Very rude service from employee when just trying to contact when are they coming to pick up dehumidifier. Also apparently when bringing in dehumidifier they spilled some water that apparently must have been left in the machine and used my personal towel to cleanup mess and tried to hide the fact. Very disappointing experience. Communication was poor throughout the project. I rarely knew when they were coming or what the timeline looked like unless I asked. The biggest issue is that they damaged a custom cabinet during removal and were unable to match it when replacing it. Their first attempt was a plywood cabinet that looked nothing like the surrounding cabinetry. The second attempt used solid wood but still didn't match. They eventually brought in another cabinet maker and got closer, but the replacement still very obviously does not match the rest of my kitchen. Now I will have to hire another company to redo the work to get a proper match. Their solution was offering 20% off the invoice, which doesn't come close to covering the cost of fixing the problem. If you're installing all new cabinets from a wholesaler, their work might be fine. But if you have custom or high-end cabinetry that needs to match, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. read more

Very pleased with the level of service and professionalism. As a homeowner who has to rely on skilled repair professionals from time to time, it can be an infuriating processing. The search for trusted work, time and price negotiations, having people in your personal space for sometimes days, weeks or months at a time is exhausting. But Cutting Edge made it easy, efficient and cost effective. No kidding: How are they making ends meet! I was impressed by the level of skill and professionalism received for the cost (inbox me if you want specific details or tips, as I do not post public details about project costs). We worked primarily with Larry and Jorge. The job at hand (fixing a leak, which came with some balcony, stucco and trim work) was a bit of an anomaly because of the multi-level approach needed for the job. This wasn't a one and done, and turned out we needed different types of expertise for the job. It was hard to find a trusted company and crew willing to go in on the job. We talked to three other companies total. Yes, three others. Then, in comes Larry with all his solutions and good recommendations, including a suggestion for a subcontractor we ended up hiring for phase I of this two-phase project. All he needed was patience because, goodness, it this project was quite involved and ended up taking a couple of months. But he had it handled with. It was not a big project for a major repair company, but a big project, complex project for a homeowner. But never did Larry make us feel like the project was beneath him and his team. So, yes: Larry and Jorge were both very patient, highly communicative and easy to work with. They built trust early on. They talked things through (even though text, which I appreciated), addressed hiccups in the process with ease and without creating more problems, and were highly professional. Plus, and this is huge, they left the house clean of debris and tools. The team was also careful to cover our household items very well. Still haven't found a spec of paint anywhere after a pretty involved painting job to close the project. I cannot tell you how many times in my years of homeownership that professionals vacate a project leaving trash and tools behind. Plus, the quote for the job came below two of the three other companies we pursued (we actually considered going with one of those companies but two things changed our mind: 1. Larry's level of professionalism, communication and solutions orientation and 2. That other company's lead actually encouraged us to go with Cutting Edge). I would hire Cutting Edge again. read more

One thing to add that doesn't directly have to do with Cutting Edge: should you need a packout of your household items, **DO NOT** allow them to refer you to 1-800-PACKOUTS. I am currently one week out from project completion and am still not moved back home because 1-800-PACKOUTS was not honest with my insurance company about the packout amount, and since the final amount is more than what was agreed upon, I can't pay it and therefore they are refusing to move my household items back. My insurance adjuster also told me every time he's had to work with them it's been an absolute headache. This will help you find out how honest/dishonest the people you're dealing with. Like some of the other reviews, we were referred to this company by the plumber who did work because of the leakage. I wish I researched first. Now, here's our experience with photos. 1. Unprofessional. The quality of work doesnt live up to their tagline "Expert Service With Integrity." We let the workers be and stayed in the kitchen, me and my mom. They were playing music/song on the phone, laughing, and can hear videos being played. 2. One worked with paint in the garage and didn't put something to protect the floor. Used the hose and left a mess. Paint smears in the garage. I have to put cardboard boxes on that spot so when they come back next day it's protected just in case they'll work with paints again. 3. Appears as if they weren't briefed on what work to do. They painted half of our living room. Who would like a half painted wall? My mom even told the guys we were expecting the whole wall to be painted as we were told and understood it. Sent photo to Jose and he stopped by and look at it. Guys came back to paint the other half. I even felt like we were asking for a favor. But when we got a copy of the work order, it says there that ALL WALLS to be painted FOR A UNIFORM LOOK. How hard is it to brief the guys on what to paint? 4. We discovered one of them unplugged the washer/dryer and used the outlet because the washer/dryer wouldn't work. A "Can I unplug your washer/dryer so I can use the outlet?" would be appreciated. Or "Is there an outlet we can use?" Simple things like this will be appreciated by clients. Happy clients means more referrals. Business. There were even sawdust left in there which I took photo. 5. Said they were done working in the bathroom. When they didn't even did the caulking. They even have to be told to do it. I told the manager and I was told the guys will look at it when they come paint the other half of the wall. Guys came back, we were just observing. Again, didn't put anything to protect the floor/tiles where he put the paint. My dad did. They were ready to head outside, no clue at all that they will do the caulking or they were told about it so my dad told them. Only then they did the caulking. Still my dad even need to ask them to add more as what the guy put wasn't enough. With the vanity. It wasn't painted inside and outside. (See photo included if that looks painted to you). 