I never leave negative reviews... but this store has completely fallen apart under the new "owners". The quality of the inventory is terrible, and pricing makes no sense--lower-end items are overpriced while real luxury pieces are undervalued because they don't understand designer brands. They also don't authenricate so you may be buying fakes. Additionally, when I asked to get my consigned items back (brand-new Ferragamo black pumps and YSL boots (worth $2,000 retail)) the staff seemed lost in their own system. They first said I'd already been paid for it (looking at my other sales), then claimed my consignment had "expired"after 90 days--even though it had only been about 70 days. They eventually admitted they couldn't find my items and said it must have been "stolen" and gave me just a $50 credit (Their contract states they aren't liable for lost or stolen goods, so consigners get no reimbursement), so please don't bring your high-end items here. They are disorganized, inexperienced, and unprofessional. If you want real expertise, integrity, and quality good go to New To You, where I've shopped and consigned for over 15 years--they know their brands, have high end goods prices right and take care of their consignors. Or any of the Current Boutique locations! (I don't work or get paid for promoting these stores..I just don't want anyone to be a victim of Mint like I've been)! read more

BLUF: overrun with Alexandria's privileged who want to look like they have money. This is also a shared space between adult and children's consignment. While waiting patiently for way too long for my child to try on one dress, we watched a lady walk in as if entitled to consign things without an appointment and the obsequious, young employees kowtowed to that privileged lady. Meanwhile, my daughter had to go to the bathroom to try on the dress after waiting for at least 15 minutes while other women were hogging the dressing rooms. We decided that this place is not worth our time or money. read more

I used to love both buying and selling here. I'm not sure what else changed besides the location but the employees are so standoffish and not welcoming. The store is difficult to browse in - very hard to look in the cases of designer accessories. And the woman who does the consignments is just a straight-up liar about what they do and don't take. Mint Condition is similar to Mustard Seed and Current Boutique but with better jewelry. My sizes ranged from 6-14 (I know). I've always found something to buy. Granted, I usually purchase jewelry, wallets and bags but the savings are considerable. I've shopped and cosigned at this location for over 5 years. I'm an African American women and never felt discriminated against, disrespected or followed. While working for a Boutique in DC, theft in general was a problem. So, when I go upstairs and the sales associate follows me I make it a point to ask for help with something --- they always oblige. I've seen them do the same with other nationalities. I enjoy this little shop so much and I hope you will too. Note- I deducted one star for not having a large selection of size 14s. read more

I have consigned with them and I have purchased items from them. Consignment experience: They're hot and cold with how they want to work with you. I've brought a cart full of bags and a top the first time I attempted to consign with them. I had Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Steve Madden, MZ Wallace, and I'm not sure what else for bags. For the top, it was Ann Taylor. The lady who went through my items for consignment looked me up and down, gave me a fake smile, and said they don't accept any of the brands for the bags I brought and that the top had a snag in it. My reaction and response was, "Okay, I understand." HOWEVER, I follow them on Instagram and saw that they were selling brands like Tommy Hilfiger and other "more affordable brands" in their Instagram stories, even bags with NO BRAND. They even stated it. For example, "No brand, only (insert price here, like $9.99). I was really upset, because that Tommy Hilfiger bag was cheaper-looking than what I offered them. They were selling it for around $20 I believe, while the one I had shown them was a large women's business bag in sleek black leather and gold trimmings with the logo tag. I had my suspicions that they were probably discriminating against me when I tried to consign with them, whether it be for my appearance, the way I dressed (not rich enough for them), or for trying to sell a bunch of bags at once. Had I put more effort into my clothes and hair and brought one of my luxury bags, maybe then they would've consigned with me. My shopping experience: I've purchased a few items from them before. If you shop through their Instagram account or via phone call, they are pleasant enough. If you go to their store in-person, they'll be nicer to you if you're dressed nice. If you don't dress nice or look a certain way that meets their standards, they may... keep checking up on you. It can get. uncomfortable. read more

