I have been to this location as well as the D.C. location several times, and really like both stores. It's fantastic to find a consignment shop that carries basic pieces along with the trendier stuff. We are not all looking for designer clothing, some of us just want a more environmentally responsible (and cheaper) way to shop! Only minor complaints: the pricing seems somewhat erratic, but I have felt this way about all consignment shops I've been to, I think it comes with the territory. Some things are also a little overpriced (Banana Republic pants for $50... I can get them on sale for that.) Overall, though, I love this store and am glad it exists as an alternative to strictly vintage/designer consignment!! read more

Discovered this little gem while exploring the neighborhood. They had a great selection of high and low end brands. It felt like I was shopping in a friend's closet. I went to this location for the first time on Saturday and I must say, it's a great place to find good fashion. Especially if you are looking for blazers/ coats or jeans for slightly less than what you would pay for a new pair, this is the place. The store is very clean and well organized. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the area. I took a few items in to consign on Saturday. They accepted about 10 of my 20 items I took in. My fingers are crossed that they sell considering I will not be able to get my items back, only downside!! I also wish they had an electronic way of tracking your purchases like Second Time Around verses me having to call or go by the store to see if items have sold. Yesterday afternoon I had received a dress that I had ordered in the mail, and I realized that it really needed a necklace in order to look nice. This would have been fine - except I was going on a airplane the next morning and I had no such necklace to take with me! When I was out running a few last minute errands, I stumbled upon Current Boutique. I figured I would go in real quick and see if they had a necklace that would work with the dress. As soon as I stepped in the door, two very friendly ladies asked me if they could help me find anything. They scoured the store for pretty necklaces and even helped me match them with a dress that was similar to mine. I was really impressed with the customer service! I really love this store! I appreciate that every time I walk in, I am greeted with a smile and a hello. The store is small but always packed with inventory, so you should be prepared to stay awhile and look through each of the racks. Despite the smaller space, the store does not feel too crowded and makes for a comfortable shopping experience still. One of the reviews on here talks about the high end stuff hiding in the racks, and she is right. You might find a Banana Republic top right next to a Joie right next to a Trina Turk. If you're like me though, you will appreciate that accessibility of everything. If you're looking exclusively for those brands, you might get frustrated. For me, there is a really good range of sizes and I have better luck finding items that work on my short body than almost any other store. read more

I have been going here for years and have found many nice things here. The selection is usually quite good. In general, the clothes are clean and in good condition, and there is an especially interesting selection of dresses, some of which are new. Although I've only consigned a few things here, the process worked well for me, although they definitely will turn away any clothing that's not very lightly used or in like-new condition. I have noticed that the prices have gone up across the board since they moved to their new location. I used to find things there for $12.99 or even $8.99, and the past few times I've been there those very low-priced items have been nowhere to be found. Jeans are uniformly priced at around $55 even if they are in variable condition or from cheaper retailers. Worse, I saw very cheap clothing from H&M priced above $20, which just seems wrong - it's H&M! I hope they bring back some lower-priced treasures - I'm willing to pay more money for quality used clothes, but at a certain point it seems wiser just to buy it new. read more

I consigned here and was less than impressed with their buying technique, handling of my items, and pricing. They never sent me an email about my items so I had to 5 or 6 back and forth emails with their customer service just to track down my items which was extremely frustrating. They also did not stick to their pricing policy with my items. They are supposed to sell an item for one-third the retail price but many of my items were listed at around one-eighth. No wonder they all sold within days of me consigning. Definitely will not return to consign. read more

