Palak(Saag) was pretty good. High standard stuff for Indian cuisine from what I've tasted. The chicken in the saag was dreadful, absolutely horrible. I was served fast and got a plentiful portion. Naan was good and rice was fine. The 4$ soup I had was also pleasant 4/5.

Always delicious. Samosa chaat and traditional curry are our usuals. Tried the chicken tikka (dry not masala) this time. It was pretty good, but will stick with the curry entree next time. Large portions means looking forward to leftovers. Food came in a nice, reusable to go bag

Really good indian food and great service! I ordered the chicken tikka masala and loved it. It also came with so much food!! Will definitely be back.

We've ordered from this location several times. We've ordered a variety of their dishes in the past but tonight we ordered the Garlic Naan Bread, Chana Masala, Palak Paneer, Butter Chicken and Tikka Masala. It was all flavorful, but I feel like the containers were not as full as they have been in the past. The Butter Chicken had small sized diced chicken and the Tikka Masala had bigger chunks of chicken. We are a family of 4 and I normally get 2 servings for each of us out of their meals but tonight we had hardly any left from the order we placed. The sauces are delicious! I can eat that alone with the Basmati Rice. I was a bit disappointed on the lack of chicken in the main dishes as there was an abundance more of the sauce than the protein. Overall, it was a good dinner for our family.

Tasty and delicious, we are slowly eating our way through Charlotte's South Asian restaurants. Curry Gate 2 was a hit. This time, we're eating at dinner time so with my chicken curry and my wife's vegetarian curry, we were able to enjoy the garlic and chilli naan. Good sized portions and the spice levels worked well here. For us 2 and 3 were just right for some burn but enough that we could still taste the flavor. Of course, half of it went home in containers because there's quite a lot. Friendly service, clean restaurant, good food. It's five stars. This place has been on my bucket list for a while now so I'm so glad I was finally able to give it a try and I was not disappointed! They have both Indian and Nepalese dishes, but for our visit, my friends and I got the Indian dishes (chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, and chana masala) with some garlic and butter naan on the side. Two side portions of rice were brought out for us to share as well. Everything was super delicious and flavorful. I like how you can customize the spice levels and it'll definitely add some heat so proceed with caution. I also thought that everything was decently portioned. I only finished about half of my tikka masala dish and had the other half to take home. Our server was Puja, and she was super sweet! Very attentive and efficient as well. She thoroughly explained the spice levels and answered any questions that we had. She made sure we were well taken care of! If you're looking for Indian or Nepalese food in the area, definitely give Curry Gate a try as you will not be disappointed. I can't wait to return to try other dishes!

This was my first time eating at this location and it didn't disappoint! I typically get the Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken as my top choices for Indian food. The mango lassi was good if you like yogurt and mango. This will taste a bit sour. The service was fast and the staff were friendly. Ambiance is chill and causal. If you're in the south blvd area check them out!

Food is AMAZING!!! Stumbled across this place while killing time and stopped in for a bit. My favorite is the chicken tikka masala with rice and a side of garlic naan. Everything came out in a timely manner, hot and well prepared. The service was ok, wasn't too busy today. The ambiance is also pretty decent, nothing spectacular to really tell about. It is clean inside and plenty seating.

We found this gem, and let me tell you--it was amazing! As empty nesters, we love trying top-rated restaurants, and Curry Gate 2 did not disappoint. We didn't feel like cooking, so we decided to check it out, and we're so glad we did. If you're a lover of curry and spicy food, this is your spot! We went in person to order takeout and were immediately greeted by the most delicious aroma. The gentleman at the register was incredibly helpful, making sure we got the perfect spice level--not too much, not too light. We ordered the Vindaloo, Korma, Chili Garlic Naan, and Tandoori Chicken--everything was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. Even though the place was packed, the service was great, and everything ran smoothly. Next time, we'll definitely be dining in because this place deserves to be fully enjoyed! Curry Gate 2 is a gem that should not be overlooked.

Compared to the original, the second Curry Gate is a bit more of a restaurant with traditional table service. It's nothing fancy; it looks like a repurposed Pizza Hut, but the food they're producing is vastly better than the Hut, and the smell wafts over to the train station nearby. My mulligatawny soup had some delightful green peas to liven it up. My okra, however, was really lively due to me getting 8/10 on the spice scale. I like chili peppers as much as the next guy, but I didn't want to go any spicier than that, as an 8/10 was plenty enough to clear my sinuses. An abundance of vegan options are available, as are some Nepali specialties. Drink options are limited, and they're bringing out a bottled water for free for some reason, but you'll not likely find better food of this sort in this area.

We started with an order on samosas which were really good and they had a nice kick. We did chicken biryani and the nalan special curry and naan bread. Everything was really good and packed with flavor. Will definitely return! Tara was our waitress a d was really nice!

