Life Changing Experience! I really don't have enough words to explain thankful I am for Dr. Tori McRae. I am 77 years old and have had major dental problems since childhood from growing up in Mexico. From a young age, ALL my teeth became heavily stained and significantly unaligned. I have seen many dentist in my life with hopes of some improvement. As I have aged, my concern has also included the declining health of my teeth. I was experiencing great discomfort and had fear I would be loosing my teeth. Then I met Dr. Tori McRae. She confirmed what I always knew, my teeth were in very poor condition, not only their appearance but their health. It was clear my teeth were deteriorating. Rather than turn me away, Dr. McRae immediately accepted the challenge and created Several treatment options for me to consider, explaining each one in great detail. Ultimately, i entrusted Dr. McRae. Over multiple appointments, Dr. McRae worked on my teeth repairing the damage and improving their look. I was nervous and unsure of what results to expect. The results are literally a life changing. She not only repaired the damage, she made my teeth beautiful! The experience has been surreal and exceeding all expectations. I've been going to this dentist since 2019! I had a break because my other job didn't take their insurance. I'm so glad I get to go back. The front/admin staff is so friendly and I really like any staff I've encountered. I've had one dental hygienist for a while but after she left, although I was a little worried, and we built a rapport the new one was good too. Every dentist (Curt, Tori and Matt) and I've had is so nice and personable. They call to check in on you (not the admin staff) if you've had work done-- including "just" cavities. This drive is worth it for me because I love the leadership that Curt McRae has put into his office. I've referred my parents and they are so good to them! Highly recommend this place. read more

Fantastic dentist! I have been to many different dentists in my life and Dr McRae has hands down been the best. He's done a front tooth dental implant for me that turned out beautiful as well as some fillings and crowns. He is communicative, kind, and you can really tell he cares so much about his patients. I have a mouthful of problems, so I have been seeking good dental care my entire life. The results have been ok to catastrophic. Dr. Mcrae is the most competent and caring dentist I have ever seen. My mouth is complicated and he has helped me maintain and even improve my situation. I notice that he keeps himself abreast of the latest developments in dental technology. I was not satisfied with my previous dentist and had heard good things about Dr. Tori McRae from friends, so I decided to switch. That was probably the best decision of my life. Dr. Tori is extremely personable, caring, and is totally devoted to you. She has superb credentials and served as a dentist with the US Navy for three years before joining her father's practice in Oceanside. My first visit was amazing! The office staff was just outstanding. They are all totally caring. I have never had that happen like that before. After a complete exam, I got the news that I needed two crowns replaced. The first one was totally easy and went without a hitch. The second, however, was a bitch! The old crown was difficult to remove and there was a huge amount of decay underneath. Dr. Tori had to do a lot of grinding to get it clean. She handled it like a pro! There was only minor discomfort after the procedure. Due the the extreme decay, she referred me to an excellent Endodontist who had to do a root canal on the tooth. I then returned for the new crown which went on with no problems at all. Perfect fit. I cannot tell you how happy I am with Dr. Tori. She is the BEST! I give her 10 stars. read more

wow how the times have changed. I was first to review BITD (back in the day) he was my guy, but when his assistant quit in 2015 or so it started the slow slide to the 2 stars we are at now...I had an implant done in 2017-2018 and they left me unattended in the waiting room still under sedation. I got up and started to walk home. The receptionist found me about 1/2 mile away on Rancho del Oro sleeping in the grass median on the side of the road...this really happened. My Mom or my Girlfriend were supposed to pick me up. The office called them and wanted to know If they knew where I was....seriously. That was my last visit to Dr. Curtis McRae. I have major anxiety when it comes to going to the dentist. I have had to have much work on my teeth. When I got to Dr. McRae's office I was greeted by the nicest receptionist and office manager. I had explained my concerns and they had me take many x'rays to figure out the plan of attack for my teeth. Dr. McRae is very compassionate and completely understanding and patient. Took the time to really listen to me. I felt so comfortable there. I had to have some pretty big dental work to which I had to be sedated, and given nitrous. And he and his staff were just great! Don't know of many dentists that would give you their personal cell phone number in case you had any questions or concerns. After my procedure, he called me later that day to see how I was feeling and if I was having a lot of discomfort. One other thing I would like to point out is the office manager knew a lot about my dental insurance, and what my out of pocket costs would be. Which I appreciated so much. Long and short of it is you will be treated with kindness at this office. And I would refer everyone to him. read more

