Pharmacy technicians laughed in my face when I tried to walk-in the drive-thru after being denied entry by a security guard. I needed to get very important medications from there and it was first time needing to get it picked up. Pharmacy techs were so condescending and said "we can't help you, please leave," and I saw other pharmacy techs laughing in the background at the fact I'm walking through the drive-thru. Sorry I don't have a car, but maybe you should actually try to prioritize the health of people if you want to be in the pharmacy world when they need help. Worst staff I have ever met. read more

Why the hell does the pharmacy have a phone when no one picks up. I moved down to the west loop and moved my prescriptions to this CVS. I've previously been at the damen location where they pick up their phones within 10 minutes. The issue is my doctor keeps sending my prescriptions to that CVS even though I don't live close. Nearly every single time I call this place, i'm on hold for 45min or so before I give up and just hang up. I don't even know why I bother. I have no clue how this place even stays afloat. read more

Horrible Pharmacy. Needed a prescription that is pretty crucial. Ran out two weeks ago, submitted a refill on the app and website, yet somehow it never went through. Did this again on the 3rd and was told it was submitted for approval to the GP. After a few days said my prescriptions were ready, went to go get them and turns out they never submitted the approval request. Said it'll take a few days. Also contacted my GP and submitted the request on my own since CVS didn't do it twice. It got approved, yet CVS is saying a few more days "waiting on approval". They really just want people to die don't they? read more

Not really sure how to write a review in light of the previous two reviews. Yes, this is a new CVS in a transitioning neighborhood. It is near one of the best high schools in the state and adjacent to public housing. To the north of this CVS is Little Italy and to the south is Little Village. So yes, they have a security guard. But you need not avoid this place after dark because they took care of that nasty vampire problem long ago. As for the clerks, they are awfully slow and unhelpful. There is ALWAYS a long line at the front and no one seems to be able to move faster than your typical governmental employee. The pharmacy, however, is a clear gem. The pharmacists and technicians are very helpful and do yoeman's work helping all customers. I've waited in line while one technician helped explain a blood glucose meter to a new-ish diabetic. I often see customers greeted by first name. So, my fellow Yelpers, this is a clean, safe, decent store that we locals should support. If you have a problem, especially if an employee curses at you, ask for a manager. Otherwise that employee will still be on her cell phone (and cursing at you) the next time you come here to shop. read more

Everyone who works here is unbelievably helpful and friendly. It's a well stocked store and when I'm too lazy to drive to Target I get everything I need here. I also get weekly coupons so I've gotten some good deals. They have a cash station inside and a red box outside if you need one. Good CVS to shop at. I had to create a Yelp account just to write a review for the CVS Pharmacy at 1211 W. Roosevelt Rd., Chicago, IL. I wish there was a negative star scale. I have been getting prescriptions at this particular pharmacy for YEARS and I cannot take it anymore. The customer service at the pharmacy is absolute trash. I understand, and sympathize, if they are short-staffed but this has been ongoing for over a year and their attitude starts early in the morning and is there all day regardless of the person handling the transaction and regardless of how busy they may be. I am more surprised when I receive decent customer support because it is that rare. The female pharmacist has 10/10 had an attitude each and every time she answers the phone - and that's if she even bothers to answer the phone. The tech rolls her eyes at customers in the drive through window. I know the tech's name but I doubt it will make a difference if I mention it here. I could go on and on but that's only one issue. The biggest issue is when they tell you that a prescription will be ready after a certain hour and it is not. They don't care that it's not ready or that you need it and have waited over 8 hours for it - or sometimes they have not even started to process it. They don't call you to tell you that your prescription is expired and you're assuming it's being processed because they told you over the phone that they see your prescription and will get it ready and it will be ready after a certain hour. They don't bother to mention on the phone that your prescription is expired so you can call your PCP to refill it. Or after holding for almost an hour to have someone answer the phone, they finally answer the phone (with an attitude of course) and tell you the prescription will be ready in 1 or 2 days even if you say you need it today. They say they're too busy and that's the earliest they'll get to it. The male pharmacist is the only decent pharmacist at this location. You can tell he is swamped when he answers the phone but he is professional and fills the prescriptions when he says he will. There are certain medications that you cannot call another CVS pharmacy and request your medication to be processed there instead without your PCP's approval not to mention I use this pharmacy because it is the most convenient location for my family. The store itself is amazing. I have never had a bad experience with the store employees. Only at the pharmacy. It's gone from a great pharmacy to absolute trash. They need to revamp their pharmacy or hire more people. When they are dealing with medications, their status quo is ethically not okay. read more

