There used to be an excellent and professional young man who worked at Stony Brook Vacuums. When he left unfortunately I had to deal with the owner, Robin. I dropped off an item that had to be repaired. I kept calling to see if it was ready to be picked up. Many messages were left and I never received a call back. I finally was so aggravated that when I was on my way to my daughter's I went over there to pick up the item since it was there for months. The item disappeared, but Robin did give me another one. The principle is call. Now I had problems with another appliance and she took the piece I needed and said she would order it from the company. I told her I was in a rush due to the fact that I was with my daughter and baby granddaughter in the car and my daughter had to get home to feed her. She took the order and once again I never received a call if the piece I needed came in. I gave her a call to see if the piece ever came in. She nastily hung up on me accusing me of being nasty when I was in the store in which I was not. Robin does not return calls!! Robin lacks integrity and professionalism!! Everyone beware of this store. There are other more professional stores to do business with. read more

I rarely write reviews but I feel compelled to write this because of a not-so-great review that I had read about this store and the owner, Robin. That review has been deleted somehow, most likely by the nasty lady that wrote it! She probably realized how wrong she was and how utterly nasty she was! If you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all! Anyway, I have been going to this store for YEARS to either get my Oreck vacuum repaired or to purchase other items. Robin is not only extremely nice but she is professional beyond belief and knowledgeable about all things concerning repairs and vacuums! She even lends me a vacuum (if one is available) when I drop mine off and she does not charge anything for it! In this world of craziness nowadays, it's nice to know that a hardworking businesswoman is there to help and that her store is still standing amongst all the other retail giants out there! It's much easier to just purchase a new vacuum when something goes wrong but I love my vacuum and thanks to Robin, she has given it a makeover and new life quite a few times already and I sooo appreciate EVERYTHING that she does for me and everything that she is and stands for! It just goes to show that there are still people out there who care, who want to help others and who takes pride in their workmanship! I HIGHLY recommend going to this store for a new vacuum, specialty floor cleaners but especially for repairs! It's a dying art and it's almost impossible to find a repair shop like this ANYWHERE anymore! Sorry this is so long but when a bully is out there spewing nasty remarks that are undeserving in every way, then someone needs to step up to not only defend the person that has done no wrong but to let this bully-ish person know that it is unacceptable to be intentionally mean and cruel to another individual ESPECIALLY when they are an innocent bystander! I had given Stony Brook Vacuum a very positive review a couple of years ago and I must say they never disappoint. I buy some supplies and machines from them . The woman in the store is very sweet and an absolute pleasure to deal with . Today she offered to fix an out of warranty machine I bought from her gratis . She gave me an extra charger because I lost 2 off them at my business. for my 2 machines of that type . She always takes the time to explain the products . In this era of online ordering and corporate healthcare , it is very important to keep the small businesses in business! read more

Took my Electrolux vacuum to Stony Brook Vacuum and was glad they were able to repair it. The manager, Robin was very helpful and explained that the vacuum had to be taken apart just to repair the collar on the power nozzle and part of the process they clean it out and change the belts. It is hard to get things repaired these days and was grateful not to have to pay for a new vacuum since the model I bought was expensive. I will report back once the vacuum is repaired. For now I would like to rate as 5 stars based on my interaction wit the manager. read more

See? You're gonna rattle my cage and I'm gonna slam you. I'm a pretty cheery chap. It's Saturday morning. I drop off my dog to get groomed. I stop in Starbucks and get a hot coffee. I have new shoes on. I'm a happy guy. My happiness fades when I come into this store for vacuum bags. I walk into an empty store. I see the salesperson, he's an older gentleman and I say I need.. Hold up, he says, I was helping this customer. No problem, I stand to the side with my coffee. No charge the counter person says, it was an easy fix. I say, damn, that's good customer service! The customer is leaving with his vacuum and I walk over. Hold up! This customer was next. ?? I say, all I need is vacuum bags. The douche bag customer hears what I said. This counter person takes out a screw driver and starts to go to town on his vacuum. All I need is to buy bags............... The both of them are talking and I'm starting to get pissed. The guy changes the part and I'm saying to myself, this whole thing is uncool. If I was the customer, I'd say. Help this chap first. No biggie. No, this customer is a tool. So I step in closer so the tool has to say "Excuse me" He pays, turns around and squeezes between me and his repaired vacuum!? I stare down at him. He's ready to leave and I tell the salesperson: I don't know who to be pissed at, you or this douchebag that just left the store. You had me waiting around for 15 minutes. Well.. I.. Well I've read the two reviews and have to say that this business must have turned the corner. I dropped off my 15 yr old Miele for repairs. The sales woman that assisted me couldn't have been more pleasant. Repaired and returned in one day. Installed a new bag and filters and cleaned the heck out of my vacuum. Looks brand new...I wouldn't consider going anywhere else for service. First time yelper but thought it needed to said. All the best read more

Very bad experience... The owner apparently needs to be on some type of mood medication. I purchased a vacuum cleaner , spent a good amount of money from the older gentleman associate the day before. Long story short, their was a manufacturers problem With the vacuum cleaner, this owner WOULD NOT TAKE THE MACHINE BACK AFTER ONE DAY OF OWNING IT! Receipt and all! I walked in with my two young children, set the machine down, and showed him the receipt. He became very weird when I told him I would like to return this one for another ... He took my machine which was in the box, went to the back for about 20 minutes, didn't tell me what he was doing. I stood out side in his store front for quit sometime not knowing what was going on. My two little ones were quiet, and waiting appropriately. Almost 20 minutes later, the owner walks out with the purchased vacuum cleaner , and tells me he cant do anything for me. At that point I felt confused for a mere second, because I had purchased the item THE DAY BEFORE! And I had the receipt to prove it! I asked him what was his return policy, I have never heard such a thing, and thats when he started yelling at me to get out of his store and take my vacuum cleaner with me.. I was not going to argue with him as he frighted me, specially having my two little ones present. I just turned around grabbed their hands an got out as fast as I could. Right behind me the irate owner literally threw my vacuum, that again, I purchase the day before , out the door behind me . I went home, leaving the vacuum cleaner, called my bank and cancelled payment and called it a day ... NEVER WILL I STEP NEAR THAT WHOLE SHOPPING CENTER AS LONG AS THAT OWNER IS STILL THERE... I still can't believe what had happen.. Nor can my children. They are still mentioning the mean vacuum cleaner man who was yelling at mommy.... UNBELIEVABLE SITUATION I WAS FORCED TO BE IN AS WELL AS MY CHILDREN! Thank God! I was smart enough to leave and not care about anything else but getting out with my children ... I did tell my husband what had happen that evening, and begged him not to go and do anything. Our payment was stopped, and we ended up being whole money wise. As for my two boys?
