This is definitely a place where everyone knows your name to have a very relaxed time. Gus' seems like a spot where you might meet up with some friends before having a night on the town or meet up with them to watch whichever games are on the big screen TVs. I stopped by here to meet an old friend and had a good time. I arrived a few minutes before my friend and even managed to spark up a conversation with a couple of regulars without even trying. So this let me know that the regulars are pretty chill. Our bartender (a young blonde lady) was wonderful in all aspects of serving folks at the bar (and beyond). I thought the drinks (I pretty much stuck with gin sodas) were very reasonably priced. Since this was more of a drinking excursion, I did not have a chance to try any of the bites. But as one of the signs suggested, I will have to try the personal Greek pizza when I return. read more

Rolled up here after Wood & Iron Gameday; not sure why this place caught my attention; guess I wanted to watch the 4PM NFL games while continuing to sip on beverages. After getting seated, it took a while to get my beer and shot despite sitting directly in front of the beer taps where the bartender could see me. After getting my drinks and sipping them, I couldn't help but notice the nasty smell of cigarette smoke in the bar area. There were also dirty dishes next to me that weren't cleared. I pushed them away from me and the bartender noticed and cleared them. Shouldn't that have been done earlier? I'm sure this is a nice venue and it means well. But not my cup of tea. To be honest my Steve and I don't usually hang out in bars. My Dad was killed by a drunk driver. And we don't drink. But Guss' Bar And Grill is a not just a bar it's a good restaurant. We enjoy the burgers, and sandwiches. Steve and I love the turkey sandwich. The Molto Italiano is another favorite. Steve enjoys the meatball hero while I go for the Greek Salad. The ceasar salad is delicious too. The waiters and waitresses are exceptionally nice people. Ty, always asks how we are Rebecca and Becca listen when we have problems. Stephanie created a crafts project just for me. Julia makes everyone feel like they are the most special people in the world. I went here for a lunch with my co-workers and was pleasantly surprised to have one of the best chicken quesadillas in Richmond. it was so big and stuffed with so much chicken I couldnt believe it. I didn't expect this to be as good as it was, but everyone at the table was drooling at it. Came here with a buddy after Fan Boy next door was closed. Food: Absolutely delicious. We started with the Smothered Fries. The serving size was massive. The cheese pull was insane. My friend had a pepperoni pizza which was great. It was your classic bar pizza. The crust was the standout. I had the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, which was pretty basic and nothing special. The bun and buffalo sauce was great, but the meat was just a chicken patty. The onion rings that accompanied it were very crispy and well cooked. Service: We walked in and it was a little awkward not knowing whether to seat ourselves or not. There was only one guy working the whole place. Once we got settled, he was super friendly and attentive. You could tell he had been working there for a long time and had some nice recommendations. Ambiance: Definitely a soccer focused sports bar. Not sure why this place doesn't have better reviews... I was in town with a friend and we wanted to watch football and found this place online. It did not disappoint at all we were super happy! Every NFL game was on and each booth had an individual TV so you could watch whatever game you wanted which I have never seen but was so awesome. The atmosphere was fun and welcoming and the waitress was super attentive and friendly to us. This is exactly the type of place I want to be in when watching football! Good food and beer and nice people. There was a Cleveland Browns fan group watching the game there too which was very entertaining-since they had choreographed cheers and we're doing raffles and other things. The biggest surprise of the whole afternoon was the nachos. I believe they were around $12 and it was the biggest Platter I have seen in my life. My friend and I shared the chicken nachos and we're both stuffed-they may have been the best nachos I've had as well which shocked me. Tons of chicken and cheese and veggies with delicious homemade chips-I couldn't stop eating them And the salsa that came with them as tasty as well. It was loaded with beans and onions as well as everything else you could want. Next time I am in town and want to watch any type of sport I will be going back to this place-can't beat this for the Sunday football games. We got great service by Trey. We sat next to some locals and started to talk and drink. This is not a fancy place....it is a sports bar. The menu is pretty good but most of it is probably frozen food from Sysco. But we liked it. We ordered late at night so it's only fryer items late night. We decided to try this place randomly the other night. We get in it's a typical bar atmosphere. We ordered some food and most of the food came out pretty good. However, chicken tenders were ordered and the first set came out completely raw. You could visibly see it from the outside not even being cooked. We told the waitress and she only said "oh that's not right", never apologized or anything. Another set of tenders came out and they looked cooked from the outside but they didn't leave them cooking long enough and the inside is still raw! The waitress was showed this again and then pretty much rolled her eyes and went over to the bar and went over to the other waitress and looked like she was irritated there was another issue we pointed out. She came over to the table quickly after that but never refilled our drinks or even asked. The waitress just had a bad attitude from the start it seemed and nobody ever apologized for the raw chicke. I was just at Gus' last night. I just have to write them this review because of how well they did considering being short staffed and overcrowded. Was scrolling somewhere to grab a bite and a beer with a friend. I'd never heard even a peep about this place but I'm glad we decided on it. It's located in Broad right next door to one of my favorite mexican restaurants in Richmond Lalo's Cocina. Our waitress (Rebekah) was super sweet, attentive but not aggressive! Our food and drinks were prompt, everything was hot and pretty darn good. They went the extra mile and added the plexiglass over/ between each booth. Bathroom was clean, which is always a plus, it does speak to the conditions in which your food may be being cooked. I ordered the "Broad Street Bully" it's simply a Philly cheese steak sandwich, but it is good! I ordered the " Chief sticks"which are mozzarella sticks but that marinara sauce is A1! For a bar and grill they have very interesting and unique things on the menu such as; nacho raviolis, fried halloumi and brisket! This place is just awful. I keep trying it, hoping it will get better but it always disappoints. The service is terrible, there are never more than 2 waiters/bartenders at one time, and the poor staff can't keep up with huge weekend crowds. So Gus's Bar and Grill is one of the official meet up spots for the RCSSC (all sports). It's very rowdy here around dinner time, especially after the games (win or lose). We come every now and then after our games because they have a special going on the bud light if you want a pitcher or something. This place kind of has dingy/dark bar kind of feel to it. On my last visit, we got two pizzas to share between three guys. A hawaiian style pizza and a bacon pizza. These are marked as "hand" tossed pizza but I highly doubt that especially for a bar place like this, but it could be true! Who knows.. The pizza was actually pretty good and was braces friendly (haha); the crust/dough wasn't too chewy and cooked perfectly and was similar to a pan style pizza but not too thick. The sauce and toppings were all pretty tasty as well. It's about $10 for a pizza (one size) and it's about 10 inches or so and were we able to able to finish it all and even hand off a couple pieces to our other team members. I LOVE cheese so I asked for another thing of grated Parmesan cheese and our waitress was happy to oblige and i used about 75% of it on my own and it was almost full... Bathrooms are okay/standard for a bar and the service was good; they brought out extra plates and filled waters/drinks quickly. I would give it four stars, but knocking it down one star because parking is only street parking or you have to park across the street at the Children's Museum to get over. read more