First visit to this CVS location with a prescription. Also the last. Arrived at 4PM with a prescription. Was told "at least 40 minutes to an hour". Pharmacy area looked totally understaffed and there are prescription trays stacked everywhere. Every pickup requires the clerk to look through stacks of trays - nothing in even alphabetical order. Decided to come back after the evening rush, at 7PM. Used the drive-thru but the clerk kept asking me for the same information over and over again. Told them I would come inside - where I found even more chaos then in the afternoon. Turned out the clerk didn't even put my prescription into the computer. The paperwork was sitting on a counter in a pile of other un-processed prescriptions. The pharmacist hunted around for my prescription, then spent 10 minutes tapping at the computer like she'd never used one before. I've never understood why prescriptions take so long - all they do is paste a label on a marked, sealed box or bottle. But that's another rant. It took an hour in a half just to get a flu shot and i paid for a statue that was in good condition for holloween and the girl in pharmacy bagged it and when i came home it was broken. I came back to return it and the pharmasist lied to the manager saying we bought it an hour ago and it was at least 15 min. If anything it took an hour in ahalf just for a flu shot. This pharmacy constantly makes mistakes. The manager is completely checked out, unwilling to help correct mistakes and has even hung up on me. Most of the Pharmacy Technitions have taken on her attitude. It's as if they love to make you wait and explain why they're going to. The one exception is the male assistant general manager who is very kind and helpful. I have been given other peoples prescriptions, repeatedly told that they do not receive electronic prescription sent from Rush hospital or other places in which I've had them sent . They have accepted prescriptions in which they do not have the stock only to tell me when I've come to get it. On three occasions I have called in a prescription only to arrive and have had them fill a different one. And then they recommend that I wait for an hour For my turn. Unless this pharmacy goes under different management and changes their procedures I would not recommend starting service with them. read more

I often stop here after my tutoring gig at St. Ignatius, helping students prepare for the ACT. The store is often understaffed, but I've never had a problem with service. There is a security guard stationed at the entrance, yes, and reviewers like to point out the surrounding public housing and certain instances of crime. Ok. So a couple of people are committing crimes in the area. Let's be careful about navigating the neighborhood. BUT, let's also be careful about implicitly perpetuating general racist views towards African Americans because of a few bad apples. Yelp loves a good witch hunt, and it's really disappointing. I encourage all of us white allies, Latinxs, and African Americans instead to be reflective of the colonial mindset that imprisons us and to do the hard work to dissolve that. I make sure to smile at the cashier if it's been a particularly long line. Sometimes the pharmacy is backed up with customers so I just check my emails (Tell President Obama: call off raids against immigrant families, Sign the petition: Stop bullying transgender children, Sign if you agree: Ban Bee-Killing Pesticides). The isles and fridges are stocked with food high in trans fat and sodium. Mostly I stop here for the Redbox outside. It's the closest one to me, and the selection is mainly big budget studio films and Tyler Perry knockoffs. I would appreciate stronger indie choices for this location's curation. Half of the available movies are Marvel. Though there are worse things to watch than ScarJo. Her performance in "Under the Skin" was quietly arresting, evoking Hepburn-esque curiosity with merely her eyes, as an alien roaming the Scottish Highlands. Though if I'm truly honest with myself, last year I enjoyed "Lucy" more than I enjoyed "Under the Skin." Because I immediately understood "Lucy." It was weird enough to feel fresh, it appealed to my tastes, I identified with and appreciated the themes, and I wasn't once confused. I recognize that "Under the Skin" is undeniably more challenging, more complex, and better directed. But at the end of the day, I need "Under the Skin" explained to me. I got a vague idea as to some of its themes, particularly right at the end, but most of it made no sense to me until I sought out and read analyses. And I'm always ashamed of myself when this happens, because I feel like I should have been able to figure it out on my own. I sometimes fear that as a viewer I've rendered myself blind to subtlety, growing up watching Michael Bay films and summer movie blockbusters, Hollywood studio films that go big and wear their intent on their sleeve. I had to pause "Birdman" the other day because I couldn't stop crying. I get frustrated and the room gets dark when I try to read and appreciate the hidden meaning in works. Then I start to think maybe the filmmaker is making fun of me. He purposely made something opaque to watch me squirm as I try to squeeze meaning out of something meant to point out my stupidity. It's been my goal to be as well-rounded of a viewer as I can be. So I sometimes rent the Tyler Perry knockoffs, just to cover my bases. I want to be able to appreciate any film on its own terms. But too often I find myself needing things explained to me about a film's intent, and I feel I'm not getting any better at it. read more

Really terrible customer service in the pharmacy. They expect patients to call the doctor themselves when there's a question about filling a script. I won't be coming here any more for this reason. If zero were an option, I'd choose it. This pharmacy is consistently slow and unreliable. If your medicine is out of stock it takes them TWO days to receive it, that's if they remember to place an order. And if that's not the problem, their computers are down so your meds they do have ready can not be purchased. The only reason I came back to this pharmacy is because I'm sick and its right down the street. But I can't get my antibiotics and they won't transfer it or be any help what-so-ever. Do NOT use this pharmacy. They are disorganized and don't stock enough meds. This is the second time that my doctor has called in a prescription and they didn't have them in stock. They had to order it!. Both times, they didn't notify me to tell me the status, but a day or so later they notified me the meds were ready! Usually when you need medication - you need it NOW - not in 36 hours. I found out that their medication delivery comes in on Tuesday, so if you order meds on the weekend or Monday - there is a chance that they are all gone. This is unacceptable. Grossly incompetent. We used to fills prescriptions here but the employees have no clue how to authorize insurance correctly, leading to their default response of "it's not covered by insurance." You would have sit there and walk them through the process on how to authorize correctly. I've been coming to this store since soon after it opened because I live nearby and want businesses in the neighborhood to succeed. The general cashier services in the front of the store were initially uniformly completely horrible. They have improved to the point that they are now just bad to not good. The pharmacy services were initially very good, then deteriorated to bad, and now have become spotty and generally just ok. The general employees should be better trained and more closely supervised. The pharmacy staff should be held to a higher standard than it currently is. read more

