We had a very enjoyable experience here on a Saturday afternoon. The store has a great atmosphere appropriate for a cheese shop. We sampled three delicious cheeses in order to help decide on our purchase. They have an excellent selection and so hard to choose! Samantha was so sincerely friendly and eager to make our time there a pleasant one and not just a business transaction. We look forward to going back for lunch as they have a great selection of sandwiches with various cheeses. We went yesterday and today were excited to make "elevated" grilled cheese sandwiches with one of the cheeses from our purchase. They came out as delicious as we hoped for! read more

I used to live in Wisconsin (the cheese capital) and one thing I always missed when I moved to NY was the amazing local cheese shops. When I first came to Curds & Whey, I fell in love!!! The cheese selections here are phenomenal, and they have all the things you need to DIY your perfect charcuterie board. I work nearby and come here to get the Brie, fig, prosciutto panini and it always makes my day picked up a bottle of wine across the street, came here for cheese, and I'm fully prepared for a cozy night in! I've had a few positive experiences here; it's just that I could have written a more in-depth review if I actually found them open during the hours they're supposed to be. I've probably *tried* to shop there during what were supposed to be their business hours but found them closed more times than I've found them open (getting there at 11 AM and fruitlessly waiting 10-15). Their web site has been abandoned, they don't have a FaceBook page, and I think I managed to get through to them by phone once. Walked in and they were friendly enough but hesitated to get up from their work at a laptop which was spread out all over the only seating area in the place. I felt like I was interrupting. They prepared our sandwiches which were nice gourmet grilled cheese and were over 16$ for each. They handed us the paper take away boxes, open, with no napkins and we had to find a random park bench to sit outside. They had tables and chairs in there, but did not put them out on the sidewalk. This place is awesome. My new north shore must-go-to spot. Family owned and run. Very knowledgeable about all the cheese and meats. They source from multiple different regions to bring variety you dont find in other places. The restaurant is cozy and warm with a great atmosphere. Wine selection is great. They made my holiday. I went to pick up a few treats to celebrate the holidays solo, but due to covid couldn't go in. I was overwhelmed by the menu and could make a choice. Another customer picked up a beautiful platter. I jokingly asked how do i get one of those. The lovely lady said tell us what you must and must nots are and a budget. It was perfect. A lovely shop with a great assortment of cheeses, local ice cream, wines etc. I got a lobster roll which was pretty good. The counter person ( owner ) was pleasant. There was another couple drinking wine with a cheese plate so that was a neat idea since nowhere around there does that. I just moved into the area and was sooooo excited to find this place. I am obsessed with cheese and the selection here was so lovely. Also picked up venison salami which I think is amazing. Can't wait to get some olive oils and balsamic vinegar here. It's expensive, but quality is far superior to anything I have experienced. I think I feel my paycheck disappearing into here. Went into this store a day or so after it opened. Owners are very much hands-on and involved and for a business of this nature, I find that to be very important. Various cheeses, delicacies, snacks, wares -- very unique! Definitely a great place to go if you are entertaining folks and want to impress with something 'different'. I would imagine you could pull together a great gift from this place too! Clean, organized, well appointed -- while I don't live close by, I would definitely make a special trip. read more

Just bought Fois Gras from Hudson Valley, perfect Explorator Cheese, small bite size beef wellingtons, dark chocolate covered ginger, caviar and bellinis. They carry a top grade selection of cheese, prepared foods, breads. Expensive but worth it. Great addition to the area. read more

Excellent, excellent, excellent. Since I discovered this place, I make weekly trips to get my cheese fix. The selection is outstanding (seems they have about 20-30 cheeses), along with a variety of meats, prepared foods, frozen foods, outstanding balsamics and olive oils, as well as other gourmet treats. The owners are wonderful people who are insightful and helpful, giving out samples of cheeses, olive oils, and balsamics. Being able to taste a cheese before you buy it is a huge advantage over a supermarket like Fairway or North Shore Farms, where they have a large selection, but you may be hesitant to spend $10 on a cheese you may not like. It's really a lovely shop, and the prices are fairly reasonable. Everyone in the Glen Cove/Brookville/Oyster Bay/Locust Valley area absolutely must stop in and give this place a try, it will absolutely be worth your time. read more
