww, who remembers the self-serve frozen yogurt trend in the early 2010s? Froyo shops used to pop up left and right and now so many have closed down. I've always been a sucker for this frozen treat, so I'm glad Cups is still around. I visited the Fair Lawn location on a Friday evening. The store is bright and colorful with some seating in the back. They have about 8 self-serve machines with over 20 different flavors - fruity, nutty, chocolate, tart, decadent, etc. They have over 50 kinds of toppings ranging from candy to fresh fruit to syrups to cakes. You grab a cup, choose your flavor(s), grab the handle, and swirl away! Top off your froyo with as many toppings as you want, BUT just be aware that it's $0.78 per ounce. It's super easy to rack up $$$ AND calories on this treat. This location also sells ice cream and allows you to build your own ice cream sandwich. The store was very busy at the time and packed with families, kids, and teenagers. A little chaotic. There were two employees and they definitely could've used another hand with running the store. I asked one if I was able to sample some flavors and she told me "they ran out of sample cups". Something in me told me she was lying LOL. Probably my BS detector. So I asked the other employee for samples and what do ya know... She sweetly told me she was going to run to the back to get me some. I sampled two flavors that I usually get at all froyo stores: Eurotart and Salted Caramel. I have a huge sweet tooth, but these were sickeningly sweet. Wayyyyy too much sugar with artificial flavors. What really threw me off was the consistency and texture. They were SO ICY that I could see the individual ice crystals. It was nothing like what froyo should be - soft and creamy. I was really looking forward to getting a cup, but the service and mediocre froyo turned me off. So I walked out empty handed. I'm glad I sampled it before I bought anything because I would've been annoyed for dropping $$ on bad froyo. I might give them another try in the future, but I can see why their rating isn't so high. read more

Every single time I come to this location, it's painfully understaffed. It's honestly embarrassing. On my most recent visit, the entire store was basically being ran by one employee stuck at the register trying to do the job of an entire team. This isn't a one day thing either, it's a consistent problem. Management clearly doesn't care about staffing, customers, or even over working their employees. Watching one person struggle while a line builds is uncomfortable and frustrating. If you value your time at all, avoid this location, unless you enjoy waiting in line forever. I hope the manager sees this so he or she can get their store running properly, it's honestly a joke. read more

I love ice cream anytime of the year, even when it's snowing outside. I went to CUPS and got myself a 10 oz of delicious goodness. I mixed a couple of the fruity and chocolate flavors. The yogurt was sour and melted as if the machine was not working correctly. The employee was aggressive for no reason. So I asked for the name of the manager because he did not understand what I was saying, he was bacislly harassing me. He would not give me contact for manager or his name. It is a very hot day. People should be able to eat inside without feeling harassed. He then accused me of staring at him when I was simply trying to run after my toddler who was trying to flee the store. There was literally no one else in the store and a very elderly woman was trying to use the restroom and he denied her. Making her walk to a different store in over 100 degree weather. No compassion. Fair Lawn store had hours until 10PM however the doors were locked at 9:40pm! Very frustrating if they want to be out by 10 change the hours to 9:30 but do not close and lock up 20 minutes early especially since it was a weekend! read more

Went to cups on a hot day to get a sweet treat with my younger kids and saw the worker was sitting on the counter the whole time on her phone and making obnoxious phone calls while simultaneously "serving" customers. This is very unprofessional and unsanitary as she is sitting on a counter that serves FOOD. I feel disgusted to eat here again as I don't know where else these workers may be sitting. She was giving dirty looks most of the time and making my kids uncomfortable. There is a huge lack of respect and etiquette and I will most definitely not be coming back read more

We drove 25 mins out of our way to come here. We showed up at 8:30 PM when it says they close at 9 PM, and this location was already closed. The workers told us they were closing early due to the air quality outside. So it was affecting the frozen yogurt inside? Sounds like the workers just wanted to close and go home early. Cups is within walking distance of my job, so my coworker and I decided to drop by on our lunch break on a hot Friday. Inside is very clean, and the employees are friendly. sometimes the machine takes a couple of seconds too long to send out the fro yo. They have a wide variety of flavors and toppings. 62 cents an ounce seems like a lot, but there are coupons you can get from the Valpak mailers or the Valpak website. It's great for a quick and somewhat healthy treat. read more

