Amazing service!!! Deb is incredible. Best ice cream ever. You must check out as I'm an ice cream snob and seriously is amazing!!

    Lo O.

Wow! What a great place! They have every kind of old fashioned candy you can think of! Talk about a trip down memory lane. I was pointing everything out to my kids with such excitement! We stopped in after visiting Rapid City and Mount Rushmore. We bought homemade chocolate, candy cigarettes, a giant peanut butter cup, cinnamon toothpicks, rock gum, candy sticks, red and black raspberry candy, gold coins and so much more. We also got a waffle cone with delicious peanut butter and chocolate ice cream.

Deb was SO amazing. Kind, efficient, and hardworking, even though it was busy and she was the only one working. She needs a raise!

Ice cream and fudege what could you ask for? Pricing is what you would expect at a tourist trap.

Great assortment of candies, fudge, smoothies, ice cream. Nice staff. And easy parking right in the middle of town.

The fudge is great. Dark chocolate candies had a rich flavor. Staff was friendly and helpful. The shop was nice and cozy.

Rushmore road is handy as you'll drive right by it if you're going to Mt. Rushmore. 2. If you're a total chocolate addict and MUST have some chocolate, it's quick and easy here. 3. The staff are very nice. 4. They do have very, very cute gifts. But, as a chocolate snob, I don't taste the best ingredients in their truffles. It tastes like there's some sort of emulsifier/hardner in their chocolate, paraffin? Artificial ingredients or stabilizers, preservatives? Not the best brand of chocolate to begin with, slightly too hard for the true consistency a Truffle should be. If you're wanting a quick treat, or a cute gift for someone, this is the place to go to, but if you're a serious chocolate lover or Truffle snob, it's worth the 45 minute drive north to Deadwood and go to Chubby Chipmonk instead. They might have fabulous caramels, or brittle, or other goodies, but not the Truffles.

The front cooler mostly featured dessert offerings (cakes, cupcakes, cookies). But on the wall in the back was a spot featuring just what I was looking for: breakfast sweets. I got a mix of cinnamon rolls, muffins, and croissants. It's a small shop so the options weren't extensive but I was able to get just what I needed. When I got back to the house with the goodies they were devoured by old and young alike. Swing by Pistachio Pie for all of your baked good needs.

My husband and I spent oodles of dollars there over the years. I have since moved from the area, and on a recent visit "back home," I was dismayed at the changes to what used to be a charming little store, and a real gem in the Black Hills. The business was recently sold, and the new owners have turned it into a pitiful version of the charming business it was for years and years. They got rid of all of the vintage antiques. They now devote almost half of the store to fabric and quilting supplies. It's ironic that they carry such a vast amount of kitschy made-in-China crap, especially when so much of it touts ultra-right conservative, "patriotic" sentiment. I left the store feeling disappointed, offended, and just downright sad. Because I still have family in the Black Hills, I will come back often for visits, but will never spend another dollar in the store I once loved.
