Radio and TV went out in my 2020 vehicle with 20k miles on it. After purchasing a new radio to be installed the nightmare began. Not only was the install a complete f up, I had to bring the car back 4x's for various issues. Upon speaking with the regional mgr, I got no where, he continued to act as if they didn't screw up and when I insisted on a refund and for them to pay for a new battery, tow, etc. I was told No as a battery "has wear and tear" and if I wanted my money back for their poor quality install I would have had to put the car back to factory setting???!!! As a result of poor installation my car battery died and this started a pleather of issues with another facility. Custom Sounds would not reimburse me for the tow, battery and need of a new starter. I will be taking them to court, however I DO NOT RECOMMEND this store to ANYONE. Incompetent, useless and ignorant. read more

The place is a joke. I went to go get my windows first time it sat in a garage for four or five months, bubbled. then I took it back to get windows retinted. I asked for 20% only on the front windows. And the rear 5% like it was.... They ended up doing 20% all the way around and they don't clean the windows at all. The gentleman that helped me was great. Instead of just selling me speakers (that I found out I didn't need) took time got in my car, checked the radio, and found out I had the bass to loud. If you go I'm sorry I didn't get his name but he is thin. Dark hair and a gotte (sp?). He is at the one on Lindbergh and Union. Honesty, professional, and knowledgeable, that's what we need more of! Hubby needed some new speakers for an older truck. We stopped in at this Custom Sounds while we were out and about. The service was friendly and educational. The team members take the time to educate on the products, why they are different from each other and the quality each will bring. I especially love the sound room where you can hear the different sets of speakers, amps, subs and head units. This room alone is worth a visit if you are thinking of investing in car audio or just replacing existing audio. They frequent run bonus buy type sales and I've found that the prices during these sales cannot be beat! I've purchased audio in the past as gifts and my recipients were always very surprised with the purchase and had no idea I was able to get such a great deal. Scheduled tint for $199 and was charged $260 after they already laid film on my car and wouldn't adjust the price back to what we originally agreed. The quality of tint is poor, bubbley and half professionally installed at best. For the up charge you think they would've got it right, also I was told it was supposed to take one and half to two hours after dropping the car off at 9AM and it was not ready until after 1PM Bait and switch, poor quality tint that took too long. read more

Tinted my niece's windows for her birthday using a Groupon. There was dirt particles, a scrape on the back window and bubbling. We took it back and were told they wouldn't fix it b/c they no longer carry the kind they sold us and we would have to go to the manufacturer for the warranty. Dec 13, 2024, went to Custom Sounds off hwy 67 to have head unit, speakers and amp installed and steer wheel control installed. I was pleased with the installation, after waiting over 10hrs to have installed . However, after driving away, I noticed my cluster lights on my dash board was out and the controllers on my steering wheel was out. Mind you, I paid for everything they had to offer, even the extended warranty. After calling back several occasions, and was waiting on the manager to return my call, I decided to bring the vehicle back to the shop. Again, the sales person said the manager will give me a call. Never did return my call, 4 days invested in this process. I called back and request the managers number, sale rep. graciously gave me his number. After speaking with the manager, he said that there is nothing he can do about the lights, I informed him it was working fine until you installed the system. He said I'm sorry, it's my responsibility to have it fixed. After spending almost 4k on a system and everything in the my truck was working. Poor customer service, lengthy wait, not trying to hear the concern. I'm not done with situation, will approach this legally. No more will small businesses take advantage of customers as if they have no responsibility in the matter. You all been warned, take your vehicle there at your own risk. I will post a follow up after my court date. Now it's not about the money, it's the principle of the matter and how I was handled. If I win the case kool, if I don't.... No problem. Thanks to custom sounds for installing janky crap, this auto starter that we bought through Groupon which was price bait and switch once we came in for the install. Has caused almost 1000 dollars worth of troubleshooting and throwing parts at our Camaro when all along it was this shit auto starter causing the problem, unplugged and instantly the check engine light went off and haven't had anymore issues. Buyers Beware. Gary the manager of this location seemed like a nice and honest guy until AFTER i paid for my service. The service requested was ambit lighting and it