Let me state that everyone deserves and has the right to break for lunch. However, if you know that lunch is coming at 1:30pm, and the entire pharmacy shuts down could you at least be kind enough to take the customer who had been waiting in line since 1:23 pm rather then say we are closed for lunch as they walk up to counter. And, tell those who are arriving within a minute or two of pending shut down, as common courtesy if you plan on not taking them. I watched two people who arrived after me and were waiting for a few minutes. I work in medical field and have worked at a CVS in my early years. Why does the entire pharmacy have to go to lunch at the same time? Why not break it up in shifts like most customer and patient facing places do? I respect and understand workers must have a break. In return be kind and respectful for others time and communicate to those waiting. If I was told that as soon as I arrived rather than as I approach the counter after waiting I would have appreciated that. read more

DO NOT USE THIS PHARMACY FOR ANYTHING TIME SENSITIVE. They don't pick up calls. They don't input prescriptions. I doubt they actually fill them either, if you can get that far. My Dr. faxed in a prescription over three days ago. Today the automated line still shows that the pharmacy hasn't even entered it, much less filled it. Tried calling three different times at different times of the day. Doesn't matter when you call - morning or evening - nobody picks up after long times of waiting. Asked my Dr. to try to call the special RX line and see if they had inputted it. They hadn't - the office told me they had re-sent the fax and asked that I make sure they put it in this time. As of now it's still not showing as entered once again, so here I sit, on hold going on an hour and a half with nobody picking up. I had no choice but to go here because my normal CVS didn't stock this medication, but if you have an option, go literally anywhere else. read more

The pharmacy is completely inept. They have no idea what they're doing and they never fill orders when the say they will. Absolute nightmare of a manager, Ken. Context: I've been a loyal CVS shopper for 12 years and spend an average of $200 a month there. Me: I'd like to return these 5 items for a store credit, please. Lady behind counter: I need to check with my manager for returns over $50. Me: No problem. Ken the Manager: You cannot return that ($40 item) without a receipt. Me: That doesn't make sense, is that for all CVS stores? Ken: No, just mine. Me: Okay, then, I'll return the rest of the items (which did not come close to $50). Ken: No, you can't return anything here. You have to go to the CVS you bought them. That was the gist. Customer service *promised* they would escalate the situation to the regional manager. Ken is probably friends with the regional manager. LOL So, I'm making sure Yelp knows about this disaster of a manager. This is my closest CVS and the most visited one including the pharmacy. I ordered the prescription refill for my son on Thursday, July 26 and could not get as of today, July 30 as the pharmacy is out of stock. Mind you it is not the candy or toilet paper it is a drug that has to be taken every day. Finally today I came in because there are no pills left and they still did not have it. They sent me to another CVS to get it. Problem that I have is that as I said before it is for my son who can not get it by himself so I had to drive to another CVS, not too close by the way to get it. I fill many prescriptions at CVS and can do it anywhere else! I would expect that if this happens they send their own courier to get it for their loyal client. I stopped in here to purchase a few items, including a bar of soap for $6.29 which I just found on Amazon (with free shipping) for $3.46... : ( The last time I was here I purchased (among other things) a bag of CVS brand Gold Emblem buffalo pretzel nuggets which were absolutely disgusting and a Frida Kahlo lipstick that was super dry and flaky. I don't think I'd ever returned anything at a CVS before, but I didn't expect an issue as I had my original receipt dated within the last week or two and they advertise all the time regarding how "risk free" their return policies are. When I told the cashier I wanted to return those two items in addition to making a purchase she told me she didn't think I could return anything I'd opened. That's not okay, especially because the CVS Gold emblem brand guarantees "you'll love it or your money back" and also "the CVS Pharmacy 100% money back beauty guarantee" promises a refund if you aren't "fully satisfied." I stood my ground and told the cashier that wasn't acceptable, so she offered to get a manger. The manager processed my return, but because they were out of the exact lipstick color I purchased they scanned a different one for the return which for some reason made it so that I couldn't get my money back, but only a store credit. That was fine with me as I was making a purchase and could use the credit on that, but when they processed the refund it turned out the lipstick had gone on clearance (probably because it was gross) so the credit they issued was a few dollars short. I didn't realize this until after I'd given them more cash to cover the difference, so when I asked for it back I was told I'd have to come back the next day to speak with another manager. The manager present eventually gave me my money back, but only after keeping me waiting and arguing with me awhile. Over less than $3?!? And twenty minutes of my life I'll never get back... I won't be shopping here again. It's well worth driving an extra 5 minutes down the street to get to Wegman's or any number of their competitors. I used to really enjoy this CVS, but am having second thoughts after they got rid of my best friends.... the self checkout machines! I used to specifically come into this CVS to use them since I really enjoy them, and don't like dealing with the somewhat annoying and rude people who work here. Don't get me wrong, there are some friendly and helpful people here, but others give you the death look and in my opinion, aren't doing their jobs correct or well for that matter. The price scanners in this store work well, but I've recently noticed that the prices here are really high... like really high. Not that it isn't convenient, but since I don't live in the area and am normally just passing by this section of the VFW when I stop in here, some things are much less expensive at CVS in Dedham or even Walgreens. Not exactly sure why the Chestnut Hill residents are expected to pay more than the rest of the state, considering the fact that it's a wealthy area, but it's not ok by any means. Selection is sort of small and clearance always goes in a heartbeat. There isn't really any reason for me to stop here that frequently since I live twenty minutes away and don't use the VFW that much. Definitely not the best CVS around by any means, but also better than the other Chestnut Hill location (where the manager thinks it's ok to yell at customers for countless hours), and it's the only spot in this plaza with regular basic items, heck it's the only spot along the VFW for at least ten minutes either way with basic items.... 3 stars. Awful costumer service. Rude attendants. Very frustrating. I made a simple question and was answered with the ultimate lack of respect.

