They were supposed to trim a laurel hedge, but decided to only trim it as far up as they could reach without bothering to do the upper couple of feet. It is a horrible mess. They were supposed to re-gravel the driveway, but, brought such a fine-grade gravel that it was more dust than stones. I spoke about that and Sam Hill, the owner, said "It'll be fine once it rains." NO it's not. Most of the "gravel" blew away. It's a lumpy mess. I had also specified that I wanted the gravel to go all the way out to the edges of the current drive. I even said "I want it wide." Wasn't done. I complained and Sam said, "It looks like a nice, strip up the middle." He said if I wanted it out to the edges, he could write up another bid!!!! I had gone out the day before and weeded and made the edges of the drive very clear. These lazy people didn't even bother to move a trash can that was at the side: they just left it un-graveled. They didn't spread gravel over the entire area that is the turn-around either. You can see where they just put their gravel around in patches when they thought they could get away with leaving the old gravel. They cut a 50-year old lilac down to the ground for no reason at all. Apparently, Sam's parents own a nursery, so he "made it right" by putting 2 inch tall cuttings in its place. I objected because lilacs are very slow growing. Sam said "Oh, no...they grow really fast." NOT TRUE. I then went to a nursery and picked out a 4 foot tall lilac that would still not make up for the towering one that had been destroyed, but would be better than cuttings. Sam said he'd go get it. Well, he must have gone back to mom and dad again. They planted a one foot tall weakling that is now dead. I wanted them to plant something to mask my neighbors fence from view. I said something flowering, like a dogwood or cherry. I expected someone who calls himself a landscaper to know plants; to know what would grow in the space indicated. I babied that tree for months, but...it's now dead, too. So, thousands of dollars went for damage and ignorance and laziness and refusal to repair what they ruined. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE.

He left ruts on both sides of our driveway and rolled over decorative rocks trying to manipulate his rig. He left his trailer blocking the road so neighbors couldn't get out, for multiple days. He sent us 1/16 of the amount then said, this is your fault, don't contact me again." If you want communication this is not your man. If you want someone to do exactly as you ask, this is not your guy. If you want to talk about how he draws conclusions this person will not communicate anything except your payment. Now. Full amount. With signed contract that he can then dissolve at his whim. You may be able to work with him but just know his ego is driving the bus.

He arrived with his crew and they started clearing while Calmo went to pick up the plants I had purchased along with the amendments. He returned and we laid out the plants. I noticed he had not brought the rototiller or the soil amendment and asked. He skipped my question. He asked if I had planned on landscape fabric or bark chips. He said he had bark chips. I had not intended on it, but had 8 bags in the garage. He said we needed 20 more. I was getting frustrated that our visions were not meshing. We bought more mulch. Skipping to the end, my yard looks nicer, but I did not get what I wanted. He tried to push me towards getting sod and also having him put in a sprinkler system. So I decided to use Mint again for landscaping work where I had to install brick and shrubs on my…read morefront porch. When they started the project the day of Halloween, the landscapers showed up very early. It only took a few minutes for them to remove the dead shrubs. At first the front porch looked pretty bad because of the bare porch. The next day, landscapers returned to apply more sod and start the brick work. When they laid the brick, my porch started to look more even. The shrubs like blue fescue, lavender, fountain grass and azalea were installed. Once that was done, mulch was applied to the porch and side yard. Everything was basically complete except for a couple boulders to be installed. Unfortunately it did take a couple weeks for it to arrive. I emailed Josh(owner of Mint Landscapes) checking on the status, and the boulder was installed the very next day. Now my front porch looks AMAZING!! My neighbors always compliment me about my porch. I'm extremely happy about the work they did. Although Mint is not the cheapest in the area, they do provide excellent work and are very courteous. I'd highly recommend them.
