*Updated Review* This is probably my least favorite CVS! They never have enough staff working and now a days, they lock everything up. You can ring the customer service button and will still be waiting for several minutes. There have been times I just walked out and left without getting what I needed. The pharmacy staff is horrible and lazy! I was the last person in line to get my medicine and I must've got there a minute or two late. They were helping a lady but turned to me and said the register is closed. I said to them that you were currently helping a lady so it can't be closed and if you could just please pass me my medication I will pay and be on my way. There was no one in the line behind me. The guy was rude and said no find a 24 hour CVS. You never know what people are going through. They could be fighting serious illnesses, and need their medicine. I wish the staff had a little bit of grace and caring but they don't. I will now take my medication to another pharmacy. I'm done with CVS. read more

The Pharmacist was not very friendly. I picked up my prescription the other day and i was just trying to ask a question and she was dismissive and seems like she didn't want to be there. And when she answered she passed it for someone else to do. She had a curly hair and no name tag so i cant even tell who she is. Sadly, this Pharmacy is not great at all. I've been to this location about 7 or 8 times and the majority of the time, the lines are long. A few times the pharmacist was rude to me and my last encounter with a rude pharmacist made me realize I should just stop going to this pharmacy. Can I leave 0 stars. Stand in the pharmacy line for pick up. She doesn't know what she's doing says I can't find anything... Sends me to the drop off line, they find it immediately and send me back to stand in line again at pick up. Not the first time, second time or even fourth time this has happened. I'm done, I'll drive farther. Now the covid test debacle, we don't have your online order, go to the drop off line.... We don't have your online order, go to the front check out.... I don't know what your talking about go back to the pharmacy. No, the pharmacy sent me here.... Throws 3 different kinds of tests on the counter and says what do you want but you have to take it back to pharmacy to pay.... Ma'am, our records show you already picked up your tests on Friday... No I did not. Ma'am someone picked it up for you... No, I'm divorced so they did not. Ma'am someone picked it up at 1 o'clock on Friday... I'm telling you, I don't know who you have it to but it was not me or a representative of me ‍ An hour later after the pharmacist has gotten smart and begins to patronize me explaining how the process works I reply well the situation is the same. I ordered test, I did NOT pick up the tests but now you're saying I can't get any because they've been picked up. Not by me!! The reply ... oh well I don't know what to tell you I could call a manager but we're under construction so I don't know where he is but if we had a manager he can review the tapes. Well don't you have a PA system, oh yeah, well call the man up cuz I can guarantee I nor anyone I know picked them up on Friday... Another half an hour, after the manager again explains the system to me and oh they just must be up front on hold to be picked up but in her system it shows as picked up because it was transferred but it's upfront.... Please, yes, take me up front because I've already been there twice and that guy was useless and didn't even look it up but tossed some boxes on the counter and told me to pick what I wanted ... This CVS is in a busy shopping center and at the crossroads of Route 29 and Old Columbia Pike. I've come here twice, and both times the store has not been busy, has had plenty of cashiers available, and does not have self-checkout kiosks. Both times, I had disappointing or less-than- satisfactory experiences. I attempted a curbside pickup order a couple months ago when CVS was massively pushing that service with a $10 off coupon, but the store failed miserably and I ended up having to go inside, defeating the purpose of a curbside pickup. The employee also was unable to find my curbside order and subsequently how to ring it up. Today I picked up some photo enlargements and the 5" x 7" photos were not cut down to size, instead having a large border around them, so I had to manually cut them with scissors, leaving jagged edges. On the basis of these two experiences, I would not return to this location. Sloppy and insufficient staff training is how I would describe the experiences. read more

There are a lot of bad reviews related to prescriptions, so I can't really speak to that. I was in need of flu vaccine to be compliant for work and they asked us to go out and receive it where eligible in the community to reduce the burden on work staff. I also met the eligibility for a covid booster. It was very easy to make my appointment online and I also made a flu shot appointment for my daughter. The check in was easy and the person was visible giving shots to others there ahead of us. It was very easy and efficient. I received the proof I need via email immediately. All of the staff were very efficient and professional and friendly. They didn't make me sit during the observation period, I was free to do that on my own in the store so it was beyond super convenient. I made my appointment same day- so happy to get this to do off my list. I even got a coupon to use in the store so everything was super easy- just the self checkout machine does not like me : ( Ha ha. The gentleman at the counter area took care of that quickly enough. read more

