HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Called for an outside emergency plumbing issue. Our guy was unprofessional by arriving 2 hours late and was very rude and rushed. He quoted what he was going to do and said he was going to add a shut off valve and patch up the ceiling. I hate to say this but very dishonest work. Shut off valve work quoted as additional price towards end of job when lead to believe it was already included the price. Open patch in ceiling saying our newly remodeled home wasn't up to code. Make sure everything is written down on contact. If he says he's going to screw a nail in make sure he writes it down on the contact. Called the very next day and no one ever came out like they promised. Please don't make the same mistake as me, go with someone else who doesn't have billboards on the highway from robbing people. read more

First off, I am a contractor footing the bill for a customer who had a damaged oil line. Curtis Total Service's Rep Matt charged us $1,060 to replace 25' of oil line. Oil Line!!!!!!!!!! Was it made out of copper or gold? Service fee of $89, Inspection Fee of $115(would have thought that was included in the service but it is what it is) and a whopping $856 material cost for 25 feet of oil line. We used Deiter Brothers out of Northampton on a previous project a month ago who had to use a specially coated fuel line because it was actually going underneath the concrete. The line installed by Curtis was not going under the concrete. 25' of Envirotube oil line, flarenuts and adapters, service and tax $429.00 from Deiter Brothers. $1060 for 10 minutes worth of work. Thank you Curtis, what a rip off. I've got a call into Mr. Price, the operations manager and will retract this if I see a different outcome. read more

If there was a negative star I would use that. Look out for the up-sale and up charge on everything. They do not itemize the bill, they give you one price and if it doesn't fix the problem you still owe the money. Their service manager is disrespectful and customer service is appalling. They will back you into a corner on every move they make and charge you a fortune to do so. We were transferred to Curtis Total Service for a drain cleaning. First of all they want $89.00 as a service fee for just showing up. You have to pay that whether they do anything or not. Then they add a $49.00 service agreement to the bill and they wanted $395.00 to snake our drain from the vent pipe on the ROOF of my home for a total cost of $533.00!!! There is a drain cap that he could snake through on the clogged pipe right in our kitchen. They said they didn't want to use that as water would leak out and my reply was to use a wet/dry vacuum as you loosen it and suck the water out with no mess. The service tech even had the gall to ask to use my ladder to access my roof as he did not have one on his service vehicle. The major problem with all of this is liability of him using my ladder and working near the edge of my roof with no safe tie off point as per OSHA regulations. Do yourself a favor and find a small local plumber and not a large outfit like Curtis for your plumbing needs. The one that came out later had the pipe cleared for $75.00. read more

Technician came over very nice man was professional. The problem is that he was at my house for over an hour and could not figure out the problem at first he said it was a coil and would cost me 2700 and then he said compressor was to hot and needed a new system but he was not 100% positive. He then placed a call to supervisor and they figured out I was low on freon and the system needed 2 pounds. Cost of the the repair came out to 485 and I has a 50 coupon which that seemed to up set the technician. I thought that was 2 much money and called the company next day and supervisor said that was going rate and somewhere in my system there is a leak which technician could not find. I had someone come over the next day and check and the freon is still holding, if there is a leak wouldn't it just leak out and show that the level is going down. As of now my AC is working better then it ever did. I am going to check the level every week to see. When I asked the supervisor if there is a leak how come no one can find it, no reply just some crap. There are some that believe that a system 10 years and older some times just need an extra boost but according to Curtis that is not true. I will keep in checking and if the level does not go down I will sent it to BBB. read more

