Curry Gate is always a good idea. My husband and I love their other location so we were excited to try this new location and be able to dine in. We went with two other friends and shared: - Veg Momo - Samosa Chaat - Gobi 65 - Chicken Makhani - Chana Masala - Bhindi Masala You can't go wrong at Curry Gate. Everything was delicious. I've never been a big fan of Okra, but the Bhindi Masala was my favorite thing we got! You can customize your spice level. We got 4 which is still very spicy in some dishes (the Gobi 65 especially). This is one of the few places in Charlotte you can get momo, so they're a must for me. This is one of my favorite spots for Indian food in Charlotte. Right off the bat, the place smells amazing inside. The food is so good too. I got the Aloo Gobi and Tandoori Chicken. The flavors were great. You can even choose your spice level from 1-10. But I'm not giving this place a 5 stars because I didn't really understand the service. It took the waiter a while to take our order and for the food to come out. And also it wasn't really clear how to pay, whether they were bringing the checks out or if we should pay upfront. So, we all sat there for like 15 minutes until I went up and asked and they were like yes you can pay upfront. But then we also saw waiters bringing checks to other tables. Just strange. But we had a group of 7 so maybe it was overwhelming for them to bring out checks, I don't know. Probably a good place for takeout though. read more

The food is always great here. I have been coming here for a few years now and have never had a bad experience. There should be a line out the door every day, but the restaurant is rarely full. The food is AWESOME! Move over Blue Taj and Coppers as this spot has the best Indian cuisine in Charlotte. The food is beautifully prepared and ever so wonderfully seasoned. This was my 4 visit and my favorite dishes are chili chicken and Manchurian chicken meatballs. The chefs do incredible jobs with spices and flavors and presentation. This is a 5 star experience. Wow! This place is low key but seriously beyond amazing. Every thing I tasted was delicious and authentic. The service was great, Shanti had excellent suggestions on spiciness level as well as on the popular menu items. I got the "65" and the Makhani (butter) goat with plain naan. I also ordered a Nepali tea, which meshed beautifully with the textures and spices on the plates. The place has a very straightforward ambiance with delicate background Indian music. This is my second time at this establishment and it will not be my last. Sai was amazing. She is an amazing server with her very outgoing personality. She catered to our every need and made us feel very welcomed. The food was amazing. We ordered Shrimp briyani, shrimp curry, okra masala, vegetable momos, and chicken momos. (they need longer tables lol) Everything was amazing per usual. I suggest spice level 2 is you can't handle spicy food, but still want a kick. As far as the environment, it's very pleasant. Very casual and good for the whole family. I also love that they serve bottled drinks, so you can just carry them out when you leave. In short, 5 star service all around. I will be back very soon. THE BEST INDIAN FOOD IN CHARLOTTE! Hands down. I love that it's authentic Indian food. The curry flavors and the dishes they have are amazing. I think it's hard to find a spot that has as much charm and authenticity as curry gate but they nailed it. The service was spot on. They were very patient with my friend and I who could not decide what we wanted to try. Explained the flavors and the dishes to help us make the right decision. The makhani butter chicken is some of the best I've tried in the charlotte area. We got the fried okra and the garlic naan and chicken momo (dumplings) that were spot on. Went on a Sunday evening and got in right before the dinner rush. It's an assuming little place right off of south boulevard with plenty of parking. Walked in and was seated right away, service was quick and attentive. On this trip I decided to go for the samosas, gobi Manchurian (spice level 8), and lamb vindaloo (spice 7). The samosas were good but not great, I prefer mine with seasoning on the outside. The gobi manchurian was awesome and I couldn't stop eating it, extremely flavorful and had a nice crunch on the outside which I loved. To finish the meal, the lamb vindaloo hit the spot. The lamb was perfectly cooked and so tender you could break it apart by thinking about it. Loved this vindaloo especially because it wasn't overly oily at all like some places serve. Spice warning I've got a pretty good spice tolerance and levels 7 and 8 were perfect for me. If you don't have a good spice tolerance definitely play it safe and go somewhere on the lower half of their scale of 10. Overall great place would definitely come here again. My only complaint is that after I finished it took me ~20 minutes to get the check. Not sure whatever the reason but I couldn't get anyone's attention even they would walk right by my table, pretty frustrating. read more