My first and only attempt to consign with them turn me off from even shopping at their store. The staff were such glib snobs and they treat you based on how you dress. Consigned a small collection of Burberry items with Mint Condition. After a few items sold, I decided to pick up the remaining items. I was told upon my arrival they could not find my Burberry Brit sweatshirt ($300 sweatshirt) and they would call me within a few days when they found out where it was. I never received a call, I called again and they told me they lost it/ could not find it. My original review gave Mint Condition 1 star however, the owner personally called me and apologized for the staff and for the loss of my item. She also refunded the cost of the sweatshirt. Toni is lovely, sweet and does run a great business! I will be shopping at Mint Condition in the near future. read more

One of my favorite hobbies is designer and luxury consignment and thrift.... and Mint Condition did not disappoint! I particularly like consignment with lots of variety, with a great selection of high end designer finds as well as a good selection of more affordable pieces. Mint Condition has everything you could want- everything from gorgeous channel suits to awesome Zara blazers and a great denim selection. I wanted to see some more bags, but they had a lot of shoes in many sizes! This spot has finds for every budget. I ended up with a beautiful Veronica Beard blazer and couldn't be happier. read more

Not sure how I feel about this consignment shop. It's tiny but they can pack a lot in there. The lower floor consists of clothing items: tops, bottoms, skirts, etc. The upper floor has more of my favorite things like shoes and handbags. They have an awesome selection of designers. I saw some Manolos, Prada, and may have seen a pair of Jimmy Choo's. They had a lot of Coach handbags which are eh, but what makes me feel like I'm unsure about this place is how they price their items. I mean, I don't feel like I need to spend $90 on a medium used Coach bag when you can get a new one for just about the same price at the outlet. I know Manolos can run anywhere from $500 to thousands of dollars but for used Manolos I don't think I would spend $200 or $300 or whatever they were asking. So while they do have great designers, I think they price the items somewhat on the higher side compared to other consignment shops I've visited. read more

Consignment relies on consignees having good taste, or at the very least, taste which mirrors that of their customers. That said, I think the folks making the buying decisions at Mint Condition know their clientele very well. If you want a tweed Brooks Brother's suit, come here. These days, every recessionista is scratching her head trying to find a way to nab a new outfit for Friday night without breaking the bank. Enter Mint Condition: a consignment boutique whose selection is as sweet as its owner, Toni Henderson. The store's inventory has amassed through her network of DC friends who see the value in clearing their closets of gently worn designer items to make a little money off of skirts that scream, "This is too nice to throw out, but I never wear it." I've never been to a consignment store before, so I arrived at Mint Condition's opening last week unsure of what to expect. My trepidation melted away the second I stepped in and spotted several A list items: a Pucci top, DVF wrap dress and Gucci heels. There are also rows of more casual gear, including seersucker shorts and an Ella Moss skirt I'm still wishing I had bought. The space itself is adorable- Henderson has converted an old row house into two levels of retail therapy. The light pink and mint motif sets the perfect environment to get your guilt-free shop on. I finally stopped by Mint Condition today after I dropped off consignments at Current Boutique (another consignment store closeby). I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I turned the corner and saw Gucci, Tory Burch, and other kewl brands. Lots of really cute stuff was in stock today. They don't have tons of stuff, but what they have is definitely quality. True to its name, everything is in amazing condition. I mean, new condition, really, even without tags. So many cute fan-say dresses and no where to wear them. Grr. So, I searched for more casual items. I ended up getting a blouse, a dress, a pair of earrings, a cute little ring, and an awesome bracelet for under $90. Unreal. Also, unreal --- I'm Yelp Elite and I didn't check in to redeem my 10% off one item offer. WTH. Maybe I'll go back soon and use it, cuz I will definitely be back. read more

