She is well versed in color theory, was able to achieve desired color, knowledgeable about products with an extensive well-rounded background in all things hair. I've been getting my hair styled at this salon by the owner Rosetta, for at least 20 years. I'm not sure why I've never thought to do a review until now. I couldn't imagine putting my trust in anyone else to do my hair. I love Rosetta's expertise and honest opinions and she makes me look my best. We've been through bobs, slide cuts, perms, you name it. I had my bridal party done at the same time as my wedding hairstyle. I tried many CT salons when I moved up from Baltimore and had no luck until finding Cutter's Edge due to a recommendation from a friend. I was lucky enough to find Erika who has done an incredible job EVERY TIME I've gone. I'm very picky about my hair and it was terrifying having to try out new stylists to see if anyone was at the level I was used to with my previous stylist. I actually prefer Erika to my old stylist and the salon as a whole is wonderful. Everyone is friendly and helpful. You get a call a few days in advance to remind you of your appointment and to make sure you can still make it (so if you need to cancel, so you won't be charged any extra fees). The stylists regularly attend workshops and classes to learn new techniques and the gals offer you water, coffee, tea or wine when you arrive. It's always a relaxing and fun experience and most importantly, I always leave extremely happy with my hair. The salon is upscale, but not too pricey- especially for the end result and experience you receive while there. I have seen clients of all ages and styles walk in and leave happy. From edgy and punk rock (my hair happens to be blue, currently) to subtle and sophisticated, they really can do it all. :) I HIGHLY recommend Cutter's Edge and Erika. read more

Cutter's Edge advertises that it is open until 4pm on Saturdays; the front door states "walk-ins welcome". I would not have walked through the door if it weren't for these two factors. The receptionist was welcoming and conversational, and I told her I was a walk in. She acknowledged I was a new "client" and signed me in, stating that one of the employees was finishing up another client and would be with me. Having walked in on a Saturday, I did not mind a wait. This first impression became the first and only positive thought regarding my experience at Cutter's Edge. After a 15 to 20 minute wait, and with about two hours remaining before the supposed 4pm close, the hair dresser finished up with her current client, and proceeded to whisper with the receptionist. The receptionist then approached me and stated that the hair dresser needed to leave and could not accommodate me. Despite other employees on site, no one ahead of me in the waiting area, and the salon supposedly open another two hours, she asked if she could schedule me an appointment for Tuesday. Seat a customer at a restaurant, make them wait 20 minutes for service, tell them that you don't have time to serve them, and ask them if they'd like to book a reservation for next week: are you seriously going to expect them to return? If you are looking for an establishment with a real "Edge", that respects your time and values your business, this is just not the place. I have been coming here for a few years now and always see Elizabeth. She gives her professional opinion of which styles and cuts will look best on me and factors in my lifestyle and how much time/effort I will be putting into my hair each day. She always seems to be going to hair shows and learning new techniques as well. All the employees definitely have a passion for hair and I can tell they love their line of work and being around their clients. Even though I do not dye my hair, I have seen every color of hair in that salon and they are not afraid to try any trend or style. Cutters edge advertises that they offer nail services. Twice I have attempted to make an appointment for a pedicure. I called the main number as listed for cutters edge and was told that they do not book the manicure and pedicure appointments because they book their own appointments. They told me that they would have to have someone call me back. I asked when they thought I could expect a call back, would it be within a couple hours and they said they had no idea. I gave up at that point and decided to go elsewhere. Just last week I decided to try them again. I called the main number and was told that they booked their own appointments and that they would have someone call me back. This time I left my name and phone number. It has been several days now and no one has called me back. So the fact that cutters edge advertises that they have nail services is very misleading. I have now wasted days waiting for them to call me back and I'm now scrambling for an appointment somewhere else. I will never call cutters edge again. I do not recommend. read more

