We stopped by this amazing little location (jokes here) in a gorgeous historical home!! It is amazing to walk in and see the eclectic decor and art!! Even though I was at the wrong location the ow er was very kind and told me where to go. Food was good, possibly something you can make at home but if you want to buy it, it came out to $80 for three people getting this plate for us (but presentation was nice.) The place itself had nice art and was a good aesthetic and very big. Bad things: service meaning, they don't attend to you, you have to look for your own seating, took "45 minutes" to get the food although it took a hour and a half after being in a very long line to order. Also having to get back in that line if you need anything else or want to order more. Even when you are missing something on plate it took another few minutes to get I ordered avocado on the side and they forgot twice to get me that side, and when did it was a small portion that I had paid for and my food got cold. Silver ware was dirty, had to ask for plastic silverware. Also they ran out of some stuff by the time we were able to order. My first visit to this establishment was May 18, 2026. My sister and her husband invited me to join them for breakfast and conversation. It's a truly cozy atmosphere. An old house that's been converted into Restaurant space. Very comfortable seating areas, fun decorations. A nice menu with many good choices. I ended up going with biscuits and gravy. The gravy had of course, green chili, since we're here in New Mexico! A good rendition of this workhorse breakfast meal. My sis ordered waffles with fruit and it looked delicious. Curious toast is a very cute and solid spot in downtown ABQ. The restaurant is located in a historic house and they rent the rooms to local artists to display/sell their art. I would recommend checking out the rooms then ordering food and drinks on the first floor. They have both coffee/tea and cocktails. My avocado toast this trip was okay- I think that the avocados had seen better days. My sister seemed to really enjoy the salmon toast. My latte was overly sweet (maybe a fluke- I hadn't experienced this previous visits). At this restaurant you order inside and take a number then they will bring you your food/drinks. They have outdoor seating and seating in the house. They offer parking behind the house and there is also street parking in the area. The Benji toast was $15 and the salmon toast was $17. Chai latte -$6 and lavender latte-$6.50. And if you use alternative milk (I like oat milk ) they charge an extra $0.80. If Tinkertown had a restaurant, this is what it would look like. You will always find something you didn't notice before. I love the whole vibe of the place and the folks who worked there were very nice. The potatoes could be cut smaller and seasoned more (I liked the crispy bits a lot!) and the ice tea and mint tea could have used more flavor. The main course made up for it! We were picking up bagels today and decided to stop at Curious Toast for breakfast while we were near downtown. We easily found street parking and later discovered their parking lot behind the building. Curious Toast is located in a historic old house right on Central and has some pretty eclectic decor; you can walk around and look in all the different rooms while waiting for your order. We both enjoyed our meals. I had the Benji toast (mashed avocado, poached egg, crumbled feta cheese, pomegranate seeds, smoked sea salt, microgreens, and sliced avocado) on locally baked herbed sourdough. This was a delicious combination; the nicely seasoned avocado blended with the sweet-tart pomegranate seeds and the salty, tangy feta, plus the hint of smokiness from the sea salt was fantastic. You choose papas or a fruit cup for your side, so I went with the fresh fruit cup, a nice contrast to the toast. I had an iced Americano (beans from The Brew over on Gold) which was also delicious. My husband had the banana brule waffle, a Belgian waffle topped with caramelized bananas and candied walnuts, plus a heap of cinnamon whipped cream on the side. A sprinkle of cinnamon sugar and a side of maple syrup completed the plate. This was very tasty, but he thought that for the price he paid some bacon or sausage should have been included. In town for a memorial service, this little gem was located in the office building diagonally across the street from our hotel. What a find!!! I had biscuits and green chile gravy with over easy eggs and potatoes and everything was so flavorful! My son had churro french toast and loved it too. Not for people who are easily overstimulated. There is a LOT going on. Be ready to order when you walk in the door; not first-time guest friendly. Seating is all over the place, literally. No options for high chairs or booster seats and we had a toddler. Menu isn't detailed enough; cute drink names but no explanation for what's in the drinks to help you choose. If you order at the counter, you can ask. If you are not a repeat customer and need more time, you can find a table first and look over the menu but there's no staff available to answer questions. You have to go back and stand in the ordering line, which may be on a different floor from the table you sat at. Pay and tip before you've been served anything at all or even seated. We sat ourselves and ended up with an issue with our drinks but we'd already tipped in advance. The food was not good. It was pretty but bland. No salt or pepper on the table to even help the eggs. Scrambled eggs were folded and not scrambled. Smoked salmon was freezing cold. Banana bread French toast wasn't French toast at all. It was grilled banana bread. Even our baby wouldn't eat the food so we tried to give her fruit, which she loves. The strawberries were unripe and hard so she wouldn't even eat those. She spat out the bacon and the eggs. All foods she eats regularly at home. We didn't get the drinks we ordered and paid for. After eating, the line was super long to even ask about them. We caught a passing