a kitchen island in a home
    Danielle M.

The stars aligned for me the day I was referred to Craft Cabinetry. I purchased cabinets through IKEA before connecting with them. Once I received the initial plans from IKEA, I reached out for a quote. Royal and John were very quick to come out and provide me a bid on my project. After meeting them, I instantly knew I could trust them with my home renovation and they did not disappoint. Royal went above and beyond helping me redesign my kitchen island to fit better between a load bearing arch in the kitchen. He custom made cabinets for the island so the design would be more seamless. Before I knew it, my dream kitchen was complete thanks to the efficiency of Jeremy and Royal. John then came back to finish my appliance installations, and installed the hood above the stove, and various other projects I had going on. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the outcome and value of their services. If I were to do it again, I would choose Craft Cabinetry over and over. Thank you guys for taking such good care of me!

I am long overdue in adding my review. In July I was in the midst of a time sensitive buildout for my new office space in Bankers Hill. Part of my build called for about 200 linear feet of Cabinets in 3 different rooms I began using the room planning tools available at IKEA. It was a convenient resource for this project: as every piece was added to my design I could see the cost and make changes as needed. Everything was running smoothly. The buildout was progressing to perfectly coincide with my final touches that were being made to the cabinetry design. I purchased my nearly $14000 in cabinets from IKEA and was ready to schedule the installation that had previously been bid through the IKEA installer. Then everything ground to a halt! They could not begin my installation for nearly 5 weeks!!! The flooring could not be installed until the cabinetry was complete. I thought "No problem. I'll find someone else to do it!" As I began calling around and asking advice from the numerous contractors and builders I was working with the stark realization was made that I was in a really bad spot. Few people were willing to work with the IKEA cabinets and those that were open to it were prohibitively expensive or overbooked. As a last ditch effort I took a look on Craigs List and found Craft Cabinetry. I sent a message and within minutes Royal called me back. He explained that he and his partner have extensive experience with IKEA cabinets and asked me to send over the plans I created using the IKEA room planner. I did, Jeremy Craft followed up the following morning with a few clarifications to my plans. I explained that I was in a big time crunch and really needed help from someone responsible and capable. They sent me a really competitive bid which I accepted with the caveat that they could start within the next 4 days. They worked with their other clients and agreed to get to work the next day!!! I was ecstatic. They were on site on time and ready to get right to work. They inventoried the huge pile of pieces delivered by IKEA days before and helped me to resolve any missing items. They completed my installation more quickly than the IKEA team was able to and even finished a half day earlier than they promised! Beyond their great work and organization Royal and Jeremy are just really nice guys. I highly recommend them for your project!

Our huge island (temporary plywood as a countertop, will be replaced in our 'phase 2'). GORGEOUS! (Dog not included)

Ask the Community - Craft Cabinetry Installation

Im getting a new 48" rangetop. IKEA does not sell 48" wide base cabinets. Is it possible to get 2- 24" and have it modified the top to accommodate 48" rangetop? Or is this something you have to custom make?

That would work with 2-24” and some customization.

I cannot stress enough how much of a mistake it was to choose San Diego Custom Cabinets for our kitchen cabinets on an Encinitas project. The workmanship is absolutely appalling (bad). The cabinets started showing signs of wear and tear within just a year. Some panels (dishwasher) corroded and started peeling. The gaps between panels were uneven and unsightly at time of build but especially over time became worse, and to top it all off, the cabinets have actually changed color over time, going from a dark brown (walnut) to a tiger orange. It's obvious all materials were of the cheapest and lowest quality, but beyond that the company's response to these issues was to push back and simply state the warranty period had expired. I should add, it was not only the faces of the cabinets that failed miserably, but the boxes were poorly constructed, including cheap/failing hardware (like the trash pull out which constantly fails (hardware becomes loose and needs to be manually tightened monthly). At this point, we've had no choice but to demolish the entire cabinetry system. We have incurred massive costs (since prices have dramatically changed) and our clients are displaced during this demo period. I'm beyond disappointed with this purchase and this company and would strongly advise anyone considering this company to look elsewhere. As a company and brand, we will not be working with SD Custom Cabinets in the future. We will not be endorsing them. And if actual or prospective clients ask for our vote of confidence or recommendation, we will point them to this review.

