Overall bad experience and would never recommend to any friends in the area.

I originally intended to bite the bullet and schlep into the city to a devachon salon to spend $200 on one of their famous curly cuts, but when covid hit I had to put those plans on hold. Thanks to the many recommendations from PM's to go to John, I'm so happy I never made it into the city. From the moment I stepped into the salon I was made to feel welcome, and John spent a ton of time teaching me how to take care of my curls while giving me the best cut I have ever had. The salon was extremely clean and up to date with all the covid precautions. I left with a bunch of samples and a totally transformed, happy head of hair. All in all if you're on the fence about where to go to get your curly hair cut, take it from someone who hasn't let someone touch their hair with a pair of scissors in years; I will definitely be returning to John in the future and hope you decide to give his salon a shot too. This Plainview business undoubtedly deserves to make it through these hard times and be successful for many years to come.

I live an hour away so they were very accommodating and when I finally arrived they were empty so I was seated immediately and she began working on my hair. The problems with my hair were: roots were flat, I had previous bleach from a botched job years ago, my curls were falling FLAT. So I needed a revamp for my hair and omg did they deliver. Below are pics of my hair directly before arriving, I only wet and combed my hair since she does a dry cut and that was recommended to come with my hair brushed. Then after the dry cut, I asked for layers and she warned me about shrinkage which for some people I understand why having shorter hair would be a big thing for them but for me I just wanted my hair to be healthy and finally get rid of the bleached ends. I told her I've never had a haircut before and boy did my hair show it lol. The process: It was a dry cut, I was washed and then they styled the curls with water by sectioning and curling them individually, then was mousse and they scrunched it up. I was dried in the normal way I would dry my curls at home and the end result was amazing! My curls are back to being bouncy and the hair is healthy so I'm very happy! 3 people worked on me simultaneously and they were all nice. Also I came in around 4:45pm and I was finished at 5:52pm. Total was $250 but u get what u pay for and I'm very much happy.

I asked for honey color highlights and i said that because my hair is damaged the color (foils) takes very fast. The foils were left for close to 40 minutes. She then had to use a toner because my highlight were too light. Now with the toner you can hardly even notice i have highlights. The color for my gray roots was left on for only 10 min. When i questioned why its ont on longer she said they are European colors and only need 10 min to cover the gray roots. She said she also added a treatment for the color to last longer. Now one week later I see gray all over my head. The cost was $350 and with tip over $400. That is a lot of $ to not be happy

And when she was applying the wax onto me, I noticed she never threw away any sticks. Oh my god. I'm too nice of a person to say anything in real life so I just had to come on here and warn u guys. You're not supposed to apply the wax onto the person and then PUT THE SAME STICK BACK IN THE WAX AGAIN. Those wooden stick things are so inexpensive too. Literally just get them in bulk on Aliexpress or something, and please THROW EACH STICK AWAY AFTER EACH APPLICATION. Omg. This is not something to be cheap about.... Wouldn't you rather have disease free wax. The ladies who work there are so so nice and I feel really bad saying this, but I'm grossed out and I wish someone had warned me. Also I think I might have gotten burned because I came home, showered immediately and there's this one part that hurts more than the rest. This has never happened to me before. I applied aloe and neosporin and now it doesn't sting but still slightly irritated. I suggest you don't go here for a Brazilian wax but for things like eyebrow threading, maybe. But I'm honestly scared rn. I got burned AND the lady was double dipping. Now I have trust issues and I think I'm just gonna try laser hair removal from now on UPDATE: I was definitely burned and now I keep it constantly moisturized with coconut oil because part of my skin is peeling off. The coconut oil is helping so that's a relief. It's been 3 days, so it's better now but it's been on the back of my mind for 3 days. I'm going to the gynecologist to make sure everything is OK. This wax kind of ruined my Labor Day weekend. For sensitive areas like Bikini, brazilian.... I can't believe you would double dip and make the wax so hot. I'm annoyed. Who does that......