I don't understand why this place is so poorly rated! All of the staff are extremely professional and friendly people who seem to enjoy their job and enjoy helping people. Everytime I have to pick up a prescription, I'm greeted with a very bright smile by one of the pharmacy technicians. I don't tend to name drop, but specifically the lovely pharmacy technician Lehar, is extremely kind and helpful, even if something is wrong with my prescription, she will go out of her way to help me out and make sure I get what I need in a timely manner. People who review this establishment poorly most likely have paper thin patience, as sometimes the prescriptions do take a little while, although, with a little maturity and patience, everything always ends up great. I don't use this CVS for my prescriptions and lot of the negative reviews seem to be based on problems with the pharmacy, so my experience was more positive. This store was fairly large and well stocked. I found the items that I was looking for and a few not on my list. The store was almost empty so check-out was easy. The gentleman who checked me out was really nice. I had a stack of coupons and he encouraged me to keep rifling through them so I could use as many as possible before they expire. read more

CVS is great. Awesome location, you can find anything you want. Excellent Costumer Service. The pharmacy and checkout lines can take over 5 minutes. Good parking lot. This location has a USAA ATM machine indoors. Their prices run higher than other places. Their rewards program its pretty good except when you checkout it prints super long receipts and they send you many coupons by mail. Who does that? Like it would be fine only for the people who request it, but if I only want my coupons by email why not respect that. So, CVS does waste $ on all this paper waste and postage funds, which is useless, unpractical, simply dumb. read more

I'm in the Burtonsville CVS. I'm heading to the coupon center, which has been moved near the door. An employee moves in front of me and directs me from the exit to the check out counter. Not that important. I get in line. Same employee comes over and steps in between me and my wife, ask her if I'm bothering her and is she all right. I'm deciding whether to let my wife see a different side of me when I break his nose when I push between the two. Another employee ask him to leave the area and is smiling with a "let's be friends" attitude to me and my wife in a rapidly escalating situation. He leaves the area saying somethings I can't hear because of the commotion. It was not complimentary and I regret not breaking his nose. read more