originally was just supposed to take a few hours, then finding out they ordered defective parts for the vehicle and had to keep my car over night. I ask for partial reimbursement for them having to keep my vehicle overnight since i would have to ride share to work now under their inconvenience and he laughed at me and told me that is not how things work. Frustrated I just wanted a refund for the service since I was being talked to disrespectfully and then he refused and told me they would only offer store credit and that was above his pay grade. I asked to speak to the manager about the situation and then he then told me he was the active manager on duty when prior to that he was telling me the situation was above his pay grade. The work they do is pretty solid. I came back to get my second car tinted after a great job on my first one. However, when they worked on my second car, they punctured two holes in my leather seats. It took a few weeks to get the seat fixed. I had to call and coordinate with a few different places. After about four weeks, I paid to fix the seat and I'm currently waiting for Custom Sounds & Tint to reimburse me. Now, being in the service industry, I believe this company should be making sure their customers are happy. I am very much not happy. I had to wait weeks to get it fixed. I had to coordinate the repair. I had pay for it out of pocket first. I was not given any sort of future discount or coupon. I didn't even get an apology for the situation. I am very disappointed. What do you know I show up for my appointment and they said it was going to be over $500 just to install what I already had, so I told them never mind and went across the street to Best Buy to get the wires, spent under 150 bucks, watched a YouTube video and did it myself. They lied over and over again while they had the car about what they were doing, and then left the car in the parking lot unlocked. Someone broke in the damaged the interior trying to steal the car. My daughter took her car there because the speakers were popping they tried selling her new speakers and a $200 two year warranty, total of $576, fortunately we had someone else look at it and it's not the speakers at all. All Custom Sounds are not created equal... I realize I have a complex vehicle due to the shaved door handles, but whoo. I dropped my vehicle off at the Bridgeton location and they literally looked at my car for 7 full days and didn't touch it. This is after I made multiple trips to work out the details and cost for an alarm that can pop my doors and get a 15" sub, amp, radio, whole...I bought everything from them (S. County). Who wants to go by ANYwhere multiple times for broken promises. So, I took it to S. County and BOI! They had it done in less than 5 days...but I had multiple problems that I didn't have when I dropped my vehicle off. Seriously? I repeat, I know I have a complex vehicle, but when I picked up my vehicle, only 1 door pops (2 popped when I dropped it off), manual release doesn't work anymore, newly installed radio has a crack in the face/screen and TOTALLY died in 2 days time (no BULLSHIT, I can't make this shit up), and the sub box was not what I asked for, it was supposed to be flush with spare ramp, but instead, it covered 75% of my trunk...WTH. Uhh...groceries and other things need space. So, I had to wait a full week...brought it back...passenger door still doesn't pop, but they state the actuator needs to be replaced, which they don't do and all other things are fixed. No additional cost...cuzz I wasn't paying that anyway after $2600 was spent on this endeavor. read more

They had my BMW for 4 HOURS to then call me 4 hours later I'm sorry we can't take off the tint or put the new tint on because my windows doesn't work. Yes my windows DO work they DO roll down. Bought a Stereo during the Labor Day sale along with setting up and appt. for them to tint my windows and install the radio. I Paid the down deposit of $70 and had a remaining balance of 686.44. I went in today 9/13/22 to have them install it and I was told the guy never listed what radio i bought so i take them to the case and show them the stereo. The guy puts it in the system and then tells me my new total is almost $1200!!! I told them no way was I paying over what they sold it to me for they said they couldn't do anything about it and won't install it our give me the price for what is on my paper. So, I left, and I highly recommend you guys stay away as well they are liars and bad business for what they do. I wish that I can give this review zero stars. The location I'm talking about is 6960 South Lindbergh. I'm sorry for the long post. Do not patronize this business. They will steal your money and give you a incomplete tint job. I hate doing this to a small business owner but they refuse to resolve the matter. This was the most unprofessional and horrible business establishment that I have ever been to in my entire life. Please do not patronize this business they will do a horrible tint job, they will lie about how long the job will take just to receive payment, they don't manage their time well and they will ultimately steal your money. The owner hires individuals who seem to be under the influence of drugs as "contract