Do not go to this CVS. Go anywhere but here, there's a Target nearby with a CVS inside with competent people, go there. I have made the mistake too many times going here and I am always waiting for things that should be readily accessible. The associates have no sense of urgency and simple things confuse them. My recent trip was to pick up a photo print I had ordered. The photo had been printed early in the morning and by the evening I arrived only to learn the associates couldn't find my photo. They told me to wait so I waited while four different associates searched for my photo to finally tell me they will have to reprint it. Not only that, they couldn't print it right away and I would have to wait until they call me to come back again. I left and within an hour someone called me telling me to come back. The lack of organization and common courtesy is astounding, this location has clearly not been through basic customer service and speaking skills. read more

This Pharmacy is the worst pharmacy I have been to, in fact it is the only pharmacy to mess up my order and switch stuff to generic brands without notifying me. They never have anything in stock and they expect you to do all the work. When I asked about problems they would make it about the doctor and say the insurance didn't cover it which is just a lie because I called my provider right after. Worst ever! Got jumped in parking lot on a Sunday afternoon. Manager didn't even ask me if I'm OK. I was told that they are not responsible because they take the proper precautions. They fired the guard. The cameras have blind spots. (Guess where I for jumped? )First he first tried to get my 94 yr old mom to open the door. Then jumped me and stole my phone. I have been going to this pharmacy for the last 4 years or so and I now feel compelled to write a review after yesterday's experience. There is always an issue. ALWAYS. I started going to this pharmacy when I lived in Boston and was told that it would be an easy transition to this Chicago location. This was not the case. For about 6 months every time I came to pick up a prescription they would not give it to me because they did not have my new Chicago address...basically I wasn't in the system even though I was coming twice a month to this location and had been updating my profile and insurance information each visit. I finally talked to a manager and she told me that I had 2 profiles and that it would be taken care of. Now 3 years later they still have my 2nd profile on file and I have given up on updating my phone number. They continue to call a number that I had 4 years ago so I never know if my prescription is ready. There have also been times when they have lost prescriptions that have been called in. After the third time that this happened I really was upset and I wasn't very friendly or understanding. The manager at the time told me that she had nothing to do with my past experiences (she had been there for a month) and that she had every right to refuse to give me my medication if I wasn't going to be calm and professional with her. She then asked me to verify my address so I did and she told me that the address that I had given her was not on file. I explained yet again about how no one had updated my profiles. Because she didn't feel like I was being calm ( I was not yelling but I my tone was not friendly) she told me that I had to wait in the parking lot and that when she felt ready she would come to a decision to give me my medication or not. She actually said "I have your meds right here but because I don't like your attitude I don't have to give it to you" The only reason why I waited is because I was leaving to France that same day and I didn't have time to get my doctor to call the prescription into another pharmacy. Most recently, on 3/25/15 I went to pick up a prescription that my doctor had called into the pharmacy 8 hours before I had showed up and when I got there they told me that they couldn't give it to me because they needed clarification from my doctor even though this is a medication that I have been taking for the last 4 years and she personally called it in and sent over the script. The first pharmacist that I spoke to told me that they did have anything for me. Since I am used to hearing this I asked her if she could as the other pharmacists on duty just to verify and another pharmacist told me that they had called my doctor hours ago and she hadn't called them back so there was nothing they could do. When I got to the parking lot I called my doctor and found out that no one had ever paged her. Then while I was talking to her she got a call from CVS.... they lied to me. They need more training and new leadership. read more

I have visited this place a few times and honestly I only come here because it is down the street from my apartment. The employees are so slow, it's pretty obvious that they don't want to be working there. The thing that upset me today is that the security guard asked me to leave my bag up in front with him, I understand that they want to cut down loss but I shouldn't have to leave my stuff for them to do their job. And when I was standing in line, the security guard brought my stuff out and instead of handing them to me, he decided to act smart and put it on the ground about 3 feet away from me and said, "I'm not your boyfriend!" I didn't say anything or do anything for him to act up like that. All I did was extend my had to take my things that HE wanted me to leave with him. That was just plain rude and honestly it still upsets me right now and it's been about 2 hours since I came home. I'm going to avoid this crummy CVS and go somewhere else, the rudeness is not something I will tolerate. For instance, the script has been filled in Orlando and I just need to pick it up at their store.