Now, they have closed that unless it is for Covid tests. I don't know why how they can have so many people in the pharmacy and still be as slow as they are. They must have paid people to write the good reviews. This is the worst CVS I have ever had to go to. First of all, they just don't answer the phone. So do not even TRY calling. Seriously, it would be a waste of time. I think their drive thru has been closed for about a year now so the line inside is always long. Expect to wait at least 30 mins. One time, while waiting in line for a cashier, we saw an employee stocking. We asked if she could help us and she said "use the self-checkout." When we said we didn't want to use that (it only took cash), she said "I am busy." LOL. I swear to God. All I could do was laugh. If there is a CVS that may not be as close, go to that one! The Burtonsville pharmacy has to be the absolute worst one in Maryland. I had a doctor send in a prescription at 10 am this morning. I gave it a couple of hours and started checking the website for updates. By 6 pm, I just wanted to know if they had even received it, so I called the store. I sat on hold for over ten minutes without anyone picking up and acknowledging the call. After 15 minutes, I used another phone to call the front of the store and asked for a manager. The person who picked up told me that the phones weren't working properly and that I would need to come to the store to find out if they had my prescription. At that point, I asked him if he thought that was ridiculous, and asked if he could physically go back to the pharmacy and check for me. He said he couldn't , and got an attitude with me. I promptly asked for his name, but he wouldn't give it to me! At this point, I was irate, and still on hold for the pharmacy on my other phone. I jumped in my car and drove to the store, STILL ON HOLD, and went to the pharmacy. As I was standing in line, I could hear the automated voice saying " Three pharmacy calls, three pharmacy calls....". When it was my turn, the cashier got my prescription and I paid. Before leaving, I asked if their phone was working, and she said " Of course, why?". So, I pulled out my phone, put it on speaker and showed her the call timer which was at 42 minutes. She had nothing to say, and couldn't even bother to go to the phone and answer it. I realize businesses are short staffed, but this branch has always been terrible. My wife had cancer from 2018 to 2020, and they mangled quite a few prescriptions, so I started using the CVS in Ashton which is way better. At some point, the Burtonsville branch got a new head pharmacist so I decided to give them another try. I WILL NEVER GIVE THEM ANOTHER PENNY OF MY MONEY. I WILL DIE OF THIRST BEFORE I BUY A BOTTLE OF WATER FROM THEM. I'm fortunate because I have transportation and I can choose where I shop. I have been using CVS pharmacy for many years. I understand the pandemic has caused staffing issues, but the problems with CVS pharmacy go far beyond staffing issues. The pharmacy constantly notifies me that a rx is ready to be picked up, only to arrive and be told that it hasn't been filled yet and to wait in a long line with everyone else dealing with the same issue. To make it worse, now they fill the rx but don't run it through my insurance on file. This has happened several times and when I inquire as to why they would not use the insurance on file, I'm told "I don't know." Standing in a long line of people who were told to come pick up a prescription that wasn't ready and THEN standing in another long line to have your insurance applied to your prescription is ridiculous. Don't waste your time! They'll make up any reason why they did NOT fill the RX! Day 1- I receive a text message, your RX is being processed. It will be ready tomorrow at 5:55 PM. Day 2 - Still processing, I called to check the status, waited on hold for 20 minutes! I was told the computer didn't process it, we're so sorry, we can send it to another CVS to have it filled, I asked if they could send it to Ashton. They had to check and call me back, which they did. "We can have the Beltsville CVS fill the RX (mind you, this is during peak evening RUSH hour) or you can wait another day. I'll wait until tomorrow. Day 3 - Call to check on the status. So sorry, the warehouse didn't send it to us, we can have it for you tomorrow. Again, I asked, can you transfer the request to Ashton? Sure, I'll call them now. Ashton fills the RX within 5 minutes. Thankfully, this is not a life or death RX that I need. I really do not like leaving poor reviews, but in this case it's fully justified. I'm not sure what has happened with this CVS, they have been my go to for over 5 years. My friend had total hip replacement surgery and upon her release her doctor told her he'd called in her pain meds and to be sure to pick them up on the way home because although she was still getting residual pain relief from meds given to her during her procedure, she should expect serious pain that night and for the 2 days after the surgery. I drove us through the CVS drive through and the attendant told her that although her doctor had called in the 5 prescriptions, the ones for painkillers hadn't been pre-approved by the insurance company. If she wanted them, she would have to pay cash. My friend agreed to do that without hesitation, but the attendant said: "Wait, I just need to check something." When she came back, she said the pharmacist wouldn't accept cash for painkillers. My friend had to insist that the attendant get the pharmacist to speak with her at the window, and he reluctantly came to the window, but he wouldn't speak loudly enough to be heard. I drove us around, parked, and went inside. The pharmacist on duty, who identified himself as Julius, at first said it was against the law to give my friend her meds, to which I replied: "That's not true." Then he said he couldn't because the insurance company wouldn't let him and I said "If she's paying with cash they have nothing to do with it." Then he said it was entirely at his discretion whether he would fill her prescriptions or not, and his personal policy was to not take cash for the kinds of pain-killers she was prescribed. He said: "I don't feel comfortable taking cash." He refused a 61-year-old woman who'd had major surgery her pain meds for no real reason. She spent the night in agony. The next morning, her doctor and the regional CVS office got involved and I was able to go over and get her meds. What do we think that was all about, folks? Was the pharmacist: (a) Just a sadistic creep, (b) under investigation for god knows what, (c) daft, (d) all of the above, or (e) none of the above? read more

