It was certainly an investment for my husband and I to upgrade to hide a hose but I think it's worth it. Service: Evan arrived on time like he indicated, was polite, fast, and attentive. He even kept taking his shoes off to walk on our new hardwood floors with socks so he didn't track dirt or scratch them, even while he was working. He brought 2 different vacuum systems and let us try them both (they performed exactly like he said they would). And his install was exactly like the estimate described and very neat and tidy. Price: Custom Vacuum Systems is a family owned business that's been around forever, so we were happy to keep the money local and in the hands of small business. But we definitely did our homework and shopped around, that's for sure! When Evan gave us the quote we thought he was leaving out several things the other guys were including, so he politely expanded the words on the quote to be extra explicit that we were wrong and his price was just that much better. We also didn't have to leave a deposit which was nice, and we were very happy with the overall value and price of the system and service. Product: We went with the following: x2 Hide a Hose systems, one upstairs and one downstairs, with 50' of hose in each x1 Port with 30' vacuum hose in the garage x2 Ports with 30' vacuum hose in the basement All the attachments and adapters and brushes and tools you could imagine, and 2 wall mountable extension handles; carpet and wood floor attachments, beater brush, you name it we got it x1 DB700 vacuum system (the one with the bags and filters to ensure there's no mess) We also had him vent it outside for any smells just in case, and he threw in a free set of bags to last for years. The system we went with is super strong and will support a 7,000 square foot house even though we only have like half that. Timing: The estimate took about an hour just because the wife kept asking questions and Evan have very thorough answers. He took the time to crawl in the attic and keep taking his shoes off, and gave us a very clear picture of where he would run all the pipe and how it would look. We were sold right there. The actual job took about 6 hours, and there were a guys for about 3 of those hours, both very professional. Evan showed and did most of the work himself. And he again verified everything with us about where to place the ports and make the holes. We recently bought a ten year old condo with a builders special central vacuum system. In our previous house we had a Vacuflo system for twenty years in which we never had a problem. The suction of that unit was significantly more powerful than the one installed in the condo. We called Custom Vacuum Systems and spoke to Melissa and Evan the owner who told us our options. We decided on the disposable bag model (DB5000) which features a special triple layer CleanShield filter bag which captures 100% of dust and allergens in your house. The mechanic who came to change and install the new unit was a young man named Josh. He was incredible. The first thing he did was check our current system to see if there was any blockage in the hose lines. He said no use replacing a unit that just might need servicing due to blockage. After determining that the unit was working properly and was operating at its full capacity, he said the Vacuflo unit we had chosen would be significantly more powerful if we wanted to proceed. After we gave him the go ahead, he installed the new unit and then demonstated the increased suction power. It was exactly what we wanted. By the way while Josh was installing the new Vacuflo unit, I mentioned to him that I had a garage outlet on my previous unit for vacuuming my garage and cars. The condo unit system did not have one. He said no problem and put an outlet in for me while hooking up the new system at no extra charge!! Evan had also told Josh to give us six extra CleanShield six gallon filter bags which usually last six months to a year each. This is a special company with a special owner (Evan) who has hired special employees. Now I can see why they always have gotten 5 star ratings from all their customers. Fantastic service from the start to finish! While gathering bids for repair on my central vac, I was told by every company that came in that they had never seen a system like mine and all wanted to replace the entire system to the tune of thousands. When I called Custom Vacuum. I was impressed from the start, I spoke to Holly who asked me to send her some pictures so they could be prepared and well versed when coming to look at the job. After reviewing the pictures, the owner Jim contacted me and set an appointment. Jim was right on time and knew exactly what kind of system I had. He presented many options and really tried to work with me to get the best system I could within my budget. Jim's son Evan who is also an owner came to do the installation along with a tech Josh.
