First time here. It's been at least 25 years since I've been at the location where the tram is. This new place has a huge menu! The coffee options are huge. Food options are plenty and lunch starts serving at 10 which surprised me. I ordered the brisket nachos while a friend ordered the truffle fries. OMGOODNESS those fries were delicious, crispy and frankly outstanding! I love me some fries and these rank right up there! Maybe I should note the delicious fries in NM. Aside from when we ordered and when food was delivered, no one came to check on us or refill water. Didn't actually realize that till now as I'm writing this review. I ordered a mediocre Bloody Mary. It has no celery stalk or green olives. It was okay but certainly not worth $13 in my opinion. Nachos were okay. Didn't finish them. But those fries! I'll come just to get fries and a beer! From the time we ordered two simple breakfast BLT sandwiches till when we got them was 45 minutes. We ate the sandwiches in 15 minutes. Had to ask for a knife to cut and sandwich and received a plastic knife. There was no garnish with the plate, food was just plopped on it. It was tasty, but by the time we got it, we were pretty much over it. Very few wait staff employees. Had to leave your table to go up and order and wait "a very long time". The view and location are awesome, but the service and way things were done are very lacking. We won't be back. read more

Delicious food and good prices. I loved the spiciness of the tamale plate and that the meat wasn't dry. you can also choose green or red chile. a highlight was iced drinks able to be in a 34 oz bucket! we got a yummy prickly pear lemonade for $7. you have to walk up to the cashier to order and sit wherever. read more

This place has a ton of potential! We visited on a Sunday morning, where they don't do full service till 11, I believe. We ordered at the counter and it was clear all employees are very new to the system: it took a while for the guy to ring in the order. They also had a very young busser working (maybe 10-12 years old) who was struggling a bit. The food was good, we ordered the egg sandwich and chocolate chip pancakes. The best part was the view, this could potentially be one of the best brunch spots in Albuquerque if they try. We'd be willing to go back after giving them some time to get a better flow going (and full service before 11). read more

We had the sausage and the chorizo green chili breakfast burrito. $18. These breakfast burritos were hot!! Both in temperature and in spiciness. They were much better than most places in the ABQ but some people may not be able to handle the heat. They were just as amazing as the view. This is place is a must do and we will be back! read more

What a gem! I can't believe I never knew about this spot until now. Affordable coffee & food with the best view! I went on a Sunday morning and the restaurant was incredibly empty. Abundance of seating with different areas- such as a couch overlooking the tram, general tables & outdoor seating. The outdoor area has heaters so you can even look out onto the city comfortably in the Winter. Another key to my heart- they have mug coffee with unlimited refills.... What! I loved this spot. Perfect breakfast or lunch stop on your way to the tram or honestly just bypassing the tram and enjoying the view. This is my new go to for out of towners visiting. AND they have a changing table in their bathroom- so it's very babe friendly. read more

Beautiful view, terrible service and food. The staff are extremellyyyy slow! Took over an hour and a half to get our simple breakfast and we waited over half an hour just for our water to be served. The "breakfast potatoes" are really overcooked dry fries and we asked for red chile and got green instead. When we asked why apparently they were out of red. The green chile is not homemade. Homestead Cafe is a welcome new addition at the base of the Sandia Tram, with a broad menu that goes well beyond breakfast and includes lunch, dinner, and a separate two-page brunch selection. Ordering at the counter is a little different, but the food is still brought to your table, and the employees were friendly throughout the visit. The standout was the 12 oz. green chile stew, which was excellent: hearty, well-seasoned, and packed with tender chunks of pork and cubed potatoes with just enough heat to clear the sinuses. The ham and cheese sandwich was much less memorable, with thin bread, plenty of ham, and so little cheese that it was easy to miss. The fries were only lukewarm despite the runner's warning that they were hot, so timing may have been off slightly. Drinks were also on the pricey side, and the iced tea came in three sizes but without refills. The views are hard to beat, with plenty of window seating and an outdoor patio that makes the location as appealing as the food. Overall, it's worth a visit for the setting and the green chile stew, and I'm interested in trying more of the menu next time. Open 8AM-8PM. read more

Stopped by before heading up the Sandia Peak tram and grabbed a Cortado ($4.25) and the combo green chile breakfast burrito ($8.95). The coffee was a little on the weaker side, but I liked the latte art. The burrito was pretty good - flavorful with just the right kick from the green chile. The vibe here is pretty chill. They got board games you can borrow while you wait for the tram and a little gift shop nearby. There is plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. Service was welcoming. This is a nice spot to relax before or after your ride up the mountain. read more

Supporting local! Came to Sandia Peak Tramway and I watched a YouTube video about this cafe and the owner who lived here left and came back to create a great space to eat, hang out or have hot or cold drinks. We just had our tramway ride and decided to try this out! I loved the coffee I had but not much of their blueberry sconce fan. Right texture for the sconce but not entirely for me. Probably the hot food is better or just didn't get to try the rest and they have a wide array of baked goods. They have board games, and thrift store area. Loved that you can walk from the tramway and directly to this beautiful spot. Yes for military discount! read more