workers" so when they do a horrible job the owner will not be accountable for the tint job that his business received payment for. I came to this establishment to get the car windows tinted and was told that it was going to take two hours for the job to be completed. I left and had lunch with a friend, when shopping and ran a couple errands. I was gone maybe 3 1/2 hours and the vehicle still was not done. I was told that he will be done in another hour so I waited. He still wasn't done with work. I left and came back 2 hours later and my vehicle still wasn't ready. I look back in the garage and the one guy was working on three cars at the same time including mine. He then told me that he ran out of tint and Told me that I had to come back the next day after waiting seven hours. Keep in mind he had three other customers waiting as well. The next morning the tint on my window started to Peel and had bubbles in it. I came back and spoke to the owner and I told him how dissatisfied I was with the unfinished work. He could not find the guy to correct a mistakes and he refuse to take responsibility for his business. He told me to come back the next day when the guy got paid. I came back the next day and he still couldn't get in contact with the guy and I asked him to just remove the tent and refund me my money. He refused to refund me my money and told me that the guy was independent contract worker and I had to take it up with him. I was extremely dissatisfied and admitted that he handled the situation he decided to give me 25% of my money back and told me that that was the best that he can do. If you want your equipment installed right and heckled by the Installers before you leave don't come here. After having a kenwood unit put in my car with a backup camera, the camera fell off after a couple months, when i took it back to fix it, the camera fell off the same day. After taking it back for a second time it was installed with a slant. Before that I had a remote start put in and I couldn't unlock my car with the remote because they didn't check to see if the power door locks needed to be connected to a power supply to use the remote and I had to take it back to have them fix that as well. Went out to my truck to find Maryland ( the regional install manager) sitting in the passenger side with his feet up texting. I asked the sales clerk if this was typical. He stated it was certainly unprofessional and he would take care of it. A few minutes later a was approached my Maryland in the parking lot. Amazingly he turned the issue on me. That I should not have an issue or concern with what he does in my vehicle. And why I felt I needed to question him. And this is putting it mildly. I can only guess Maryland has not read Custom Sound's mission statement regarding professionalism and high levels of customer service. I have since learned this location has earned a F rating with the Better Business Bureau. With employees like Maryland I certainly understand why. After my car was vandalized twice in the same month, I had to seriously consider the absurd notion of installing an aftermarket car alarm on my 1996 Ford Taurus. I shopped around, settled on Custom Sounds, and I'm pleased with my purchase and their workmanship. I called for an appointment, and I was scheduled to be seen a week later. It was a sleepless week as I worried about the bodily integrity of my car, but far better 1 week as opposed to Best Buy's 3 week waiting period. My only qualm with CS is as follows: At 10am I told the tech I had class that afternoon and asked him to give me an estimated time of completion so I could either (1) wait or (2) go to school and come back to the shop later. He agreed to call me at noon so I could make a decision. He didn't call and I missed my class waiting for it. Other than that, I was pleased with the tech's demonstration of the alarm, the prices charge, and ultimately the total install time (4 hours). Had two cars tinted at the soco location and couldn't be happier with the work. On the second car we had taken to another tint shop and regretted it. 50 bucks cheaper ended up spending almost double. Came back to custom sounds to have them do it. They were friendly and courteous. Had a issue they took care of it with a smile not like another place on big bend. The shop on big bend gave an attitude with the poor craftsmanship. Will be back next year when we get our new car. Our Prius looks great...almost like it came out of factory tinted. No missing tint. The first guy I dealt with to remove my Viper system from my old car was great and they charged me $75, exactly what they promised. They also told me they would charge me $75 to put it in my new car, that turned out to be wrong. I learned this when I brought the new car in and was told $75 was the base amount just for the remote start, the door locks were more and the truck button was extra. I don't like to be "bait and switched" but they did the work correctly. The job was twice what I was told during my first visit and they didn't care during the second visit. So I will not be going back and will not recommend them to my friends. They could have worked with me but money seemed more important that good customer relations. What a shame! read more
