B&T Satellite - Dish Team summit 2015 Phoenix AZ

    B&T Satellite

I spoke with Eddy Abuid this evening to inquire why my Hughes Net satellite service wasn't working…read morein my home. After talking with him realized I was on the wrong plan/data cap plan. So Eddy from Hughes Net increased my GB from 10 to 20GB so I was able to watch my Netflix movies. Well, I have to say he was very helpful. At the time I was speaking with him my service began to work very well. I hope this service continues as is. I would like to give a "Shout Out" to Eddy for fixing my problems. Hopefully this is the end of my internet interruptions. Thank you Eddy Abuid.

I didn't call the 1-800 number…read more I called B&T because we were moving, and I needed my Dish service relocated to our place 15 minutes outside of Redding, and I adhere to the whole "use the local guys" ethos. I was also shopping for internet service--I'd experienced the dismal performance of Frontier DSL and had struck out on fixed-wireless radio internet because I can't get a line-of-sight signal without putting up a 200-ft tower--so I asked B&T about satellite. I was told: "It works, but it won't stream video as fast as you're used to with cable. As long as you're okay with that, it's fine." Bzzzzzztttt. Wrong. The problem with satellite internet is not with streaming video--once your buffer is built and it's streaming away, you don't notice any difference, any more than you notice it when you're watching satellite TV. The problem with satellite internet is this: You click, and then you wait......forever. Often until the mofo times out on you, often repeatedly. If you're using internet for work/research, like I do, you spend most of your time waiting forever to reach the server, and for the server to respond back. It's the latency. It's fucking useless. How fucking useless? We have satellite internet that we're paying for, and we don't use it. With two or three bars out here, our goddamned Verizon cell phones are 10x faster and 100x more reliable, and we use them as internet hotspots, every day, all day. We're paying almost $100 per month for Hughesnet.con (the satellite provider that Dish uses), and we've set all of our devices to forget that modem so that the devices don't default to it. And it's a two-year contract--because any sane person would drop Hughesnet.con after a month once they got a taste of it, unless you happen to live in Bumfuck Nowheretistan and there is absolutely no alternative. Before we gave up on the satellite internet completely, it stopped working altogether for a couple of weeks. I called B&T twice over those two weeks and left messages (because, you know, don't call the 1-800 number). No return call. On the third try the guy who picked up (Doug? I don't know) told me that I had to call Dish's 1-800 number to get help. The guys from Dish came out the third week and said that my internet dish had been improperly installed by B&T with only 2 of the 4 bolts set on one side--like a hinge--and was tilting forward. The 1-800 Dish guy fixed the dish and replaced the system with the one that hits their newest generation satellite--Jupiter 2--and said it would be faster but would still suck, because satellite internet sucks, because of the latency issue. Sorry. He's absolutely right. The Jupiter 2 download speed is hella faster, and so what? That's not the problem. The problem is waiting......waiting.......waiting......for the downloading to start. And often it never does start, so then you get to try again.......and again.......and again. Other people seem to be satisfied with B&T, so I'll concede that my experience may be an outlier, related only to the shit satellite internet service that B&T offers through Dish. But in my defense, I wouldn't be writing this negative review: 1. If B&T had been straight with me about how horrible the Hughesnet.con service is in the first place (like the Dish guys were) 2. If B&T hadn't dodged me when I left voicemails about my satellite internet going to shit just because they don't want to deal with it and (as it turns out) it's not really their problem 3. If B&T hadn't done a crap job of installing the dish so that we lost three weeks of the shit service that I paid for (the three weeks relating to #2) 4. If B&T had gone to bat for me with Dish and helped me get out of my contract because the service isn't performing as represented, instead of washing their hands Here's what might happen next: Doug will attach a comment asking me to get ahold of him. I'm probably going to ignore that, because I'm going to assume that his interest isn't that he suddenly wants to help me. If he wanted to help me, that would have happened already, and I wouldn't be writing this review.* Why two stars instead of one? It's in recognition that B&T has a lot of 5-star reviews and must be doing something right. As for me: Meh, I've experienced better.

Have had wonderful, amazing experiences at this store in the past. Used to be a go-to! But when…read morewill businesses learn that they lose customers- AND money- if they employ people who are just nasty & hateful right from the get go? Like I KNOW, masked up dude wearing a mask in an empty store (?), that NOBODY likes their job, especially in this economy. I get it. But that doesn't mean you need to take your hate out on a customer who simply walks through the door and says in a friendly manner "Hey, how's it going?" (A friendly customer who has always, always, without fail, generously tipped previous employees of this establishment who were, ya know, basically nice & decent?) SO... if you like being glared at with the most hateful expression ever for 10 seconds before being spoken to like you've just killed their grandma with a lifeless, affectless, "How can I help you?" THIS is your place! For all the masochists out there... So, I tried again... "Hi!!!!" and again was hatefully glared at, followed by "How can I help you?" with the MOST disdainful, ugly tone of voice. As me simply opening the door and walking in was the bane of this person's existence. Yeah, bro, that's a no go. At that point I might or might not have said something rather cheeky and rude in my shocked and appalled state. In hindsight, I wish I would've said something along the lines of "You could 'help' me by treating me as a human being, please." But maybe, I should think positively, and give this biz the benefit of the doubt and some props? Maybe they're employing people on the autism spectrum who can't help they don't follow polite societal norms? If that's the case, then the owner really ought to give workshops on how to interact with the general public for these employees. As for me? I also slave at a job I'm not too fond of, but I would NEVER in a million years dream of taking out my disdain on an innocent customer. So I happily drove to another iPhone store in Eureka where I plopped down $150 for what I needed as there was NO WAY in hell I was going to give this business money after being so atrociously treated. No way.

I am disabled, and was told I had to go down to the office to clear it up. I get to the office, the girl at the counter has attitude before she even offered any help. I explained my situation, she gets defensive and tells me that she didn't do it to me. Customer service did. I proceeded to tell her, that it is her job to fix it. She said she's trying her best but she isn't the one that made the mistake. I asked her why she's getting defensive and rude? She was writing something on a piece of paper, she proceeded to rip up the piece of paper, and throw it at me. I am obviously upset, I asked to speak to the manager, and the guy at the counter tells me his manager as at lunch and told me to leave. I was absolutely shocked and flabbergasted at how quickly everything escalated. The thing that really gets me, is that I didn't even need to go down to the office. I was told that customer service wasted my time and gave me the wrong information, when I was asking well why would they do that? That is when the girl started getting defensive and had a meltdown at the counter. The manager came out, like 2 seconds after the guy said that he wasn't in the office. He lied and said that he was at lunch when he was actually sitting there listening to the whole thing! The manager came out with an attitude, and told me that the girl at the counter was giving me the wrong information!! So pretty much if I would have questioned her, I would have been sent out of the office with a bigger headache. It is blatantly obvious that people at this establishment hate their job. It has been reported to the optimum office for review. Shame on optimum for treating their customers like this! If you don't like your job, then find another one and stop taking out your misery on your customers!