I experienced an utterly disappointing and emotionally draining Invisalign treatment result from Dr. McRae. After paying a hefty deposit to Dr.McRae, he completely forgot to order the Invisalign trays. Weeks went by in fact, so I called his office and was informed he forget to pay for the Invisalign trays over the phone. When they finally arrived, attachments were glued onto various teeth of mine in order to aide in treatment. By the end of the first day, some of the glued attachments had popped off, and by weeks end, at least half had fallen off. While it can happen that an attachment or two can fall off, I continued to go into Dr. McRae's office for weeks getting those that fell off re-glued. Upon completing my first Invisalign Treatment of 19 trays, I discussed with Dr. McRae my concern and discomfort of one upper front tooth now pressing up against another front upper tooth. He told me he didn't see it, and never addressed my concern for how it felt. He went ahead and programmed another treatment set of aligner trays, even saying it wouldn't be too many. When the 2nd set of trays arrived. I was shocked to see that it was another set of 19. Upon completing the 3rd tray, I began noticing my upper front teeth expanding outward, and it was a little difficult to close my mouth naturally. I mentioned this to Dr. McRae, who said just keep going. By the time I reached Tray #8, I contacted Dr.McRae and said I couldn't go forward, and that I now had to forcibly close my mouth due to my expanded upper front teeth. My upper front teeth were now biting down on my lower lip, causing pain & discomfort. I also noticed my lower front teeth had risen upward, & slightly back. When I saw Dr. McRae at our scheduled appointment, I pointed out to him my lower teeth had risen upward. I said to Dr. McRae my plaster cast & original photos will show him my lower teeth were not like this when I first came into his office. He didn't say a word, nor make any attempt to get my plaster cast or Invisalign photos. My teeth were now misaligned, and my back teeth, both top & bottom, were no longer touching. During the course of treatment with Dr.McRae, I had called Align Technology Customer Care Support ( Align Technology makes Invisalign trays ) many times and told them what was transpiring with my treatment with Dr. McRae. They told me to tell him they would be happy to speak with him and offer assistance. When I told Dr. McRae this, he just looked at me, and to the best of my knowledge, never made an attempt to reach out Align Technology for help. My file with Align Technology has full backup of all the calls I made to them. As well, they have all my original beginning photos of my teeth. The very last straw came when Dr. McRae prepared a treatment plan for the last set of Invisalign trays to try and bring my upper front teeth inward again so they weren't biting down on my lower lip. Unfortunately, my upper front teeth ended up dropping down, exposing my upper gums and giving me now a gummy smile. It also produced a lisp when speaking words starting with a P,F or S. I called Align Technology and told them what happened, & asked them to call Dr. McRae, which they did. I also told Dr. McRae he had to reach out to a specialist, specifically an Orthodontist. for help. After a few weeks of gathering information from colleagues, Dr. McRae told me that while he had a plan to try and raise up my front teeth to their original position, he thought it would be best if he transferred me to an Orthodontist. I was fine to transfer, but I told him I wasn't going to pay someone else to fix the problems I now had with my teeth. I paid Dr. McRae in full, and he never completed his work, including the added tooth filing refinements and added porcelain fill in he promised to do. My teeth and their overall alignment were now in worse shape. I did transfer to an Orthodontist who has had to start all over again from the beginning, and I have to pay all over again. My treatment is ongoing. I sent a follow up email to Dr. McRae and told him I would appreciate it if he would pay for the cost of the Orthodontist. He responded with a letter that said he would only pay me $1,000., with a stipulation that I sign a Release of Liability. I have had no choice but to file a claim with Dr. McRae's Malpractice Insurance, as well as an additional pending small claims suit against Dr. McRae in the County of San Diego. read more

Today I had an appointment with Dr. Small. This was my first time with him and I have to say I was 100% satisfied with his work. I went in to get my crown replaced. It had been 17 years since I first had my crown done so it was time to replace it. I was nervous and didn't quite know what to expect. Dr. Small along with his assistant Amiee really made the procedure pleasant. They explained the entire thing step by step. Checking on me constantly to make sure I wasn't in pain or discomfort. Overall this place is clean, the staff is friendly and most importantly they treat you like family not just another patient. I will recommend this place to friends and family. read more

My chiropractor (Dr. Michael Kastrup who also has a wonderful practice in Oceanside) suggested that I take a look at Dr Curtis McRae's practice in Oceanside. Here it is...my children don't mind going to see their dentist anymore! As a matter of fact, neither do I. Super friendly staff from the front desk, to the dental hygienists, to Dr. McRae himself. Everyone is super friendly, professional, and maintain a welcoming office, while paying very close attention to the excellent dental care for my children and I.