I visited this store over the summer while my mom was in town, so maybe things have changed since then, but honestly my experience bothered me so much, I'm just writing about it now. I generally don't write low star reviews because I know how Yelp affects smbs. Anyway, I had been following Mint Condition on Instagram for a couple of months and finally decided to drop in while my mom was visiting from out of town. We visited the store on a quiet afternoon and were the only patrons in the store. When we walked in, the salesperson was taking a personal call and did not even wave or say hello or acknowledge us while we were looking around the store. I understand that sometimes you have to take a personal call at work, but a "hi, welcome in, I have to take this call" would have been sufficient. I probably would have bought something because the store is really cute, but didn't because I felt ignored, so I didn't. read more

I noticed they had the same item on the floor that I wanted to consign, however, they priced my brand new item much less. I have been to this establishment a number times before and I haven't had the most pleasant experiences. Most times I have stopped in there have been middle aged women working and I have always felt uncomfortable or unwanted when in shopping, after looking at some of these reviews I see I'm not the only one. The establishment comes off very entitled and often unorganized with clothes everywhere, on the desk, the floor etc. I feel as if I can't even walk around to shop, and the employees barely interact with you. Although one day I came in and there were a few young girls working who look like they had to have been in high school and they were very pleasant young ladies. I did find it quite odd that there was no manager/higher authority on staff with them considering it was a Saturday and very busy, it must have been stressful on these young ladies but they managed to make everyone feel welcome with all the chaos. After my experiences with Mint Condition I don't think I will be returning after the lack of customer service and organization in the store. read more

I don't leave reviews, but was moved to leave this one because I was so disheartened by my experience. I'm a black woman and 100% felt like the older white woman working at the store was following me. I hate that I even have to write this. And while they could respond saying that wasn't the case, that's how I was made to feel. Believe it or not, not all black people steal. In addition to that, I had my 8-month-old baby with me. I couldn't have possibly even looked "sketchy." But two times, I felt the woman go out of her way to peek into the room I was in - trying to quickly sneak a glance without me noticing, but I did. One time upstairs, she must've even felt I was catching on because when I saw her moving around some hangers, she looked at me and said, "oh, I don't even remember why I came up here." It was as if she was trying to preemptively address any question I would've had about being followed. All in all, I left feeling so uncomfortable. And honestly, almost ashamed, though I did nothing wrong. Needless to say, I won't be returning. read more

My tip for true bargain hunters like myself is to head directly upstairs to the room that has the jeans on shelves on one wall and the evening dresses in a closet. This magical room is where the $25 and under bag lives. And the sale rack. Everything else is priced a tad on the high side, especially for consignment/ vintage items. But the labels are designer for sure. Channel suit? Check. Barely worn Manolos? Double check. I came here today during Old Town's Sidewalk Sale, and I left a happy customer! The entryway is a tad squished, but you can choose to walk to your right, left, or go upstairs. I went to my right, and the girls working there were upbeat and greeted me with a friendly "hello!" I liked how the store was organized, with dresses in one area, shirts and bottoms in another, and the sale section upstairs. Jewelry was spread throughout the store. I think they had a good size distribution no matter what you were looking at. The pricing sort of amazed me - I saw Kate Spade and other similarly-branded items for under $100. I ended up getting an awesome jeweled necklace at a fantastic price. I liked how I didn't feel overwhelmed by other people being in the same space at the same time as me; a positive nod to store design. On the other hand, I wish the tops were on a lower rack because it was hard to see them and pick them off. I am more apt to buy a shirt from a consignment store than shorts/skirts. It's much easier to find a nicely fitting top than a bottom in my opinion. Bottom line: this store has a great selection of clothes and accessories at unbelievable prices! Today was the 4th time I had been in Mint Condition (MC), in casual walking sports gear shopping through my neighborhood. I just moved to Old Town from DC and was happy to find a cute store with potential. I found quality pieces which fit my size XS! However, 3 of the 4 times I've experienced really appalling customer service from an old wrinkled faced sales lady named Donna. My perception is that she was racist and unhappy. The first and only time to collected clothing to try in 1st floor dressing room Donna told me not to 1) fondle through the other clothes rack to look for additional items to bring to my dressing room as she just arranged them the clothing neatly already and I was messing it up; and 2) she interrupted me from enjoying my experience of trying clothes to place all the clothes back on the hangers. Mind you, the clothes I did not want were already hung for sales associates to return to the floor. I politely asked her why I needed to hang the clothes that I was purchasing back on the hanger if they were going to be taken off the hanger anyway. I also pointed out the clothes that I had hung for her to return to shelves. She assumed the worse from me and accused me very wrongly. This is inappropriate behavior. Today was my first time to return to the store, first time to consign. In the store no more than 5 minutes, greeted by a sales associate. There was no one in line by the counter or any customers/sales associates that side of the room upon my arrival. As such, I was asked to work with the sales associate on the left front of the cashiers desk. A couple minutes I had signed to register for consignment, Donna, brought another customer to the register. I was learning the process to consign and instructed to complete a waiver. Donna asked me rudely to move from where I was standing just a few inches from the counter so she could pass to get the clip board to get clients to sign consignment registration form right side of me. The clip board was in-between Donna and I (my left, her right). She could of reached her arm to pick-up the clip board; and if she really needed to get something else, she could of walked around me and the other sales associate to get what she needed. I don't understand her rudeness. Who hires a place with who treats new and returning customers this way. Distasteful and unprofessional. I don't care what this place offers, if they do have anything to offer, I did not have the opportunity to make that decision. read more

