Avoid at All Costs: rude, unprofessional, defensive and possibly misogynistic/racist! We've worked with many contractors over the years and this was by far the worst experience. From the beginning, Alex Senko was defensive and condescending. At one point, I asked politely about a price adjustment after he informed us he would no longer be removing the baseboards, a task that is standard for flooring installation and takes over an hour to do. Any flooring professional would know this labor is typically factored into the estimate. I brought it up calmly and respectfully, but when he called me back, the first thing he said, very aggressively, was "Are you trying to squeeze me or ask for a discount?" It was completely uncalled for and shocking, especially given how civil the conversation had been up to that point. We also asked a few follow-up questions because his communication was often unclear. Instead of clarifying, he snapped that he "doesn't have time to micromanage and that we were wasting his time". But we were not micromanaging, we were just trying to make informed decisions for a project we were paying for. What made this even more unsettling is that I couldn't help but question whether his aggressive behavior was rooted in misogyny or possibly racism. As a woman of color, being spoken to that harshly, that quickly, by a white man was deeply uncomfortable and raised some serious red flags. This was the rudest and most unprofessional contractor we have ever encountered. If you value respectful communication, transparency, and basic professionalism, I strongly recommend hiring someone else. UPDATE- I received a public response from Alex S. attempting to appear apologetic and professional -- but let's be honest, it doesn't reflect the reality of how he conducts himself. His message reads like a copy-paste template meant to save reputation, not make things right. At no point during our project did he show the kind of respect, communication, or professionalism he now claims to value. In fact, my experience was marked by dismissiveness, unprofessional behavior, and underlying misogynistic and racist undertones that were impossible to ignore. If he truly cared about resolving the issue, that would've been reflected in how he treated me during the project -- not months later after a bad review. So, I asked him to help install some shelves in my kitchen. It was a straightforward yet unique job, because the walls in my house are all uneven. He offered a reasonable price and completed the job the very next day! While he was working, I was getting quotes for my bathroom remodel - having no clue his team could do that as well. Alex is extremely experienced with TV mounting and furniture assembly. He responded right away to my quote request to mount a 65" TV over a real fireplace with a full-motion mount and also assemble two pieces of living room furniture. His quote was very reasonable and he was very accommodating with scheduling. I had to cancel and reschedule our original appointment time because the delivery of our new TV got delayed, and he was very understanding. He confirmed our appointment the day before and texted when he was on his way, which I appreciated. He was punctual, polite, wore shoe covers and brought floor protector mats. He was also very nice to my two "helper" dogs who sometimes got in his way. (Bonus points always given if you're nice to my dogs.) Most importantly, the quality of Alex's work was excellent. He had no trouble at all mounting the 65" TV by himself or assembling the console or sofa table. He was careful to use special anchor hardware for the TV, as my wall studs were not super accessible. He managed to complete all three tasks in just over 3 hours - incredible! Several reviews of furniture pieces mentioned difficult assembly that took multiple people 2+ hours per piece. Alex came out to our house with many tasks and completed them quickly and with super high-quality. He even saved me money on a living room TV mount that I was envisioning including running cables through the wall. As it turns out, he had a great solution (we rent so this was non-destructive) by running them through some cable coverings that look great (see photos). He also mounted a sound bar and tv in my loft / home office (also pictured) and in all, mounted 5 TVs at $90 per TV for an incredible value. The thing that was best about working with Alex was that he was very friendly, had a strong attention to detail when it came to centering and leveling (if a TV is not level or centered, it can drive ya crazy). We had just completed a move and he also helped to secure some shelves against the wall and drill in some screws into a storage unit we were putting together. He did all this with a smile on his face, very professional and just an all around great experience. I hired this company to replace some baseboards in my condo. They were great. They bought the new baseboards, painted them and installed them for a great price. The handyman, Alex, made a mistake when cutting one of the baseboards so he went out and bought replacement and never charged me for the new materials. He had to send a co worker out to finish the project the next day because he had committed to another one and called to make sure the workmanship was to my liking. A few things he missed and Alex came out the following day to make sure I was completely satisfied with his work. Very professional, polite and proud of his workmanship and customer satisfaction. I asked for help repairing the trim on the outside of my house. It was a small job, but Alex fit in the different steps when he could in between and it ended up looking amazing and getting done a week sooner than I could find anyone else to start on it. I tried to get Alex to do something a specific way because I was told that was the way to do it by another person who gave me a bid on the same job. Alex then actually explained the building code and why it was more important to put the replacement board in at an angle to give the water a place to go that was away from the problem area rather than just replace the board in the way that caused the problem originally. It's rare that I'm surprised by someone having such an *obviously* better and a cheaper solution to a problem. Apparently, he used to be a full contractor in the Ukraine before he moved here, so the quality of the work he does is exceptional. He's about to become a full contractor here as well, which is why he actually knew the local building codes, which was... humbling. I'd 100% recommend hiring him while he's still doing his own work.