I've not used their services, and I never will. Driving a company truck, you represent your company. And cutting cars off, running them off the road, and intimidating them doesn't endear anyone to your company. I had the misfortune of sharing the road with one of their trucks tonight. He cut me off and very, very nearly hit me. He was right up the rear end of the next car up, and another car pulled off the road from in front of him because of the way he was driving. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! Soft spoken Matt comes to your house acting like he's such a honest person with your best interest in heart. Only to find out too late he lies through his teeth and his father Rich the Operations manager backs him up and lies through this teeth. This past Aug. I had them install a new AC unit. Matt promised my sale of my new AC unit payment payment plan had no payment and no interest for 18 months, only to find out AFTER it was installed that was not the case. Rich insisted that his son Matt told him he made it clear to me I was going to have a payment and that I misunderstood. Yet Matt told me it was all his mistake, he knew I made it clear that I wanted no payments for 18 months , he thought there was no payment due for 18 months. Rich did manage to get me 12 months no payment after arguing back and forth. He could have gotten me 18 months from the company but that would have cost Curtis more money, so they didn't want to take a loss for Matt's mistake. Jan. 11, 2018 I decided to give them another chance to fix my boiler. Matt said because we had the trouble in the past he wants to make me a happy customer and compensate me for all the past troubles he will only charge me for parts and not labor to change an expansion tank and water feeder on my boiler. His compensation cost would be $864.00 I called 3 other companies and they all gave me the prices of $400.00!!! $400.00 less than Matt's compensation price! I called to talk to the owner and the owner will not get on the phone, only Rich (Matt's father). Rich had an attitude that I was being unreasonable when I called to complain that they were trying to rip me off again!! He said only small companies can give a lesser price. So my advice is to stick with a smaller co. and a company where you can talk to an owner. FYI, my brother owns a big HVAC Co. in CT. he said to stay away from this company as well, they're robbing people blind! My brother lives 3 hours from me so I can't depend on him to come and fix my boiler or AC but at least he knows who's honest and who is not! read more

Do not EVER use Curtis Total Service, Inc for any home repair service!!!! We called them when we had our plumbing issues on May 18th. They charge $77.00 just to come out to "look" then wanted to charge us over $400.00 to snake it. We told them no and to leave. Today, May 25th we get a certified letter from an attorney's office billing us for $227.00! I called Curtis Total Service, and was told I need to talk to the attorney. I said we never got a bill and I would bring her the $77, she said we have to deal with the Attorney. Called attorney, had to leave a message. This is horrible service! Terrible Company! read more

Curtis charged us 3 times the price we were given by another company to install a broken well pump (Curtis: over $7000 v. other company $2100). Don't fall for their coupon because their prices are so high it is a joke. We had to replace the well they put in less than 2 years ago and found out the hard way that we paid way too much, that they used cheaper materials, and gave us a very short warranty in comparison. read more

They not only came to my house to turn on what was a GAS CUT OFF switch at the top of the steps but charged my ex husband $250.00 for it even though it was just a switch. I was in the middle of a divorce at that time and did not authorize service nor was i living there. They not only got a judgement against ME who had nothing to do with it but ...they are now having a sheriff's sale and forcing me to sell my son's car and my own. the fees are an additional $1,300.00 on top of the original bill of $250.00. Imagine that? Don't do business with a company who won't even get on the phone to remedy it but instead refers you to their attorney who is desperate for her fees! Curtis Total Service is VERY EXPENSIVE. Make sure you get other estimates before using them! I called them because my water heater was not heating the water and had a small leak. They came after 5:00 (that was good), and said they had a $109 service charge just to come out. I understand that, since it was at night. But, after determining that I needed a new water heater, they said they had one in the truck and that they could install it that night and I would have hot water by the morning (very tempting!) I was expecting maybe $600 or $700. Their estimate: $2200. I told them I thought that was too much. They said that if I could get it for less, with a licensed contractor, blah, blah, then go ahead. So I called Sears. Their price was $664.97. That's a big difference. Just be careful and get other prices before you use this company! read more

