Using reviews on Yelp, and researching the company website, our group (30+) was excited to take part in this activity with Chef T. This space is portrayed as a kitchen in a shared dynamic space. The reality is it is a makeshift kitchen located in the corner of an active sports gym. To get to the kitchen, we had to walk through multiple active volleyball courts, and our entire activity was conducted 6 ft from a children's gymnastics class. What I liked about this class over others like sur la table: - dietary needs: chef teena's super flexible, she made dietary accommodations for myself on the fly since we booked super last min - space: Excellent leverage of a quiet and modern appliance store - great equipment - portions + ingredients: it's actually a full meal, unlike some classes that just make nibbles. - easy to make!!! I went to a sur la table class once for croissants, and swore I'd never make them again - they also didn't taste good. I'm glad we learned how to make dishes we could actually re-enact at home! This is probably Long pending on my end but I wanted to do it right. This was the first time we took a different exercise for team building. We were searching for options until I spoke to Teena. It was an easy pick after talking to her. The location was convenient with ample parking and equipment were available of all the activities we were going to perform. Teena and team were good in accommodating on a very short notice too. We did a lot of cooking and had a lot fun that day. The way chefs and staff were engaging with us was amazing. We felt the warmth in welcome and every activity we did there. It was a perfect match for an activity like team building because it did require us to get into smaller groups and deliver on the bigger project. It was no different than what we do at work but in a lot more fun way. Teena & Team took a effort to explain every detail about the process. It went to a level where everything turned out just perfect. We had starters followed by Main Course served on the table and special desert which was indeed a surprise. Highly recommend if you're looking for a great teambuilding event! We were 18 colleagues and went with the Indian menu (Italian and Mediterranean were also offered as options, along with a less expensive appetizers only menu). We chopped, cooked, and fried at various stations, making veggie pakora, aloo gobi, and chicken curry. Everything was delicious and Teena and her staff were so kind and took care of everything (including taking over the cooking when people started socializing instead :). It's BYOB wine and beer and Teena had set up ice buckets for the white wine and beer we brought, and a wine rack for our reds, alongside small wine glasses and water/water cups that she provided. Teena brought us delicious mango ice cream desserts that were a huge hit as well. She was easy to work with (super responsive via email) and the space was huge. We had an amazing time bringing together our team for lunch today! We chose one of the super appetizing Indian menus that Chef Teena has to offer because we had a vegan in our group and some others with shellfish allergies, kosher, etc. so it was super accommodating menu for all. Everyone had a job to do and we were encouraged to dive right in, which I appreciated because it kept the momentum and excitement up. We ended our meal with a fabulous dessert prepared by Chef Teena's team; she even went out of her way to make one of my favorite Indian desserts even though she had something else planned. I was looking for a team event for 30 to 40 people, and while every place I called could accommodate us, I was looking for something that was "more than" a cooking class. There are many professional businesses in the south bay that can deliver on the cooking part, but Teena with Explore Culinary Arts went above and beyond! We worked together on the menu, dietary accommodations for some of our team members, the timing, games, Instacart ordering and more. She even picked up sparkling water for us last minute and her and her team stepped in when our Instacart beverage order arrived earlier than anticipated. Chef Teena and her staff did a great job hosting our team of 14 for a teambuilding cooking class this week. The vegetable pakora with mint chutney was amazing -- a huge hit with everyone. I'm still dreaming of it. Teena was very organized and prompt in her communications throughout the process. She had a menu of options for us to choose from, making organization a breeze. Because our team vote was tied for menu, Chef Teena customized a mixed menu for us, ensuring everyone got to learn something new! Our team loved Teena and her team. Our group's experience with cooking was low to intermediate, and they were super patient in walking us through the basics. However, the kitchen equipment in the classroom is top of the line, and I have no doubts that they could craft a more challenging class for