The El Camino CVS is best of the CVS stores in SLO county. The pharmacists and staff have always been friendly , knowledgeable and caring. The store staff greets you with a sincere hello and always willing to help you find what you need. I wouldn't travel the 35 miles to the store if they weren't that wonderful!! I'm always amazed at their willingness to go above and beyond for me to help out! Today, I was bummed to find out one of my medications had been increased to 50 dollars. The gal behind the counter took out her phone and found a coupon for me that lowered t to 10 dollars permanently! They're also amazing at dealing with my doctors office (which is the WORST) and have gone to bat for me a few times. I won't go to any other pharmacy! Thanks, CVS crew! I have never had any experience in there, in any department, where the employees were anything except snippy to downright rude. The one in Pismo Beach is great, so this store must just have poor management. There is one in the pharmacy who should just be fired. I had my doctor call her and she denied everything she said to me. Terrible place. Tried to print some photos there too. Couldn't get help - said I was on my own. read more

I went to get my prescription filled and my insurance company only authorized two fills however your pharmacy did not notify me of that so I was instructed to transfer my prescription. I called and had my prescription transferred. I went to other pharmacy to pick up my prescription but it never got transferred so i had to go back to cvs and deal with a pharmacy tech named IVY. Her attitude towards me was terrible. She basically belittled me in front of customers and my family. She was blatantly rude and treated me very poorly saying she knew the system better than me and that i did not know what i was talking about She failed to contact the walgreens to transfer my prescription and as a result i had to spend half my day dealing with my prescription being transferred as a result of her negligence to do her job. I have never been treated so poorly by anyone servicing the public. I will never go here again! read more

**************************************** DO NOT USE THIS PHARMACY!! **************************************** The pharmacist and cashiers at this pharmacy treat people badly. They don't check their voicemail for prescriptions, so if you are sick and urgently need medication, even if your doctor has called in your prescription it won't be there waiting. Then, once they finally do get around to filling your prescription (after you are waiting and sick), when they call your name they will make you wait to pay at the end of the line, behind a guy with a couple of gallons of ice cream because "he's been waiting for a while." I'm pretty sure a guy buying *ice cream* hasn't waited as long as somebody sitting there waiting on a prescription that this pharmacy hasn't filled because they do not check their voicemail regularly. After all that, if you are particularly unlucky, you might even get a lecture from them (while you are very ill!!) about how YOUR doctor shouldn't leave THEM voicemails for your prescriptions. Unacceptable. Without compassion and the ability to discern when a customer is very ill, one should not work at a pharmacy. The people at this pharmacy have neither. My recommendation to anyone in need of having a prescription filled: Go to one of the two other pharmacies in town. Maybe they will actually treat you like a human being instead of simply another sale. read more

Not pleased with staff here. Called to get pharmacy fax number to email to Dr. But they will not give it out. Was on hold for over 10 minutes talked to new employee who was not helpful then to MOD John C. Who insisted he could not give it out only to a doctor. It's a fax number for Pete's sake! I had a nightmare experience with the Rite Aid in Atascadero, but a positive aspect is that it made me appreciate CVS. When the people in the Rite Aid were worthless, I went as a last resort to the pharmacist at CVS in hopes that he would have some advice. I told him immediately that the prescription was at rite Aid but explained the situation and he was amazing. He listened and gave me advice, saving the day and honestly being a wonderful person. After a second horrid issue at Rite Aid, I am officially moving all of my fiance's prescriptions to this pharmacy. The pharmacist that took time out of his day to give advice to a stressed and upset girl, knowing he wouldn't make any money off of it is a big player in that. read more

I popped in around 2pm for one item. Store was pretty much empty so it seemed like a good time to get my flu shot. I sauntered up to the pharmacy drop-off counter. I asked the woman if I could get my flu shot. "Stand back a moment" she muttered. Ok, I provided my date of birth, full name & insurance card. Then she told me "go wait in line on isle 12 and by the time they call you up you can sign in." This is the pickup RX line. Good grief there were a dozen people waiting to get their prescription's. After several minutes with line not moving, I estimated this could take more time than I was willing to wait. Reminded me of the free clinic days but not as friendly. read more

on Monday I'm told by the pharmacist the carry travel vaccines,(pill types) just need a Rx, on Wednesday am told that they don't carry them. Be nice if they could agree. the phone staff had never heard of Yellow Fever and insisted I meant Typhoid and was too stubborn to ask.. read more

REVISED: (Prior rating 1 star) This pharmacy staff here has changed drastically for the better. The pharmacists are knowledgeable and approachable. The major culprits for my negative review in 2012 have moved on. This pharmacy is also very efficient, I don't believe I have waited in line over 5 minutes since returning. The front end staff are also good at their jobs. This is proof that sometimes a place needs a second chance, and I am glad with my decision to make them my primary pharmacy again. read more

My experience with CVS has been at 2 locations; one in S.F., and the CVS in Atascadero,CA. They are both glacially slow; even when dropping off a prescription, let alone, ugh, picking one up. While a few of the pharmacy staff are pleasant, (actually, I can only think of one), the rest are surly,unhelpful, and at times incompetent- (they sent me home with another person's scripts). Their website is another exercise in frustration; The site will say your prescription is ready for refill!- you get an e-mail confirming your pick-up time- you get there, and after waiting a minimum of half an hour/45 minutes- the sour person behind the counter says "Huh?- We have no record of this!" I am dumping this pharmacy as soon as humanly possible- I had to go there because of my lousy insurance (Expresscripts etc...) Unless you're a masochist and enjoy grinding your teeth, wasting time,gas,energy-avoid this pharmacy like the plague. read more

I was so upset with CVS this morning that I'm going to a different pharmacy now. I went in this morning to fill a prescription and the man pharmacist tells me that the medicine That my doctor ordered for me is so old that they don't carry it anymore. And that no CVS in the county would have it either. I asked him is there an alternative medicine that you might carry that would work for my condition so that I can call my doctor and get a substitute. He had no alternatives or suggestions. I then got on the phone and called my doctor and asked for an alternative medication. I was told that I would have to come back through the emergency room to have one written. So then I called Sierra Vista pharmacy, and ask them if they dispense the medication from their pharmacy. They told me yes they do and that it was very strange that CVS said that they don't carry that medicine because it's a very common medicine that is used especially for men getting prostate resections. This pharmacy never goes above and beyond at all to help you. In fact they make you feel like you're wasting their time when you ask them questions. I'm absolutely done with CVS in Atascadero they're horrible! read more

If I could give a fraction star I would. Atascadero CVS (Pharmacy) Staff are rude, incompetence, disrespectful. The Pharmacy has NOT HAD IN STOCK three of my last prescriptions, meds I get every month. My nerve pain medication I called in on a Monday, they said it should be ready Thursday. When I went to pick it up they had no knowledge of the order. I was out for seven days, that time.! My pain medication I cannot submit until I'm out completely. Again out of stock for the third time. Their answer, "go somewhere else" You cannot just stop taking a medication without having dire effects and circumstances. I've had a stoke and my heart is not that good. Stopping a med could be serious. Once while waiting 45 minutes in line, I witnessed the store manager step over trash on the floor while heading to the bathroom after a complaint. This store has gone downhill ever since it changed hands. Empty shelves. Store items all in disarray, trash and dirt on the floors. Filth buildup. Looks like they haven't vacuumed or cleaned, ever. Bathrooms are gross. I've asked if they were going out of business or are broke...they just don't care. If you cannot run a store effectively and efficiently give it to someone who can, please. read more