So here's the deal...Gus' sponsors River City Sports and Social Club. Every time I go there I have a good time. The food is ok. I had the Broad Street Bully (a steak and cheese), which was too much dry bread to meat ratio. The hot wings were slightly better than average. Per the waitress' recommendation, I tried the Buffalo Chicken Pizza, which I liked. I really like bleu cheese and that flavor really came through, but I wish it was spicer (more buffalo sauce). Still it was unique and enjoyable. The service can be so slow. Sometimes when I go I feel like things are improving, but sometimes it gets frustrating. Everyone is really nice. Maybe just not enough servers? It isn't a very big place. The other problem? The TVs are so small. Like real small. Maybe 20 inches. The need to step up the tv situation. However, in Richmond, Gus' beats Home Team Grill as far as food and fun. Hometeam has better tvs, but it is so packed on Sundays you'll wait forever for a table and be served subpar food by average waitstaff. For me, Gus' is the winner for Sunday football. read more

I came here with a friend for an early dinner before catching a show at The Broadberry next door. They had a great beer selection and it was actually a really charming place! If we lived in the area we would definitely come here to catch Football games! They had TVs all over the place. The staff was great too! Even at 5:30 on a off season Sunday the staff was friendly and attentive. Our food was very good. We had cheese sticks for an appetizer, they weren't anything mind blowing, but they were good. I had the Gyro for my meal. The fries were delicious! I was so impressed! The gyro was actually better than some that I have had at Greek restaurants! The food menu is abnormally huge for a sports bar and it includes salads, potato skins, and even lobster ravioli. All came as requested Now Beverly shared bar duties with a skewed hat guy who didn't bother to introduce self and while he managed to get me a drink or two, he was a little preoccupied with his phone to get me my tab to close out. I try to only give out my 5 star reviews sparingly, but in the sports bar category, this place rocks. Good atmosphere, tons of TVs and copious amounts of alcohol. However, the real win here is the food. I saw feta on tons of items which sold me. And it's not crumbly crap feta you get in the grocery store. It's legit chunks of feta. I'm willing to go straight to the bedroom on a first date when feta is involved. Freaky for feta is my tinder profile. I got the lamb burger sub tots. The tzatziki was truly out of this world. I have frequented this sports bar on quite a few occasions. This place is very dark and dingy looking. The menu is limited as for American cuisine as it is mostly Greek food. Funny but I thought a sports bar called Gus' Bar & Grill would have more American fare. No club sandwich, no fish sandwich, and very limited American cuisine. I had problems with one waitress and I think her name is Erica. I sat at the only table that was available at the time. When she came to nt table she immediately inquired about what I wanted to drink. I asked her if she could clean off the table first. She raised her voice and said "I am getting to that!" Are you kidding me? The table had dried up sauce on it. Common sense dictates that you clean off the table first before inquiring about food or drink. Erica even tried to charge me for mayonnaisse. That is ridiculous. I had eaten there before and no one ever tried to pull some nonsense like that on me. What type of dirty shiggity is that? When sporting events end late at night they crank up loud, annoying, and obnoxious hip hop.music. Once again, I thought this was a sports bar and not a hip hop club.
