Called on Sunday for a slow (and gurgling) toilet & shower drain. It was not an emergency so I asked for a Monday service call. Chris & Charles arrived at around 8:30 am on Monday. They cleaned the main line (about 75 feet) and then went on the roof to clean the toilet line under the house. They did a very thorough job and my plumbing is now back in working order. I made the mistake of telling Denise that I trusted Big Blade since I had used them in the past, so I did not need a quote. Always very respectful, polite and good listeners on past jobs. Leaking water heater. The "master" plumber showed up shortly after the plumber appeared at my house. He apologized for having no teeth in his mouth as he had just finished eating. I stepped away to the fatherliest side of my garage when I noticed bits of food around his mouth. He took full advantage( I admit it was my fault) after being clued in that he had the job. He told me that a city permit was going to cost $100.00. Apparently, he did not get the memo or take the classes to let him know that women are more savvy than he gives them credit. The permit costs $32.00. The actual job took forever, because the plumber had to leave several times to pick up parts, even though he had a truck that had a utility bed which had several compartments. I supplied the copper tubing for the exit line. He also helped himself to an additional piece of copper tubing from a line from the previous water heater without asking me if he could use it. His helper clued me in on that. I noticed it before he told me. And then, he had the nerve to charge me for parts. There were quite a few lies flowing in my garage that day from those plumbers. Yes, I do realize that it is because I am a woman. I am supposed to believe anything. I know that I was overcharged by about $350.00. I learned my lesson. Stay away from this company. read more

Saturday before Christmas, not the best time for a clogged sink. I did all I knew to do but still could not unclog the sink. I called around and was very thankful Curly's answered the phone. They came out to the house within 1.5 hours of my call and the service tech, Aryn, kept me informed regarding when he would arrive. Aryn and assitant Coy very professional and Aryn made sure I was aware of the price before they did any work. They completed the job swiftly and made sure everything was draining properly. Let's compare and contrast Curly's against another sewer company (which shall remain nameless) when I had a clogged sewer line from my house to the street: The first company I called: Made one attempt to clear the line and hit some dirt. I was told, here's a $225 bill for our work, we couldn't clear the problem and I can't get a camera out to tell you what might be wrong until Monday. If we dig it up to repair it expect to spend at least $2000-3000. I was also told that the sewer line ran in an almost direct line from my sewer clean out at the house to a corresponding spot at the curb. I had no resolution of any kind nor any significant information to show for the money spent. Since I now had no ability to run any water at all and no idea what was really wrong I called Curly's: They arrived and after asking many questions about what the first company did, what tool was used, many questions about the site a tree had previously been at, a depression in my yard, etc. they used a "whip" to deal with the blockage. It cleared the line within minutes and they had already given us time to make decisions, a fact which they told me immediately. They too saw some mud on their tool but I should be able to take a shower or flush the toilet and if I didn't want to make a decision immediately I did not have to. At this point they went further and sent down a blade tool to try and determine where there might be problems and immediately identified where in the pipe the problem occurred. Not surprisingly, the sewer pipe ran no where near the area the first plumber had identified. At this point they had partially solved my problem, I had more information and their bill was still significantly less than the first company that had accomplished nothing. At this point they offered to run a camera down the line, which they had with them, I would not be waiting until Monday for that. They made it clear what they expected to learn from the camera, what they would charge for it, and how much of that charge would go to the cost of repairs, something which they were quite clear with me would be needed. I considered the situation, they ran the camera and identified not only more about the situation underground but the depth at which they would have to work so they were now able to give some reasonable estimates for the repair work depending upon what they found when they dug down to the pipe and also depending upon what the condition of things was on the other side of the break (unfortunately they couldn't continue the initial camera inspection past the site of the initial break). They dug it out, found the break, repaired it, and had everything back in place and working with a 30 day warranty within a total of five hours. Total bill was well under $900. Less than their own estimates prior to the work, less than their intermediate estimates after the camera work. I would like to add that they told me they had a third (pressurized bag) and possibly more plans in place for clearing my line if their first attempt had not worked. They would not have just handed me a bill and said, "Too bad for you." Additionally they ran the camera through the break to street portion of pipe as soon as they were able to in order to complete their inspection so they knew the condition of that section as well. I was very happy with the experience and I will be calling them again the next time I have a plumbing problem. Period. read more

We called Curly for my mother's house, an elderly widow. She had no running water because of the issue. We expected it would take a while, but Curly had someone out there ASAP -- on a Saturday afternoon, no less, just after massive flooding in the area. They identified her problem (broken lines since they were really old), dug it up, went and got a lot more pipe, fixed it (re-ran all the lines), and charged a very reasonable rate. (You could see how obvious the repair was needed as they uncovered all the broken lines.) They knocked the job out and we've had no issues since. Very professional. These guys will treat an elderly widow fairly and very professionally; I have no doubt they will do the same for you. (And, as an added bonus, they've since helped her again -- and were even better that time.) If you're looking out for someone, send them to Curly's. They're an honorable group of men. These guys are above and beyond; best outfit we've ever done business with. read more

(Burleson) If I could give this company negative stars, I would. They were the third company my husband called last week when our water company alerted us to a 1000 unit a day meter reading. We needed someone out STAT. We were promised that they would be out first thing in the morning the next day (between 8 and 9). By 11am, nothing. No phone call, no show. My husband called them again and they said they would have someone there by noon. Noon came and went, nothing. Meanwhile, we found someone else that dropped what the were doing and came out to help. Around 545pm, finally someone showed up. When they were told we found someone else, they were extremely disrespectful and unprofessional. (I only wish I had their names). They thanked us for wasting their time and stated that we could have called them. (Hmmmm) When they were asked to leave, they stated that they didn't need our business any way. Well you succeeded, you will never receive our business, and I hope that this deters other business from you.( read more

These guys are great. My regular plumber couldn't get to me so he recommended these guys. Sewer line was clogged and they came out the same day on a Saturday. Unfortunately they had an equipment issue. We had to be somewhere that night so they came back the next morning, cleaned out the line, good as new. Fixed price, very reasonable. Completely Overcharged for a relatively simple Plumbing Repair.

After 5 days we finally found a plumbing company that wasn't to busy to replace a hot water heater for us. Curly's Big Blade Rooter & Plumbing Service sent two very professional and congenial plumbers Anthony and James. They came in looked at what we needed, quoted a price and went to pick up needed materials. They came back and started right to work. They completed the job in a timely manner, cleaned up after themselves and explained everything that they had done to us.
