Chase and his helper came to install new PEX plumbing throughout my mobile home. This was after Chase had gone over all of my concerns, given me options, and explained the areas that were causing my low pressure. The drain in my kitchen was clogged last night which caused waste water overflowing the sink in my kitchen from the bottom up. Thinking that the drain in my unit is clogged somewhere, I opened up the pipe underneath the kitchen to try to unclog it myself but to my surprise I couldn't find any clog. In addition, the water was popping out from the drain even though the water in my unit was not running. As I realized that this is an small-scale clogging issue, I decided to call Curtis Plumbing for their professional service. Frankie was the plumber assigned to handle my case. When we met at the door, we exchanged our greetings properly and he showed his respect by asking about my well-being and if it was appropriate for him to step into my house with his boots on, which left me a good impression. By the time he saw the waste water in my kitchen sink, he immediately figured out what the issue was. It turned out that the main pipe outside of my unit was clogged which he was able to unclog with his large drain snake. While he was working on the issue, like opening up the main pipe, unclogging it..etc he explained how the pipes are structured, what are the common causes for clogging a drain and he shared the stories of his previous clients with me to provide more information on drain clogging in general. At the end, he verified the work is done by running a camera through the pipe and I could see there was no clog at least 60 meters down the pipe. The whole end-to-end experience was very educational and broadened my knowledge on how drainage system is structured. I very much appreciate his politeness and respect during the short time span he stayed and was impressed by his professional knowledge and experiences he had with plumbing works. From beginning to end my experience with Curtis Plumbing was 5 Stars. I explained what my issue was and was given a quote and we told that the price could be more depending on what the technician saw, but that NO work would take place until I was given all the details about what needed to be done. When Chase arrived he was very friendly and I felt bad for him because the rain really started coming down. I had a storm drain that was blocked in three different sections that ran from the side of our home all the way across our front yard and driveway. Chase and I walked to each area and after inspecting it he gave me a quote that I felt for the work that needed to be done was more than fair. After about 1hr or so I walked outside to see several 8-12ft long roots all getting pulled out of storm drain. When Chase was done he gave me great maintenance tips and suggestions. RUTHLESS SCAMMERS - DO NOT GET SUCKED IN Curtis Plumbing tried to charge my mother-in-law nearly $1,400 to replace her garbage disposal and a strainer basket. The job ended up costing $315.00 (parts & labor) by a reputable plumber. Randy claimed that a pipe was leaking under the house which caused flooding and a serious mold problem. He called California Restoration (a company known for scamming people for thousands of dollars) and stayed at her house for four hours to support the claim and ensure that she agreed to the scam of having her house dried and mold removed. Randy had her scared for her health and damage to her home. After we cancelled both appointments, Curtis Plumbing tried to charge $350 for the time that Randy was at the house harassing and scaring her while waiting for his partners in crime, California Restoration, to arrive and then give a false report, while refusing to give an estimate until the work was done. We found out later that this is how they work their scam. Randy, the plumber, refused to go under the house to work until the restoration was complete which would be the next morning when he was scheduled to come. My brother-in-law went to her house to check out the problem and discovered that the nut on the water supply line to the water pipe had been loosened to the point that it could be tightened with just his fingers. Our reputable plumber went under the house and said that there is no leak in the pipe (he even checked the water meter), no pools of water, and no mold. Please don't be fooled by their nice attitudes - that's how they keep their scams going. They know how to make you feel like they're on your side as they con you. I tried to dispute my bill, by canceling my check. After submitting a complaint to the BBB (which the company refused to answer). I contacted the company many times. I was given the run around the manager never returned my calls. Finally, when I got through he explained that he was personally outraged by my review and said that had I contacted them first they might have understood (not for my lack of trying), but because I was truthful here on yelp, the manager was not understanding and would not settle with me. They sent my bill to collections. So I paid my bill so it would not affect our credit. I did get a second opinion on their job which proved that their analysis was a completely wrong diagnosis and I consider taking them to claims court. I DON'T RECOMMEND CURTIS PLUMBING. DO YOUR RESEARCH!! My sink garbage disposal was leaking and called the company out of the list given from HOA. I should've done my research before calling any plumber for the job. I paid about $545 for the garbage disposal and $120 for replacing the toilet drain stopper rubber. He did the job and left with $675.80 check. Unfortunately I found out later that 'insinkerator evolution pro750' garbage disposal is no more than $250 at the market and the toilet rubber is about $10. It was too late to do research or regrets any more, but I won't hire this company again unless the disposal has a problem within the warranty. read more