Of the consignment shops I've visited in downtown Alexandria (three), I think this would be my favorite. The shop itself is very large, and is very well organized (by colors and by size). I didn't end up purchasing anything on my most recent trip, but I thought they had a really great selection of stuff. I found a beautiful $10 (!!!) yellow silk beaded dress by Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti in the clearance section, but unfortunately it was just way too small. I found most of the prices to be very reasonable, taking into account that clothing has been worn before, but they are still designer brand. However, one thing I noted when looking closely at the tags is that there are two prices on the tags. One is the normal price, and another is the price for about 3 months after the piece of clothing was brought in for about half off. So, if something has been there quite awhile, the price drops. I'm not sure if this was on all the clothing, but I saw it on several pieces - definitely a great way to find a steal! read more

I love this store! I recently moved and I'm sad I can't shop there anymore. I've found some amazing items here: over the knee brown suede boots, never worn, original retail $1,200!!! I paid $100. A royal blue designer cocktail dress in perfect condition and much much more! Also love the J. Crew selection. The staff was always very friendly and helpful. Be careful not to step on the tiny dog that runs around the store! I prefered to go on weekday evenings when it's less crowded. The weekends can get a little crazy there. read more

Beautiful pieces (if it fits). Not good but not great. I've visited twice in hopes of a better selection and each time, I walk away empty handed. I understand the concept of quality over quantity. However, when it comes to consignment, a certain amount of volume is necessary. When I'm on the hunt for a dress and you only have six or seven dresses in my size the odds are stacked against me. The alignment of the fashion stars: fit, cut, material and style have be there for me to shell out top dollar (and they charge it) for an item. Challenges aside, their ambiance is charming. The employees seemed kind enough. Although ... they were a little heavy on the room deodorizer which set off my suspicious thrift shopper alarm (what are they hiding, etc?). That won't keep me away though. It's the nature of consignment; you find a quality store and you keep coming back hoping to find THE piece. I'll ignore the odds and hope for the best! read more

What an absolutely delightful store! I stopped in this morning and was very pleased with the wonderful selection of clothing, shoes and accessories. The store is bright and inviting. This Old Town gem takes consignment to a whole new level! The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. The clothing is in great condition and neatly arranged making it easy to go through and find the right pieces. I left with an awesome dress and blouse at an incredible price.