6. Left mess in the bathtub. Didn't clean it after they were done painting. 7. Said they will be back to install wallpaper WHEN WALL WASN'T EVEN PRIMED. 8. We were told the allowance for the wallpaper is $1.10/sq.ft. If we select a more expensive wallpaper we'll have to pay the difference. Guess what? The allowance is $2.91/sq.ft. I told the manager if we, the client will get the wallpaper, we have to deduct the amount we are going to spend. He didn't say anything. We even went through the trouble of going to a store as he asked, checking online, making phone calls for wallpaper. Opposite to what we were initially told that someone will come to let us choose a wallpaper. While it says on paper that they'll provide the materials. We're prolly the first client they will work with asking for a wallpaper as it appears they don't know that the store they referred us to doesn't carry wallpapers. So with what we discovered on what's with the work order, we wish we didn't get this people to do the restoration job. 9. Other things we found on the work order that shouldn't even be there like doorbell. Seriously? In the bathroom? 10. Only heard from them today after over a month because my brother made a call at their office. But no. We don't want anything to do with these people again. Don't be like us. Read the reviews first. From the get-go, I was shuffled around between different people and changing of project managers. The slowness in response, and the communication between me, and the company was dismal. We had some water damage in a carpeted room so we called to get help. Daniel from the remediation team was nice and even helped walk me through filing a home insurance claim since this was my first time dealing with a situation like this. Daniel can be a bit hard to get a hold of, particularly through texts, but the water damaged areas were fixed quickly once we were able to schedule it. After that we were assigned Larry Ingramm as the project manager for reconstruction and I have nothing but praise for him. He is great at communicating, knowledgeable about the products and services, incredibly patient when we had a hard time making decisions, and went above and beyond every time we asked for help or clarification. We were so lucky to have him as our first project manager! At the beginning of the reconstruction project, there was a lot of stressful miscommunication between myself, the remediation department and home insurance with regard to where payments were being allocated and Larry helped clear a lot of that up. Our project has since been passed on to a different person due to time and resource constraints but Larry immediately worked on getting the new PM up to date on the whole situation so there wouldn't be any miscommunications. Larry left such a good impression that we felt the need to praise his work even though we haven't completed our reconstruction project yet. Things are also looking good with the new project manager Junior. He got in touch with me immediately after the project was transferred to him and has been very respectful. I had one question about a procedure and he answered so clearly and succinctly that I was floored. I really think it's the first time anyone I've ever worked with at a business level that has answered one of my questions that clearly. From just that one answer, I'm quite impressed and no longer apprehensive about this project moving forward. If only everyone was a Larry or Junior, life would be so stress free! I am excited to get our reconstruction project underway and would definitely call on these two again if needed. The remediation portion of my experience gets a 3.8 stars since I wasted a lot of time figuring out the ropes when both my home insurance and Cutting Edge could have been clearer about who should pay remediation (hint - home insurance typically pays remediation directly, and the customer only starts paying when reconstruction starts). We used Cutting Edge to renovate after a leaky pipe left water damage on our wall and ceiling. They reconstructed and retextured the ceiling and wall, and painted the entire ceiling to make sure everything looked uniform. Jose, the General Manager, was very easy to work with and was clear in communicating scope of work and timeline. They even finished the work early! I had water damage in the kitchen due to a busted pipe. Cutting Edge did the repairs and I would like to give credit to the workers who did the actual work. But for the management they need to improve a couple things. 1. Lack of communication. They need to have a plan laid out to the customer, they need to provide updates on a weekly basis. What happened to me is I dont even know when the workers will show up, sometimes they only work 1 or 2 days in a week. I keep on messaging the main office asking them if somebody will work in my house on that day. It should not be the customer asking for the update. 2. Sub contractors show up un-prepapared. They show up to my house at 830 in the morning and they dont have the materials needed this happened numerous times, this is a failure of the project manager. They will ask me that they need to go to Home Depot to buy materials, completely UNSAT. Also the plumber punched a hole on the stucco and did not inform anybody, they have been working on the interior of the house and the stucco outside is still open! They fixed it after a month when I told them that there is still a hole. Also the sub contractor dont exactly know what to do, I ask them about the project and the response is . 3. Very poor communication. This company was recommended by our plumber to mitigate damage caused by water. They came on a Friday and installed fans to minimize damage/mold growth. They returned on Monday and started to assess the damages and begin demolition of the affected drywall areas. Junior, who happens to be low man on the pecking pole, was very helpful. He was very informative about his processes. However, I cannot say the same about the other employees, Daniel and Jose. They never returned my calls. After 6 weeks, Jose calls and asks when he can begin the restoration. WTH? Six weeks later. $50k worth of damage! So if you don't mind a lack of communication and huge delays, give them a call. read more

