    Removing decorative ring.  Cartridge visible.

This review is overdue. I would give this plumber zero stars if I could. Brief background. We are senior citizens and are relatively new residents in our townhome. Thus, we are not familiar with service providers in this area. Prior to our purchase, our home inspector suggested that we should consider replacing our water heater due to its age and also consider replacing the main water shutoff valves with ball valves. We planned on these replacements when a plumbing issue would arise in the future. For approximately one month we had noticed a slow drip from the aerator on our kitchen pullout faucet. On 2/24/20 we noticed a leak in our kitchen cabinet. This leak was coming from our kitchen faucet below the countertop. I checked the hose fitting to the pullout faucet and noticed that there was no leak from this area or from the hose itself. We decided to call Curcio Plumbing. We thought that we would use their services since the previous owner used them to replace the water heater in 2009. Our intention was to repair the kitchen faucet leaks and replace the water heater and shutoff valves mentioned above. An appointment was scheduled for the following day. The following morning K__ appeared on behalf of Curcio. I first showed K__ the water heater. He subsequently took photos of our current water heater and stated that he would get back to us on an estimate since it required a special order. I next showed K__ the shutoff valves that we wanted replaced. He provided us with a rough estimate for this portion of the job. We then proceeded to the kitchen. I explained to K__ want we had noticed regarding the two leaks. I showed him photos of the leaks that I taken previously. At that time, the water was not leaking below the sink, however, it continued to leak from the aerator. I asked K__ if the cartridge could be the source of the leak from the aerator and below the countertop. He responded no. Instead, due to the labor cost and involvement of checking the cartridge, he recommended a total replacement of a new kitchen faucet. I asked K__ how does that work, ie do we purchase the faucet on our own and then call Curcio? He said no. In order to have the work guaranteed by Curcio we had to purchase the new faucet from them. They would provide us with a link and we would select a faucet for Curcio to install. In the meanwhile I asked K__ to replace the shutoff valves below the kitchen sink. We agreed to call Curcio again when we would notice the leak in the future. While speaking, I again pointed out that the drip was continuing from the aerator on the pullout. K__ gave no response. Approximately 20 minutes later we again noticed the leak below the sink. We called Curcio and requested the link so that we could select a new faucet as per K__'s recommendation. We were told that he would get back to us when he returned at the end of the day. The following day I decided to see how involved it was to check the cartridge, remembering that K__ stated that it would be involved. We were still awaiting a return call and intended to replace the faucet when we received the link from Curcio. It actually took me longer to retrieve the appropriate tools then it took to discover the source of the 2 leaks. I loosened the set screw which holds the handle in place by using an Allen wrench. After lifting the handle I noticed water on top of the visible cartridge. I then unscrewed the decorative ring. Below that ring there is a threaded brass nut which holds the cartridge in place. That nut was so loose that I could turn it with my fingers. I subsequently tightened the brass nut by using a wrench and then replaced the decorative ring and handle. There have no longer been any leaks since then. I have provided photos in order to understand the above explanation. I spoke to the owner, Vince, the following day in order to discuss the service call. He spoke over me, was defensive and argumentative. He stated that most customers would not want the service rep. to "take apart" their faucet. I stated that the source of the leaks could have easily been determined while waiting for the leak under the sink. Vince stated that he had recorded our telephone conversation (without me knowing) which could be found to be illegal in certain cases. Since that conversation, I realized that our home security cameras not only record 12 second video recordings, but also audio recordings. I have not reviewed all of my recordings but there are several where you can hear the discussions pertaining to the leaks. This service call could have been easily resolved by removing the handle. It could have been done while waiting for the leak to reoccur. Vince stated that he would get back to me on 3/2/20. I have not heard from him as of this date. I would recommend staying away from this plumber. He lost 2 additional jobs in our home.

