So first of all I work night shift and had ONE DAY off to get my hair done. All the places near me were by appointment only SPECIFICALLY for curly hair so I ended up calling Cut N Curls and they called me back and said to come in! I live an hour away so they were very accommodating and when I finally arrived they were empty so I was seated immediately and she began working on my hair. The problems with my hair were: roots were flat, I had previous bleach from a botched job years ago, my curls were falling FLAT. So I needed a revamp for my hair and omg did they deliver. Below are pics of my hair directly before arriving, I only wet and combed my hair since she does a dry cut and that was recommended to come with my hair brushed. Then after the dry cut, I asked for layers and she warned me about shrinkage which for some people I understand why having shorter hair would be a big thing for them but for me I just wanted my hair to be healthy and finally get rid of the bleached ends. I told her I've never had a haircut before and boy did my hair show it lol. The process: It was a dry cut, I was washed and then they styled the curls with water by sectioning and curling them individually, then was mousse and they scrunched it up. I was dried in the normal way I would dry my curls at home and the end result was amazing! My curls are back to being bouncy and the hair is healthy so I'm very happy! 3 people worked on me simultaneously and they were all nice. Also I came in around 4:45pm and I was finished at 5:52pm. Second worst haircut in my life; the worst was when I cut it myself in 7th grade. I asked Samina, because of her stellar online reviews, to even out a previous haircut so I could either blow dry my curly hair or let it go natural. She noted that my hair was noticeably uneven and longer on one side. True. But what I ended up with was even MORE uneven, and MUCH shorter than I wanted, with odd pieces sticking out here and there. What I got was what another stylist, also Deva-trained, called "The Curly Hair Show." Samina chopped away at my dry hair with a scissor, like Edward Scissorhands trimming a hedge, strictly by eye. That took 20 minutes. Then her assistant spent an HOUR wetting and rewetting and moussing and gelling and scrunching, cutting off random pieces, forcing my much-shorter hair into a mop of glossy curls that were already starting to frizz just hours later. That was in July. I had to let it grow for over seven months before I felt I had enough hair for another stylist to work with. I don't think Samina even ever asked me for my name. She didn't enter my name in the book when I called, told me to "just come in." I paid cash for a lower price (her request) but it was still very expensive. I'm stunned by her near-perfect, glowing reviews, which were what attracted me to her in the first place. But that is exactly why I feel I owe others an honest, unsolicited opinion. read more

I've been going to Samina for my haircuts for close to a year! It's always scary as a curly-haired person to try someone new (I have a 3b curl pattern), but as soon as I met Samina I knew I was in good hands. She only serves 1 customer at a time, so you have her undivided attention. She is a great listener and helps understand the vision you have for your hair. My first 3 cuts from her were not curly cuts, they were routine cuts to start to get my hair growing and healthy again. After my 3rd cut Samina said, next time, it's curly cut time, and I knew she was right. It was time! Samina is certified in the Cadō cut and I am EXTREMELY pleased with the results of the cut. This was a very disappointing curly cut, made much worse by a stylist (she mentioned she is the owner of the salon) who was proselytizing the entire time and scolding me about how I was not religious enough! it was so uncomfortable to be criticized and told I should be following the stylist's religious beliefs, while I'm trapped listening because she's cutting my hair! On top of that she gave me a shaggy cut, which is the opposite of what I asked for. I felt so awful when I got home. It's a clean and nice looking salon and I can def forgive an imperfect cut, but the long and critical religious lecture was so weird and unprofessional that I just can not recommend this place. read more

You get what you pay for. I came in for a dry curly cut, which starts at $135+ as listed on the website but my cut wound up being $175 because I have very thick and very long hair. Mina took time and care to make sure I was comfortable, understood the scope of the pricing for my personal cut, and took the time to understand the look I was trying to achieve. I found this stylist on google after searching for curly hair stylists near me. I originally made an appointment for a curly dry cut but when I went in she convinced me that I may not want to waste a lot of money getting a curly cut if it meant I couldn't dedicate time to care for my curls--which is legitimate and good advice. I opted instead for a regular haircut with a blowdry which cost me about $108 with tax. My appointment was for 4pm and I wasnt seen until an hour later. Initially I thought she seemed like a friendly enough person until she proceeded to complain to me in various different ways about me smelling like curry for the next hour. She asked if I cooked curry before I came to her and I said that I ate south asian food before I came. I constantly apologized to her but felt unwelcome the entire time. She went on to explain that her clientele were white and she always made sure she did not smell like desi food around them. She is knowledgeable about hair and I liked my haircut but I did not enjoy the constant prying into my personal life and racist comments about my culture. She also assumed that all of my previous stylists were south asian and believed that I did not spend a lot of money on my hair (I dont understand why). I felt unwelcome because of my ethnic background and I will not be returning. I felt bullied by a typical desi auntie. I normally tip my stylists 20% even if they are the owner but I tipped her much, much less because of the poor service. read more

The prices they show online don't reflect in store prices (since when I made the appointment, it said the cut would be $60 and the treatment $15).