I just love Current Boutique. The selection is unique, fun and up-to-date. The store is really well laid out and it is easy to find your size and I especially like the roomy dressing rooms with the large mirrors. The displays gave me great fashion ideas. I usually don't go for the second hand shoes but it is clear that they spend a great deal of time vetting current and clean shoes. I was turned on to this place by a good friend. I went in with some high-priced designer items - all of them had the tags still attached so never worn. I specifically asked if they would be returned to me if not sold and the sales person said, "Yes, we would never dream of donating these". I should have gotten that in writing because it's been two years and my stuff has not sold yet they will not return it to me. They are way over-priced so of course they won't sell but I cannot have them back either because it's policy. My fault for not getting things in writing but will never consign here again. Don't bring your items for consignment here. You will waste a ton of time. They don't contact you when the item is sold, so you have to keep checking yourself. On top of all they have a $1 fee for when they send you a check. Salespeople were rude when I brought my wife's items for consignment. Another time when I stopped by they were nicer. I would give this place zero stars if I could. As a buyer probably amazing place to shop. As a seller -- never will I ever sell ANYTHING through this place again. I sold three items including a dress that was tailored, and I got $19!!! I would better give these clothes to my relatives or just simply donate them. As a shopper- it's really not bad (skip the cheapy "new" crap in the front of the store- BARF!) although the prices are a bit high. They do 20% off coupons occassionaly, but need to do them more often. My low rating reflects my view as a consignor. I have no problem that the employees are snobs- who cares- i dont need friends - just good business practices. I dont mind that they are picky, thats good for a consignment store. Their policies are absurd in that you dont get your clothes/shoes back, but WORSE yet, THEY WEAR YOUR STUFF!!! I have taken several BRAND NEW pairs of shoes and jeans to consign there only to find them 2 weeks later with wear marks underneath- and i dont mean tried on, I mean WORN. Unbelievable. How unprofessional, and possibly criminal. They convenienty "lose" your best stuff as well. The gal running this place is shady and so are her employees. I would shop here- but never consign here!!! I'm pretty new to shopping in consignment stores but I liked this boutique. I bought 2 items: terracotta skinny Paige jeans and stripped Vera Wang top. I paid $100 total which I think is a bit high for pre-owned items. However, both pieces look brand new so I'm happy with the quality. Bottom line, I got a super cute, fashion-forward outfit that I'm excited to wear. Also, it's a great way to discover new brands and styles. For example, I could never find ultra skinny jeans that fit me well and were comfortable. I was so thrilled when I tried on Paige jeans. Fit like a glove, make my legs look awesome. I really like the look of the store. The majority of the clothing was in good condition and nice pieces. I went in one time and found one piece from Banana Republic that I really like. I will go back because I want to see what they will have. Although, I am big about customer service. It struck me by surprise that no one said hello to me when I walked in. This is a pet peeve of mine. When I left the store they did give me a business card with candy to vote for them for best consignment store. I've been going to Current Boutique since soon after they opened and while I used to LOVE it, I have been disappointed the past few times I've been in. As others have mentioned, I find that a lot of the prices are quite high for used clothing (I was in yesterday and saw an Old Navy cotton tank for $7.95 - seriously? Old Navy itself had a rack of $0.97 tanks yesterday). I don't want to pay more for a used item than I could pay for a new item on sale. I also think the turnover of the clothes would be higher if the prices were lowered. But, that said, there is a good selection and there are deals to be found, if you really look. read more

A fabulous find in Arlington! Very clean and organized, and filled with a variety of great labels! I found a beautiful Kate Spade dress for only $98, and a bunch of other pieces (most of the brands are Anthropologie, LOFT, and Banana Republic). Beware. Current boutique has a terrible return policy. The policy is very deceiving. You really can't return anything. They said that you can't return items "50%" off but they find a way to group everything in that category. They say they have a hassle free return policy. Trust me//it's anything but @hassle free." Also, be careful, there descriptions are not accurate. I had first hand experience with this. You will see "very good condition or excellent condition ." Please do not believe it. I ordered a bunch of stuff and have been a valued customer and customer service was rude to me when I emailed them. The descriptions were not accurate and they would not even listen to me about it. I have never written a bad review. I usually don't write reviews but I had to try and help others out. I usually love this place. I usually go in the store but this is the first time I ordered several things online. I did it because they advertised a "hassle free" return policy. Blah pretty much sums it up. The prices are not that competitive for the quality, so it's sort of hit of miss on the shopping front. On the consignment front it might actually be worse. There are better places to consign, especially for high end pieces. Current had one of my favorite dresses for multiple seasons because it wasn't selling, despite it being a great label and very in season. The main problem is that the stores lack the foot traffic of similar places in busier neighborhoods. read more