We also met with two other local/national companies to back up our ultimate decision. One of those was easy to let go of - the person who visited our house had strange personal habits and felt comfortable sitting on our bed and brushing pencil eraser bits onto our pillows. The second one came really close, and it was a hard final decision. They offered a different approach than Tailored and there were strong points to both. In the end, the connection we made with the designer, Nick, and his willingness to dive into the challenge, won us over. With our input, he came up with really great custom concepts including an entryway closet that had a couple elements that they don't typically do. One was an area where mail could drop from the mail slot, and the other was slide out shoe trays. We still look at those and smile. The on-site installers were great. The lead installer Cassidy was our main point of contact and did a great job. We'd done some other renovation prior to the closets, and our expectations for communication were formed by those other contractors. He was respectful throughout the install, patient with our questions, and always let us know what to expect. Personally, I also appreciated the way he worked with the other installers, too. He looked like a good mentor for the others. Kudos to him and the rest of the team, Luis, Kevin and Ismael. I'll be surprised if Luis isn't in a leadership role there soon! The installation was so professionally done, with plumb walls and level shelves, that it revealed how unlevel our flooring is. When that left some gaps, the company recommended a solution to mask that without changing the original design. Cassidy came back out, assisted by Victor, and made those updates in just a few hours. Overall, this was a great experience, and we recommend the company.

Unfortunately, things began to fall apart shortly before finalizing my cabinet order. My final renderings were never properly completed. One entire room was missing from the plans, and major updates that were requested - including switching from frameless to framed cabinets (which affects cabinet sizing) - were never reflected in the drawings. It became very difficult to get in touch with anyone to finalize the order or receive updated plans. Eventually I went into the store in person, where Liad offered to "fix and finalize" everything on the spot. He manually drew out the new layout and entered the order on his phone, assuring us he was taking care of everything. However, no formal layout, purchase order, item list, cabinet sizes, or updated renderings were ever provided. I was told we could rely on the existing renderings and that getting formal updates from the designers would take too long. After paying, we heard nothing until my contractor informed me that cabinet boxes were being delivered. The delivery arrived without any paperwork, purchase order, or layout for my contractor and cabinet installer to reference. Once installation began, we discovered multiple issues: missing items, incorrect cabinet sizes, missing panels, and accessories that were the wrong size. Trying to resolve these problems was extremely frustrating. It was again difficult to reach Liad until we went back into the store. He repeatedly asked us to provide a list of what needed to be fixed, but that was difficult because we were never given a purchase order or layout showing what was actually ordered. What stood out most was the change in demeanor. Conversations that were initially helpful became defensive and dismissive. At one point he even questioned whether our installers "knew what they were doing," and suggested modifying cabinets to make incorrectly sized accessories fit instead of addressing the ordering mistakes. At this point I have had to purchase replacement panels, shelves, and accessories out of pocket from another cabinet store just to keep the project moving. Both my contractor and cabinet installer -- as well as staff at the other cabinet supplier -- were shocked by the experience and confirmed that this is not how a cabinet ordering process should work. My advice if you choose to work with this company is to triple-check everything and get all documentation in writing before paying. Make sure you receive final drawings, a purchase order, item numbers, and cabinet dimensions. It's unfortunate to have such a stressful experience during what should be an exciting part of a home remodel. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this business. There are many other cabinet suppliers that provide clearer communication and proper documentation.

From the very beginning, the design process was smooth and inspiring. The 3-D renderings and final results turned out shockingly close to what we had envisioned--such a great feeling to see our ideas come to life so accurately. During the measurement stage, the Wholesale Cabinets team came out in person, carefully calculated dimensions, and even accommodated my request to include cabinetry beyond the kitchen. In total, we ended up with kitchen cabinets, fireplace cabinetry for two desk,a pantry cabinets, laundry room cabinets, and linen storage. Their willingness to adapt to our scope really stood out. Fitment We chose assembly (but not installation), and the cabinets arrived and was assembled on-site- ready for my GC to install. Overall, I'd say fitment was about 95%, which is excellent. A few minor adjustments were needed, especially around appliance areas like the microwave, cooktop, and built-in oven--but nothing overly complex or unexpected. Everywhere else, the cabinets fit beautifully with little to no modification, which made the process much smoother. Quality The blue finish is stunning, and the cabinets look and feel high-quality. With the hardware, the look really pops. Each piece felt durable in hand--not flimsy or brittle at all. Even after handling them a bit roughly during installation, they showed little to no scratching. That gave me confidence that these cabinets will hold up well over time. Customer Support I ended up needing customer support more often than expected, but every interaction was positive. Responses always came quickly--usually within the same day--and each issue was met with a solution that went above and beyond what I expected. At times, I even received text updates, which I truly appreciated. Yes, a couple of delivery dates had to be shifted, but honestly, for a three-month project, waiting a few extra days wasn't a dealbreaker. In fact, the consistent communication helped make those delays much easier to accept. Overall My project isn't completely finished yet, but I can already say I'm thrilled with the results. The cabinets look amazing, the quality is solid, and the customer service has been dependable and supportive. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Wholesale Cabinets to anyone starting their remodel journey.