They've resolved issues as small as clogs and as large as domestic water booster pump rebuilds for my 40,000 sqft, 6 floor property. I really enjoy working with everyone here. They told us they would only charge $45 to come see what the problem is. After the plumber showed up he said it would cost us an additional $120 because he had to snake the toilet. He never told us this before he actually did it. I found another plumbing company who would come for free to see what the issue is. I feel dumb for not looking into other companies and just going with this company just because Kohler referred me to them. I just called another company who will be at my house in an hour free of charge. I don't like hidden fees. Also everything they quoted us was overpriced and expensive. Not cool. He told us we would have to spend over $1500 (at least) to buy a new toilet and fix our issue. I'm looking at toilet prices now and the good ones range at $300. Very bad experience for me. read more

I returned home from a week away at Thanksgiving, weary from my trip and looking forward to a long hot shower. Imagine my surprise when I found there wasn't any! I went outside to open the cabinet in which my hot water heater sat and found it was rusty and leaking and the date on it was 2001. I called my daughter for a recommendation as I knew she was really happy with her plumber, she said "Mom, they rock!" I called Nadine at Curtis and was told they could come out that same day, BUT, I had to work all that day and the next. We made an appointment for the following day. Franky was amazing! He diagnosed that the water heater was just way too old and leaking beyond repair. He recommended a product, and went to his plumbing supply place and picked it up, along with new hoses, a pan in which to put it and a regulation valve for my water supply from the city, as my old one was worn out. I asked him to check out the high pitched whistle from my toilet which was caused by the incorrect high pressure in my house, so he then fixed that and rebuilt the old broken parts of my toilet, with new parts, so I did not have to replace the toilet. To top it all off, he did a great tutorial, better than any professor, about how my entire water system works, how to turn which valves off in an earthquake and best of all, I know this company will be there for me for a long time. They were started as, and still are, a family business and has been in existence since 1940. If I could give 10 stars I would. read more

We had a friend's 60th birthday party tonight. At 4:30pm I walked into our furnace room -- where our hot water heater is also located -- and found a hot water leak pouring onto the floor. Called Curtis who I found in the actual Yellow Pages. Their plumber, Matt, was at our home within the hour, diagnosed the issue as a pinhole in the hotwater line, gave us a far estimate and had it repaired and our water back on in time to shower and make our friends birthday party. BUYER BEWARE! My wife called to get our drain unclogged, which should have cost $135 tops. But Curtis Plumbing trains their plumbers to try and get the most out of every situation by telling customers that their systems are broken and not fixable and must be fully replaced. Instead of just snaking the drain and doing what we asked of him, he called my wife and told her that we needed an entirely new disposal and ALL NEW PIPING in our kitchen immediately...as if our whole kitchen would crumble if we didn't pay for this fix right away. My wife believed the guy...you can't blame her...he's a "professional"... So I got hit with a bill for $770. I had another plumber come by to check my pipes to give me a true opinion. He told me that my pipes were fine and that many of his customers were former Curtis customers who experienced the same kind of pressure. Here's the worst part...I called the owner and confronted him about this. He admitted that he trains his plumbers to advise customers on any and every situation that "might lead to future problems". I asked him for a discount on the bill considering how I felt about the situation...and his response was "No because you are obviously never going to use us again for future plumbing needs". Exactly what happened to me!!! I had a broken flapper on a toilet. Last time that happened on one of our toilets, it cost me about $100 for parts and labor. My regular plumber was very busy and couldn't come out for a few days. The reason they are so busy is because they are good and honest. So I called Curtis. The guy came out and said I needed my whole toilet rebuilt. He charged me over $300. When I got home I called him and said the only thing wrong was a broken flapper. He told me that their policy is that even if they only see one thing wrong with a toilet, they go ahead and replace the whole thing. They rebuilt everything in the tank, even though there was only a broken flapper!!!! That way if something else goes wrong with it in a few weeks, they aren't responsible! Can you believe that crap? Who came up with that BS! Stay far away. They are slimy!!! read more