Ladies beware! This place is a rip off. You need to pay attention to the price tags as they ring your items up because when you get home, you will notice that you paid more because they rang a different price. They win because all you have is a receipt and they take the price tag. Is the economy so bad that you have to rip off your customers for a few dollars. I work hard for my money and 3 and four dollars is a lot for four items. I should have caught it but was in a rush and just trying to figure out the attitude if it was me or them. I will never ever shop there again. Also, please just smile-it goes a long way. The items in the store were way overpriced/cheap for used and many of the items were not current but well outdated a few years. So please re-look your marking and earn your money fair and not by stealing. I am really disappointed. read more

I've gotten brand-new unworn un-hemmed citizens of humanity jeans here before for $50, but they don't take much from you if you bring in a bunch of brand-name clothing. I always find cute stuff here for cheap cheap. There is not a ton of parking in the area and no designated lot. read more

I just discovered Current Boutique. I actually wanted to purchase shoes online from them but I wasn't sure of the quality of the stuff they had. I took a visit to the store and loved everything. Everything looked "almost new". I went ahead and ordered 2 pairs of shoes. I LOVVEEEEE THEM!! It's like they were worn maybe once and the price was amazing. Where do I begin?! A friend told me about Current Boutique and mentioned they sell high end labels. I thought perfect I have a bunch of med to high end things that is in really good condition or brand new with tags still on it. After the sales associate went through 2 bags of my belongings they only took 4 items which ALL items still had the price tags on them. I specifically asked if my belongings didn't sell can I get them back? The sales associate said yes as long as I pick them up before 90 days from the date I consigned them. I called yesterday (approx. 70 days after I consigned) to see if my belongings had sold. I gave the sales associate my name and all of a sudden the phone disconnects so I call back and gave her my name again and the reason for my call. The sales associate was really RUDE and told me I have no money in my account, my belongings didn't sell and were donated. I mentioned to her I was told I could have my belongings back if they didn't sell as long as it was within the 90 days from consigning. The sales associate responds with ATTITUDE that it was written in my contract that any unsold items are donated. I told her I was never emailed a copy of my contract like I was told they would. She then hung up the phone on me. It became clear to me that this was done on purpose. I find it hard to believe my brand new items with tags still on them didn't sell?! I saw what they had in the store and more than half of the merchandise they carry was so worn and over priced I don't know who would spend that kind of money on merchandise in that condition!!! I know I wouldn't. When they say donated I bet they meant donated to the sales associates closets!!! I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT in this store much less recommend to anyone not even my worst enemy. read more

I used to go to Current Boutique when I lived in Logan circle and really liked it. However, the Clarendon location is just not the same. I have to agree with some of the earlier reviews about terrible customer service. The store was not busy at all and the two employees stood at the counter chatting with each other. While one was helpful in getting a fitting room started, not one of them checked in with me or the other woman trying on clothes in the dressing room to see how things were fitting or inquire if anyone needed a different size. The only thing the employee was concerned about was making sure I brought the dresses out of the dressing room when I was done and instead of offering to help she simply pointed to where I should put them on her empty rack so she wouldn't have to move or take a break from chatting. No thanks for coming, no sorry it didn't work out, no have a nice day. Some better sales people would really improve the experience and boost sales! read more

Maybe good for shopping but definitely not consigning. I have brought in two loads of clothing over the past couple of years to sell there. The first time I brought in pairs of Tory Burch mint condition shoes-never worn in the box, many BCBG dresses worn maybe once and in pristine condition and the second time dresses with the tags and original price still marked. Maybe $700.00 dollars of merch the first time and $300.00 the second. I received a check for $15.00 the first go round and a week ago I called them to find out what my balance was and they said $30.00. Seriously ?????, something very sketchy is going on there. I obviously don't expect full price back but most this stuff was practically brand new and some of it actually was. Never again, I would rather give it away to my friends daughters or charity over this place. My one star is for the average shopper who steps in to look around. Good selection. Must be nice not to have to pay for your inventory of slightly used merchandise. read more