I picked this place because they advertised such nice before and after pictures on social media. I have been going to Cutter's Edge for years and actually travel down from Boston just to have my hair done by Lorraine -- I wouldn't let anyone else touch it. She is a color wizard and does the most incredible job with shaping my thick hair. Her instagram, @hairbyrain, is updated often to show her current work, and if I message her with questions about my own hair or ask about one of the styles I see, she always gets back to me with suggestions or ideas. She is also honest, which is so important in a stylist - Lorraine will always talk to me if she is questioning something I think I want. I've come to trust her so entirely that I can just say things like "I want to change it for summer" and she will know exactly what to do. I've referred my mother, both sisters, friends and cousins to her and every single one of them is now a regular. The salon itself is immaculate, the girls at the desk are always incredibly attentive and all the other clients I see walking out from other stylists look gorgeous as well. Cutters edge was my first experience with a professional salon and it was the best decision I ever made for my hair. I came in the first time with purple/gray awful looking hair that I had ruined by dyeing too many times on my own. My goal was to be as blonde as possible and I was not expecting to achieve it on the first try. Somehow Micheal was able to work magic in one session and I ended up with flawless white/blonde hair. I came here for a blow out. Minutes after arriving I got a call that I had to leave within 45 minutes. Rosetta got me in and out quickly but I didn't feel rushed. The shampoo was still relaxing and felt amazing. She was very warm and friendly and we even shared info as 2 business owners. The blowout itself was gorgeous and lasted great. I booked a Devacurl with Rossette, when I called to book and asked about pricing, they said it's $70 for a regular cut but a deva cut is $125. I paid $50 deposit and I booked based on that, went in and rossette told me she wants to do another cut on my hair because of the way my curls are, I agreed because she's the expert, what she did is used a shearing scissors to debulk a few areas, she cut about 4-5 strands dry, then she washed my hair, did a very regular wet hair trimming. As I walked out they charged the remaking $75 of the Devacurl that wasn't done. I didn't realize until 3 days after that I was charged $125 for a regular cut. I thought this must have been a mistake the front desk didn't realize that I didn't have a deva cut. When I called, Rossette told her to tell me that she did a "SEMI- deva cut" and that it was a difficult cut so if I came in another day for a cut that is not a"Devacurl" she would charge me the same thing!!!!!! I had a very regular hair cut with a very old shearing technique that they use in every kids salon, my hair has regular curls, not "difficult" a bit, I have had a deva cut before and it's nothing compared. I'm disappointed and I won't go back again read more

If you cancel here don't expect to get any form of sympathy from the staff or manager! I only went there once and I saw Nikki and she did a great job she corrected a haircut for me and she gave me awesome tips and she was very very great unfortunately, for my next apt I had to cancel a month later because I was in the hospital and she had said OK no problem usually the staff is really good about that but no problem. I had thought well she's very kind thank you for understanding Well, recently I again had an appointment with her booked and had to cancel again ( which I did a week prior to the apt.) due to a death in the family. Well the night before my apt she messaged me like I'm coming in... And I said " I canceled the week prior due to the circumstances." She said " she got no word of this and that she could no longer take me on as a client, because I had two booking cancellations with her for a three hour gap because of how long my hair takes to do." I personally don't think that's very fair to me as a client she saw once and given the circumstances I've never been treated with so much disrespect. So I decided to call the manager and spoke to her, her name is Jan and she proceeded to be a little bit more kinder until she tried to get me off the phone after I tried explaining myself wondering why she couldn't take me on as a client and she explained to me that that is Nikki's choice, so then I asked if I could see someone else and she said she would have to get back to me and she said IF she could find somebody for me she would then get back to me???! What do you mean? If you can find someone for me or who will take me!? I think this is by far the first time I have ever been turned away by a salon, for business... I am extremely frustrated and upset that, that's how they handled that. I wouldn't recommend this salon at all, unless you never cancel due to personal matters or at all. Erika has done my hair for years and everytime it turns out just as awesome as the first! Getting blonde highlights right every time isn't always easy but she has it mastered.
