I was looking for someone to help me with my leaning 15x20 foot trellis in my backyard. Didn't want to demolish it if possible as it has a beautiful wisteria plant already growing on it (and probably causing the leaning :)), but see if it could be made structurally sound. Roy Pales and his team at Rustic Woodwork and Design did just that. Roy was quick to come out, listen to my requests, assess the trellis and give me a fair estimate. He offered a separate price for sanding and staining. I mentioned I may have to wait to do the staining, as I was trying to keep to a certain budget and Roy completely understood. We agreed to the repair work first, and he said he would be available to do the staining when I could swing it. He and his team out the following week on our agreed upon day. They were able to complete the repair work in one day, replacing the 6 support posts and adding brackets , without disturbing the top part of the trellis. There was a concern about having to cut a part of the wisteria (which didn't end up happening), but Roy was up front about any concern he had. At the end of the day, they moved the patio furniture back into place (they had moved everything in the morning), vacuumed up all the sawdust and left me with a beautiful trellis. I was so pleased with the work, that when I received a tax refund, I contacted Roy to do the staining/finishing job. He helped me select a color to match the old and new wood. He was also in contact with me for various changes to the job (i.e. power washing the the old wood per the stain representative) and following up with how I liked it. His co-worker DJ did the majority of the work on this, and he did a great job. Again, he moved the furniture (and 2 heavy windchimes attached to the trellis) away then back again at the end of the workday. There was a miscommunication about how much of the trellis was to be stained, but this was addressed right away. The total time of staining was 1.5 days. The trellis looks great!!! I wasn't looking forward to having to vet someone out for this project, but I was pleasantly surprised to be able to meet and work with Roy. I'm not that experienced in working with contractors, but he made working and communicating with him easy. I highly recommend Rustic Woodwork and Design and will use them again in the future. read more

He was asked to use materials that were relatively new and with which he had not worked previously. He presented a very reasonable bid considering the demands and magnitude of the project and proceeded to complete the deck with a level of skill and craftsmanship that exceeded our expectations. Because the height of the deck necessitated the use of scissor lifts, Roy and his team were forced to adapt to less than ideal conditions.
