    Afternoon tea
    Rolonda D.

Verdict: Recommends for Afternoon tea (but come with a sweet tooth) Located inside the Rosewood hotel I checked out Cut by Wolfgang Puck for their spring Afternoon tea. For those unfamiliar, afternoon tea is typically served in three parts: savory, scones and then sweets/cakes. At Cut, they had a trio of sandwiches for their savory course: a smoked trout and cucumber sandwich, a lobster roll, and an egg salad croissant. All of the sandwiches were delicious. They served both golden raisin and lemon zest scones with clotted cream, honey and jam. The scones were not too dense and paired well with the clotted cream and the jam. For the sweet course they served Madelines, a pineapple and passion fruit tart, a meringue based dessert and a dark chocolate mousse base dessert. Overall I enjoyed all aspects of the afternoon tea. The servers were attentive and they took the time to explain each part of the afternoon tea menu. My only critiques were that the menu leaned very sweet. At other afternoon tea options I have been to there is more of a balance between the sweet and savory options; however, at cut the savory options being served at a different time than the sweet options made the sweetness of everything else overwhelming by the end. My second critique would be I wish they had more incentive tea flavors. Some other afternoon teas I've been to that have the theme of spring have selections like Lavender Earl Grey, or Cherry blossom themed tea etc. At Cut, the tea selection was extensive but with mostly basic flavors like English Breakfast, Lemon Ginger, Darjeeling etc. not a lot of flavored teas to match the season. I really I still had a good experience and would do tea here again.

Came here for Restaurant week in February 2025. It's priced at $65 a person which is a great value considering how expensive their regular menu is. All of the items in the RW menu are on their dinner menu. The interior is classy not modern like their Vegas location. Cocktails range from $20-$30 each so it can really add up fast. Valet parking is $25. We all enjoyed most of the dishes though the rockfish was a tad overcooked. I would definitely get the American Wagyu Bavette au Poivre Frites, the Basque Style Cheesecake and Dark Chocolate Soufflé again. Been to the Vegas location couple of times and that one is a tad better. I'll come back to try their regular dinner menu though.

We celebrated our one year anniversary at CUT, and the food did not disappoint. The quality of the steaks were the finest, the shoe string truffle fries was a must, and the dessert (complimentary chocolate mousse and churros) were a nice indulgent touch. Knocking down a star due to service - at first, service was attentive but midway through, the waitress had too many customers at once - we had to ask for water a few times. The kitchen operated a bit slow (took us 30-40 mins to get our entrees), which was disappointing given that we were there for a bit too long! Given how expensive this restaurant is, I would expect service and kitchen timing to be impeccable.

I've had nothing but fantastic experiences at CUT DC. I've been twice for dinner and once for breakfast, all while as a guest at the Rosewood Hotel. It's beautiful and tasteful, with a lovely patio and elegant bar. It's a comfortable and relaxed experience, yet still refined. Service has always been outstanding. For breakfast, I had coffee, French toast, and bacon, all of which made for a good, hearty morning meal. For my evening meals, I've had a variety of items and one cocktail, the rum-based Start Me Up, a delicious passion fruit concoction. Meals have consisted of halibut, mac and cheese, Maine lobster pasta, bread basket, winter citrus salad, and pineapple vacherin. Halibut is always a favorite, and this was paired with carrot curry, pea shoot, Thai basil, and lime leaf oil, and it was delicate yet flavorful. The bread basket is delectable and a must-order. The lobster pasta has plenty of lobster, which is great. I think the stand out for me has been the winter citrus and burrata salad, which has castelfranco, rosa del veneto, wildflower honey, and fennel pollen. It's a gorgeous bed of citrus and vegetables for the burrata. It's the most beautiful and delicious salad I've ever tasted. I am completely obsessed. I appreciate the seasonal changes to the menu and I am really looking forward to returning to CUT DC.

Food was great! Service was the best. Limited menu but well rounded. The atmosphere was elegant. We were traveling... so, probably won't be back for a while, but we like WGP restaurants.

I went during their cherry blossom season. Compared to other high teas I've been to, I really didn't enjoy my experience here. The food was a little bland. The service was nice though. I don't think I'll be visiting again.

So I came here for restaurant week and what can I say? This place is so good! Pretzel bread was so good my friend had to order another one! So a great start. Everyone else was going dry January so they enjoyed the mocktails but for me if I'm paying $16 (how much the mocktails are) it needs to have some punch to it. Also the featured restaurant week cocktails were 15... I think I got a Long Island. Group ordered the butter lettuce salad- clean tasting I loved. You can get the bluefin tuna but if for r week be mindful of how add ons can impact that restaurant week price. The Ceasar was a favorite as well. Second course: I got the wagyu bolognese and it slapped! The rockfish was also super good! My friend got the crab rice which she enjoyed and of course someone got the steak (up charge as well). And all of us loved our food. Really enjoyed the rockfish. We ordered all desserts from the r week so churros, cheesecake and soufflé. We have no complaints about the foood at all! All the food is good- make sure if they are busy you double check what was ordered. Thought I ordered a Long Island but yeah... cocktails are like 18-27 ish? Be prepared for that. Still water is $10, sparking water 10$ by the bottle so be mindful of that. Ordering more pretzel bread is gonna cost you like $4 so agains be mindful. The place is cute they didn't rush us out and honestly no issues there! Stop here!

