This consignment boutique is one of my favorite spots to go thrifting for quality, high end pieces. Everything is reasonably priced considering the boutique curates the pieces that are on display and only accepts good pieces! I have shopped here a handful of times and I am always amazed at the quality of clothes and the name brands at affordable prices. I got some like new Lululemon leggings for only $39 with tax! If you love thrifting but don't want to have to sift through worn out or pilled clothes, this is the spot. Everything is organized by category and size. There's also dressing rooms so you don't have to experience the disappointment of thrifting something and taking it home and it not fitting. Everything here is in excellent shape and looks brand new despite being designer or vintage! The boutique owner definitely has great style with all the pieces inside. I included pictures of some of the cool clothing from last time I went.

I am a patron of Current Boutique, consignment in Arlington, Virginia. On Wednesday, February 28th, at 1 pm, I visited the store for an appraisal on my nude-colored Christian Louboutin Pigalle Pumps 120. I asked a clerk who was wearing a leopard print shirt layered with a black leather bustier to take a look at my shoes. Prior to conducting any assessment, the attending clerk requested a certificate of authenticity, a requirement I had not encountered previously. I explained that, due to the shoes' age of six years, I did not have anything but the shoebox. However, I assured her that upon examination, the shoes would align with the standards of authenticity observed in other Louboutin products within the store. Disregarding my explanation, she declined to proceed further, citing the shoes' condition as too worn. Inquiring about the criteria for consignment, I received no definitive response from the clerk. Additionally, my request for a second opinion was met with rudeness as she curtly dismissed the notion, claiming to have already assessed the shoes. Subsequently, I expressed interest in viewing a pair of peep-toe Louboutins displayed for sale, only to find them in a severely deteriorated state, lacking the signature red sole. I am a regular customer at this location as I work in the area. Just a few weeks prior I went into the shop with a pair of Jimmy Choo pumps that weren't in the best condition but I at least received a fair quote and treatment. And the clerk didn't ask for a certificate of authenticity. I'm sure this behavior definitely falls below acceptable standards of customer service. I've attached the shoes below for reference. They sold in less than 24 hours on Poshmark.

Dahlia does such a great job with the window display. She really knows fashion.

When they moved to McLean earlier this year, I went with about 20 items to put up for consignment. (I had made appointment as they require.) I brought in beautiful clothes, in excellent condition. They took the boxes to the back to inspect the clothing and choose which they wanted to take for consignment; and while that was going on I browsed. I couldn't believe the downgrade in the clothing; while the quality was fine, I did not see anything stylish for sale. I was not even tempted to try anything on. After about 20 minutes the owner comes back and says she cannot take any of my items, although she would consider one in the fall (it was a spring/summer item, as were all the pieces, as this took place in mid-Spring) and I "could come back in a few months." Super dismissive and arrogant. The one good thing was the friendly young man at the counter, who I chatted with while I waited. I see the positive reviews here are years old, so here's an update: NTY management is just as or even more snobby now, the prices are even higher -- not just because of time passing but also likely the expensive location -- and they don't even have cool clothes any more.

Not a lot of recent reviews for New To You--well, I'm here to change that. I had a nice experience…read moreon my recent first visit to this store. The staff were visible and ready to help but not pushy. The inventory was well curated and full but not overly stuffed. I saw a number of nice sweaters and dresses that I liked, and I ended up buying one. Also a lot of fun gifts, jewelry, and assorted decor items. This store is geared toward an older crowd, which I really like. I'm past the age of shopping at some other resale boutiques that focus on only the trendiest items in juniors sizing. New To You is more JCrew and higher-end items. Prices seemed to be about 50 percent off original retail. Could you find some of these items thrifting? Sure, but it'd be like pulling a needle from a haystack. I'm willing to pay more for a tailored selection of good-condition items. I'll come back to shop here.