a highly experienced group. Teena and her staff were accommodating of our teammates' dietary restrictions. I was touched that Teena took the time to call out what dairy each dish included and even provide special toothpicks to mark which chicken rollatini would not contain feta cheese. It took the burden off of me (the organizer) and the teammates with allergies, leaving us free to enjoy learning and tasting. I'll include the quote for our class in case it's helpful to others who have a budget to meet: $125/person, not including gratuity. Everyone had nothing but positive things to say about our Holiday Event held at Explore Culinary Arts. Chef Teena and her staff were attentive and engaged throughout the event. Story: I was tasked with locking in our Holiday Event for 2018. My manager happened to find Explore Culinary Arts on LinkedIn through one of her feeds, and she passed along the info to me. I did some research, and though there are other competitors in the Bay Area, Explore Culinary Arts just had a professional look and feel at initial glance. I sent out an initial feeler email to them, and Chef Teena responded nearly instantly with all of the logistical information, including process for next steps. In the email, it included a list of menu options, 11 at the time of this review. It was a lot of information to parse at once, BUT, it provided all the information that I needed to make a decision. After a few emails back and forth, again, Chef Teena was highly responsive, I was able to lock down a date for my team. Chef Teena provided a recommendation regarding menu choice, but my team wanted to do something different, and she fully accommodated. With Chef Teena's help, we were able to create a menu that was multi-ethnic and diverse. Go with the Pakora as recommended by Chef Teena for the appetizer; they are a home recipe and are DELICIOUS!!! Day of the event. My team has a headcount of 14. I thought it was the right amount of people for the space provided. Chef Teena has stated the space can accommodate a greater headcount, but in my experience, we were nearly elbow-to-elbow preparing the dishes (nice and intimate). It would be hard to fit more than 14 people in the dining space after as well, at least if everyone would like to sit together. Cooking together as a team was an absolute blast! Speed is dictated by the cooking ability of the people you are with. Chef Teena and her team gently guides the cooking process along. All the food prep was taken care of by her staff prior to the event. Cooking time ranges from 1-2hrs depending on menu choice, and about 30mins for dining after. Chef Teena will provide Coffee, Tea, and water upon request. It was a non-alcoholic event for us this time, but you can BYOB and other drinks as needed. Corking service is provided. Chef Teena and staff take photos throughout the event, and provides them upon request. Overall, I was highly satisfied with the event. Everything was easy to follow, even for folks who aren't experts in the kitchen. Location is easy to find and they have a parking lot. The space is beautiful and clean. The kitchen is huge so you won't feel cramped. When we were ready to eat, we sat a long rectangular table and they plated and served the meal. It was such a pleasure to work with Chef Teena. Last week my team of 40 had a chocolate cooking class at Explore Culinary Arts and everything was above and beyond my expectations. First, Chef Teena was my main POC and she was incredibly responsive via email, which made setting up the event and adjusting for things like dietary needs and last minute additions super easy. For this class, they usually do a 3 - course meal, but all my team really wanted was chocolate. Teena and her chefs were happy to accommodate. We chose to make chocolate eclairs, chocolate mousse dessert, and chocolate truffles. Upon arrival, the chefs had already prepared some of the ingredients, so the team helped more with mixing, piping, and assembling. We had a super fun team gathering here. The venue is lovely, and it was awesome to cook in a kitchen that was equipped to the nines. This is the type of experience that will make you long for your own chef's kitchen and inspire you to cook more at home. Chef Teena and her staff were the most gracious hosts. All ingredients were of pre-cleaned and of premium quality and were already laid out in an organized manner upon our arrival, so all we really had to do was prep (chop, cut, grate) and focus on the cooking itself. We all picked up some cool recipes, cooking tips and techniques, and I was grateful that Chef Teena thoughtfully orchestrated the activities to ensure we also had plenty of time to catch up with each other and bond over the experience. Chef Teena is extremely respectful of dietary restrictions and had a separate dish whipped up for me since I was the only pescetarian on the team. I will tell you that the Chef's pakora is flat out UH-mazing.