DO NOT USE, EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE. See my comments. I signed up for the service contract - 2 visits (1 for AC, 1 for heating system). We have 2 units so had to get 2 contracts. The 2 guys were knowledgeable and touched up a few things. Then came the shocker. They had to replace the capacitor on the outside unit. Their quote after the service contract 10% discount - $ 447. I should have stopped them right there, but would not know if there were other problems or if the system would work. They suggested changing the 40amp wiring contactor also. I said go ahead to avoid any future problems - $310 for that. I then went online and looked at prices for the capacitor and the contactor. Both were online for a total of $120. That was a shocker. I could see charging double and doing the repair for a total of $ 300. Even that would be too high. But charging $726 - that is totally unreasonable. Any honest company would do it for $300 total. I should have told them to hold off so I could get quotes from other companies, but then they would not be able to see if that would fix the problem or if the rest of the system would work. They did do some other touch ups, answered my questions, and gave a slight discount. But $ 726 for 2 basic replacements, on top of the $550 service contract. That totals almost $1,300. And they will return to look at the heating system in a few months. It was quality work, but almost triple what other companies would charge. Another company charged $180 to replace the motor on the outside unit, and Curtis charged me $726 for replacing a capacitor and contactor ? I am very unhappy and left a message on their Account voicemail. I now see the other reviews of their extremely high charges, which seem to be the norm for them. My neighbor recommended them, but I should have done my homework. Get quotes from different companies and don't be talked into spending a ridiculous amount of money for a basic repair. I cannot recommend Curtis. Update: Just received a call back from Curtis. He was rude, demeaning, and kept giving a long-winded speech. I had to keep interrupting in order to say anything. And then he said I was being rude. Summing up his long winded speech - "You were given an estimate before the work was done" as law states. I should have declined the repair, which I could have easily done myself. But if they are there to check out the AC system and one of the parts of the system is not working and they are overcharging me for hundreds of dollars, do I just tell them no and ask them to leave ? How can the rest of the system be tested to find the problems. He bad-mouthed other companies saying they hire ex-cons, morons, and don't know what they are doing. Not a respectful representative of a company. I would not have this guy working the register at McDonalds or do anything that would have him interact with people. He did not want to listen. He kept trying to justify the cost of replacing 2 minor items that took about 15 minutes to replace. He was trying to explain of how costs are estimated, including licenses, trucks, equipment, and on and on. I responded that I and my family had a business. I respect business. But that does not justify ripping people off and unreasonably overcharging. I responded that you would not expect to be charged $600 for a $100 hard drive or pay $2,000 for new tires. No response to that. I was losing my cool because I signed the paper, I paid, it was done. Nothing was going to change that and being spoken down to by a non-stop speech and no concern for the customer was not going to change anything. I said good-bye since it was apparent nothing would happen by both of us going back and forth. This guy went against every rule you hear about how to deal with people and customers. I will not be doing any business with Curtis in the future and will tell Everyone I know and in the immediate area about them. My hot water heater stopped working on Monday morning, filling my basement with water, I called Curtis Total Service. The women I spoke with in the office was wonderful and could get someone out the same, but it went down hill from there. I was at work and needed a call when they were on their way to my house. They called me when they were sitting in front of my house. It was a 20 minute drive for me to get home. Once I got home, two of the techs came in took less then 5 minutes to look at my hot water heater and then quoted me $1,900.00. REALLY to replace a hot water heater. When I informed them that I would not be needing their service, one of the men got short with me said to the other tech, "well lets just go". But they had no problem taking my $69.00, for 5 minute of service. I do NOT recommend using Curtis Total Service - I believe they tried to take advantage of my situation. read more