My hot water heater pipe behind the drywall had a pinhole leak which made all the drywall wet and leaked into the bathroom on the other side. Cutting Edge was good in both the emergency services as well as the restoration part. Cory, Dan and Edward were all very friendly and good to work with. Good communication, very patient with all my questions, offered advice beyond the job some of which I took to reduce the chance for future leaks. This began in early May. Photos are from today July 26. I was naive about the whole process of abatement, restoration and dealing with insurance after my 90 year old mom had a water leak in her kitchen. I put my trust in the person who handled the drying and abatement part of the job thinking he was there to handle it from beginning to end. From our initial meeting, he reassured us that insurance would replace the drywall that was soaked from the water leak. In addition, he said that insurance is obligated to restore the kitchen back to its original condition and even unaffected areas will be restored if any sort of continuity in aesthetics is compromised. He gave me the impression he was going to handle my insurance and my project from beginning to end and said I could call anytime, 24/7. Turns out he had only a portion of the water damaged wall removed. He kept the part with the backsplash intact despite his reassurance it would be removed and replaced. I was hesitant due to having a high deductible, but I wanted it done right with no worries about future issues with asbestos, mold etc. so I went ahead and put my trust in him to take care of my mom. So I move forward with Cutting Edge and this is what is considered 'restore to pre-loss condition?' : leave middle of previously soaked asbestos laden 43 year old wall intact? Remove only wall above and below? After my mom's kitchen was torn apart, and realized that the very section that was water damaged was to remain intact, I was shocked. I asked why this made sense. He then had the audacity to suggest it was upon my request that we leave this part of the wall in place. On top of that lie, he claims he never said the wall needed to be replaced. I don't appreciate being gaslighted and slandered. His behavior was appalling, disappointing and shocking. I really trusted this person. We feel betrayed and misled. I put my faith in Cutting Edge because of him. To add to my frustration, at 5 am this morning it was raining so I went over to my mom's house immediately to make sure water was not getting into the house. Then I remembered they had left the cabinets outside on the patio. I hauled all of them into the garage to prevent water damage. Right before Memorial Day weekend, I was sent to the restoration team and was at the mercy of the Cutting Edge adjuster/project manager to get something, anything ,started. Around mid June, I took the morning off from work to meet to discuss a plan after I called him the *previous* week to push on getting started. I waited a week for this appointment. I get to my mom's house and wait 20 minutes. I call him. He says he got the time wrong. No apology. We agree to meet the next day, on Friday. He calls me 1 hour before and asks me to meet him at the cabinet store. I said it made more sense to formulate a plan at the house as to how the kitchen was to be restored; not the time to pick out cabinets which by the way insurance would not replace, only put back. He stopped by and I went away hopeful that progress was to be made. We seemed to have a plan. He says we will talk early next week. Monday. Nothing. Tuesday. No word. I call Wednesday. He says he didn't have a chance to go over what we discussed last week. Another two weeks go by. He promises we will move forward. Still the same;holes in my exterior wall, exposed copper pipes. No insulation. He then promises me he will get the drywall guy out; I call next week; promises me again, and he will get on his case if he doesn't show up. I joke that so will I. It was at this time I asked when the rest of the drywall would come down. He said it wasn't part of the plan. Whaaatt??? That was the last straw. I'm now with a other company but they said his estimate left out a lot of items. And so we are dealing with insurance again. Back to square one. It is now July 26th. Also...*never* go with a company when your plumber makes the call to them himself on your behalf. read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this company. We recently had a cracked sewer pipe at our rental property in North Park. It was a old cast iron pipe that cracked a fairly long distance underneath the main house and leaked sewage into the crawl space. Sleiman came out immediately. He even left his company planning meeting early because he knew that it was urgent for us and our tenants. While we were waiting for our plumber from California Plumbing (also a FANTASTIC company), he went underneath the house. He came out, gave us a good understanding of the length of the crack, where the sewage was coming from and what it was going to take to clean it up. He has such a warm presence and took the time to really explain each step in the process. He put my tenant at ease and honestly, alleviated a lot of my worry over safety. He went out to his truck, wrote up a very detailed quote and came back to review it with us. There was no pressure, no sneaky "add ons." He gave me every confidence that the clean up was going to be properly done and safely for both his guys and our tenants. On the scheduling front, I worked with Reina from their office and she's truly wonderful. She kept in kept the entire time, from Sleiman's arrival to letting us know that the work had been completed. Poor company structure and horrible communication! This company is great at first when you meet and start work. Not sure what happen with the service and them just not wanting to respond. However we had an insurance claim and we're going to use them for the rebuild however Tom gave us a price to rebuild which included materials and labor but when we told them that we will purchase material they went Ghost! He never got back to us with the new estimate. We told them we had the material already and just need the price for labor and they didn't want to revise the estimate or respond to us anymore. My dad called and text and left voicemails with Tom asking for the price. I emailed Tom and Gabriela and they no longer responded to any emails or returned any calls. I thought that was very unprofessional, unfair and kept us waiting with no kitchen and thats 20 days of waiting for a estimate that they never received. Raul and Cutting Edge restoration were absolute life savers when my crawl space flooded. Raul was at my property within 30 minutes and stayed until 3am pumping the water out, putting in fans, checking moisture levels. Raul is professional and knows what he's doing.