Kyrsten helped me figure out what diamond cut, setting, carat size, and even ring size suited me best, and she was incredibly patient explaining everything along the way. I especially loved that they had both timeless and vintage-inspired options, since I was drawn to an Old European cut with a solitaire cathedral setting. The whole visit felt relaxed, informative, and never pushy. We left feeling much more confident about what to look for and really appreciated how helpful everyone was.

Everything is custom made so they only have the diamonds and a few sample holders that you can hold the diamond in with tweezers and hover in the sample ring band. We are in the initial phases of ring shopping so we haven't gotten too far in the process with Ascot. What I will say is I was also initially disappointed with the customer service. The man helping us didn't seem super friendly. He seems passionate about talking about his ring knowledge but not about MY experience if that makes sense. I was probably being a bit cranky that the ring shop wasn't what I expected. So maybe he was giving me the same energy in return. They had tons of diamond choices, but if you're looking for larger carat sizes you might not find it here. He only brought out the carat sizes in 2-3 carat range. I believe they can order what you want, but they didn't have anything in store to try on. When I asked to see a bigger carat for the emerald he said that's all they had (size 3 carat). There weren't a ton of band selections in office to try on either. They have lab and natural diamonds. I didn't see the process but my boyfriend said the prices were reasonable. Just remember they price everything out individually since you're customizing the ring. Also, the ambiance of the ring shop wasn't the best. It just looked like an office which made the experience not feel as special like "wow! I'm in a ring shop and we are really doing this." All of that is part of the experience when shopping. You need to book an appointment in advance. There's street parking, but you have to pay for the street or garage parking. There's no parking validation available. Overall, we might give them another chance once I have a better idea of what it is I want. If you're not sure what you want this might not be the place for you since everything is based on you customizing it. I really want to like this place but I wish they made the experience a bit nicer on their customers. They offer 3D print option of the ring which takes some time but that's the best they can do for us visual folks.

*Pre-COVID Review* I…read morehave scored some great finds here, but other reviewers are correct in stating that the owner (Eleanor) is sketchy. Yes, I suspect that she does cut the tag off of newer items in order to pass them off as vintage or luxury. And yes, I have been followed around the store and been treated with suspicion during some visits to the store. One visit in particular stands out to me. I received an email stating that everything in the store was 20% off. So I arrived to check out the sale and, as someone who manages retail, I recognize the associate's (blonde woman who said she was a costumer designer from southern VA) relentless customer service as a tactic to prevent people from stealing. Like, she wouldn't leave me alone to try on the clothes and make my decisions in peace - this is an anti theft tactic. The idea is that the potential thief will be discouraged from stealing if the associate provides suffocating customer service: following the individual closely and being overly attentive in the hopes that it will make them think twice about skipping out with merch. Literally, she was with me the ENTIRE hour I was in there to try on vintage trousers. She had this uncomfortable, concerned look in between talking to me. I really resent this because I used to work up the street, and would come in pretty regularly to check out new items and make purchases. Eleanor even offered to give me a discount since she said she liked my figure, and since I could fit a lot of the smaller items in her store. So the service is bizarrely hot and cold here. In regards to duping customers with fake vintage items. She tried to tell me that velveteen skater dress was an original Betsy Jonson. HAHA! She had multiples of the dress and the quality of the velveteen sucked, in addition to the fact that there was no tag on it. It didn't have the quality or construction worthy of a handmade original, and Betsey Johnson isn't that hot anymore so it was a pretty dated dupe. I suggest learning of some new, coveted designers if you're going to try to impress or rip off someone I'm their 20s. My mom is a vintage and antique dealer, and we're from San Francisco: I grew up shopping vintage so I know ehat to look for. Instead of this place, I suggest visiting Mercedes Bien Vintage in Adam's Morgan (neighborhood in DC). She is the longest operating vintage dealer in DC, has fab finds, and a younger clientele (so stuff you actually want to wear vs victorian skirts...)! She also doesn't discriminate against her customers, so go check her out!