I have used Curtis Total Service for my plumbing, electrical and heating needs with good results for the last four years. When I decided to remodel part of my master bathroom, I again went with Curtis. Because of the size of my bathroom and because the tub and shower sat side-by-side, they were both small, especially the tub. I wanted to replace them with a large spa-type shower and a linen closet. I was concerned about three things for this job. First, I was remodeling just half of the bathroom so it was important that the new part didn't make the age of the old part obvious. Second, I wanted a lot of water options in the shower but I'm on a well so water pressure was a concern with the existing plumbing and hot water heater. Lastly, I wanted to be able to know, within reason, what to expect during the process. I know there are things you can't know until you open a wall or remove a tub, but having done several remodeling jobs before, there's usually at least one "you couldn't have told me this before?" moment. The crew at Curtis and I had several conversations before the job started to make sure we were on the same page. I was told every morning what they were going to do, and if I got home before they left, what they had done that day. If there was a question, or if one of the crew thought I said one thing and another thought I said something else, they would contact me by text or call and we'd get it right. If I had a question, they always took my calls. Rich spent a lot of time talking to vendors to come up with a system and fixtures that would give me hot water at good pressure from the shower head and body jets without changing out my water heater or adding equipment to boost the water pressure. John came up with a great window option to replace the one that had to go. By the time the painting was done everything blended into a lovely bathroom that I doubt anyone could tell has an old and a new side. Most importantly, there were no surprises along the way. No "what?" moment. I've experienced some really bad remodeling jobs that ended up costing me twice as much when they fell apart after a couple of years. My experience with Curtis has been great - we communicated well with each other, they gave me ideas I hadn't thought of, and they always found ways to deliver what I wanted. I feel that everyone from the office staff to the work crew wanted me to be happy with the work and I am - structurally and aesthetically. Everyone was knowledgeable and courteous and the construction crew left the work site neat and as clean as possible at the end of each day. I'd definitely use Curtis again for any of my remodeling needs. read more

Called them to look at my AC unit. $77 just to look at it. After their diagnostic, they suggested replacing 3 parts for a total of $1200. After all the parts were in, my condenser didnt work and they said I would need a whole new condenser and heat pump (after $1200 of work). They quoted me $10-14k for the new unit...went with another vendor for $6800. When I called and complained they refunded $350 but I was still out nearly $900. markup for an oil burner motor is 500%! Ridiculous! Charged $549 for a $105 motor. On top of that, the motor installed is seven years old (don't know if new and sat around or rebuilt). Servicemen were very nice and professional, visit fee and diagnosis fee reasonable, but the ripoff of the motor price and not even a new motor is unacceptable. read more

curtis total rip off! they charge $70 to visit and provide estimate, stating they'll credit this towards work completed. problem is their estimate will be 50 times what anyone would possibly imagine, then you're stuck paying $70 to get them off your property. don't call them in the first place. read more

I called Curtis Total Service because my furnace was not running. The contractor added water to system and began to up sell me on service agreements. They billed me for Service Call $77, for Diagnostic $158, and $277 for balancing the system. Adding water and bleeding pipeline. An hour after he left furnace stop running. Having spent the night with no heat I called another company who repair the problem, which was a faulty primary control. System ran like a gem the rest of winter. Having tried to reach Curtis Total Service to complain, with no result, I stop payment on check. After 18 days Curtis TotalService Operational Manager finally contacted me. I told him of problem and told him I would pay him $77 for service charge. He stated that wasn't satisfactory. I sent him check for $77. This resulted in Curtis Total Service turning the collect over to Gross McGinley law firm. The lawyer for this firm had no desired to settle this issue even though she was contacted by the Pa, Attorney General Office. She was more concern with esculating the case to a Jury Trial while requesting $1000 judgment for her legal fee. read more

Called Curtis Total Service for an attic exhaust fan problem. The fan blade seemed to be hitting the housing. The woman who took my service request advised me that there would be a $77 service call charge. I agreed to it and they sent a technician out a few days later. When he entered my home he advised me that there was also a $99 diagnostic fee which I was not advised of on the telephone. I had to agree and sign that I would pay it before he would look at the fan. He went up into the attic and within 20 seconds advised me that I needed a whole new roof fan and after making a call to the office the tech said it would be $1455 to do the job. I told him "no" and paid for the service call and diagnostic fee of $176. I then called a local electrician who went up into the attic, straightened the bracket that holds the motor, made sure it worked correctly and charged me $45 for his time. He said there is nothing wrong with the fan except that the bracket that holds the motor bent from starting up the thousands of times over the past 7 years since the last motor was replaced .Each time the fan starts up there is a little torque applied to the mount and after 25 years it needed to be straightened. Curtis is a rip-off and I will never use them again nor will I recommend them to anyone. read more