I like Cups- mind you they don't have the favorites I love like Taro or Red Bean or Lychee fruit- but that's because Ii am no longer in California the saving grace is they have the little bursting boba balls that make up for it. Evidently this is not the rage in the east coast- but its catching on thank goodness. They only have 1 size cup, odd but from a marketing perspective genius- filler-up! I like this store. The staff is friendly and the place is clean, they have some tables and chairs to sit in. They have different flavors to choose from. My favorite is the strawberry which is not only very good but has no sugar added. If you want even sweeter, pick the the pistacio and peanut butter jogurt, they are also so yummy. Then you can add different kinf of candies, choccolate or fruits, and/or toppings. The price of the cups are reasoneable. Just your standard fro-yo establishment run by a bunch of high school-aged teens. I didn't expect much from the flavors since its winter and most people aren't going out in 10 degree temps for a cold treat... but oh, then there's me. Anyways, everything is always pretty clean and they have all the toppings you could want. I was looking for the little cups to taste a flavor or two but, I didn't see any so that stunk. Regardless I went with my usual: vanilla, brownies, cookie dough, walnuts, and oreos. Always hits the spot. There is also a pretty large candy bar towards the back where you can make-your-own bag and pay by the pound. Even though the teen attendants are nice, sometimes I wish there was an adult around. There is something off about walking into an establishment where the people behind the counter are talking about what happened between last period and their softball practice or gossiping. I LOVE Cups Frozen Yogurt! That being said, this location is not my favorite. My friend and I had a buy one get one free coupon and decided to go to this location because it was close to her house. Walking up, I took a closer look at the coupon and noticed it was pretty much valid at ALL of the other locations except the one where we were at. We still walked in hoping that they would still honor the coupon as a courtesy. We walk in and the girl working the counter immediately said they wouldn't. Part of me gets this, but the other part of me wanted them to provide exceptional customer service and just let us use it... I mean come on, the free yogurt would have been less than $5. On top of that, the girl working had a stink face the entire time and looked like she hated life. It really irks me when people look and act miserable at their jobs. Like I mentioned, Cups is one of my favorite yogurt places. I'll be back for sure but I'm going to make the farther drive to the Bergen town center location next time. I don't usually write reviews for food establishments, yet alone a frozen yogurt store, but I had a wonderful experience at Cups. I was immediately greeted by two very friendly workers with warm smiles. The atmosphere of the establishment was clean and inviting. The price for frozen yogurt is 52 cents/oz, not bad. Not only can you fill a standard cup for this amount, but you can also get a "waffle bowl" for the same amount, no extra charge! Needless to say... that's what I did. I filled my cup, well "bowl", with cake batter and chocolate classic frozen yogurt. I topped it with cookie dough, thin mint cookies, Hershey chocolate chips, miniature M&M's, hot caramel, and whipped cream. Delicious!! My order came to $6.62, but I had a $1 off a $4 or more purchase coupon, which they gladly accepted, and my order came down to $5.62. The staff informed me that they are accepting all coupons and promotions. (This is good news for me when I have another sweet craving!!) I was very happy with my yogurt, the very friendly staff, and the clean atmosphere. Side note: the Cups in Clifton is very dirty and has a rotten oder throughout the establishment. They don't paricipate in a lot of the special promotions that other Cups locations are part of. The one by the Bergen Town Center is much better. Made a special drive here (which actually took me past the other Cups location) for a disappointing discovery. Also, the parking lot of this strip mall is very unsafe. A bit expensive but the young people they hire are so helpful and bubbly that you feel the energy and you are taken back to your childhood days where you can eat anything you like without gaining weight and really end up filling up that cup with goodies!! Just left Cups at 9:40pm Saturday after getting some yogurt. The toppings here are usually stale especially the gummie bears, chocolate bar not sure it is snickers because it's hard and chewy, the Reese toppings are chewy and the walnuts are way too sweet. Please consider refreshening your toppings bar after a certain time don't wait until closing: if the toppings are out from open to close they will be stale. Hello, I visited the Fair Lawn store on July 30th 2020 around 7pm. My 15 year old brother has severe food allergies including peanuts, tree nuts, and egg. Frozen yogurt is one of very few desserts that he can enjoy because some ice cream's contain egg. I have visited this store multiple time with friends and I entered the store last night with my mom hoping to get frozen yogurt for not only ourselves but also for my brother. We were VERY disappointed to see that "Chocolate Classic", one of the ONLY flavors that my brother can enjoy because of his food allergies, was in the same machine as "Peanut Butter" and could also combine to make "Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup". For children and adults with food allergies, vanilla and chocolate are one of the few flavors that they can enjoy without having to worry about cross contamination. My brother can't even get toppings on his yogurt because of the fear of cross contamination and to visit the store last night and see that we couldn't even get him frozen yogurt AT ALL was extremely frustrating. When my mom explained to the workers our situation and kindly suggested that they reconsider the placement of these flavors, the workers looked like a deer in headlights, offering almost no reassurance or sense of understanding. We have visited other yogurt stores in Bergen County and not ONCE have we ever come across chocolate being placed with a flavor like peanut butter. I'm going to be a senior at Penn State University, studying to be a teacher, and have worked with children in multiple settings including a day camp for 6 summers. Each summer I had a child in my group with some kind of food allergy. When you tell a young child that they can't have a certain food, its extremely difficult for them to understand why, especially when they see all their friends enjoying it. I hope that you take my experience and make changes because until then I cannot see myself going back to a CUPS store. read more
