Healthcare in this country is a new circle of hell, and it takes a team of ridiculously dedicated pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to make it even a passable experience. That's who these people are--Joel and his team create a local neighborhood feeling in a CVS pharmacy, of all places. I live in Oakland, this pharmacy is 12 minutes away, and I make the drive once a month. This place is worth it. Believe me. read more

Let's face it--coordinating prescriptions and insurance coverage/approval can be a nightmare and it only seems to be getting worse (looking at you, HealthNet!) But the main pharmacist here, Joel, and his small team are genuinely concerned, caring, attentive, and helpful. They're understaffed a lot of the time (not their fault) and asked to do things that are not in their job description. But I feel like Joel actually cares and tries so hard to make things work when the bureaucracy of dealing with doctor's offices/insurance/prescriptions seems impossible. Worst pharmacy EVER.. Waited for days to get my prescription.. to finally be told they can't dispense my prescription because my doctor office is in Santa Monica.. ask the Sean (manager pharmacist) to cancel my prescription in order to get my prescription dispensed somewhere else.. I love my pharmacy ! I recently had to switch over as the previous wait for prescription fills could take as long as 2 months? This place will have it ready within a day and they are open on weekends and into the early evenings. Plenty of parking and the staff are very helpful and kind! read more

Very bad customer service. The store is really nice but unfortunately the workers at this pharmacy clearly lack of training. I recognized this lady that used to work at a Walgreens pharmacy at Gilman St. She is very unprofessional; I think that she doesn't clearly understand the service that she is supposed to provide. Today, I saw her sarcastically laughing at this elderly person that was picking up her medicine. I had to stare at her face for a few second for her to stop laughing, very sad experience that is not easy to describe with words. Sadly, it is not the first time that I noticed her wrong behavior at CVS and Walgreens. read more

Rarely do CVS pharmacies get good ratings, but this one stands out above the rest. Customer service has been consistently good and they have gone out of their way to help me navigate prescription approval over the phone. read more

I received a text that my prescription was ready and headed over about 1:30 or so. Upon walking up I was greeted with looks of annoyance and advised that they were on lunch (there were three visible employees.) the man who I assume is charge asked if I was picking up but didn't seem to care so another person stepped in offering to help which she did. The full prescription was t ready so I advised I'd return later if possible to which the same man replied we should have it in stock. The entire interaction was so awkward and uncomfortable. Like I get that it was your 'lunch' but what does that have to do with me. Close the awning and keep the Bezerkekey attitude to yourself. I switched pharmacies bc honestly who needs that read more

I have found the people working at this pharmacy to be extremely helpful, supportive, accommodating, and quick to fill a prescription on the spot. They have even helped me identify the proper way to get my insurance to cover a medication I need that is being denied. I have appreciated their expertise and consideration. I have used many pharmacies in many cities and this one has been a particularly outstanding one. read more

Oh man what a sad experience I had at this cvs inside my local target. Purple haired manager guy was seriously passive aggressive on the phone. I figured it was a series of misunderstandings so later in the day I went into the pharmacy to talk in person and try to de escalate the situation. Here is what I encountered. He spoke over me, just like on the phone, announced my medical condition loudly enough for all to hear, and gaslit me about our earlier interaction - completely changing the accuracy of my statements and the account of his unprofessional behavior. I tried to say "let's just agree to disagree" and maybe try to end it amicably, but he bugged out his eyes at me, stood his ground and acted crazier. I walked away while he continued to berate me from behind in front of my community. Yikes. Lol. Personally I can live with this but I feel sorry for any and all people that have to work with this human and interact with him on a daily basis. read more

Today I had a COVID booster at the CVS on University Ave. I've never had prescriptions filled here, so I can't speak for their service in general, but I can definitely speak to my experience getting boosters. On the positive side, there was no line and almost no wait time. On the negative side, the young man who helped me was clearly overburdened and impatient. He jabbed me so quickly and forcefully that my deltoid muscle twitched involuntarily. I don't knows what kind of training he had to be giving injections, but his technique left a lot to be desired (I'm a nurse). He did put a bandaid on the injection site but was in such a hurry he didn't notice that the bandaid was folded over. Given my experience, I would definitely suggest another CVS for boosters. read more

I really wanted to give this CVS a chance because it is within walking distance and so convenient but after watching the way several of the staff treat sick ppl coming to retrieve their medications, I've had enough. The uttter incompetance of the manager in particular, to not only lie and gaslight about the calls they make to say your meds are avail, but to then treat you like you are the problem when those meds aren't there, is inexcusable in a health care service. There is one Black guy that seems to be the only pharmacist that is competent, calm and caring, the rest of that crew is just rude, insensitive, inefficient and mean. I watched the manager? (youngish? asian lady) yell at a man who was clearly not understanding why he needed to jump through hoops to pick up meds for someone at home w/COVID. She literally repeated her same directives, only louder, while walking back to her desk and waving her hand at him. The man did nothing at all to deserve this, he was on the phone with someone who was trying to help him while the manager kept yelling at him from her desk by the window. Just an awful experience. There are many local pharmacists and compound pharmacies within walking distance of me, I do not need to deal with horrible ppl. read more

They don't know how to bill medical for the copay and expect me to pay it instead of figuring out how to do it

This staff at this pharmacy have always been helpful and friendly. They track my vaccination updates, break away from filling prescriptions if I need to get a vaccination and have superlative helping me sort out the medications that I need and when I can get them. Highly recommend. read more

This is a great pharmacy! For me it is walking distance, and I can even walk my dogs right in to pick up a prescription. Even getting a flu shot was hassle free and had minimum discomfort. Their team is always courteous. A+ read more

This CVS Pharmacy is by far my favorite of the options in the area. All of the staff members have been very kind and attentive to my needs. I come so frequently that it seems one of the pharmacists, Michelle, can recognise me to where I don't need to spell out my name every time I come. I also had a situation where I was missing one bottle of my medicines. As I needed it, I was willing to pay for the price of the medicine because the issue refilling it seemed to be that my insurance wouldn't allow a refill so soon. While I was offering to pay, Jimmy, one of the staff members of the pharmacy, got on the phone with the insurance company and asked to use some lost medicine contingency so that I wouldn't have to pay out of pocket. I've never seen such patience while discussing with an insurance robot. Jimmy really had my back that day and I appreciate it. Sarah is another member of staff who has helped me out with medication on more than one occasion. She's always been super friendly and able to find my medicines way more quickly than I've seen at other pharmacies. As I tend to have specific times I go pick up medicine, I'm sure I'm only seeing a subsection of the employees, however I've never had a bad experience at the pharmacy. Everyone has been very kind, understanding, and accommodating. Definitely my favorite CVS pharmacy. read more

On multiple occasions, they've called my partner telling her that a prescription is ready when they don't offer that medication to begin with. I don't know if it's incompetence or miscommunication, but these folks aren't capable of handling many prescriptions they receive. Not only that, but they will borderline gaslight you and say that they never called you to begin with. Upon asking our friends who've used the same pharmacy, we've heard very similar stories. They're polite in interacting with you, but there's a lot of other pharmacies nearby, don't waste your time here. read more
