I moved from NJ and tried my first Colchester hair salon ( near McDonald's). What a mess! The young lady couldn't get my hair color right at all. The two times I was there, the haircuts were half-( you fill in the blank) haircuts. The owner was never around when I called to make appointments, nor when I was there. She left her business in the hands of an inexperienced ( though she was nice) girl. I then tried Hair Magic in Colchester, Connecticut & I LOVE IT! Dottie, the owner, is an excellent hair stylist. Really has extensive knowledge in cutting curly hair and understood immediately the hair color I wanted. It's been now about three years going to Hair Magic Salon and I would not go anywhere else.

He also offers for us to return within a week if my son doesn't like his cut so he can resolve any issues. Prices are very reasonable. Each time we come here the salon is packed. It's such a cool vibe in the salon. Many smiles and chatter with clients and hairdressers. There's a nail room here as well. I think there are many regulars. The salons is very clean and tidy. Very modern chic decor. It is in an office building with ample parking. The only complaint I do have is the stairs for entrance making it not ADA friendly. However, sitting in the waiting area I see a "back door" and maybe that's ADA entrance but I'm not sure. I highly recommend this establishment. We love Alex and all of the staff we've encountered have been very kind and friendly.

It was same day notice ... and woman's hair takes longer // is different and so I was nervous just that it might be rushed. Alex took his time and was a wonderful conversationalist. He took the time to wash and dry my hair and I left feeling like 1,000,000$. I had three appointments with Lorena, the owner of the Salon. She did my hair color and a cut. One…read moreweek after my first visit, the color had washed out and the grey roots were clearly visible. To be fair, she got me in right away an recolored it, thankfully, because it looked terrible. After my second visit, the color lasted for two weeks but had to be corrected again. The roots didn't turn as grey, but my hair went from brown to copper red. Lorena was able to fix it within a couple of days, so I tried again. I hoped by then, she would do a better job. Unfortunately, that third appointment was not a good decision: so much of the color washed out, my grandson asked me if I had dyed my hair blond. This is not a problem I have ever had in the past, so don't understand why Lorena couldn't get it right. I finally gave up and switched to another hair stylist at a different salon. My color has been perfect ever since.
