Service was poor. Staff works from home. Communication between orders and dispatch is poor at best. Notes are not on delivery orders. Installers are fair depending in who you get. This used to be a good company. I prefer ABT now. read more

We have always purchased our air conditioners from Custom Appliance. They take out the old and replace it with new air conditioners. We have been doing this for years. Never disappointed. I don't know why all the negative reviews. I have never had any issues with them. And I have been using them for a very long time and all the buildings I have lived in which are Condos all have recommended them. read more

August last year this company installed three new wall A/C units in my boyfriends condo. This summer has been lots of high 80s and low 90s days so of course the living room unit was getting a lot of use. Well this summer we discovered that there was water damage to the outside of the wall/paint and potentially inside the wall (waiting for someone to inspect) because of the new A/C unit. Removing the plastic cover revealed that the padding/foam was soaked, the wood in the wall surrounding the A/C unit was soaked, the paint on the wall was bubbling and there was a clear smell that we could all smell since we had moved the couch to be in front of the A/C unit wall. Looking at this unit it looked like it was also installed too far inside and not enough sticking outside (if that makes sense) compared to the other A/C units they installed. When my boyfriend called this company the guy literally told him "this doesn't sound like our problem, but I'll pass it on." This guy also proceeded to say that it must be a hole in something else that existed prior (I can't remember the term he used, shell?) to this A/C unit being installed to which my boyfriend responded that this problem didn't begin until after the new unit was installed and that prior to this new installation there was no water damage occurring in the wall and if there was then someone would have noticed when the old unit was being switched with the new one. It has literally been less than 12 months since these units were installed. Upon noticing the damage use of that A/C unit ceased and so we have had to use many fans to get cool air from the bedrooms down the hall and into the living room so that the pets wouldn't be uncomfortable in this high summer heat. Customer service was awful and honestly didn't seem like they even care about the customer. I mean who says to the customer "this doesn't sound like our problem." Absolutely ridiculous. read more

Reasonable prices, good and timely service! I ordered a specialized through-the-wall A/C unit from them and scheduled delivery for the next day that was convenient for me. They gave me a three-hour window in which they would come, and they came right at the beginning of it! Then, they installed it in about five minutes, then I wrote them a check and they were off. The A/C is in tiptop shape doing what it does best...you got it, conditioning the air. read more

They arrived almost 20 mins early, which would have been nice if it weren't before 8am (I wasn't dressed). I said "you were supposed to call." they responded "it was too early to call." The European guy refused to remove his shoes after I asked; stating his shoes are clean. They did not even wear foot covers. They failed to turn off the water to the refrigerator and flooded my kitchen. They threw paper towels down and used 2 towels of mine to soak up the water; then told me that I should make sure I clean it up. The old fridge had to be pushed over my carpet to get it out; leaving a trail of sludge across my carpet. I was assured that I could easily clean it up bc it's "just dirty water!" read more

After quoting five different companies providing the AC Wall unit I needed, Custom Appliance came in with the most affordable quote and accepts credit cards (so I got my cc points!). The woman I spoke with made scheduling easy. They called a day ahead of time to let me know the time frame. (as a quick aside, having lived in cities and high rises for over 15 years, delivering anything is a tricky game - timing the elevator, timing with the delivery route person, and your work schedule...) That said, the delivery person arrived two hours early - so I'll dock one star - but, I anticipated this and had granted permission to enter ahead of time. The great news is the delivery gentleman was very respectful and checked in with me/called me three times to say he was entering, to confirm he was able to install my new AC (very quickly!), and again to let me know he had to unplug a humidifier to fit the AC plug. After double checking everything, I can confirm the AC works and installation was clean and successful. I would recommend Custom Appliance and will likely use again in the future. Do not use them - on the surface they may have better prices than ABT but the service is so poor that it will cost you more money to have their poor installation repaired and they also do not care about your business once they have their money. Not worth any saving at all. Go to ABT. They made mistakes with our dryer install and I reported the problem to them repeatedly and they did not fix it. Ultimately we had smoke and hired someone else to fix the problem for $450 and they still do not care - all the way up to the owner. Not one person called. I will be suing them for reimbursement.
