This is the place to get your computer fixed in the East Bay! They provide free diagnostics. Everyone there is really nice, and even let me sneak in a few minutes past closing to pick up my computer. Scott was a very great guy brought my laptop in I thought it could have been a very different issue turns out I just needed a new power charger. I returned to get the laptop about a week later and wanted to research really quick as I felt $45.00 plus tax for a power charger seemed to high for one. I found one on Amazon for $13.00 which was sufficient enough for a cheap little laptop. I called back and the woman i spoke to went from sounding friendly to angered that I stated the same item i was charged for was way less then what I was charged. Granted if installation and all that needed to be done I'd be ok with that but it was just a power charger to be plugged in the wall. Her sour attitude made me not want to return after she stated "so what, you want a refund?" again Scott is great and I understand its a small business but the price was ridiculous for a power charger I found online from not just Amazon but various places as well. read more

My iMac (late 2009 version) stopped working unexpectedly. When I tried restarting it, it displayed the dreaded grey spinning gear & grey progress-bar at the bottom of the screen--then it shut itself off after the progress-bar made it to about 25% full. Every attempt to turn it on/restart it produced the same results. After checking out their Yelp reviews, I brought my near-dead Mac into Custom Computers. I explained that I had massive document, iPhoto, and iTunes files that I just COULDN'T lose -- Johnny listened patiently, told me what the possible problem was (dead hard-drive) and that it was a good chance (no guarantees) to save my data. He said it would take about a day to assess exactly what was going on and see for sure if my files could be retrieved. Custom Computers to the rescue! After Johnny & staff discovered that both my Mac's hard-drive & my back-up hard-drive were dead, they retrieved pretty much all the data on the dead hard-drive, transferred everything to the new iMac I had brought in. They were professional, friendly, and respectfully answered all my questions. If I need to in the future, I would go back to Custom Computers! Would I recommend them? YES! read more

I took My Mac Pro computer into Custom Computers because I was upgrading the solid state storage from a 1Tb drive to a 2 Tb drive. I thought I had striped the screw holding the drive into the computer. Victor should me that the screw was not stripped but it took a special type of screw drive. He offered to put the new drive into my computer. I agreed. Victor took out the old drive and took the new drive but before he put it into the computer, he told me it was not the correct drive. I told him it was and I order it with the correct information. Victor took the time to count the number of connect of the old drive and the new unit. The new drive had one less connection. I tried putting the new drive into the computer, He told me not to because I could damage the computer. He put the old drive back into the computer. He did not charge me a thing for his time!!! Where other store would have charge $70. to $129 for just looking at it and I would have need to leave it with them. Victor was correct it was the wrong drive and I am glad I listen to him!!!!! If it was not for Apple store being closed, I would have not look at going to Custom Computer, but I am glad I did because he saved me time and money!!! Thank you Victor. . . If I need service again I will definitely bring my computer to you. read more