I checked out using the self checkout which stated it accepted cash, credit and debit. Well first it wouldn't read my Cvs card. Put my number in - can't find it. Tried my coupons - nope not without store card! After many minutes of frustration, the cashier who was standing right next to the self checkout says "that doesn't work". Is there not an out of order sign?! No! Now comes cashier #2 Elaine. Elaine found me to be rude because I was upset I wasted a lot of time! When I reminded her she works there and I assume is paid - she again said "you don't need to be rude". I asked for an apology and she refused! The first cashier spoke up and I told him he was the one who knew it was out of order and chose to ignore ! No apology! Elaine speller like Eliane and thinks she is above a customer experience needs some serious customer training experience and it fired! read more

Pros - - am never going back there, - they just made walmart pharmacy look so much better Cons - - min 20 mins wait to get them find my prescription order all 3 times i was there - long lines to check out ,,maybe my timing is not great - the advise for my meds intake printed on box and what the consulting lady tells me are completely opposite. - the 'knowledgeable' consultants working behind the counter discuss openly and rudely in front of me how using a coupon and insurance for the same prescription is not allowed and someone thinks it could be MEDICAL FRAUD. i tell them to check as i believe the insurance and coupon should work ,,,,,, and it does go through in their system ,,,,,it always has at other cvs pharmacies since the last year without any problems! i collect my meds for the last time from the counter, informing the lady that i called and checked with the brand coupon company and my insurance and if they said i can apply both, maybe they should reserve their opinion on medical fraud and get their facts right about medicines as well as how insurance works. still waiting to hear an apology from them or their store manager who has not responded to my store feedback yet ,,, read more

This review is specifically for the pharmacy. I have been having repeated prescription issues with my new doctor, who sends incorrect prescriptions (I know.. time to get another new dr) but Kris has removed a lot of the stress of fixing prescriptions as I'm running out of meds and has been more helpful and gone above and beyond what any pharmacist has done for me. I have pharmacists in my family and after explaining my situation to them, they agreed "Kris is a great guy" and he truly cares about pharmacy patients. However I agree with other reviews that the self check out machines should come back! An employee told me they removed them due to theft , which makes sense seeing as how overpriced this cvs is... now the lines here can get really long during busy hours read more

Lousy pharmacy. The only reason I go there is it's close to home. But I think I'll drive to the one in West Roxbury from now on. Arrived at 5:08 with my prescription. After spending 2 hours in a doc office, I was sick and in need of the prescription to be filled. Apparently the doctor had not provided all the necessary info. The pharmacist first told me to call the doctor. Then she called and the dr. office was closed. She said couldn't fill it. She was not the least bit helpful (like in those commercials). Eventually she agreed to get an on-call doctor and see if she could get a clarification. Considering her job is to work with people - often sick people - she was not the least bit considerate or helpful. Her name was Leteicha. read more

The pharmacy is the worst. I tried to fill a prescription and was told that they would not fill it until the day AFTER I ran out. This means that my child would not receive his important medication in the morning when he is supposed to get it. They were inflexible and would only say that it was "pharmacy policy", a horrible answer to give a customer. When I tried to discuss the issue with a manager, he was less than useless. I was very polite about the situation and the manager was extremely defensive, unprofessional, and rude! He even went as far as screaming things to me as I left the store. our one-time experience with the "photo lab" was like this: first passport photo was taken, they did not show it to us, when we got it, the eyes were closed!! we went back in for a repeat, the picture was fine, but they forgot to stamp and date the back... we have to go back there a third time... shear incompetence... absolutely ridiculous. it will be the last time we will go there. read more

the most incompetent pharmacy staff ever, 5 days and still no meds, i asked for a brand name not a generic drug , the dr corrected the prescription but the staff at this cvs pharmacy unable to connect any dots. "We have to order it for you "- ok so how long will it take " a day " they said. The same day i get a call saying drug is discontinued, then i get a cal afew hours later saying its not discontinued but the insurance wont pay for brand name drug, although just a few hours before they told me it was covered. I had to call the dr and ask to send the prescription to an online express pharmacy . But the DR said that CVS has no problem ordering it. In the meantime the next day they call me and say that they were unable to order the drug because it was discontinued, i was angry as hell and called the DR and told them to send the prescription to an online pharmacy, long and behold a few hours later they call saying they have the drug but will not be able to do refills on it. At this point i am unable to pick it up because the online scripts already filled the order and now i have to wait 4 days to have it sent to me. And they blamed the Dr for sending wrong prescription, even if that was the case the CVS staff made numerous mistakes and obviously has no idea about the avilability of the drug nor a clue about my insurance. read more

I didn't think there was any possibility that there was a pharmacy as bad as the CVS on Centre Street, but I only had to look about a mile away. Granted, the pharmacy staff is MUCH more pleasant, but the level of incompetance is just as bad. I can't believe they haven't killed someone yet. Just had a call telling me I needed prior authorization for a worker's comp prescription that took TWO WEEKS to fill back in May. WC was so helpful I sent thank you notes to my adjuster and the Director of Finances for their sustained and incredible help in cutting through the cr*p. The last thing I heard from the adjuster was "You won't have this problem again." Dada!! This is CVS we're talking about. It remains to be seen if today's problem is the same as May's but for the UMTEENTH time I had to tell them that for my particular WC you have to CALL not FAX and besides, I DON'T NEED PRIOR AUTHORIZATION. IT'S BEEN AUTHORIZED AT THE HIGHEST LEVELS. Walgreens used to have the WC contract and they dropped it. Oh God I will never say a bad word about anyone again in my entire life if Walgreens agees to work with my insurer. read more