Franky is rather aggressive and unkind. Seems to come in with the attitude of "I will do this task (and charge you $250 for each 20 minute task) and see what happens" rather than the attitude of trying to fix a problem. His first response to every issue is the most extreme and expensive solution. Every time he comes over he says we need to totally replace our fixtures or pipes. It's only after we ask that he concedes that a simple ($250 of course) solution may do the job. read more

Called today for service and was told that they would come out for $160 to do a diagnostic test. First off they were the most expensive, but i had them come anyway because everyone else could not come for hours. the technician arrived and did not even do anything!! He had to call someone else and only described what type of unit it was and never touched the waterheater. He never ran a diagnostic test on it at all. He told me it would be $2,800 to fix a water heater that only cost me less than a $1,000! read more

They installed a kitchen faucet a few years ago at my house. The faucet has now worn out with normal wear and tear and I had it replaced yesterday. In looking at the old paperwork, I see that Curtis charged almost 3 times as much for the installation as the plumber did yesterday. read more

I was told there would be a fee for a diagnostic check the representative came out and he literally just looked at the unity took a picture of the serial number and said that there was nothing they could do. That's not worth $160 also when did diagnostics and visual checks become 1 in the same things. read more

They did and excellent job of fixing our problem. We had a broken pipe, which required about 2 hours to fix because they needed to reroute other pipes involved in the repair. I could see that the plumber really knew what he was doing. The bill was high but at least I know that the job was done right. read more

I would have rated them a negative zero if possible. My 87 year old father was totally screwed by these unscrupulous people. First my father had a water heater replaced by these people. The original charge was going to be over $8000. Thankfully our wonderful neighbor came in to the rescue and got the price down to under $2000. They lied and said that the water heater was not from Home Depot as they would NEVER purchase one from them (hmm what about the Home Depot sticker). They claimed it was expensive when in fact Home Depot said it was $350. They said he needed a water softner which after 52 years on the same house he has never needed. Again our friend stepped in and told them to just leave. They did not strap the heater in correctly claiming they had to wait for the right straps to come in. Our friend strapped it in. Next my father who was showing signs of dementia a this time called them again and had they replace a septic pipe. The pipe was at most 25 feet had a few elbows and straps and came out the side of the small room up about 3 feet with a cap. They charged him $2382.16. He signed an authorization form as he had no idea of the cost or work that had to be done. They lied and said the cap was $80 in fact the cap was $28 and the parts totaled $80 as I went to the supply company they used and got a quote with an overestimation of materials. They claimed it took two men all day to do a maybe at best a hour and a half job. Also they moved my mothers furniture from her room so it could be floored and my dad paid them $20 each. They stayed on the clock for this. They also were seem outside on the phones by our neighbors and sister they were on the clock for this too. We called Matt as soon as we found out about this work and he claimed that One, his workers would never move furniture and that he had to see the work done before he could decide on a refund. In the meantime we tried to dispute the charge with the credit card company who would not do it as he had signed the authorization form. Which by the way had the incorrect date on it so whether or not he signed the completion or not is in question or just the authorization. My sister tried to get with Matt on and off for months and once she did and he came out to look at the job he REFUSED to refund anything. We had our contractor give us what he would have charged and he said about $150 plus materials. Not only did they not fix the issue with the septic as the exposed pipe outside was still not fixed. Got faucet for $67.00 and found that I didn't need a new water heater for it. Got it installed for $100.00. I've been a customer of this company for many years. No more! read more
