I've heard a lot of great things about this bar, but unfortunately it's very difficult to find. I'm not sure if the difficulty arises from it's somewhat hidden location or my inability to read (I'm having this review transcribed). Additionally, given the restaurant's close proximity to Fox elementary school, my ability to be present in the bar creates some legal issues (it's a long story). One of the best waitresses ever works here (I'm not sure of her name, but blonde hair usually in a ponytail). Burger night is a good deal! An older interior, on a corner with high ceilings gives this place a classic feel. Outdoor seating is a plus, too. read more

Came in for brunch and waited for 45 min. I asked the waitress if the kitchen had started on our order and she said yes. She came back 5 min later and said they had not started on our food so we could leave if we wanted to. She and the staff were unapologetic and rude. We left. The place was not even full! Very cute patio area outside. The food was ok- they had a large selection of burgers and sandwiches to choose from. My friend and I split an order of nachos and a Jamestown sandwich (crab cake sandwich with aioli). The nachos were very sub par- definitely something you could make at home. On the other hand, the crab cake sandwich was really good! When we ordered and told the waitress we'd like to share it, it came out of the kitchen already split for the both of us on two plates. Very thoughtful. The aioli that they used on the crab cake complimented it really well. Overall, a good experience and awesome service. read more

This place has become a classic Richmond Fan bar.... Their burgers are awesome - they're 1/2 price on Wednesdays. It is not a big place, which is typical of a bar in the Fan, but their food and drink prices are great. Went for the first time this month and was very pleased. The outdoor seating area is very, very cute and service was great. The menu wasn't particularly exciting (nor was the happy hour selection), but the salad I had was heads and shoulders above anything else I've had at that price point. read more

Curbside is one of the few bars in Richmond that I will frequent for the food. it offers $0.50 cent wings on Monday nights. There are not many flavors (hot buffalo, bbq, spicy bbq, and lemon garlic). They make up for the lack of selection by doing the wings very well. They taste great, are huge, and come with free ranch or bleu cheese. On Tuesdays they offer 3 tacos for $2. You can chose form soft or hard chicken or beef. Wednesday is 1/2 price burger night. Thursday and Friday offers homemade entrees, and they serve brunch on weekends. This is in addition to a full menu. In addition to food that is far cheaper than it tastes they have a good happy hour from 5-9 PM on weekdays. They have $1 off draft beer, $3 rail drinks, and a special on wine. The only downside is the potential for long wait times if you arrive too late in the evening. read more

Have enjoyed this place for many years. Great servers and bartenders, good food and drink specials, etc - an awesome Fan bar. But their hiring of bouncers for weekend nights is highly questionable (locals know the story of a previous one but no need to mention here). Recently on a night with no outside line, watched a small woman get physically grabbed by a much larger, aggressive doorman. It's possible she didn't know they were carding as it was still early and the bouncer was talking with someone else slightly away from the door but when she tried to walk inside, he ended up forcibly grabbing her and was very confrontational. Simple solution would have been to politely ask his patron for her ID. After checking the 21+ aged woman's ID, he finally let her in without apology or any sense of what happened was abnormal. This level of aggression is simply inappropriate for a small, neighborhood restaurant and bar. read more

Mostly scratch made food, very friendly staff, a patio, local clientele.... whats not to like? Menu is American pub grub but they do a good job with it. Not really a vegetarians place. They go the other way focusing more on decadence than health ie "The Unicorn Burger" made with ground beef and bacon or from their brunch menu "The Redneck Heart Attack." Just walked into this place with my daughter and it is fabulous. Ericka was our waitress and was she ever on point! My coffee cup was always full she stopped by frequently to check that we had what we needed. The food was delicious. I had the crab omelet and my daughter had the crab benedict. I just wanted to start by saying the food is superb. Superb. The ambiance of the joint was stellar. Stellar. The soundtrack was great heard some great throwbacks like Santeria and halfway gone and the lighting would be perfect to wine and dine a girl but it was a little to dim for getting together with my buddies. Buddies. I had a major issue with the waitress' voice frankly it was irritating. Irritating! Don't get me started on the wreaths! Wreaths! The neighbors had the audacity to leave the Wreaths up and Christmas was 3 months ago. Ago. Also there was a man at the bar who had major plumbers crack. Crack. There was also a bus stop outside the restaurant and we were burdened with looking at the side of a bus for 2 minutes. Minutes. There was also an unnecessary amount of tvs and the vcu halftime show was absurd. Absurd. They raced babies and they're was only white babies. I feel as if they should have a variety of babies however that is neither here nor there. There. The restaurant was a good time with some good guys and I will be back. read more

We were there at the tail end of St Patrick's Day, so I was prepared to give the staff and product a little slack but overall not a positive experience. The waitress left our food in the service window for a long time and we had to flag her down for her to notice it was sitting there. We ordered two "Lynchburgers" (FYI, the Texas Tavern of Cheesy Western fame is in ROANOKE, the Texas Inn and its fab chili is in Lynchburg) cooked to different done-ness levels. The waitress forgot to ask which was which and clearly just guessed- but both the burgers were way overdone anyway. The waitress was overall not attentive and the food, while fair, was too cold by the time it got to us to be really good. read more

I love curbside! I am a little biased because I live within walking distance, but it is fantastic! They have great deals on drinks and Monday- Wednesday they have cheap cheap food! Burgers with a side for 5$, yes please! When it's nice outside, it's a great place to sit out on the patio! Hanover and Robinson is not a terribly busy street so it's not loud and you can easily chat with friends. Service is fast and the servers are nice. Love it! read more

The weekend breakfasts here are traditional but in a great way. Other spots get more pub, but if you want something delish without a wait, do Curbside. When I first entered the Curb stomp cafe I noticed it smelled of old wood and had a very old time ambiance. Ambiance. I was very excited for Sunday brunch, but unfortunately they chose to move the end of Brunch from 3pm to 2pm, very disappointing. Disappointing. However, I was serenaded with the wonderful sights and sounds of Olympic Cross Country Skiing. Skiing. A pivot was made to the lunch menu and everyone at the table indulged in some wonderful sandwiches. Sandwiches. The Breakfast club was particularly interesting as it was cut into very dainty triangles and had fantastic presentation. Presentation. Tots: Crunchy, Fries: Golden. I do have some problems with the Side Slap Cafe. The only music that played was dubious and choppy Alternative music. The plants on the window sill seemed fake, they could have been real, but they seemed fake and that really weirded me out. There was a notable lack of liquid food options. Which did not tickle my fancy. Fancy. At the bar there were 5 middle aged people all wearing jeans and drinking way to much beer for 2:30pm on a Sunday afternoon. Weird. There was also a ludicrous claim that their Hidden Valley Ranch was a "Homemade dressing." The icing of the creepy cake was that their pickles were cut very thick and were not crinkle cut. Very unsettling. I guess the best way to sum up the Couch Potato Cafe was as I was leaving a women walked in and said to her boyfriend "Really, this place." Final thoughts: Solid meal and good dining experience, but how can Reynolds be both a Boston Bruins fan and a Montreal Canadians fan?? Food for the thought and for the mouth. read more