CUT was not a bad experience by any means; however, as compared to other steakhouses in the city, it is not the greatest nor would it be my first choice. We were seated promptly at our reservation time. Love a restaurant that is timely! The decor was your typical steakhouse repertoire -- glass wine encasings, classy/beautiful seating, dim lighting, etc. I ordered the Hamachi Sashimi as my appetizer and their fish with rice. I also tried their burger and steak. The Hamachi Sashimi was amazing. I don't recall the name of the sauce, but it was delish! I wanted more. I would go back for that. The fish with jasmine rice sat in a sweet curry-based sauce. I cleaned it. No complaints. The ribeye fell a bit short for me. It didn't have the succulent, juicy, robust flavor I am used to. It could have been executed better. The burger was also tasty. So, I was going to rate CUT as a 3 -- but, it's closer to 3.5-3.75...so I guess with rounding, a 4 it is. Oh! There's valet and CUT is located inside the Rosewood Hotel in Georgetown. Cheers

Amazing. The cheesecake is to die for!!!!!! People told me their cut churros was the best dessert on the menu but the cheesecake takes the prize, hands down. I couldn't give it 5 stars because the ambiance and decor. But food and dessert 100% recommend

Food was incredible! The space is very pretty and has lots of seating options. Definitely get the filet, you won't be disappointed!

Two years between visits and, wow, prices have significantly increased. 50% higher I'd guess. Two people, each with an appetizer and main, $85 bottle of wine, and no dessert -- $500 with tip. Ouch. Artisanal Bread -- the rosemary & tomato foccacia was excellent but there wasn't much of it. Maybe it's good w didn't fill up on bread. Bluefin Tuna Sashimi - exceptionally fresh. Wish there was a low sodium version of the soy. Hamachi Sashimi -- eh. Was disappointing and a very small portion. Filet Mignon -- Ordered medium rare plus and it was perfectly cooked. Very tender. Heavy hand on the salt. Tomahawk Ribeye -- 40 ounces counting the bone and a distressing number of fatty pieces. This dish (and the price) is the main reason I dropped from 4 to 3 stars. A large wine list at surprisingly decent prices. Service was solid but not amazing. Cut is good. At these prices it should be great.

This little hidden gemof a restaurant! Ambiance is elegant, classy, and inviting! Much larger than you would expect for a restaurant in Georgetown and quite comfortable! Juan was our server and he knew the menu backwards, forward, up, down! He was quite specific in his suggestions. Inquiring as to the level of our appetite and what we generally had a taste for. All of his suggestions were spot on. The food was meh as an overall experience. Each dish was served at the appropriate temperature, a beautiful presentation and arrived to the table in a timely manner. Appetizer: The salmon and avocado sushi was wonderful. I could've eaten four plates of those! The sushi was rolled very large which was a challenge that I happily took on! The rice was warm and soft and the Nori was perfect! I requested spicy mayo, which did not come with it, but it was served with soy sauce. Again, I could've had an entire dinners worth of it! Entree: My crab fried rice was a generous portion and a lovely egg tortilla. Unfortunately, it was incredibly salty so much so that I really could not taste the crab. I would order it again to give it a second chance though. My companion had the Wagyu fillet which he said was definitely a nine out of 10! He chose the broccolini as the side and it was really good. Be careful though because if you don't want Parmesan, it automatically comes with it and unfortunately, we had to send it back because we were not aware of that. We did not order Wine nor cocktails, but I feel pretty confident that they would've been paired nicely with our meals. The ambience really made this a wonderful place to dine. Plus velvet seating warm lights, a gentle atmosphere that made you feel at these with exceptional service. I look forward to coming back here again, but I may only get appetizers.

As tourists, we had no idea how intimate the space was (or that reservations are recommended even just for drinks!), so we felt incredibly lucky when a staff member took pity on us and offered an outside table. I wish I could remember his name--he truly made the experience. He brought so much energy and personality, setting the tone for the whole night. After scanning the QR codes on the "records" for the menu, we each ordered something different. I went with the Take Me Out--a mix of mezcal, pineapple, amontillado, tamarind, mango, coconut, and lime--and I was not prepared for just how delicious it would be. It was layered, refreshing, and completely memorable. The presentation and attention to detail were next-level. My drink arrived with a perfectly round ice sphere and was paired with a sugared, vegan mango gummy that added a fun, unexpected twist. Our host also elevated several of the drinks tableside--adding custom tinctures and even creating a smiley face with drops of oil and basil in one cocktail nearby. It felt thoughtful, creative, and a little theatrical in the best way. We spent the evening outside, enjoying incredible drinks, easy conversation, and a warm night under the stars. It was one of those experiences that just sticks with you. I'm already looking forward to my next trip to D.C.--and Press Club Bar of Record will absolutely be on my list to revisit. Highly recommend, and maybe make a reservation!

I feel the price for the portion is kinda expensive though 8/10 Chili wontons - skin is silky and soft, sauce is savory with a small kick as well! Even though the sauces look similar to beef noodle they taste very different. The fillings had good flavor and overall were good but were a bit tougher and dryer than I would prefer. 6/10 Crab fried rice - crab is slightly overcooked but naturally sweet. It has a light curry taste throughout and was pretty good but didn't really stand out 5.5/10 Mapo tofu - slight kick and nice savory taste in the sauce! However I think they cut the tofu pieces way too large or the tofu they chose had way too much tofu flavor that overpowers the sauce. I'd prefer a very light silky tofu but this was a soft tofu. 6/10 Vpod - at first it just tasted like orange juice but then the other flavors peek through on the after taste and when I mixed it more. Even though it was good, it still felt very basic 5/10 Philadelphia Scotsman - it's pretty ginger forward. Technically the level of ginger spice is fine but strong but then the rest of the drink got completely overpowered and so this just wasn't that great 2.5/10