I went to my local CVS to get a covid test. I never in a million years would have thought that the worst part of potentially having covid was dealing with the rude, worthless, incompetent employees at CVS burtonsville. I scheduled a PCR rapid test for 2:30. I show up on time and ring the bell for the drive through. After ignoring me for 5-10 mins, a pharmacist finally gets on the intercom and tells me that they are not doing Covid tests at this store. I drove 30 mins to get here, CVS sent me 4 text messages and an email confirming my appointment and took my money upfront. You would think that with that much verification they would at least have the fucking decency to tell me that the store was not doing the Covid test. No apologies, no offer to refund me, and not even an ounce of sympathy. Luckily, I was able to go to urgent care and get a test. Really CVS, this is how you treat your sick customers?! There is a reason this piece of shit store has 1.6 stars. Do yourself a favor and never, ever fucking shop here. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs. I hope I never have to deal with the worthless fucking bastards who work at this absolute fucking hovel of a store. The worst customer service, long lines, prescriptions aren't ready when you arrive and you are told to move to the side and wait sometimes as long as an HOUR for a prescription. I've been filling prescriptions at this particular CVS for years. Within the last year the service has been atrocious. I receive automatic phone messages indicating that my prescriptions are ready. I go there and stand in a very long line just to be told my prescriptions aren't ready. I'm instructed to stand to the side. I've waited as long as an hour to pick-up one prescription, that should have been ready when I arrived. This has been a recurring problem at this particular CVS. They have been pushing mail order. I refuse to use CVS mail order. I've read where they have made mistakes by delivering the wrong medicines or prescriptions aren't arriving on time. I prefer picking up my prescriptions in person. I received an automated call saying my prescription was ready. When I arrived the following day and waited in an extremely long line. When I finally reached the cashier I was told my prescription was not ready. They told me they would put a rush on it. Yeah, a rush that took 45 minutes. When I finally got the prescription, I incurred a charge. I knew there was no charge for this prescription. My insurance covered this prescription in full. I informed the cashier. She instructed me to move to the drop off line to be helped. I was the only one in line. I stood there for approximately 15 minutes. Several employees looked at me, but kept working to avoid me. Finally a gentleman asked if I had been helped. He knew that I hadn't, he too noticed me in line and kept working. He looked at my insurance card and said it hadn't been scanned. Puzzled, I said my card was on file there, that I had not had this issue in the past. He didn't respond, made a new label talked as he walked away and said that I had to go back to the cashier for a refund. I exclaimed that this was ridiculous!! I waited in line again. The entire process took me 1 hour 15 minutes. UNACCEPTABLE!! I refuse to use this CVS again. It appears since Aetna and CVS has merged, service has gone downhill. Even though this CVS is the closest one to my home, I took my business elsewhere years ago because of problems I had with it. Because of an injury that keeps my from driving, I need to have my meds delivered, but my new CVS doesn't deliver to my address. Despite my misgivings, I switched to the Burtonsville store. Big mistake. After a week-long battle I finally received my meds. One of the boxes had been torn open. It looked as if it had been issued to someone else before me. Its expiration date was in only one month. A second box had been damaged. I called Customer Service and spoke to an agent at length. She said the regional pharmacy manager would call me. He or she never did. I sent an email to customer service and requested a reply. I never got one. Avoid this pharmacy like the plague! read more

4 times I've tried to have a prescription filled here, and 3 of those times they agreed to fill it, but when I went to pick it up, they didn't have it. They never called to tell me this and seemed surprised that I wanted them to order it. This resulted in a delayed start and nearly missed doses with a medicine that needs weaning. If I could give less than 1 star, I would. Without a doubt this is the most disorganized, unelpful, poorly managed pharmacy I've ever used. When I started coming here a few years ago, they were fine - not great but fine. They have continually gone downhill since they opened. They've changed my prescriptions without permission. They've told me my prescriptions were ready - then when I came to pick it up, told me that the drug was back ordered with no date of delivery (not so useful when you need to take a medication every day). Without exaggeration, at least 75℅ of the times my doctor sends a prescription into thier system for my husband or I, it is lost. I'm finally fed up and finding a new pharmacy.