Food was delicious but I prefer the service at their 24th street location. Our server seemed disinterested. She brought bottled water without asking which they do charge you for! She seemed bothered when we asked about some dishes and didn't come to check on us once the food arrived. We had to go to ask for the bill at the counter. The place was empty expect for one table that was half done where we came in and other people. I would go back for the food if it's a Sunday since 24th street is closed but it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

I've heard a lot of this spot place, I finally had the chance to check it out. This definitely gives my favorite Indian restaurant a run for its money. We started with the onion pakoras for an appetizer, the portion was huge! For our entrees, we ordered the dum biryani and Manchurian gravy with chicken, and chili garlic naan. The Manchurian, with its unique blend of Indo-Chinese flavors, was our favorite. The biryani and naan are classics and didn't disappoint. We were offered a sample of their gulab jamun, a traditional Indian dessert consisting of fried dough balls soaked in sweet syrup. It was a great way of finishing our meal and a thoughtful gesture. Found this place on Yelp when we got stuck in North Carolina because our flights kept getting cancelled simple little establishment no frills bills or whistles. It was clean and the staff was courteous. They served us water which was free and every single one ofthe dishes we ordered was exceptional. Everything tasted so good. Never in a million years would I have thought I would find one of the best Indian/Nepali Curry restaurants in North Carolina of all places... but I did. Traveling to NC for work, I ate at Curry Gate 3 times. I wish I had more time/chances to eat there again... The Tikka Masala and Butter Curries were thick, rich, flavorful and creamy. Paired with Garlic Naan and Basmati Rice these meals were heavenly. They have true spice, so be weary if you order something hotter than a Level 4 (out of 10). Operating out of an old Pizza Hut, there was a sort of nostalgia eating inside the restaurant. Their staff were super friendly and courteous, and the food came fairly quickly. I ordered take out twice and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their insulated take-out bags. To the point that I actually saved them to bring back home to remember the great food I had. I really want to thank the staff there for providing quality food and service. I really hope more people will stumble across your restaurant and experience amazing curry dishes like I have. read more

I finally tried this location! The lady who took my order was nice and helpful when I asked for descriptions. I ordered to go so I didn't really get the whole sit down experience! I got The half Tandoori Chicken spice level 3 w/ garlic naan. I was taken by surprise when they said it didn't come with any sides like rice or vegetables. But I'm not sure if that's a cultural thing. So I ended up eating it with the naan bread, red onions, & some tzatziki dip I already had. The chicken had a nice earthy herby flavor. Level 3 was the perfect "mild" spice to me. I could still taste the other flavors it was giving. The naan wasn't the best today it was a bit burnt and chewy. Next time I think I'll stick to my main dish which is the chicken curry spice level 4. But I'll for sure be back! read more

The samosa chat was very flavorful and served warm which I liked. Was definitely enough for two-three meals. The naan was just okay. It was very thin and had a slight baking soda flavor. Not much taste for naan with dried fruit and cashew in it. I've had naan that was fluffier which I prefer. Overall it was a good experience and I would definitely try them again. read more

ALOO GOBI- Cauliflower and potato cooked with homemade spice - Somehow I missed eating this dish, but when I return to Curry Gate on one of my many upcoming visits, I will report back the findings of my taste buds. PALAK PANEER - Spinach cooked w/ cheese & ice cream - A classic curry dish, that made me say, "ooh," at the very first taste. LOVED IT. - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. This was my first time trying Indian cuisine so the staff was very polite in explaining each dish and it's ingredients. Massive, tasty portions, good enough to share. We come here often and always take home some food. Curry is to die for. My son loves the lamb biryani, also a massive portion that can be shared with at least 2 people. Naan bread is fresh. Clean tables and bathrooms. Service is fast, and servers are helpful.