waitress and asked. A different waitress (the one who served our food happened to be walking by and joined in the conversation. We said we didn't get our drinks. The one who served us said oh, she's still making them (pointing to the other waitress). That one said oh, I delivered them to this other table with your number on it. We'd eaten on a whole different floor. The number had been taken when the food was dropped off and then reused for a different customer. So our lattes were just sitting unattended in a place where people and dogs are everywhere. Yes, they allow dogs inside. There was a fly and no air circulation in the basement room we ate in. All the staff was super nice but you couldn't pay me go go back here. We spent a lot of money in today's economy and didn't enjoy any of our food or the experience. I love historical buildings especially when they are repurposed creatively like into a coffee shop! The Curious Toast what a fun name, but that's just the beginning. From the moment I walked in I loved everything about it. I was greeted immediately and with a warm smile. And encouraged to look around while I waited for my order. This place is like no other with its quirky and eclectic art. I chose one of the cozy smaller rooms towards the entrance and I could easily see myself sipping on coffee while working on my laptop or catching up with friends over lattes. For lunch I had the Cubano with smoked pork which I love anything smoked. The sandwich was perfectly balanced with tangy flavors of their housemade mustard layered between two triangular cut baguettes, and let's not forget the melted cheese holding it together. It's a staple! The side of potatoes were also tasty with a crunchy outside and soft inside. From the food, to the service, to the ambience, I absolutely loved it! I had gone by this establishment many times I thought the name curious toast a little unusual and wasn't quite sure what it was. I was taking my noon walk on my lunch break downtown Albuquerque and I thought I'm gonna go check it out. Really glad that I did. This is a historic old home. That's been converted into multi space that downstairs is a restaurant, coffee and espresso joint. I attach some pictures so you get an idea of the decor. It's really unusual and wonderfully kinky cool. I ordered the Curious Cubano sandwich with papas. Really tasty with a couple of different kinds of ham with cheese melted with a really good mustard in there on a excellent bun. Sadly, we were not impressed with this restaurant. The toast were mediocre at best. The bread was tough to eat, very crunchy outsides and couldn't really cut it into smaller pieces. Flavor was not great. Service took a bit and my drink was even delivered to another table. The drink was supposed to be black tea but was more yellow in color with no tea flavor at all. A hodgepodge. It's not your well laid out store where everything's the same, booths or tables are symmetrically aligned. It's part of the charm. But if that doesn't get it the food will. I ordered the Hawaiian French Toast it comes with bacon, whipped cream, pineapple & bacon. no syrup needed. Delicious and in typical NM style - plenty on the plate. The Mrs got the Salmon Sunrise. Today I stumbled upon the COOLEST coffee/breakfast shop. Its three stories plus basement. And when I ordered the coffee, the barrista says feel free to wander, we are blessed to be in this space and love sharing it. No rooms are off limits. A surprise discovery! I was staying at the ARRIVE Albuquerque hotel across the street. I wanted a late breakfast. Curious Toast is a gem. Unique, funky, a wonderful atmosphere. I had the Burque Melt on pueblo bread (all bread purchased from local bakeries). I finished off with a biscochito latte. The staff is friendly and provides great service. Visited for breakfast this morning. This was our first visit and I had been reading really good things about the food on the Facebook Albuquerque Foodies Group and on Yelp. It did not disappoint. Located in downtown Albuquerque. There is a large parking lot on the east side of the house. The lot is accessible off of 6th street and the alley behind the house. Upon entering you begin to notice the quirky decorations and different seating areas in multiple rooms. The menu has a lot different options. We chose to share two things- the Disco Elvis and the Burque Melt. Both options had several choices of bread for the toast. The Burque melt has two over easy eggs, caramelized onions, shredded cheddar, bacon, a side of chopped green Chile and choice of potato or fruit. We chose herbed sourdough for the bread. The portions are good. There were four pieces of bacon that were cooked how I like it----not too crisp but well enough done that you don't feel it is too floppy. The eggs were a bit overcooked for over easy but they were fine. There was a lot of cheese on the toast and the side of green Chile was medium heat and also had other spices so it wasn't just the green Chile taste. It really added to the flavor. The fruit include large, plump blueberries, grapes, pineapple, and strawberries. The fruit was fresh and delicious. The second dish- the Disco Elvis like dessert. Whole wheat sourdough with almond butter, caramelized banana and strawberries, crunchy almond granola with edible Disco glitter and drizzled with honey. It was so good. The granola I am assuming is house made and included lots of pepitas, big pieces of pecans, dates, and apricots. The bananas and strawberries were fresh and the banana not super soft. This toast was really good. The coffee is served in unmatched mugs, either regular or large. We got larges because I like several cups of coffee in the morning. The coffee was delicious, strong and hot. I am picky about coffee and often how good the coffee is drives my choice for breakfast. The coffee met my standards. You order at the counter and your food is delivered to your table. My only complaint is I shouldn't have waited so long to visit. Such a good experience. Will be back. read more
