Tell him what you need or think you need and he will work with you to select the options and/or product that will make it happen for you. My backup camera was wrapped by the brushes of a local carwash and needed replacement. Mine had a plastic housing, he and staff selected a name brand which had a metal case. A much better value than the China brand which was no value in the long run. While I was there, I mentioned my dash cam died in this Texas heat. I scheduled an appointmentppointment for 10:00 the following day and was told it would take 4 hours to do the install on thier highest priced alarm system. I showed up at 9:30 along with two other customers waiting for the sales person to open up. The sales person arrived about 9:45, parked next to me with his radio so loud I couldn't hear my cell phone. He opened the door at 9:55 and I had to remind him of our conversationversation from the day before. I had informed him that I would have to wait for the install. He wrote me up, took my keys and I sat in one of two chairs available for customer waiting. After over an hour my car still set in the front parking lot, so when I asked him about the installer, he replied, "I had to wake him up" and went on waiting on another customer. He offered no explanation for the long wait to get started, so I inquired again and was told the techniciannician was tied up with a left over job from the day before. I should have been informed of this up front. We then got into a discussion on how much longer it would be and he would only say "It will take 4 hours, from when we take it to the back." I was not willing to waste anymore time on his ambiquity and asked for my keys back. The previous sales people I dealt with in the past were much more professional. I will not be returning to Custom Sounds any time in the near future, since my time is so unimportant to Kelly and they lack the courtesy of customer service, by fulling advising a waiting customer on delays without being asked. read more

These guys will, as they did me, quote you a low price and when you get there they will act like they thought you were talking about a different device even when you give them the exact model number of alarm system that they sell on their site and your exact vehicle make and model and year. They try to do the bait and switch on you when you get to the store and you've already arranged to have somebody follow you down there so you don't have to catch a uber home. We walked in to get the wife's stock radio replaced and 2 hours later we walked out perfectly happy! We had an ordeal last month with trying to do the same thing with Best Buy, but after numerous shipment failures, we abandoned hope there. Walking into Custom Sounds, the people were great and informative. Install was fast and we had our radio in less than 2 hours. We had spent more time than that with Best Buy and going back and forth to pickup an order that never arrived but told it had been. We did spend a little bit more, but it was worth it! Still months and months later, and custom sounds has not done anything to correct the DAMAGE they caused to my girlfriends car by CRASHING it and DRILLING A HOLE THROUGH THE DASH after she specifically requested they not do so. Went Tuesday to get an alarm put in my Kia Forte and told me it was going to be for 3 hours and ended up being a whole day after having it a whole day I bring it home and the push start did not work correctly I took it back it took another whole day to figure out what was wrong with it when they first started working on it they didn't know that Kia was a car that had to be specially done due to their standards that they post and have on their wall it is incorrect not all of Customs on Walzem are certified when we went in they had to wait on a guy that knew what he was doing supposedly even he took forever to finish my car before we knew that they had messed up on my car we had our other car put into the shop to have an alarm put in and push start they had that one for 48 hours and still cannot find the problem after talking to management and general management nobody got back to me on the problem so as far as I'm concerned I would not recommend custom to anybody read more

I went here because I thought I was getting good service. I was yesterday and still today give such bad service that I will never return. I had my personal radio with XM Sattlight, backup camera, toggle switch for videos, heads up Navdy unit all to be installed yesterday. I was quoted $275. This was the first problem. The manager Jason and installer both standing in front of me said "we forgot to add the navigation (lie!). Problem 2 "we forgot to add you kit and brace ( lie). Now my bill is over $500.00 I get my car back no toggle switch, unable to access my USB port, my backup camera is point straight up to the sky, non of the boxes that I brought in with my equipment are available they've vanished into thin air along with my extra adapters to the Navdy and the pictures no longer show up on the screen. I turn right around and go back and ask the manager Jason what's going on. After 20 minutes of jacking with my phone and radio he tells me I need to up grade my phone (nope upgrade last night try again). Then Jason tells me my radio needs to be upgraded. (How when you've blocked off the USB port?) we charge $25 for that. (Dude you better take that out of the extra $300 you just charged me). He claims the screws were loose on the camera so they tightened that down (camera is now pointing at the hood of cars instead of the ground). I ask Jason about the other issues and he says "what boxes we did have any boxes and I don't know nothing about any switches!" ( The new box the Navdy came in and the box the radio and other equipment was in. The switch attached to the radio that I told you what it was for that you held in your hand.) He then says I have to talk to his installer who is now on a break after 5:00 pm. I go back today and he has been on lunch break from 11:00 am until now 4:30 pm. Stay away from these people this is by far the worst customer service and price gauging I have ever been apart of or seen. Shame on you Jason and Custom Sound. read more

Other than a couple of questions I thought of afterwards I was very pleased. That's after making appointment then reading reviews. The first time I went to Custom sounds, years ago, they did an outstanding job. So When I moved to San Antonio, they were my preferred shop. I had a head unit installed in my truck...great job. Window tint...great job. A year later I wanted to upgrade my stereo, and specifically told them what I wanted. I bought a $2500 alpine stereo that look great but didn't do what I wanted and was told it would do. I sacrificed simply because it looked great. Then it stopped working, so I took it back and had it replaced with a kenwood, again was assured that I would have the features I wanted. After the install, it didn't do what I wanted, even after paying an extra 800 I ended up with a downgrade. Since it was not what I wanted, I didn't want to spend $2000 on a downgrade, so I got my original stereo put back in. After 2-3 days of back and forth....I ended up where I started. Alpine was defective, kenwood had less features than the one I already had. Waste of time and money. Even still, I had faith in custom sounds and had a stereo installed in my car a few months later. $1000 for the stereo, $1000 for the install and parts....ended up in the same boat....ended up sacrificing too much of what I wanted, and had to pay even more to get the features I thought were standard to that stereo. Wasted another 2 days, ended up with original stereo. A few months later, after a new kenwood came out that had exactly what I wanted, I went again. A different crew did a great install, great service, time etc. I was once again a happy customs sounds customer. The next day I went to get a window tint, and was refused because "nobody wanted to work" on my vehicles. Not even a window tint....a day after I got great service from a different crew. I explained that I had just regained faith in there store, and the manager said "we will do the tint, but there will be no warranty. When u leave here, that's it, even if there's a problem later" I reluctantly agreed at first, and made an appointment to come the next Saturday, but then saw that they were charging $200 to remove old tint, and $400 for new tint...w/o a warranty. I got a great job somewhere else for 1/2 that. The one crew that installed the kenwood 9902 was great, the rest of them...not so much. If I spend $2500 on something, I expect it to work. They promised what they couldn't deliver. Sold a defective product. Didn't know the products they were selling. Then they deny ME service because "of the money THEY lost" . Like I was supposed to spend my money and not be satisfied with what I got. Customs sounds used to be great, now...it all depends on what day you go. Overpriced, poor service, faulty products, liars, and BS artists. I'm glad they refuse me service, since I have no intention on spending another dime there, nor will I recommend them to anyone else ever again.