This was at the bottom of the tram. The top restaurant was packed. We had a ham cuban and I had a pastrami sandwich. Came with a bag of chips. My wife got the seafood lemonade and i gotten blueberry ice tea It needed more flavor. Sandwiches hit the spot. read more

I live in the area, and having Homestead Cafe nearby has been a real addition to the neighborhood. Five stars. The setting does a lot of the work. The views are wide and open, and you're reminded pretty quickly why this part of Albuquerque is special. Inside, I appreciate the board games. It changes the dynamic from "grab coffee and leave" to "stay and actually spend time." I've seen families playing together, friends catching up, and it gives the space an easy, lived-in feel. It's friendly without being loud about it. It's simply nice to have somewhere nearby that's both beautiful and comfortable. As a local, I'm glad it's here. read more

Service is slow. Needs another cook. Food was Ok. Water is behind the cashier, not self-serve. They do not come by to see if you need anything. You have to flag them down. The view is great if you want to bring a date. Go very early if you need to get on the tram. read more

My daughter and I had just finished hiking the LaLuz and were very hungry. Rather than waiting an hour to be seated at the restaurant at the top of the mountain, we chose the Homestead because it is conveniently located at the bottom of the Tram. Big mistake. First of all they were out of some staple items like burgers and chicken breasts. We settled instead for a steak salad and chicken tenders. It took 40 minutes for our food to come out and what I received was not a steak salad. It was a salad with the left over fat of what appeared to be Prime Rib. Completely inedible. My daughter's chicken tenders were hard and broke her bracket. We will never go back. read more

The view is spectacular (added one whole star for this alone). The rest is pretty average. Food was tasty but served with plastic silverware and portions are on the smaller side. Service was EXTREMELY slow. We were there for 2 hours for lunch with friends- breakfast burrito, bagel, pastrami and huevos rancheros. None of which is particularly complicated to make. Super cute coffee/tea/baked goods cafe! They have board games to play, yummy black mango tea, and baked goods. My cinnamon roll was delicious. I'll stop by again. Super nice employees. Probably a nice spot to watch the balloons from afar. read more

Great find found while in the ABQ area: this cafe at the base of the tram with the best view you can drive to in this city. Absolutely magical watching the sunset with a cappuccino and a cookie. Games too. Dogs welcomed. Met a lovely pair of them that day. They also had sandwiches but my lady and I had eaten. This was the after party. read more

Food is genuinely mid, service is completely trash. Saw our order waiting on the counter for a good 15 minutes until our server decided to give it to us cold, while another table got theirs immediately as their food was out. completely not busy either, maybe about 4 families. The ambiance is nice I suppose, but the workers are generally socially awkward, don't smile and look angry all the time. Have had one good server here so far. Don't recommend at all. Also missing components of food that was advertised would be on the meal on the menu, like freaking cheese. Very hit or miss, don't waste your time coming here. Also wouldn't come here if your are a person of color because can't seem to figure out for what reason the servers would act off other than race. I personally really think people should treat service workers with kindness and like human beings, so I come into places with that attitude always and was very normal to begin with. Sooo have no idea why only one server here has acted normal towards us. Salads are completely awful as well. Don't waste money or time here. Also the pretzel was fucking rock hard, crunchy, and hard to swallow. These prices for what they are serving should be McDonald's prices if I'm being honest. And Chicken and Brisket both dry asf. Even though the fries were cold though they were good as hell. Only good thing they have. But like oh my gosh you are being paid to literally serve and be nice, stop having an attitude and ruining the experience. read more

Great Coffee, Delicious Pastries with a View! We have spent two mornings viewing hot air balloons from the terrace here. We started with smothered burritos and oat milk latte, finished with outstanding cinnamon pullapart and blueberry cream muffins. The service was wonderful the dining room and bathrooms clean, the parking ample and accessible to the elevator from the disability friendly parking at the rear of the tramway building. Want to get your steps in? The lower parking lots have stairs to the top. We will make this a year round sunrise or sunset treat, so peaceful and pleasurable. read more

The online menu offers more items, which is why we gave it a try, than what's offered in the restaurant. We ordered a Cubano and a chile (very little chili) grilled cheese sandwich both with fries, they were just ok, the fries had a funny taste. It may have been the oil that was used. The cooks should be wearing hair nets or hats rather than just putting their hair in a ponytail. The restaurant looks exactly as it did when it was Santiago's that closed when COVID hit but 6 years older. While the gal who took our orders was friendly, we had to repeat parts of our order to her a few times. I realize they recently opened and may still be working out the kinks and I wish them well but we won't be making the 30 minute drive back. read more

The service wasn't good and either was the food. The person at the counter was nice but everyone else was very rude and didnt care to check in on us or ask if we were doing okay. It's not a traditional restaurant but more of a grab and go place that has outdoor seating. We got a matcha and it was so watered down, we asked the server if there was anyway they could remake it and they were very rude but did remake it with an attitude. Will not be eating here again, very disappointed. read more