Had I been a character in the old Batman TV series, I would definitely have been Mr. Freeze…read more(hopefully when he was played by George Sanders rather than Otto Preminger!). I like to think I can handle adversity as well as anyone, but I'll have to concede that I'm a big wuss when it comes to staying cool during the torrid months of summer. (Had I been a character in an H.P. Lovecraft story, it would have been Dr. Munoz in "Cool Air.") When I was a kid, my family had central air conditioning in the house, but my father, a child of the Depression, would only turn it on when the weather turned so brutally and insufferably hot that even he couldn't ignore it. As I got older, suffering from migraines, rampaging insomnia, and various other ailments, my parents took mercy on me and bought an air conditioning unit to put in my bedroom window, and I was very happy with that little unit. The rest of the house might resemble Hades Lite (or just plain Hades), but in my room, it was a cool and refreshing oasis, a restorative "boy cave," supplemented by my pile of Black Sabbath records, my stack of horror comics, and those few "Adult" magazines I had been able to shoplift from the Preakness Luncheonette. When I finally (and reluctantly) entered adulthood, and moved into where I live now, for the 1st time I had central air conditioning that I alone was responsible for, and that air conditioner was on continuously from the end of May to the middle of September. In the midst of one scorching hot summer, it stopped suddenly. In a panic, I called a company that may have been Economy, although at this late date I'm not entirely sure. The repairman examined my unit, made some repairs (and the price, as I remember it now, wasn't prohibitively expensive). He told me the filter hadn't been changed in a long, long time. "Huh?" I managed to respond. "Filter?" Patiently, he explained that the filter needed to be changed regularly. I could buy them at the local hardware store. I heeded the advice. A few years ago, I had to have the unit replaced, and this time it definitely was Economy who did the job. They did it very well, and... again... the price wasn't exorbitant. (Although the new thermostat was baffling to me when I had to replace the battery and reset it; thank God for Youtube tutorials! I mentioned it to a friend, and she agreed, telling me her elderly mother had recently had the same thermostat installed and had nearly given herself apoplexy trying to figure out how to use it.) It's been working fine since then, but last week, one of the hottest stretches I've ever experienced in my lifetime, had me very nervous. (In addition to migraines, insomnia and various other ailments, I'm a bit of a paranoid.) Everything seemed to be working fine, and I was cool enough, considering, but the temperature on the thermostat wasn't reaching as low as I had set it. Common sense told me that because it was so exceptionally and brutally hot outside, the air conditioner had to work that much harder and wasn't necessarily going to get down to a level of frigidity that would keep Mr. Freeze, Dr. Munoz or yours truly perfectly happy, but common sense pitted against paranoia never has much of a chance (at least not with me). I called Economy in an effort to reassure myself, but...naturally...got a voicemail. It was expected, but my nervousness increased. Resigned, I left a voicemail message. Truth is, I wasn't expecting any call back. According to their website, they close at 5pm. A few minutes after 5, however, I received a call back from Joe. I expressed my concerns, and he was very patient, explaining to me that I was probably correct in my assumptions, but that if it did present a real problem, to call them back and make an appointment for someone to come out to my place. He also told me that if I changed my air filter more frequently during the summer months, it might blow out cold air a little more efficiently. It was a reassuring phone call. I've liked the service I've gotten from this company in the past, and I have to say I was mightily impressed by the callback on what had to be one of their busiest days. I'm so used to calling companies for service, much less to simply ask a question, and getting no response at all, that this was a notable and commendable departure from what I'm used to. It's a family run, local business, they've been around for a long time, and I would readily recommend them to anyone.

If you are looking for a plumber these are absolutely your guys…read more This is coming from a person who never takes the time to review a company. Yesterday afternoon I reached out to Copperhead just to see if they were working with everything going on. They were and asked extremely professional questions in regards to anyone in the household being sick and if I could stay in the other room as they work, great to see they care. I then was promptly scheduled for this afternoon. Fortunately they called me this morning to let me know someone had cancelled and they could move me up to this morning. They came in at 8:45 and were out in less than 45 minutes. I can not say enough how much appreciated the very prompt, professional, and fairly price service of this company. Thank you so much and I will be recommending you to anyone I can in the area.

TRUST ME - STAY AWAY!! As other customers here wrote, I too wish I had read all the negative…read morereviews about this business, but I was unaware that Tom, the previous owner of Copperhead sold to new owners who are a *NIGHTMARE TO DEAL WITH!!* I typically never right a bad review, on the contrary, I'm the one who writes the best and most positive reviews, because I believe people and businesses deserve great recognition and great reviews when warranted. However unfortunately this is NOT the case with the new owner(s) who took over Copperhead Plumbing. I spoke with a Dan, and then realized what everyone else was saying, how the new owner(s) completely destroyed the great reputation Tom built before he retired. I had called a Dan to discuss the repair needed for our boiler. We have 3 zones at home, and the upstairs heat zone to the bedrooms was not working, and my husband tried to change the valve, but had trouble rewiring it although he's an electrical engineer, he felt it better to call the plumber because he needed them to rewire it correctly. Note: The two zones downstairs were working great! Two very young techs came at 8:30 am and 3 hours later were still by the boiler trying to as they said "trying to figure it out". We asked them to not touch the valves or wires for the two other zones as they worked perfectly. I was at work and husband home occasionally checking for any updates from these two young men, and eventually became very worried and concerned with no answers on what was going on. I called the office trying to get an answer on why they were still there 3 hours later, "trying to figure it out" for repairing the ONE ZONE in order to get heat to the 2nd floor bedrooms. I spoke to Dan about our concerns and he rudely and abruptly was raising his voice, and told me "your husband broke the boiler" and it will cost you close to $3,000 for repairs and parts. Plus $300 for the service call today. Needless to say I thought to myself "What kind of company and employees have taken over Copperhead? I don't need to be talked down to this way" This is appalling, unprofessional, and unacceptable to be spoken to and falsely accusing a customer this way, just to *cover his young inexperienced or not well trained technicians*, who apparently seem they were the ones who BROKE OUR BOILER while poking around there for 3 full hours, and now expecting us to pay $3,000 to fix the damage that occurred while they were there!! I once again reminded Dan, that we had HEAT DOWNSTAIRS before the techs arrived, and before they left charged us $300, and after they left, later in the evening we discovered *WE HAD NO HEAT, AND OUR FAMILY PRACTICALLY FROZE* from the cold. Dan and techs was aware I had an elderly mom with Alzheimer's and young grandchildren, (one a baby) in our home - unforgivable!! I gave Dan an opportunity to redeem himself and the business, asking him to send us a more experienced technician the next day (Sat.) and he said he was going to charge us an *Emergency Visit*, in addition to the $200 we paid him the previous day! This was his opportunity to make good, and take care of the damage and frustration our family all went through by leaving us with no heat even downstairs where we had heat before the techs came to our home, and then NO HEAT we discovered after they left. The two zones downstairs which were working when those young techs walked in, was no longer working when they walked out. Not difficult to see whose at fault and why we suddenly had no heat after techs were "trying to figure it out!"