Immediately, I liked how the place had a nice, comfy vibe with good A/C and great, relaxing overhead music. The hostess was also on top of things, in that she read the reservation notes, and led us to a choice seat by the wall. The waiter assigned to us was very attentive and courteous. So all around, I felt the ambiance and service was very good. Now the food! We decided to share everything and ordered various items: Garlic Naan, Pakora Brussels Sprouts, Chicken Biryani and Nalan Chicken Curry, which came with white rice. Of everything ordered, my favorite was the Biryani. First of all, the portion was HUGE...enough to feed 4. I liked the long grain rice, and the flavor was good. I was a bit puzzled by the presentation though. All the chicken was buried underneath. Also, way too much onion garnishing on top...which I didn't find appetizing or aesthetically pleasing either. Think I would have liked this better if some veggies were included (not just the onions...possibly my least favorite veggie?). This has been my running criticism with Indian foods... I appreciate the flavors, but I don't like how the tasty veggies are rarely included (or barely visible!) in the entrees. We both enjoyed the Garlic Naan (just wished there were a bit more?), and Brussels Sprouts had a good flavor, but the batter was so hard and thick, it was hard to eat (could barely use the fork for this). So frankly, I didn't love the texture of this fried veggie appetizer. As for the Chicken Curry, I just didn't love the flavor. It was very different though. In the past, I always opted for Chicken Tikala...and I definitely prefer the more buttery flavor of that over this special curry. Guess I liked some of the foods...but not all. Despite being underwhelmed with some of the foods, we still enjoyed the overall dining experience here...and would likely return. I think I'll be trying other items on the menu though.

AVOID THIS LOCATION!…read more My family that resides in Clt started coming to this location because of the proximity to their house, but after this past visit on June 20th, none of us will ever be back again after the absolute awful service! And, as anyone knows, you can have amazing food, but if the people and service are terrible that can ruin any dining experience! We were sat in an almost empty restaurant just after 8pm; the waiter came to take our order and was very engaging initially. We were a party of 6, so we were going to order 4 diff apps prior to the mixed grill which is what we always get. We ordered the hummus, falafel (2 orders because only 6 come per order), baba ganoush, and beef sambousa. We were told they were "out" of the baba ganoush & sambousas cuz they would have to make them and it would take like an hr...this sounded odd cuz umm, don't you make all your food to order?? This immediately put both my stepmom (who is Moroccan) and myself off and we were actually going to leave, but we were introducing my brother's GF to this ethnic food style & him + my dad convinced us to stay, so we just added salad and lentil bean soups). We ordered drinks (the GF & I were the only ones that didn't order sodas; she ordered a pot of Karak tea for her + I to share & I ordered a sparkling water). After 10mins no drinks in sight we were like "ummm?" then at just over 15mins they brought us the apps but no drinks?!? The drinks came separately a few mins later...all except the tea. For $3 on the menu I expected a bottled sparkling water, instead I got flat water from the soda fountain. I told the waiter this and he said he'd try again and if it wasn't "sparkling" then what did I want to drink instead...I said just a filtered water w/lemon. We were missing an order of falafel (were told they only had the one order and would have to wait for the 2nd, so we just canceled it; again whyTF did they not have anything on the menu at 8pm on a Sat!?) and they only brought one basket of pita for the hummus; we asked for a 2nd basket. The lentil soup (my stepmom makes better at home) + salads were mid at best. 20mins later they bring the main course, but we still had not gotten the pot of tea we ordered nor did the guy ever come back w/my "sparkling" or plain water...we'd had enough of this horrible service & I went in search of someone (the place again was empty & I could not find our waiter or anyone anywhere). Finally I see this lady who had attitude (I have a sneaking suspicion she pretended not to understand english when convenient) when I asked WTAF was up w/my water & the tea! Again, another 10mins w/neither showing up at the table...we were also still waiting for the 2nd basket of pita, but it was moot as we'd already begun to eat the main dish...my stepmom went to the lady & spoke to her in arabic and was like "where is her water and where is her tea!?" the lady said she was sorry she didn't know we didn't get them (BS btw) that's when my stepmom asked to speak to the mgr. We also wanted to order Knfa for dessert, so my stepmom told the lady we were ordering 3 now since they were taking forever to get anything to us, and if they didn't bring them when we were done eating, we would not be paying for them. THAT part seemed to get through at least! Halfway (almost an hr at this point) through the meal they finally come w/my water and the pot of Karak tea. At this point we hadn't seen the male waiter who took our order initially; he shows up & is acting huffy (the audacity tbh!) & tries telling me he never said he'd bring a 2nd sparkling or reg water & when both me and my stepmom (cuz she was sitting next to me & heard the exchange called him out) he got all defensive & said "well I guess I misunderstood" so then we are like "why an hr for the tea?" "Wellll, that's how long it takes to make!" I called BS & told him if that was the case he should have told us that expectation when we initially ordered! He then goes "Well I had to go to storage to find it cuz we were out!" K, howTF is that OUR problem!? Just tell us that so we know what to expect!? No apology was made and we were not credited for the tea nor the $3 sparkling water which I never received. Also, received the Knfa (shockingly, right after the meal) but it was served w/o the pistachios it was supposed to come with. When asked for them, we were told they were "out"...because of course they were! Absolutely HORRIBLE staff and service here; the food was good tho, but when u have an experience like that it still leaves a bad taste!

If ordering takeout, that's a dish that you won't be able to check until you're home and cut it open or pop the whole thing in your mouth. And that means if you're a vegetarian, you will be really disappointed because you will either not be able to eat your meal, or you will have to drive out again, meaning that you won't be able to eat with your friends and family by the time you get back. (And if they wait for you, their dishes will be cold.) My friend enjoyed their Aloo Ghobi (potato and cauliflower curry dish). The restaurant smelled fragrant with Indian spices and the staff is immediately inviting and nice! The restaurant appears clean and well-maintained. For those reasons, I'm giving them 2 Stars.
