When we decided to paint our kitchen cabinets instead of refacing or replacing, we relied on the Yelp reviews in our decision to use Custom Cabinet Painting, so wanted to add to the excellent reviews already received and upload a few "before and after" shots of our project. From the first contact, Jesse was reliable and responsive (we contacted him through Yelp). We were exploring this project during the pandemic and Jesse provided an estimate by email exchanges of photos of our kitchen. We chose to immediately schedule as soon as the next availability came up. We are so glad that we made the choice to use Custom Cabinet Painting! We believe that Jesse and Miguel are true artists of this niche of the painting world. Since we live in a condo, we were relieved to know that the cabinet doors and drawers would be painted off site at a studio. The fact that this is the specialty of focus of Custom Cabinet Painting has created a truly amazing and swift process. In our case the on-site project took four days. The first day, the cabinet doors and drawers were removed and taken to the studio and the kitchen was meticulously masked for painting the frames. The second day the prep work was completed and one wall (an addition to our kitchen cabinet painting project) was painted and the primer coat was sprayed on the frames. The third day the first coat of paint was sprayed; the fourth day the second coat of paint was sprayed on the cabinets and second coat of paint applied to the wall. The doors were reinstalled the following week. Jesse and Miguel were timely, reliable in every way. They were swift and attentive in their tasks and worked efficiently, a well-oiled machine. The work was exacting and they performed it neatly. In addition, Jesse and Miguel were considerate, courteous and kind. It was a pleasure having them in the house. I was teleworking at home because of the pandemic. My husband and I were truly amazed that this major project did not disrupt our general lives, other than not being able to use the kitchen (although we could use the refrigerator). Our kitchen is connected to the dining room and living room, and the ways that these areas were protected from any effects of the spray were ingenious and effective. At each step of the process, we marveled at the skill and craftsmanship. When the doors and drawers were reinstalled, we marveled that our old, sticky and icky (from 40 years of use) cabinet doors and drawers were sanded perfectly and painted perfectly. Our cabinets truly look as though they are new, as you may see from the photos. Several weeks after the painting was completed, we also had new laminate countertops installed. The cost of our entire kitchen transformation was a pittance compared to what it would have costed for us to reface or resurface our kitchen cabinets. We had our cabinet work done from Jesse 2 years ago and since I am writing this review after all this while, I can speak for the durability of his work. We had oak cabinets in our kitchen, which were functional and in very good shape. I was only unhappy with their visual appearance and after considering many other options, decided to repaint rather than remodel the cabinets. We found Jesse on Yelp and contacted him. He responded quickly and got us scheduled right away. While Jesse's quote wasn't the lowest price, it still was on the lower end of the quotes we received and we were impressed with his responsiveness, so we chose to go with him. I put my HGTV addiction to use by deciding on a dual-tone white/grey color scheme with the upper cabinets painted in white and lower cabinets painted in a grey color that pulled from the marble countertops. Jesse and his crew (of one other person), were in on time each day. They were friendly and understanding of our needs, and did a good job with the painting. The job took as much time and money as Jesse had estimated. He even left the paint samples behind for us to 'touch up' in future if required - it hasn't come to that yet. My only complaint is that the reassembly of some child safety locks on the cabinets wasn't done well; but I didn't check it promptly and hadn't brought that to Jesse's notice, so I'll cut him slack for that one. Overall, I think Custom Cabinet Painting did a smooth, good job. Our 'after' kitchen felt way more contemporary+upscale than before and it has stayed that way for 2 years. We are so happy that we got our cabinets painted by Jesse. We wanted to update the look of our kitchen and bathroom cabinets by getting them painted white and getting the wood grain smoothed out.
