This spot was absolutely incredible! It's on the smaller side compared to the vineyards we just came from off the 52, but it is a total hidden treasure. We popped in on a Saturday for a tasting without booking ahead and were pleasantly surprised to find live music playing. The ladies helping out there were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and seemed to know everyone who came through the door. At first, there were no issues with seating; they have inside and outside seating on an attached patio. Once two o'clock rolled around, they had a live performer, and the place filled up. The music was good, and so was the wine; it was definitely worth a stop. read more

We loved this place! One of the smaller vineyards in the area, and definitely a gem. We stopped in and enjoyed a tasting on a Saturday - no reservation - and there was live music as well. The staff were so knowledgeable and friendly!! There were plenty of people there, but we were able to get a tasting right away. We also took some time to wander through the vineyard. This would be a perfect spot for a wedding! So beautiful. Plenty of seating both inside and outside. I'd absolutely recommend! read more

We stopped into Curran Alexander Vineyards last week on our way home. We've been there before. I remember liking their wines but not being blown away. Well, hold the presses!! Rita gave us spectacular service and we were indeed BLOWN AWAY! We were planning on bringing home 2 bottles but ended up getting 7!!! The value is excellent! Our most expensive bottle was $26. 2 bottles of the 2024 Yadkin Valley Viognier which was delicious, 2 bottles of the Rose (made from 100% Cab Sauv) which shocked me with the flavors & depth (I drink 90% reds usually), 1 bottle of the 2022 Yadkin Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (which we will hold for 4-5 years), 1 bottle of the 2021 Yadkin Valley Cabernet Franc and 1 bottle of the 2022 Yadkin Valley Meritage. I liked the Southern Tour blend and the Smokey Pearl blend, both were similar to the Meritage) but a little sweeter than I usually drink. I highly recommend a visit to Curran Alexander Vineyards for a delicious tasting and if you can get Rita, who is VERY knowledgeable about the wines, the better but I'm sure all the staff is great. read more

Been wanting to check this vineyard out for sometime, the mention of European grapes was what drew us here. The grounds are very nicely maintained and the tasting room is air conditioned a with ample room. Staff is very friendly and courteous. When we parked and were walking towards the tasting room a gentleman thank us for coming. Nice guy! Even though they were very busy , Rita was able to attend to us and provide a taste of the Meritage red wine. It was so good that we just decided to get a bottle instead of doing the tasting. We plan to come back with friends next time. read more

What a wonderful place to stop and share a bottle of wine on your way down Highway 52. The wines are typical of European quality and tastes, with a couple of sweet wines for those who have a sweet tooth. Their grounds and tasting rooms are beautiful. The vineyard looks well cared for and there are lots of historical markers to give you an idea of the history that is part of the region. Highly recommend this stop as it is only 20 minutes from Winston-Salem and you can enjoy the outdoor areas along with their new spacious tasting room. Service was great. We were early to arrive, right after lunch and it soon started filling up after a wonderful chat and a tasting with Rita. They have a variety of good wines to suit anyone's taste. The tasting room is lovely! There is a gorgeous historic home on the grounds that you can rent as an airbnb to enjoy a weekend stay. It is a wonderful venue for a wedding or any event you choose to celebrate. While you are there you have your choice of outdoor seating on the grounds at tables with umbrellas, adorondike chairs in front of the firepit in cooler weather, or in the gazebo. You can stroll among the flourishing rows of grape vines, reading the historical markers to learn the history of the place. They also have inside seating in the tasting room at tables, on the comfy couches and chairs in front of the fireplace, or on the patio at a table with ceiling fans slowly spinning above you. A relaxing place to sit and visit with family and friends, sipping quality wines and listening to good music. The atmosphere makes you feel like you have gone back in time to visit at your grandparents house on a Sunday afternoon with your cousins. My friends and I were doing some winery visits and Curran Alexander Vineyards was one of the stops. It ended up being our favorite one! The property is small but pretty. It has a nice welcoming feeling and the employee that helped us was nice and knew a lot about the winery and wine. The tasting room is small but they have a wonderful outdoor area to enjoy. The best part of Curran Alexander was the wine, it was a much better quality than I have found at most of the other local vineyards. read more

I have no idea why it's taken me years to discover Curran Alexander Vineyards. Beautiful grounds with an eye for history and producing fantastic wines...seriously. CAV focuses on producing high quality reds (although the Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc were tasty in their own right) and they seem to have cellared some of the oldest remaining reds in NC (most wines for sale in 2020 are vintage between 2007 and 2010). They've held up remarkably well, and I would rank the Reserve Cabs and Reserve Merlot as some of the best in the state. The testing room is on the smaller side, but it's cozy and there's plenty of outdoor covered and uncovered seating. The people are fantastic and enjoy talking about the Vineyard, its history, and the terrific wines. Right off of 150, the vineyard is easy to find. I can't wait to come back and enjoy more of what CAV has to offer. read more

We visited this winery on April 16th and will definitely return. The wines were excellent - we love dry reds and Curan Alexander doesn't disappoint. Rita was an excellent host. We arrived early on Saturday afternoon, an hour before the posted opening time, but Rita welcomed us anyway and was extremely friendly and knowlegeable.. if you go, take time to walk the grounds. The family has gone to great effort to restore the property, and has placed markers of historical significance throughout the property. It was a great experience. read more

So glad we stopped by. The server, Rita , I believe was her name, was amazing and made us feel right at home Also welcomed our big puppy. I loved the little tasting room with the local history aspect. Then we went outside and viewed all the local history and sat around the fire pit. I do think they need some bottle holder to keep the bottles from spilling, but we only had a glass, we we wee good. I can't wait to see what the future holds for them read more

Absolutely one of the best wineries in the area. Curran Alexander was an accidental stubbled upon thanks to a Google search. One of my friends is quite the wino but had never heard of it, so we thought we would check it out. That would turn out to be one of the best decisions of the current decade. It is a quant place featuring good outdoor seating and some small seating availability inside. The service is personable and attentive while maintaining an inviting and casual atmosphere. Now for the wines... as a red drinker I can honestly tell you that they have some of the best reds in NC Also, their Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc were perfect for a warm summer day. It is almost dangerous how close Curran Alexander is to my house. If you are a fan of great wines, good service, and historical vibes... this is the place for you. read more
